Totally works if you modify the build.prop. I altered model, brand, name, device, board, and manufacturer to that described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18687400&postcount=10
Got annoyed when they wouldn't even let me purchase the game under the $.49 sale in case I upgraded later. Oh well, workaround achieved.
[edit] I should have mentioned that before you do anything make a backup in CWM. Now, I'll be working on today seeing if i can freeze the app before a restore and then get it working again. Changing the build.prop can have some unforeseen consequences such as Swype having now lost its license. [/edit]
would you mind showing some proof. and if i do do it, do i just edit the lines that he has in red?

Not necessarily, what I've figured out is that at most you have to change the six lines defining the terms I mentioned in the first post. Link is just for reference.
As far as proof I might make a video when I can get around to it. Maybe even showing SixAxisController at work.

I recently changed my build.prop to "Droid3" specs so I could download and play modern combat 3, however I noticed that after I had done so, my accelerometer took a dump. Like, did not work at all.
It didn't even work after I changed my BP back to my normal Atrix2 specs. (After a reboot of course)
Luckily (thank you recovery) I had made a backup right before I changed the BP, and was able to go back in time two hours and get my accelerometer working again.
Anyone else ran into this?

I'm late to this and I'm not being an ass but it's called modern combat, not modern warfare. Sorry stuff like that just drives me nuts.

I said "modern combat" in my post....
Anyways the nexus s trick doesn't work for me. I think you need to change just more than the name in the phone.
Quite possibly board as well?
If someone has got this to really work without screwing up some important part of their phone maybe you can post it a screenie of your build?
EDIT: Or maybe can lay out all the specs required for the nexus s?

I changed my build.prop to make my phone like the Infuse. That worked for me so i can play all gameloft games games the market. The nexus s build.prop did not work so that is why i chose the infuse.

Tmease does this screw with your accelerometer or Swype? This happens with me and the only way to get it back is with a nandroid restore.

No, the Swype I am using is the actual one you get off of swype web site. I haven't had any issues at all with this set up.

Hey i was just wondering, is there any way to get and play order & chaos online for the droid charge without having to root the device? Thx for any help
Yes there is a all device ver out there (google it) the down side is that you cant use the store so you cant add game time or gold. When you get the app you get 3 free months so lets hope it gets support before then.

Works perfectly! Thanks a bunch.
Can you help me out with a little more step by step please.
Im able to download the game from the market by changing my build prop... hence my sig below, but when I run it, it gets stuck after the first splash screen, at an hour glass type icon.... actually its the spinning circle.
Thanks
Edit. Btw, im running humble FROYO if that makes a difference.

All you have to do is change your build.prop file in /system to:
Instead of your device being i510, change it to i500. I'm playing O&C right now.

I got it to work. What the problem seemed to be, was the 600-700mb download over wifi was corrupt. I redownloaded, and now it works fine now.

Uninstall everything.
Delete all data related to the game.
Change build.prop lines to i500
Redownload and install.
Redownload the massive data package over WIFI.
Play game.
Exactly. It will work on this phone. I have to add, this game is freaking awesome. I've been waiting for a mobile version of WoW for years, but I certainly did not expect such a close copy! Lol.
Either way, it brings me back to my WoW days, and it fits in my back pocket.

I remember that is what we did to get it to work on other unsupported devices, but it wasn't a guarantee. If you were feeling up to it, check and see what devices close to ours are supported and then try editing the build.prop. If I remember it is changing 2 lines of text, the Manufacturer and the Model. As long as you make a backup of you original you should be OK, but I just don't like doing that sort of thing until I have a way to get back to stock safely.

backing up and restoring system data is fine if you dont switch roms or even switch to a different version of the same rom (sometimes its ok, sometimes not)
i have done it, but its typically not recommended.

if you backup system data from one rom and restore to another, when you reboot you will get nothing but force closes. you will have to reflash your rom to fix it.
if you are flashing the same version of the rom and just want all your stuff the same, it shouldnt affect anything

USER data is perfectly safe to backup. i get sick of so many people spreading untruths around about TiBu (i have seen tons)....backing up and restoring USER DATA AND APPS is perfectly fine. I have been using Titanium Backup for over a year and a half and have had more mobile devices in that timeframe than most have ever had in their lives, and every one of them i was able to use Titanium Backup to restore apps+data from OTHER devices to each other. hell, i share the same TiBu folder between my gs2, incredible s, and my vivid right now. then i have a modified version of the same folder for my galaxy tab (removed all phone-related apps)
^^^^^ this
I've migrated app backups through 3 different android phones, no problems. As for system data, bad idea. Entering your email address is far easier than reflashing a rom because of fc's
I am running stock 2.3.6 and it is rooted. I am wanting to change the icons for some of the stock apps. I have done this plenty of times before with a couple of my other phones and i know how to do this. I am not used to Motorola software and i am having a hell of a time locating where these icons are stored at. I'm wanting to change the Text Messaging app icon and the Email app icon. Usually they are in the system/app with the app itself. I have dug around in this location and can't seem to come up with anything. If someone could give me a location of these two icons i would greatly appreciate it.

Using that app is for guys like me who have no intention of learning the guts of Android, but you seem like a guy who wants to learn that stuff so it makes sense you'd go about it the way you did. Glad it worked for you though, it's a pretty nifty app that can be used for more than just changing icons too, def a must have for any Android user IMO.
I like to actually do personal theming with roms by actually tearing a rom apart on my computer and changing things. I really don't like just getting things off of the market to do theming. It's a little too easy . Since we are limited with the a2 as far as roms go i haven't really got into it as much as i did with my infuse or my captivate. Once i start learning more about motorolas software ill get back into it. Thanks again for your help, that app is pretty good.

I have another question regarding the apk itself this time. I am a big swype person and I have a big collection of swype apks that are themed. I am wanting to get rid of any traces of Swype from being a system apk, that way i can install any of the swype apks that i store on my sd card without any hassle. Now, i have uninstalled the stock swype, i got rid of the com.swype file that is in the data/data folder. The phone still sees it as a system apk. Does anyone know where there might be a file or a text telling the phone that it is a system apk?

I've had a problem with my skyrocket for quite some time now. No matter which radio, ROM, or kernel I use the data will be hit and miss and so won't phone calls and messaging. I've already had one skyrocket replaced because of this issue and even got a replacement SIM card to no avail. I get full bars of H+ service. I've tried adding different APNs as well. The AT&T store is obviously stumped (they are basically worthless) and phone support is no better. I was wondering if anyone knew of this problem and what caused it or a way to fix it.
