I'm having the problem on CM7 where it wants to verify the phone number of the device... I should probably start a new thread.
I figure why not and downgrade to the classic android market, don't care for Google play much. So how would I downgrade to a very early version like that and prevent it from re-updating back to Google play?

Well, you could find an apk somewhere for an older version (extract from a rom, for example) and delete/freeze market updater apk.
This is a good idea

[APK] Old Market v2.3.6
What coccolino_dbro said. Here's the apk for old Market v2.3.6. Got it from BlackICE ROM for HTC DHD.
Thank you, so I would freeze market updater with nobloat and then install this apk which would replace the current one?

I disabled the market updater with nobloat, that should hold right?

Does it work then?
Well I disabled it with nobloat, but after a reboot the icon changed and it upgraded to the version where the shopping bag android icon changed a little. So I tried freezing it, after a reboot it was back to Google play.

Do I need to delete the play store before installing the new market one?
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
I deleted the old one, installed the new one, and it won't stop crashing.

Guys, my phone's market is really screwed up, someone please help.

Try deleting MarketUpdater.apk and the Google Play apk through a root file browser. I think Google play apk is called Phonesky.apk and not Vending.apk. Anyway delete both those files from your /system/app folder and then move the old market apk to the folder. Set permissions to rw--r--r (same as all the other apps in the folder) and reboot. Should work now. Copy the MarketUpdater.apk to your SD card before deleting, just in case.

Looks like its working now, thank you.

Thanks guys, Google play just looked ugly and like something that wasn't even part of android.

Well everything is good now, thanks for all your help everybody
Does anybody know the file permissions of the market updater.apk?

Hello people,
As the title says im after an inverted (black) version of Google Now Search for our Note 10.1.
Now I can find loads of copies of Inverted Google Now, but none will work on my rooted Note running a stock deodexed 4.1.2 rom. I keep getting that the app csnt be installed because an existing package with the same with a conflicting signature is already installed.
Anyone have or no of a work around to get over this???
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
you need to uninstall Google search first then you will be able to install a new one
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Isn't Google search also baked into a stock Rom??? How do you go about uninstalling this version???
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Yeah but you can uninstall it with titanium backup. After uninstall reboot and you should be able to install the inverted version just like any other app

I have version 2.0 with stock build prop and have made a successful purchase. Some people are having problems though, but it's worth a shot.

Ok thank you for your help.

I think the proper way to keep the NFC purchases is to install the older version and then upgrade

There's a new version that was released 2 days ago....anyone try that yet?

I posted an update in the original thread that works if you already have the old version installed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024460&page=125 (message # 1243)
If you don't have the old version already installed, follow the instructions in the OP, then update it using my method.
I'm having lots of luck with the new Google Wallet.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35365898&postcount=1
And my success story with the latest update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46346934&postcount=856
Other required reading: Install the xposed framework installer (must be rooted, natch), and the Google Wallet module for it.
I see this is available for all Android phones after version 4.1 but yet I can't install the new launcher experience on my kitkat 4.4 maxx anyone know how to achieve this task?

You need the gel launcher installed then delete Google search and the 3.1.8 update will install. I just checked my version and its 3.1.24 why do you want to install an older version.
I thought 3.1.8 is a newer version than 3.1.24. And do we have the full Google experience now?

Its not newer 24 is higher than 8 and I installed the 3.1.8 and was prompted to update to the version I already had. The only thing we don't have is the Google dialer 100%. Its damn close accept your calls are routed through the stock dialer and the caller I'd doesn't work for non contacts.
I am stock BigV and on 4.4 just trying to get the most out of my maxx. Any words of wisdom for me?

Not a lot you can do without root to be honest. The google dialer needs root to be installed you have to put it into a system folder. However on google play there is a KK dialer that is identical to the one we can install just not having all the neat caller id and search features. the GEL launcher you should be able to install without root i think.
Just installed the Google launcher its way better thanks for that little help...
