Does anyone know how I can get the original HTC ChaCha messaging app on the SuperOSR custom ROM? The messaging app included looks nice but doesn't allow me to add line breaks using the enter key.
Realised I need the functionality of the clock from stock too, is it possible to move that over also?

If it's an AOSP ROM you won't be able to use Sense applications
Vael always puts side by side apps in his roms. Look in the vaelpak extras folder using root explorer or similar program. The HTC mms.apk(its the entire app even tho its called mms) should be in there

I'm not a huge fan of the HTC messaging app an I'm kinda missing the vanilla gingerbread one. Anyone know a way of installing the vanilla one without root?
I've downloaded the mms.apk but the HTC app is installed under the same name so you can't uninstall/update it without SU. Is it possible to somehow repackage it as a new application that would run separately?
Go sms man

handcent sms works really well...
I like chompSMS, its a really solid alternative SMS app..... but I've actually been using the HTC messaging app lately, I love the way the conversation screen looks with the 3D sort of threads...
Stock HTC sense keyboard is awful. I installed the ICS keyboard from the market but whenever I'm typing a notification comes up in the status bar. Is there a way to disable that in the stock US rom?

No, it happens because there is more than one keyboard installed and available. If you were rooted you could possibly try deleting the HTC ime file from system\app to see if that eliminates it?

Thanks! I'm getting used to the notification. Anything is better than typing.like.this.
I've been trying to make it to the end of warranty without rooting and have found several customizations that dosent require it. I've installed the new CM10 messaging app and I LOVE IT... except for one thing. I keep getting double messages in my inbox. The problem is I can't modify the default messaging app without root and since the CM10 one is meant to be be stock they both keep showing the messages. Is there anyway to disable the stock app?

Go to Settings>Apps, find the messaging app you don't want and select it. There should be an option to disable it once it is selected. Choose that and it should be disabled.
Edit: slightly confused as to how you have CM messaging without root..
Would it somehow be possible to use HTC Contacts / Dialer app on other Roms like CM or AOKP? I like the app very much, but do not want to retain Sense just for the contacts app.
No chance mate, the app relies heavily on the sense frameworks which are closed source

It is possible to do smething similliar by "de-sense"ing a ROM, which means removing most of it's sense apps. However, since it is essentialy the same ROM, performance and behaviour will be the same.
Also, the People app had some dependencies, such as the dialer ("Phone") App. You can try removing the Sense launcher (Rosie) and installing an AOSP based one, but it will essentialy be the same ROM.
