[Q] Headsets/Headphones issues, how to fix? - HTC Inspire 4G

While I've greatly enjoyed this phone, there is one glaring issue that's made it impossible to enjoy it to the fullest. I am a man that appreciates music, and I'd love to use my phone to listen to it, but whenever I plug in a set of headphones most music apps begin exhibiting erractic behavior.
* Headphones are recognized as headsets
* Music app randomly skips between songs
* Music app's UI is crippled due to random changing between screens
* Music apps randomly start, often more than one at once.
I've done this on multiple ROMs, rooted, unrooted, and while performing ancient pagan rituals, but there's no change. I've scoured several forums, and no matter what I try, I am unable to squeeze some function out of this. I have used the Headset Blocker app, though only on one ROM, and it worked exactly once before ceasing to function.
Please, I am at the end of my rope. If any of you have any insight, for the love of god, share it!

Headset blocker did it for me. There was one time that I guess I had gotten dirt in the headset port. After blowing it out, headset blocker worked again.

Is the headset blocker a hardware attachment or an application? I'm also plagued by this problem on the Inspire...I'd love to be able to use my phone to play music in my car, but it does the same thing as the OP...and it constantly starts voice commands and doing random things. (I've tried using an app killer to kill voice commands as well, but I've not had any luck).
Thanks

It's an app. Search for it in the play store.

Bluetooth A2DP now on Jawbone ICON earpieces

So sweet. Jawbone now has an update for the Jawbone ICON which allows it to pair as an A2DP device. This means I can route all sound to it: music, movies, navigation, FartDroid, Robo Defense, etc.
There has never hasn't been a fix for this since the 1.5 ROMs. I'm on Fresh 2.0d
This awesome earpiece can be had for around $75 if you look hard enough.
Happy he posted... I am very happy, since I already have an ICON but didn;t know this
maybe not a big issue with people on this forum but this was a huge android issue in general. pissed a lot of people off.

Holy ****. This just cluttered up this thread.
This was a huge deal with Android and Jawbone just solved it for me.
Good to know. Knew I got my Icon for something. Thanks for the info.

Can the ICON connect to the phone and allow voice dial ? Thats one feature I miss. All the crazy advances and this is one feature that hasnt been fixed. Oh well. By the way the Q1 does the ad2p thing and also allows 8 presets that allow the unit to at least connect and call out which is handy. It also allows you to connect hands free with just your voice. Not too big of a deal if your driving but if your a biker it's a pretty awesome feature ;-)
I wonder how hard would it be to program an app to wait for the button press on a headset and set it to use the voice recognition on the phone that is used by google search/nav etc...

Maybe it was a multi phone pairing issue, but I found that the Q1 didn't reconnect automatically if I walked away from the headset with the phone or vice versa. Also didn't like that the buttons were easy to press and hence a lot of pocket headset redials...
I am very stoked with the a2dp on the icon as that's the headset i had just before being convinced by someone else that the q1 was the way to go and since having gone back to the icon
Thanks for the info, I forget that the icon is updatable and haven't checked in a while...
r
seeing as this is a relatively active bluetooth-related thread, i was wondering if someone could answer a q for me.
im on fresh 2.0d and whenever I tried to play anything via A2DP in my car, the audio was sped up and always skipped about every second...has anyone else experienced this? if not, could you tell me which ROM you are using so I could give it a try?
appreciate any info anyone can offer...thanks

Here's a bit of info on the Jawbone ICON website: "To encourage Google to support voice dial via Bluetooth on the Android OS, vote at Google product ideas or post a reply on Motorola's DROID forum."
I have found that the Voice Search app works a little better than the Voice Dialer app on the Hero. I just place a shortcut on my home screen. If I open the app and say, "Call Dennis at Home," it will dial home right away. Not quite "hands free" dialing, but as close as I can get for now.

Google Maps Navigation Bug - Turn by Turn directions

I've owned my T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G for about 10 days and I've noticed that the Google Maps Navigation does not completely speak the turn by turn directions through my bluetooth headset (Jawbone Icon) when connected. For example, if a diretion is supposed to be: "Take Exit 148 in 1,000 feet" all that I will hear is about 1/2 the sentence: "in 1,000 ft". This happens all the time when the Sensation 4G is connected via bluetooth. It happened to me the 1st time I used it and it happens all the time at every turn voice prompt.
When the navigation is through the speaker phone, it speaks the complete directions just fine. However, I use my bluetooth most of the time while driving because in Washington State it is illegal to drive while talking on your cell phone, unless you have a bluetooth.
Is this issue just with the HTC Sensation 4G? My previous phone was a Samsung Galaxy S 4G and the Google Maps Navigiation directions worked fine with my same Bluetooth headset. I've tried a phone restore and I also updated the Google Maps app (6/30/11) and I am still experiencing these turn by turn bugs via bluetooth. Anybody else experience this or can anyone please test the Google Maps Navigation with their headset?
Out of curiosity, is it the same voice? You may want to try re-installing the text to speak app.
The device is establishing an a2dp connection which takes a second or two. This causes the start of the directions to be missed. This is designed to save power by only connecting when audio is played. One workaround is to play music through Bluetooth from the player in the background. Music will be silenced while the directions are announced.

What he said. By default it appears to want to use the telenav lady voice. I had to install/update the e-speak app for it to work properly.

Thanks for the reply. I did notice that when I played music through Pandora that the Turn by Turn directions did speak just fine. I just find it annoying that the start of the directions are missed on the Sensation 4G when it worked just fine on my Galaxy S 4G.
The voice I hear is the same and it is the lady.
As for the post that said to try and reinstall the TTS. I only have Pico TTS on my phone and I couldn't find the option to uninstall it. I looked in settings & applications and also in the Market under My app, but it doesn't show up. I'll give eSpeak a try tonight on my way home to see if that works.

Pandora locks after incoming call

The Pandora app seems to lock or have problems resuming when docked in my car (headphone jack connected to car stereo). Here is the sequence of events I am experiencing:
1. Run Pandora, music plays.
2. Call comes in, Pandora pauses.
3. Call finishes, Pandora does not resume.
4. Have to skip to next song or close / reopen Pandora.
I saw a few comments on the Play Store that this also happened to other SGS3 users. I've tried clearing cache, reinstalling Pandora, etc. but it still persists. I e-mailed the developer thru Play Store and actually got an e-mail back outlining these steps in about 10 minutes that did not seem to be a canned response, so kudos to Pandora for that! As I live in MA, it is borderline illegal for me to try to restart Pandora while driving. Cops here take 'texting while driving' to mean 'touching the phone while driving' and will ticket. Has anyone else had an issue with this and/or found a way to resolve it?
Other info that may be helpful:
Pandora is usually the only app running (sometimes I run DailyRoads Voyager for dashcaming the other Massholes that try to kill me each trip).
It happened when I was bone stock, and still persists after rooting. I am not on a custom ROM.
The phone is connected via headphone jack to my car stereo, not Bluetooth.
Pandora locks up regardless if the phone is charging or not.
Phone is always mounted 'landscape' in this dock on my dash.
Car is a '97 Buick Century Custom. (Hey, it was free, in awesome shape, and allowed me to spend money on a phone instead of a car.)
UPDATE: I've been working with one of the Pandora App devs to straighten this out. I'm really surprised that a) I got a response within minutes of e-mailing my issue, b) it wasn't some canned junk response but rather actual specific troubleshooting, and c) it seems they are honestly working to resolve this for our device. I feel even better ponying up for the PandoraONE account now! I'll keep updating as this progresses. In the meanwhile, I'd recommend e-mailing them with your issues: [email protected] .
Honestly, I think the app just isn't all that great.... I have the same issues you describe (not all the time)
I haven't come up with a way around it either...
Of course, its better than the pandora app on my blackberry, that freezes all the time...

Actually it's not the app, it's the phone. Same thing happens with the stock music player and Slacker.

Interesting, I don't have this issue at all with the stock music app; it works really well for me..
I haven't used slacker at all..

I swapped to slacker during the whole pandora sells information thing. Kept it since. But yeah, I think it's just the phone.

[Q] Music Stuttering In Every Player I Try

I have a Galaxy S3 i747 running AOKP 4.2.2. I've tried Google Play Music, Omich Player, Android Music Player, and PowerAmp. Whenever I do anything on my phone while listening to music, it skips for a second or two. By this I mean locking or unlocking it, opening an app, and sometimes doing something within an app. Its really obnoxious and is seriously ruining my enjoyment of this phone. My ROM has an overclock function, so I tried forcing the processor to go to 1.6gHz at all times, but that didn't fix it. It also has an SD card read ahead function, but even setting that as high as 4000kb had no effect. This happens whether there's zero or a dozen apps in the background. Sometimes clearing the apps cache and force closing it followed by restarting the phone helps. Also, sometimes switching to another music player whip fix it for a while before that one starts skipping too.
Is there any solution to this? I've seen other people with this problem but they either never resolve it or the solution that works for them doesn't work for me.
Perhaps
If you have AntiVirus on your mobile phone. Possible that some programs are not compatible

Nope, no antivirus
I know this sounds crazy but try using headphones with a built-in microphone. I'm almost positive that is how I fixed this issue on an older phone that had the same issue.

Issue: when listening to music then initiating a call music keeps playing

anyone have this issue besides me
Long and short listening to music in car using google music go to make a call it starts rining but the music keeps playing while ringing and during the call.
It does not happen to me, that's odd. Infact it never happened in any of my Android devices.
Is it happening always or occasionally or even after restarting? Try clearing cache for telephony and music.
Its sporatic sometime it works fine sometimes it doesnt it. It doesnt happen with my g3 but only sometimes on the z3
Yes, I have this problem. Sooo annoying. I end up having to hang up on the caller, change source in car to FM, and then return the call.
I used the Walkman music app for a while and that one worked fine (fluke?), but I pay for google music so I went back to it despite the conflict. Here's hoping it's a google music app problem or something that gets fixed with 5.0
