Native apps problems - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi.. i just figured i cant install or use any native apps
i tried installing DFT BT Transfer via PC and got this error :
"Nullable object must have a value"
so i tried installing it via IE from the phone.. phone says installed but no icon in menu..
and when i try to open pre-installed native apps from custom rom they close themselves..
what should i do?!
help me.. i really need BT File Transfer

The first and obvious question would be what phone and what ROM you have. The next would be whether you've done any other kind of modifications.
Also, some homebrew apps install in the Settings hub. Have you checked there?

i have Mozart and using NextGen+ 2.6.. i didnt modify anything.. i also try DeepShining and CustomV9 roms but i have problem with them too..
yes i checked there.. nothing..

i cant install DFT BT Transfer in any rom.. i tried Deepshining, Nextgen, CustomV9 roms.. some native apps like MPATools doesnt work in any rom either.. what is the completest way to reset phone!? Hardreset? is there any completer method?!

Really?! No one know how to fix this?!

Restore driver from console

Hi there,
In one of the topics here, I found a program to rotate the screen of my Qtek 8300. This required the use of another video driver.
When installing the driver, I chose to install in to my storage card. This turned out not to be a very wise choice. When I ran the program, and switched to the other driver, my phone rebooted.
However, now it does not boot anymore. It hangs while displaying the blue Qtek startup screen. It probably can't find the new driver. My thoughts on how to fix this (excluding a hard reset) are either:
-starting up with some sort of "safe mode". Does WM5 support this, and if so, how can I enter this mode?
-moving the driver from my storage card to the internal memory of the phone via the bootloader console. Is this possible?
Can anyone please tell me whether either of these options has a chance of working? I would appreciate it a lot .
you dint follow the instructions on how to install the rotation app i bet you dint install the certificates the developer clearly states that if you don't install the specified certificates it will make you hard reset thus, you will have to reinstall the rom on your phone. its your only option mate sry
I read the topic but there was no mention of certificates. Of course my phone is unlocked to accept strange apps, but that's probably not what you mean.
go to the rotation tool post and search for the guide i made it has the links for them
Are you sure? Will have another look then.
This was a nice opportunity to upgrade to WM6 . Too bad though I lost my contacts etc.

yes only thing different is that the phone can use any sim card
"and does alll the features still work the same?"
yes
" also can i use the browser just by connecting to wifi?"
yes
"also how do i put apps on da tilt?"
cab files transfered to the phone and run from there or exe run from the pc which use activesync to auto tranfer the cab file to the phone and run them there
"also wat are ROMs? and Radios?"
rom == the operating system in this case windows mobile which is flashed into a otherwise
readonly part of the storage
radio == radio rom == the firmware os which handle the gsm phone part of the system

I've experienced this too. Sometimes helps softreset after download and then install.
I have tried hard reset and soft. Every app from the market place does the same thing. Download then failed install. Also when I plug the usb in, my computer doesnt recongnize. Such a newb.
do you have activesync on your computer ?
Yes, activesync doesnt recongnize either.

it is an usb recognized issue ... first uninstall active sync then install it again then launch it then plug your phone and wait untill the installation of your new hardware installation finished ..
for the market place check your settings and make the installation on device ... maybe you have it on storage card and you have issue with storage card ... and also try app confirmed to be working for hd2

[Q] unlock and install apk

Hi,
I have rooted captivate running default ATT os eclair android.
I am unable to get it to connect to wifi hotspot (adhoc, open) in my laptop. HTC G1 connects fine to it. I just do not understand why captivate cannot connect.
So to install apk I tried sdcard route but says blocked. In Application menu I do not see any option to allow unknown sources like I see in HTC G1 which is running cyanogenmod.
since wifi does not work I cannot install using market. since unknown sources is not an option available in phone menu I cannot install either.
any alternatives ?
1) should install another rom like cyanogenmod ?
Regards,
Miten.

This will allow you to enable sideloading:
http://pocketnow.com/android/how-to-enable-app-sideloading-on-the-att-samsung-captivate
It worked for me and was easy to follow.
Hi,
sideloading itself needs installing apk. I have issue in first place that of phone not letting install from sdcard due to it not being from Android Market and wifi does not connect me to my local home hotspot.
do I need to have some sim in phone to get wifi to work ? I have been trying without having sim in phone since I know my sim is not ATT and the phone is locked currently to ATT and that unlocking is what I am trying to get done.
Regards,
Miten.
You need Superoneclick. It will root your phone, and it will also change the settings to allow for 3rd party apps.

[Q] Wifi problem - tried lots of combinatons

Hello everybody. I've tried lots of combinations of ICS and Kernels so far on my Nexus S, but wifi is working on none of them. Have anyone faced the same problem before? what are the solutions?
Thanks in advance
explain? what is it doing? (no wifi?) greyed out? not connecting? i had a wifi error, i sent it back to samsung, and they fixed it for me...best option..
It is Samsung Nexus S with gingerbread 2.3.3. I tried AndroidMe ICS, NexusBeam ICS and different kernels like matr1x, sg-ns-ics, glados but wifi is not working. It cannot search and find networks.
I'd suggest doing a full wipe. Dalvik cache, cache, factory reset also and reinstall a ROM with a suitable radio/kernel and you should be good. I had a similar issue but was putting ROMs on Roms, eventually it got messed.
i have same problem here. on ICS (cm,nb,dx,andoridme) wifi do not work
and on GB its work perfect
i sloved wifi problem with this apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445766
when you install on/off wifi and reboot its work for me

you can install via adb
download android sdk
move your apk to sdk/tools/
connect USB to PC switch on USB Debugging
run CMD type adb devices to see if device is correctly connected
type adb install d:\sdk\tools\appname.apk
