Wallpaper scrolling works on UCLA3 (with LauncherPro) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I keep seeing posts regarding how UCLA3 update broke the Wallpaper scrolling functionality... are folks referring to just TouchWiz Launcher? I use LauncherPro and have been running the stock 2.3.6 UCLA3 rom/kernel (extracted by silver from the late FEB2012 ATT OTA). Wallpaper scrolling still functions as it did (at least for me) prior to the UCLA3 update. I'm using QuickPic (not Gallery).. and when I press the homescreen to set a wallpaper, I select Wallpapers....QuickPic Wallpaper... Screen size= "2-screens".. then select image of choice from my saved pics/images... then set/save. With TouchWiz, yes, wallpaper doesn't scroll... but with LauncherPro, it scrolls just as it used to. Just posting to those who want wallpaper scrolling with UCLA3... try QuickPic (gallery replacement) and LauncherPro.

Thanks for sharing. The update failed for me, but I've been wondering about this myself since I use ADW EX.

Yea, when I have talked about it, I was referring to the TWLauncher. I use ICS Launcher and TSR Shell Launcher and both work with scrolling. However, if you use the stock wallpaper selector, it's still screwed up unless, like you said, you use Quickpic or PicSpeed to select it from your gallery.

scrolling works... but selecting the wallpaper is very narrow and your wallpaper gets huge..
you can;t adjust the area you want to select from the picture to make your wallpaper..
---------- Post added at 11:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:12 AM ----------
figured it out..
in go launcher you can select a bigger area when you set the wallpaper from the go launcher preferences

I just assumed people knew that this only applied to stock launcher, guess not. good post op

Haha. I assumed the same thing until I kept reading of people complaining about. Since I thought most people use a different launcher, I thought it might've got messed up on other launchers, too.

[POLL] Best Tablet Launcher? (NEW - ICS Updated!)

Hey guys, since its not possible to edit my last poll thread, im creating a new one to include more options and ICS based launchers.
I think for now im going to leave the other thread since the comments contain lots of useful information.
So like the last thread, post any pro's and con's you found on any of the launchers and the overall feel of it on your tablet.
Let the polling begin!
I think Nova runs better/smoother than apex. I know there are a couple graphical errors at the moment, but im hoping there will be a update soon seeing as i bought prime and dont want it to be a waste. I have it installed as a system app and it smooth as butter. Im usually docked, so the portrait mode layout isnt of concern for me right now.
Once they take a look at it for tablets, IT WILL DOMINATE!
Gibve a try to
Go Launcher HD Beta.....
WOW

But apex haven't dock icon or not?
Still liking ADW EX
I love ADW EX but with ICS there is a blue line in the horizontal on top of the screen.
Does anybody knows how to take it out???
Nova the best at the moment 4 me..

Go Launcher hd
Right now I think the most complete tablet launcher is the stock ICS launcher. Google intended to step up their game as far as interface goes and with this addition they have really made significant improvements to ease of use, beauty and the goal of eliminating the need for skins. I have played with SPB Shell, Nova, ADW and most recently the Go Launcher Beta. Of them all, I think the Go Launcher is going to eventually evolve into something pretty special due to the commitment of the developers to improve. However for now at least, I'm enjoying the stock ICS launcher (or the slightly themed Asus Launcher) as the "one" that just works and is customizable enough to meet my fickle and ever changing needs.

+1 (reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally hate the blue line, so I'm using Nova for now)
Go launcher Beta !
Nova and Apex for sure. Clean, stable, and ICS exclusive.
Go Launcher HD seems ok but it's way too early in beta to tell anything. It's not ICS exclusive. Doesn't show widgets in app drawer even though the stock ICS app drawer shows widgets. It has a special edit mode but I don't really care about it because how often would I use it anyway? It also seems bloated and take a lot of system resources. Putting icons and widgets on my screen is already easy enough.
ASUS Launcher shortcut
Hi!
I have an ASUS Transformer tablet with ICS that is setup for my work needs, which require each screen to be setup a specific way with shortcuts, etc exactly the way my job requires them to be. This isn't a great arrangement for my personal tablet use needs, so I am using Go Launcher for my custom setup.
It has been annoying to have to choose which launcher I want to use, every time I use the "Home" function, so I set Go Launcher as my default. However, I still need to use the ASUS Launcher sometimes. I know I can clear defaults for the launchers in settings, but I hope for a quicker way to load the ASUS Launcher when I need it.
I have been trying to find a shortcut for switching the launcher back and forth from the built-in ASUS Launcher, to Go Launcher EX.
I've read about a couple of apps to do that, Home Manager and Home Switcher, but the review comments for them make me very leery of trying them.
Is there a way I can have a shortcut for the ASUS Launcher on my Go Launcher Screen, so that I can just load ASUS Launcher? It seems like there should be a simpler way to switch between them without having to install yet another app.
Thanks so much for any advice you can give!

Apex launcher without a doubt

I am not sure about Go Launcher but on ADW EX you can long press then hit custom shortcuts/pick your activity /activitys scroll down to launcher and tap it then tap launcher(2.launcher) and that will create a shortcut that opens the stock launcher
Thanks so much for the response, but Go Launcher didn't include such an option...at least, not that I could find.
Home switcher in the app store

@Bongzilla: OK...I had been leery of using it, based on many of the reviews I read, but since you are using the same tablet as I am, I'll give it a whirl. Thanks so much!
I've been using GO Launcher EX, but I'm not entirely enamoured with it I love the transitions and the themes, but it freezes fairly often and its been reverting my wallpaper to the default every once in a while...
Been using ADW the whole time and loved it for the most part. It's not buttery smooth but that's more on my end of having way too much on hubs, changing wallpapers, widgets and such.
Seems like it's been abandoned though so I'm waiting until I get my Prime before moving Apex. Between the ones I've seen so far, I've liked Apex the best, especially over other guys like Nova and Go Launcher.
I like ADW above APEX for a few reasons.
Compatibility with Simple Text is better with ADW. Somehow APEX is cropping the icon. ALso screen size is better on ADW. With ADW you can align left, where APEX will leave a huge gap in between widget/icon and left/right side.
All in all, I like APEX more for its smoothness and simplicity. Will make a switch when screen size and icon size is changed.

[Q] Wallpaper Resize

Hello
I'm sorry if someone already posted this. I just flashed the new ICS leak (ucld4). When I go to set my wallpaper I get the orange box but it doesnt let me enlarge it. In other words, its only a portrait box and doesn't stretch for larger images. Is this a known bug? If it is any known fixes?
Thanks
Use a different launcher. If u like the ics look try nova, apex, or trebuchet
I'm using apex launcher. It still doesn't let me enlarge the orange box. Am I doing something wrong?
Try using quickpic to set wallpaper
Thanks. That app seems to fix the wallpaper issue.

Help with resizing images for scrolling backgrounds

Updated Skyrocket to SKYICS 4.2E-8 (ULCE2), using Apex launcher, tried normal gallery, quickpic, zmods folder gallery2 apk, nothing has solved the problem so far.
When selecting an image to set as Home screen wallpaper I can no longer resize the selection to fit 960*800 pics to use for wallpaper scrolling. The wallpaper itself will scroll once selected but is zoomed in to portrait.
Resize worked fine on SKYICS base 2 update 7 but no longer.
Posting here because postcount Q.Q
EDIT: Also, using the included SecWallpaperChooser and Apex Launcher wallpaper chooser do not fix the issue.
Try what I did. This worked for me just follow the instructions. I know it works for UCLE2 not sure about sky ics. If it works on sky ics let me know...

Resolved a few days ago; installed QuickPic from market, on home screen hit soft menu, wallpaper, select QuickPic wallpaper gallery (which uses its own, white-framed resizing frame to select widescreen wallpapers, rather than the native gallery size selector - if you're having this problem, you understand what I'm talking about) and confirm size.
If anyone is having the same issue this worked for me and restored scrolling widescreen wallpaper functionality.
I use the Zedge app and select a wallpaper from it, works good

[Q] Window size on ICS Roms

Is it only me or is it an issue with ICS on skyrocket. On all the ROMs I tried all giving the same issue.
The window size for most of the context menu options ( e.g. trying to add Widgets) is very small compared to the original I see on GB.
I am using ICS on my KindleFire also, and don't see this issue there.
So this seems something related to ICS and Skyrocket.
Anyone else to confirm this?
Is it a launcher issue? I have the ported SG3 TouchwizUX and stock Touchwiz loaded on ucle2. Add widget menus looks like this...

Personally I'm running the Apex launcher and I absolutely love it. By far my favorite launcher from speed to customization to down right sexiness. Here's what the widget menus look like, as well as my apollo widget made resizable by Apex (Sorry for the watermark)

Should probably also state I'm running CM9-6/20 Nightly on UCLE2
Its not only the Adding Widget Screen, its everywhere.
See the screen from Poker Deluxe Game.
The window is clipped.
Could not find a solution for this issue, moved back to GB 2.3.6

Holy hell, I just achieved a buttery smooth launcher (with just one caveat)

Caveat: You won't have any wallpaper. So its all black to ya. But holy **** it's worth it. The launcher felt very smooth as baby asses and I am now willing to give up having wallpaper altogether.
Now the method is very simple and it made use of Google Now Launcher bug (lol)
Tested setup:
Worked on latest CM11 nightly (29/06), latest crombi with vanilla setting (none of the fsync, force GPU etc.), and also crombi with data2sd mod.
Download the official Google Now Launcher in Play Store (don't worry, you can use your preferred launcher later) (I would link but no rep sigh..)
Open the Google now launcher, long press anywhere, and go into the wallpaper setting
Choose one of the stock wallpaper that came with the Google now launcher (I chose the yellowish swirly thingy)
Press set wallpaper
Wait. After a few secs, it should return you to back to the google now launcher home screen but this time with no wallpaper. If it applied the wallpaper successfully, then try another stock wallpaper. If it still applies the wallpaper successfully, then tough luck. Doesn't work for you then.
So since you don't have any wallpaper, try moving around the launcher and stuffs. Feel the smoothness that almost rivals the iOS. Heck you can even go back to your preferred launcher now. The no wallpaper bug stick with nova and trebuchet. This smoothness is the dream we were denied.
This method is reproducible for me and no, setting to that "no wallpaper" option in Nova only applies a black image in the background. The Google Now Launcher bug allows us to literally have no wallpaper at all.
Also, I've been trying to check all day if the lagginess that was originally present in launchers w/o using this bug came from CPU or GPU. I dare to say, for what's it's worth, all my noobish test seems to be pointing to the Tegra 3 GPU. Hell you can even go on power save mode with this wallpaper bug and still see nothing impacting it baby butt smoothness.
(The current Google Now Launcher version in Play Store is 1.0.16.1154249 as of this post)
I use GMD Gestures to navigate through my apps and stuff. It has an option to "hide" the status/navigation bar - i think it basically just kills SystemUI. Yes you wont be able to access the notifications and quicksettings anymore, but hell the home screen is perfect smooth and you get to keep your wallpaper. (might be different on other ROMs, i'm on CROMBi-kk)

Good to know. I prefer having the status bar though since I have two WiFi network in my house and I frequently take a peek at the quick settings panel usually to know which network I'm using.
