What's App issue on i9003 - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

I get whats app messages only after unlocking my phone. If there has been no whatsapp messages for a long time and my phone was locked and some 1 sends me a message I recieve it only after unlocking my phone. This happens only on GPRS.On WiFi I dont face this problem.Does GPRS time out after sometime? If yes,Is there a way to stop it from timing out.I DO NOT use any battery saver apps that cut the GPRS Packet data when the phone is locked.
Firmware -Latest DDKP3
Thanks in advance.

Flash xda bam's latest kernel and see if it helps

It's not a Rom bro, its a kernel, your Rom will still be stock, and yes Kies will still detect it, but be aware that your warranty will be void once you root your phone (comes included with the kernel) but you can always revert back to the stock rom easily.

Its simple,
Download the kernel 'PDA_BCK_CF-root_universal_beta10.tar' as posted in the link hellismine89 posted.
Download Odin (google it, should be easy enough to find)
Get your phone into 'Download' mode. for that, switch your phone off, and turn it on again while holding the middle button and volume down key.
Open odin, and under PDA select the kernel file you had downloaded earlier. Make sure that 'PHONE EFS CLEAR' is UNchecked! Do not check it! *VERY IMP* or you will lose your IMEI.
Just click on 'start' THAT IS ALL!

What you have posted is CF-ROOT which basically 'Roots' your phone and gives some tweaks and recovery etc, Bam's kernel is the ONLY one with the sync bug fixed and also comes with CF root... So Just flash Bam's kernel & you will be happy.

Yes my friend, all looks good, You can use either one, only difference is one comes packaged with cf root the other is without, go with the above one as you don't have to go rooting all over again.
Regarding overclock, your phone will have the capability to be overclocked, but you can choose whether you want it to be or not, just install 'no frills cpu control' from the market and select your clock speed to 1000 (stock).
Generally there is no need for a backup but, it never hurts! If you get stuck on the boot screen after flashing, don't panic, just get into recovery mode (vol up+home button+power button) and clear cache and davlik cache.

Hey mzone1510 what kernel are you using? I want to use the above one with the built-in CF root but the guy who has posted it says its not recommended.. and its not tested and stuff like that.I cant afford to brick this phone at ANY cost, hope that tells you why im asking 1 million questions. Thanks for being so patient.I'm currently on the latest DDKP3.Also if I do not download the no frills app will the phone be overclocked by default after I update the Kernel ?

I am on DDKP3 & using Bam's kernel beta 10 with cf root. Don't worry about the version with cf root, it works fine,no problems at all, and your phone will not get bricked that easily, just remember the efs thing though! Regarding overclocking I think bam has mentioned that it boots at 1000 (stock) by default but runs at 1200 for 5 secs or so. SO its not really a big deal, but its good to have no frills just to be sure.

[Q] SGS4G on GB ROM - No Call Logs!

I updated my SGS4G to GB ROM and rooted as provided on this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128412
All working fine till now EXCEPT for CALL LOGS. There are no call logs!
Here are the symptoms:
a. missed call gets registered - working normally.
b. calls made won't register - Call log empty.
c. calls received won't register - Call log empty.
Is it just me or everybody is facing the same problem?? Please and Thanks in advance!
How do I fix this issue?
P.S: Non-rooted GB ROM also showing the same symptoms, not that the rooted ROM has anything to do with it, just mentioning.
~Androcton.
Call Logs working fine with me, installed busybox and root is confirmed. Although I am having problems with the Bluetooth icon in the Notification area, everytime I click it it force closes and hides my notification bar

KF2 Update
Updated to KF2 and there seems to be a couple fixes including the bluetooth crash fix.
One issue found both in KF1 and KF2
Connect a regular headset to SGS4G phone and the inbuilt microphone gets disabled, the other party can’t hear you talking at all. Ideally, the phone microphone should be enabled if it detects a regular 3.5mm stereo jack. And it should disable the microphone only when it detects the handsfree with microphone. It should be able to do this. Froyo didn’t have this problem. This is an injected defect in Gingerbread.
No call logs
i have updated my firmware to gingerbread and now i have no call logs on my phone ....
Galaxy S 4G
Incoming calls are registered but outgoing are not.

Try the VUVKF2 ROM - some fixes from KF1 and the call log issue sure looks like it is fixed
Also FYI,,, the music playing when i remove/plugin the headphone glitch has also been removed....
Running the VUVKF1 gingerbread rom and the call logs are fine. Didn't notice that the bluetooth button in the notification bar caused FC until brought up lol.
Where do i get it?
Is there stable KF2 Firmware that i can use ?
And where can i get it ?
The one that i use is from samfirmware.com
It says that it is a T-Mobile FW.
Can some one point me to a KF2 FW that is from T-Mobile?
Also is there a way to go back (Just in case) to Froyo 2.2.1 that i had before ?
Thanks Guys!

There is a stable KF2 from Tmobile( more stable than KF1). Here is the link below.
Leaked KF2 ROM with all bloatware from T-Mobile
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139326
The procedure you have to follow to root is here,
(but download the KF2 ROM package from the 1st link)
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131230
Finally to root KF2, use the zimage-root-patch from this link
--> http://pradeepclicks.com/sgs4g/zImage-root/zImage
Follow everything to the letter from link 1 and you should be all fine.
Note: If you face problems getting into download mode using the Vol-, Vol+, USB cable method, Follow one of the methods mentioned in this link below.
--> http://www.samsunggalaxysforum.com/samsung-galaxy-s-rooting/download-mode-recovery-mode/

OK, so if i do not have to root, i can just flash my device with odin?

Yes, You can just flash the ROM with ODIN, exactly like you did for KF1, except for the bootloader part, which will NOT be present. KF1 bootloaders are just fine. Just keep in mind that to get to the download mode is a little different because GB has a changed key sequences Refer to the link that I posted earlier if you face problems getting into download mode.
There are 2 files in the rar, one is the rom and the other is DLL
I am not quite sure which package you picked up, if you downloaded from the link I posted, you would be getting a *.tar.md5 file which you would be 'ODIN'ing like you did for KF1.
So how do i use this exactly, what options should i check in odin?
Exactly like you did for KF1.
I have the KF1 installed, if that helps.
Personally, I prefer heimdall, because you know what exactly you are flashing because you are selecting it manually each time ( like modem, cache, zimage, etc etc)
Again, the SGS4G BIBLE is the perfect thing for you to start. ODIN or HIEMDALL - it describes you how to go about it.

I am very grateful for your help, but this last post just got me more confused than i was before.
When i flashed the first time there were more files so i saw this guide :
droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-odin-flash-updateupgrade-samsung.html
It showed me what options to select in odin and what files to pick.
This rom has 2 files, so its different, all i need to know is how to use what i have.
The link you gave me is awesome, but it just confusing me with this endless info about everything. it is hard to find what i need to do EXACTLY in my current situation.
Can you please just tell me what options to select in odin ?
THANKS.

Ok, here it goes, the SS_DL.dll is useless, as far as I know. You can ignore it. And you can procede with the flash using the other file *.tar.md5 . And follow the instructions provided in the link that you followed earlier to flash KF1. That should get you going. Hope it helps.

Just the options in ODIN.
Do i select this file as Bootloader or Phone ?

Why sometimes its several files and sometimes its just one?
Thanks, i hope that i am not getting on your nerves, but you WILL help me i know!

[Odin]Stock EH17 Odexed with CWM 3.1.0.1/Root/Busybox 1.19

First of all thanks to samfirmware. Odin this to get odexed stock EH17 with the purple CWM 3.1.0.1, latest root and su binary and Busybox 1.19.
Removed Asphalt Demo to make space for Busybox. Attached if you really want it.
Odin tar:
MD5: 417acf5bc49568fc3ca5505d04e9eed8
http://dev-host.org/gf9qor3y1btg/Odexed-Rooted-CWM-Busybox-EH17.tar

MD5: 7f574b567aa420e36c127d27e180a3f9
http://www.multiupload.com/W4AOLDRP52
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have installed the proper XP or Win7 drivers before starting. Also, remove the SD card from the phone (this may not be necessary, but having the SD card installed has caused Odin to fail for a number of people, so might as well just do it).
1. Extract the contents of the zip file to a folder
2. Open odin
3. Put your phone in download mode (Shut it off, wait for lights to all go out, then hold 1 on the keyboard while powering up)
4. connect phone (you should see odin put a Com4 or something like that in the first box. The actual number is NOT important what is important is something popped up there when you connected your device, meaning ODIN can see it)
5. The only box that should be checked is Auto Reboot.
6. You do not need to choose a pit file.
7. In the PDA Section choose the tar file. (Should be the sph-d700-****-8Gb-REL.tar)
8. Hit start. It will do its thing.
9. If it fails than try a new cable.
10. If the phone hangs for any reason take the battery and sdcard out and let it sit for an hour. Put it back together and try again.
Awesome thanks .. Cant wait

No problem I might port it over depending on how the rumors go for an official update.
I look forward to a deodexed version with AIO as well once that gets around. I feel like EH18 will be the official since they never leak the official. But this will hopefully stop the memory leaks and random reboots.

I recommend just making an account. It's free and I'm guessing you won't go past 20 GB.
If you don't register, then you only get 1 GB.
Only cost $5.00 on PayPal for a donate version for a year which gives you a few more benefits.
Thanks for this!

I have no idea why this Epic is randomly rebooting. But it's really inconvenient.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/266817/ocs.android.72727.log
that was what popped up on the sdcard. I can't figure out how to read it. I am assuming that's the file the phone is creating when it reboots **RANDOMLY** several times a day.
if you can't read that, tell me how I can get the log that the phone SHOULD be creating when it reboots randomly... or a way to figure out why it's going this.
So this is still leak right? Not an official release yet?

Delete files, please wait ?????

My phone (GT-I5800) is stuck with the above message on screen.
Here is the history.
1 - Flashed XXJPU which was OK
2 - Rooted with Superoneclick which reported OK, but also reported insufficient space to install superuser and busybox.
3 - Went to Play store and downloaded superuser.
4 - Phone hung trying to install superuser.
5 - Pulled battery and phone would not boot. Just stopped at Samsung GT- I5800 splash screen.
6 - Can get into download mode OK so reflashed XXJPU
7 - ODIN reported PASS but phone gets to install screen saying "Delete files, please wait" and just sits there forever.
Hopefully someone can see my errors and help out please?
I always had errors when trying to root XXJPU as well. JPU is quite buggy for me so it might be a firmware problem. Try flashing XXJPS.
You can download JPS from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497261

I'm using Odin 4.42 and fw from Sammobile.
I place ops package and put fw into the one file box.
Put phone into download mode and connect to PC.
Wait for yellow box then hit start
Odin returns a PASS but when phone reboots it just stops.
I think if I could get to recovery to reset and delete cache I might get some luck but can't get to recovery mode either....
Try using Odin 4.252 because that's the one I use. Download XXJPS from this thread. Make sure you have the right ops file name "apollo_0531.ops". Make sure you open Odin by right clicking and then clicking on "Run as administrator" and in Odin make sure you tick all the boxes EXCEPT the "Debug ONLY" box. Then click Start and wait and see. Also, after the ROM has been flashed the phone should automatically go into recovery and wipe the data and cache so you don't need to worry about that. Apart from what I've mentioned above, there is nothing wrong with your flashing process and everything should go smoothly.
Perfect, thanks for your time. All working normally again now
Can I ask your advice on rooting pls? Is Superoneclick OK to use?
Thanks again
Yes it is fine to superoneclick but I don't think its necessary since rooting itself doesnt affect the phone too much. You would have to root, then flash a custom kernel, add some tweaks/mods etc. to make a difference in performance so it would be much easier just staying unrooted if you are fine with the performance or just flash a custom ROM if you think the stock ROM is slow.
You should try out a CR based on Froyo. They are really advanced and give you all Froyo can give you. Fast phone, long battery live and everything works.

[GUIDE] Rooting your Huawei Ascend Mate

Hi Folks,
we at the Recieved my Huawei Ascend Mate Threat thought of make it easier for future or new HAM users to root their phone.
For that i reread the whole Threat and extracted the various mentioned rooting options.
IMPORTANT!
Rooting with any of the mentioned methods obviously voids your warranty.
I think that everybody knows this by now, but I'm not responsible if something goes wrong
Having said these standard stuff lets kick off!
First I start with the Method I used and many others, and i think this is the simples rooting method i ever came across.
The easiest is Rooting your HAM with eRoot
1) Get the eRoot Programm from Version 1.2 <- This Works till B221
1.1) For Higher Firmware Versions, like the new B905 use eRoot Version 1.3.4
2) Dig in your phone and enable usb debugging in developer options and in security enable unknown origin
3) Hook up your phone the your rig and on ask select MTP mode and install the Huawei HiSuite (phone drivers )
4) fire up eroot and let it find your phone, if it does hit root ...
5) reboot and that should be it
Confirmed to work on multiple Build Stages of the Stock Rom which currently is sporting version B221
Be aware that if your phone is bone stock you should firstly update the phones software to the newest possible version ...
-> B221 before rooting, otherwise it can cause problems
Second Rooting Method mentioned by PowerMan572
Detailed Instructions Here
i believe syaah used successfully this method
Third Method

this folder contains the rooting guide and app including the RootAssisstant v2.0. easy method of rooting and can be use for both chinese firmware and international firmware regardless of rom versions. rootassisstant v2.0 is in chinese but no need to worry as we need only to click one box in it. superuser is stable and can be updated in google play. hopefully can help as this is the first and stable method all the suppliers of HAM in China use and provided to their customers.

Most of the time yes, but it really depends on which carrier you are (if you bought the phone with a contract) or where you bought it (which Store).
With eRoot you can if you rootet it with it, unroot your phone again.
Thank u very much .. you put the juice in one cup ..
Much easier to find .. more threads to subscribe

Thanks for the threat.
I'm about to root my HAM with Eroot, I have 3 questions before I do :
1. Any bizarre things happen after rooting with Eroot? Like FC? App missing? etc... (seen people having issues or not after rooting)
2. Would I be able to get OTA updates after rooting? What about a custon recovery? If I install CWM recovery, would I be able to apply OTA updates? If not, would unrooting the HAM allow me to OTA update my phone (then root again afterward)?
3. If something goes wrong while rooting, would I be able to install offcial B113 ROM from SD so I would go all fresh again like I first got the HAM out of the store?
Thanks for your advices.
Have a good one.
Cheers

In some cases we heard in the big Threat Here That you run into trouble witth OTA and root. So we all suggest that the rooting process should be initiated after you upgraded to the desired Firmwareversion.
As im aware there is currently no "real" meaning permanent CWM Recovery present. Only a sideload Recovery, some features didn't work properly, but I assume they manage that.
OTA Updates: I think it's the easiest to unroot it with eRoot and then root it again after the OTA

Thanks Onecton for all the inputs, really helpful !
One last question though, I downloaded Eroot v1.2 from the OP, proceeded as indicated, installed HiSuite, PC drivers etc., tried few times to plug my phone when Eroot told me to, but eachtime failed by getting "creating process failed" message, looked like Eroot couldn't recognize my phone... Oh, I'm on latest official OTA B221 FW.
So I went searching over the internet, found there was a Eroot v1.3.3, really not sure if it's official, cos there was (only) v1.2 official app from eroot.me (holy moly ! eroot.me website is gone !!! it's a online sim unlock codes site now ! What happened?), so, with this v1.3.3, it recognized my phone within a second.
Before I clic on that root button, just wanted to check with you experts if the Eroot v1.3.3 is legitimate, or is it some sort of fake app out there.
Thanks again !
Have a nice day.

Dafuq? eroot.me is gone? Thanks for the heads up, i will change the link accordingly and reroute the link to my dropbox.
Sorry for that
with eroot 1.2 i wasnt able to root too if i recall correctly.... i fired up the 1.2 version it immediately wanted to upgrade, or something. So i let it pull it's update and it worked like a breeze then.
Regarding your version, i really don't know if it is fake or not sorry but what i can say is that i'm fixing the link and it should be up and running again in approx. 4 min.
eRoot link is fixed :highfive:
if you can wait till there, you have most definately the ledigt version :highfive:
also i'm by far no expert and i don't deserve to be called like that :victory:

I've downloaded v.1.2 form your original link way before the site is gone (it was yet there 2 days ago!), so no need to be sorry for that
I also fired up v.1.2 like you did, it started to update itself by downloading quite amount of data like you said, but when the update is done, it gave me that error message No such thing with v.1.3.3, it doesn't download anything and recognized my phone immediately... I saw there's even a v.1.3.4 out there!

hi,
manage to download B905 android 4.2.2 rom (presently chinese firmware only). flashed it and seems stable.
i am able to root using EROOT v1.3.4 thanks to you onecton. totally easy and lightning fast rooting procedure.
i downloaded GAPPS (links provided by svvv) which are stable and suitable for the rom.
now everything seems fine and no issue for now.
just want to update.
EROOT v1.3.4 is a 'go' to use (maybe older version can be used too).
Gapps link by svvv is also good to go. and,
both links by dandybq and mixterz are also good to go.
thanks.

Rooted Huawei Mate
I just rooted my Huawei Ascend Mate, I got rid of some bloatwares on the phone such as Kingsoft Office and the language packs.
However, my internal memory size did not increase.
Just wondering,
1) did Huawei divide the 8gb internal memory into 2 parts, 4gb each? the ROM and usage internal memory (detected as SD2, my external SD detected as SD1)
2) How do I install into the Rom part?
this is a weird phone!

My guess is that the 8 GB are indeed divided... But i wouldnt recommend trying to install something in that system reserved space. My guess is that the caches and the ram resides there.
But I am no expert on that stuff.
Maybe its better to post these specific questions over in the main thread .
But in some aspects this is indeed a weird phone

Hi onecton.
Do you think we can use the Rom Cleaner which is also provided in universal use (i guess), to clean up bloatware during installation of rom?
:- about obsidian question, im too think that the ham 8gb is divided coz we have only around 5-6 gb of usage. Maybe the system files resides there. At least we still can use 64gb microcard as expandable memory.
Thanks.

well this sounds tempting ^^ but i don't know.... maybe i read a bit more into it... since i really like the stock 4.2.2. experience... i found that huawei is really generous with its base system, you can just freeze some of the Emution stuff like the lockscreen, still i would like to prefer a bone stock 4.2.2. or 4.1.2. simply because i don't like that OEM overlay ..

[Q] need help using cwm

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. So I'm new to rooting and new to xda, I looked around the forums a bit but am unable to find exactly what I'm looking for. I have a Sprint note 3 smn900p. I successfully rooted it using towelroot and confirmed with root checker. I then downloaded Rom manager and used it to download cwm. Here is where I need help, I boot up my phone and this is what I get. (Volume down, home button, and power)
Odin mode
Smn900p
Samsung official
0x0
0x1 (towelroot did not trip this, it was either RM or CWM)
Qualcom secure boot enable (csb)
Rp swrev s1 t1 a1 a3 p1
Write protection enable
Udc start
At the bottom it says "downloading" and "do not turn off target"
That's where it stays and the only way to get rid of it is to do a battery pull.
Now if I hold volume up, home button, and power this is what it says.
Recovery booting
recovery is not seandroid enforcing
Set warranty bit enforcing.
Phone then starts up normally.
I am trying to do all of this without a computer because I don't always have access but any help at all is appreciated. The main reason I am rooting is to get free wifi tethering for my note 10.1 and after that possibly getting rid of the bloatware and overclocking the cpu.
Again thanks to all the developers and anyone else who makes this possible. You guys (and girls) rock!

You use Volume DOWN+Home+power button to flash firmware by USB using Odin program or restore original firmware using Samsung Kies.
The only way you can exit the Odin mode is remove the battery or after having successfully flash a firmware.
You use Volume UP+Home+power button to enter recovery mode. In recovery, you may be able to perform:
- backup of the entire OS and data of the phone.
- recover from a backup in case you encounter any problem flashing a custom rom, etc.
- perform a full wipe or factory reset
- install custom rom or firmware file saved on phone memory or external SD card.
You may use ROM toolbox to remove unwanted bloatware and overclock or underclock your device.
Please hit thanks if I helped.

It's not clear from your post whether your really installed CWM recovery. Use Odin (download mode) to flash tar.gz version of CWM (or TWRP). Search for the links yourself. Then you can enter CWM with vol up+home+power combo.
There on, you can flash any (other) recovery or ROM from phone itself via CWM (or TWRP or Philz).

Yeah, it is possible to flash ROM using your phone memory or external SD card thru Recovery mode (Vol UP+Home+Power).
I suggest you use [root] Mobile Odin Pro (this can be downloaded on play store) if you want to flash kernel/ROM without going to recovery mode. It is also safer to use than flashing in download mode.
For a more user friendly recovery, try using Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP).
It is touch-based recovery. Easier to use.
Please hit thanks if I helped.
Ok so I'm going to download twrp, if I did in fact download cwm will these interfere with each other. Also once I download twrp do I have to open it on my phone or just flash it through recovery mode or through mobile Odin pro. (Sorry for the basic, probably stupid questions)

I flash mine using mobile odin. It will replace CWM.
Download the TAR file save it on your external SD.
Open odin.

Your phone will reboot in recovery.
Ok so I bought Mobile odin pro from the play store now if I want to flash a Kernel to my device I would need to find it on here and then download it correct or I could find a rom with the kernel already on it and flash the whole thing and would I be able to find it on mobile odin or rom toolbox? Thanks again you guys are so helpful taking it baby steps with me.
What I meant on my previous post was I flash my recovery which is TWRP using mobile odin.
I suggest you flash TWRP recovery first using odin. Perform backup in TWRP before flashing any ROM in case anything goes wrong, you may be able to go back to the original state of your device.

defiantly follow the previous reply and backup first (very important).
i personally dont download roms etc from apps. i prefer to find it manually on the forum, so you know you have the correct, most up to date file for your device. also, you can read other users post to get an idea of how its working and the possible problems with it.
Ok sorry I took soo long to respond, work has been busy. So I Bought Wifi Tether Router for $2.50 which is still better than 10 extra dollars a month. It works, granted it takes a long time to start up and im not using the stock tether that is included with the phone which would have been great but it gets the job done and I have no complaints. This was one of the main reasons I wanted to root my phone. Anyway I guess when I have some more time to mess with it I will try flashing roms/kernels (I am just soo afraid of hard bricking my phone) but you guys gave some pretty clear instructions so I don't think I'll have a problem. As soon as I get a chance to do some messing around I will let you guys know how it went. Thanks again hopefully one day I will be able to return the favor.
Ok just double checked and now I need to ask another question. Mobile Odin states that my reactivation lock needs to be turned off but when I go to settings, general, security, there is no option to turn it off. It doesn't even show it in the list. Do I absolutely need to turn it off, would it be somewhere else?

i dont know exactly, but through some research it looks like you could run into issues with a custom recovery. i can only assume a rom would be the same.
That really sucks, I'm gonna try and hopefully find a way around it but until then I guess I'm gonna have to wait. Would you happen to know how to check and see if it's activated? (Besides the normal spot in security that it should be)

sorry, i don't know. i had to google search to find the previous information.
What device do you use? Have you enabled this feature (reactivation lock) before? I've made a research that this is an anti-theft feature of galaxy s5 and note 3 which prevents fatory reset of the phone using your samsung acccount when stolen.
I think you don't need to worry about disabling this feature if you never enabled it. I'm using galaxy s3 international version (i9300). And I also don't have this feature. Mobile odin is only reminding you that you should disable reactivation lock (in case you have one) before flashing any rom.
I "guess" reactivation lock enabled will prevent you to format certain partition in your phone since it will be password protected.
I suggest that you use TWRP or CWM when flashing ROMs that are not touchwiz based (Cyanogenmod, AOKP, etc). I only use Mobile odin when flashing recovery and flashing stock firmware. Flashing custom ROMs other than stock, in my opinion, will be safer if you do it in recovery after a backup.
I hope I answered your question.
