@luna_c666 I'm kind of noob with this stuff and saw your post too late so instead of downloading the file i rebooted into recovery to make a backup, and then after reboot it just disappeared then i've checked manually for update trough settings-> about tablet -> system firmware update , but no luck.
My TF is B60 if it's matters.

If it's an OTA update, it will probably still be in /cache. You can copy it from there, although I don't know if all file managers will see it.
However, you might have the stock firmware on your external sd card- I think that is what generates that message.

Yeah, but i didn't download it. I thought that after nandroid backup, the update will still be there, but as I mentioned already the message disappeared.
Is there a log or something for this kind of messages?

Yep got the same notification today here in UK WW. I'm using the rooted stock ROM from our DEV section.( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514658 )
Not going to run it tho as I'm @ a conference so don't want to rock the boat.

That is exactly what it is. I had stock firmware on my external sd card. I received this notification after booting up for the first time after performing a return to stock via the official full download from asus' website. I deleted the file off of my sd card and rebooted. The message didn't come back.

Android 3.1 Update on Wifi Only Xoom

I got an update on my WIFI ONLY Xoom today, the 3.1 update.
I hit accept and install and it restarted and just hung on the Android with the exclamation mark. I hard rebooted it and its back up on 3.0.1, and now says its up to date
:S
Any ideas? Im currently on Tiamat 1.4 , rooted
Sounds like the update failed. My guess is that it's because you're rooted and/or running a custom kernel/have made other changes to your Xoom.

There should be a file called e379f0b9bcd0.signed-tervigon-HMJ37-from-HWI69.e379f0b9.zip in your /cache/ directory. That is the 3.1 update.

[Q] Bricked friends TF

Just bricked a friends TF. Is it possible to unbrick it to stock rom ?
He just updated to latest 3.2WW ROM prior to this.
How exactly did you brick it? What were you doing at the time?
I managed to wipe all partitions .. for various reasons I ran download.sh which apparently formatted the whole TF and reformated it.
At this point I'm downloading the latest tf_rootkit_31 to get the cwm recovery image from it.. but I have my douts that this will work.
I have downloaded the last release from ASUS website and tried to nvflash on the blob files.. but it stays in APX mode..
I have PRIME 1.6r2 but I have no clue how to get this on the device .. without CWM ..
As i thought... didnt work.. but the download.sh wants system.img which I don't have.. :|
think I managed to get it unbricked.
I dumped recovery and system from my working TF101 .. seems to be booting now at least..
This thread can be locked or deleted... as mod see fit
Basically I managed to run the wrong script as I were about to root the TF. Instead of root.sh (self made) that run the needed commands to download, patch and send in the patched boot image back to the TF.
Download.sh is from someone else, don't really who.. but it does wipe the device and flash in boot.img, system.img and recovery.img ..
After fetching the needed files from a working TF101 and flashed it back to the device it is now up and running, but all apps need to be re-installed and setup again.. thankfully he made a mybackup pro backup prior to updating the device.. so I hope he'll managed to restore most of the device back to its original again.
What I love about the TF is that it seems impossible to permabrick. Glad to hear you got it going again.
Glad to hear it. I bricked mine not more than 5 hours ago, and sorted that too.
It's not very nice but you learn as you go I suppose..
(mmh I hate the new mouse-pointer )

You have to update the bootloader too. It's the EBT partition in the flash.cfg. add something like filename=blob.EBT
You can extract the EBT/bootloader partition from the blob in the 8656 update. Rayman has put out some blob tools for extraction.

You might want to update the bootloader flag in the command line too "-bl blob.EBT" I'm not positive but I think this prevents bootloops since the images are flashed with the same bootloader that it is writing.

Thanks a lot for the answers. I haven't got around to do this yet so I have some further questions.. is there a way to do this without wiping the device ?
Also it seems like his Transformer think it's a mobile phone.. eh yea it has like EMEI column and stuff in the information tab.. will the bootloader fix that too ?
the update to 8.6.5.9 didn't appear automatically so we are currently manually updating it to that release.. might fix things.. we'll see..

OTA kill?

Hi,
Is any app to block future OTA?
I'm leaving for two months, and take my tf as photos storage place.
We know ICS OTA is coming soon, I'd like to install update when back home in april.
As I remember previous OTA's it was possible to dismiss install of update, but only free times!
TF rooted.
Thank you for any ideas.

OTA update uses stock recovery to flash the update. If you have cwm the update won't install. To install stock recovery, simply flash it via cwm. It takes a whole 10 seconds. Don't worry about it, its easy. Just enjoy your trip.

Hi!
I have the following method used several times for unrooting + removing CWM recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093403
There are two ways to get updated to the latest ROM. If you use the files on the first post of the thread, upon rebooting you will get an OTA update message (if yo don't you can check for updates manually ).
The other way is to navigate to asus support page, look for the TF101, select android as OS, and under firmware you will find the latest ROMs with the info needed about how to install them.
Once again I have used both methods. The first one is probably better because you need not to download anything, but both work.
Regards.

9/16 update failed

Just got an update for my TF700T today, Jelly Bean? IDK CAUSE IT FAILED.
I am rooted, can that be the cause? can we unroot? I've done OTAs on other devices while root and it just kills root.... Why would it fail?
After it rebooted it said update failed. Then when I tried again it said "There is no update available for your device currently." WTF.
Any help would be great, thanks!

[Q] How to reset update check to re get update notification after failure

so ya.. topic says it pretty much..
bunch of us i see on the other threads are rooted had a failure and would like to attempt again, but nobody saved the ww update patch so we need to re download it..
dmclient and cmclient have been force stopped and wiped clean
/data/ files associated with updating have been removed..
rebooted and nope no new update available..
what are we missing here?
I am afraid we may have to try a factory reset although I am holding out for a better alternative.
EDIT: Do not factory reset if you are rooted! On JB factory reset will delete root.

How to restart failed 4.2.1 OTA(root required)
OTA file is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?3f13caikjfxoxpv
Copy dlpkgfile_4.2.1_Init to /cache, renaming it to dlpkgfile. Make a file in /cache/recovery named "command" with this in it:
Code:
--update_package=/cache/dlpkgfile
Boot into recovery by holding volume down and power button....then when you see text....hit the volume up button....and the update will go.
If the update fails, look at the logs in /cache/recovery to see what caused the failure.

It has been rolling out for the last two days, check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181235
We got the OTA for WW, but it failed and therefore are trying to get the OTA to reset.
So far there have been alot of issues trying to root after the 4.2.1 ota which I'm on now. Was thinking of rooting as I've done all my other devices in the passed and just recently got this one but as of now there's an issues with the new bootloader encrypting the file system so recoveries can't mount the system. I was about to root before read that and unlocked my bootloader but i guess my question is is there any way to reflash the stock bootloader to lock it again as i also read that you can lose future otas after unlocking it. Any help appreciated thanks.
