Unable to post reply in x10 forum what should I do?

Top of your page it should say:
To unlock all capabilities of XDA, we ask that those of you with higher level skills make 10 helpful posts. If you are unable to help others, please post only relevant new questions or observations. Low quality posts will be deleted, especially when made simply to get to the 10 post threshold.
I assume this forum is one of the locked ones?

I'm also part of this new member minimum. I have been able to post before but had to change my account so now I'm stuck having to wait 10 posts before posting in the Dev section.
You started off well by posting your question here, but I see that the majority of you just want to 'ask a developer' something.
Questions do not belong in Development forums. Period.
Many of the site's Developers come into Q&A regularly specifically to answer your questions.
If your question is specific to a single device, ask it in the Q&A forum for that device, not in the Development section itself. You stand a much better chance of getting a proper answer (and not getting flamed) if you ask your questions in here.
You are welcome to post your questions in this thread, and I will provide whatever help I can, or point you in the right direction. There is so much information available here that there's a good chance your questions have been answered many times over already.
We all need to do our little bit to keep the material in Development sections clear and concise, regardless of what we see others doing
Cheers!

I dont like the10 post rule..i have an issue i need to get sorted and dont wanna run around posting in random things so i can post in the specific thread :S
We are all treated as babies and we must prove ourselves
---------- Post added at 09:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:47 PM ----------
Moreover we should not rush. We must wait 5 minutes between post
I think posts on threads count too. New threads are referred to as "Topics" on this site =S

I too think is kinda sucks to have to post 10x first but rules are rules. Been flashing for months now mainly Darky's but now switch about once a week.
I particularly enjoy this 10 post start up. It puts a pressure on people that don't belong to leave. I just bought a Skyrocket moving over to android from my iPhone 3GS and I've found this site incredibly efficient.
Its understandable don't want PPL running up the Dev sections with question anyway answered

i don't like this rule too
That thing is weird...
I have an 8 post shortfall and want to contact a developer with what will be a common question, so I have to send a PM when a reply would be much more effective.
Suggested alternative:
- Restrict 'New topic' function to those with > 10 posts
- Allow thread starters to moderate their thread.

Yeah, I find this pretty frustrating too. I've always been a lurker on these forums because I hate posting just to post (read: get my count over 10), but the only forums I go in are the developer forums where I'm not allowed to post.
There was a time when a user was having a serious issue with his Kindle (I think, this was a while back), and I had the solution (I had the same problem a few days prior), but I couldn't post publicly even though it could have helped other people in the future (like when the original poster replies with the solution, not just "Nevermind, I fixed it" like you'll find on relevant forums all over the web).
But, alas, XDA wants to keep the noobs out and will sacrifice helpful content in order to do so.

Well, the simple fact is, the kindle fire issue should have been in the Q&A section. The only posts meant to go in Development threads are bug reports, not "OMG now my device isn't working!"
That right there is the exact reason they want users to wait 10 posts. So they can get a feel for the forums, and try to catch on a little bit. Instead of crying about 10 posts, go to the Q&A section and help 10 people out. Surely if you know enough to post in the dev section, you can handle that.

Actually this was a single reply in a very long thread regarding development, and how to get started developing. IIRC it was mac specific, so it was very relevant to the already existing topic. I PM'd the user instead.
And I can handle posting before they let me into the dev forums. But look at what I'm doing right now, responding to things that don't necessarily NEED a response, and posting to silly "how many devices have you rooted" threads.
Edit: I'm 90% sure this was the person I was trying to help. Had to do with the SDKs.

Must "Remember Me"
I had a very similar issue. Whenever I would try to post to any thread or even subscribe to a thread, I would get a screen asking me to log in even though I was already logged in. Logging in on that page simply looped back to the 'not logged in' page (infinite loop). I tried logging out and back in, and resetting my password with no change. I then tried to log in to the main page again and checked the 'Remember Me' option. Everything began to work as expected. FYI, this occurred using Google's Chrome Browser in Windows. I did not try any others.
I've written 33posts excluding this and still can't reply this thread. I'm writing this with my SGP.
I've found that when I see the vbulletin message, it automatically log out for that page, but when I click the "xdadevelopers" it says "Welcome, .."
Help (((

my case is simular I am runnig the DEV;s rom and a patch he made doesn't work for me and I wanted to report it to him
I am frustrated
Well i am testing some roms from xperia x10 mini pro forum, and would like to post some bugs founded.
But after reading all forum rules, I got frustrated with the need about 10 general post to be able to post in developer forums.
But if this is a rule of the forum so who am I to criticize this decision.
thanks at all

Cannot reply threads

I noticed that I cannot reply in all threads when I logged in successfully. When i click reply, it show like below image.
Enter username & password again. That log in page shows again.
Help me to resolve that problem. Thanks.
====================================================================================================
I cannot reply so i edit my post.
@kriticar: Did you see my post count man? Thanks for your reply.
Well there is a rule that prevents new users to post directly to the developer's forums.
Idea is good, but if you are just a new user not a novice, it's a bit stupid.
Anyway, you have to post 10 posts to the general or q&a forums.
Probably you will end up asking some silly questions until you reach those 10 posts, but rules are rules.
Regards.
May I ask what browser you are using? This could be the problem.

Yes 10 posts so they can be sure you've done your fair share of reading the forums. A lot of redundant posts would be clogging up the blogs without the limit.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but don't you have to have ten posts, before it will let you post to every forum/thread?

It was hard to read your post (the text is small), so if I misread it, my apologies.

Hard but true, 10 posts to be allowed
You need to reply to at least ten posts here prior to being eligible to post in general population.
Great way to get everyone actively participating in threads.

Hello. That reply limit to post in the developers section is pure crap.
An idiot can post 100 times with "hello" and then write anything in the developer's forums.
I was searching for an answer to my problem and I only found users with the same problem, asking for help.
I found the solution to their problem on my own (some ROM's are just missing Busybox, etc.), but I cannot post it there because of that rule. Since I'm not an active user of your forums, I guess you're not missing much with me )
Too bad for them. I won't bother to post ten times just to be able to help them.
+1 here )
Enjoy and rethink your rules. Cya.

Actually not, someone who posted "hello" would likely be spotted and reported fairly quickly long before 100 posts and have their posts deleted by one of the mods. The rules are in place to prevent spam for the most part, but it also tries to get people to become active and contributing community members in order to understand the types of posts that belong in the dev threads and which types of posts don't before they start asking all of their support questions there where they don't really belong.
There are lots of other forums out there, but none as good as XDA. Hopefully your attitude about being a community member will be improved if you come back. We will be right here.

Hi. Just to see if have right to post here...
u need min 10 posts and then i think u have to relogin.

Account limitations and captchas!!!

So, i'm member for quite a long time (not including the hours i've spent without logging in!) and the post limitation is just of no use.
Mostly I browse through XDA in matters of need.
I Reply only in a topic of my interest, not just posting [email protected] so I can lift the 10 posts limitation.
Right now I'm trying to reply in a developer thread for a software that I've found a solution to a program error
and I can't post it because of my 10 post limitation.
IMO post count just doesn't work the way it supposed to.
It keeps away some people that want and know how to help in a problem but they are very irritated because they can't post.
And what's with the 9-digit captchas? I feel like I'm being punished!
P.S: I just tried to edit my post and guess what? I had to wait another 5 minutes...
It's got to be really easy to make 10 posts, there are loads of general discussion thread you could participate in.

[Completed] [Q] Is it possible to change my username on here?

Hello, I was just wondering if its possible to change my username. My current one is pretty long with random numbers and want to change it to something more simple. Can I change it? If so how? Thanks
Also it says I need to post 10+ posts so I am not considered a new member. I am guessing posting on here will count and will count as 1 post?
Yes your post on the XDA Assist Forum counts as one post. The threads below will answer your questions .
