[Q] Car Bluetooth while Headphone is in? - Verizon Droid Charge

Hi,
Do anyone else find it annoying that the Car Bluetooth wont work while the headphone jack is plugged in?
I drive an hour to work every day (and the same time back!) and love listening to Audiobooks, which I got hooked up to the car using a mini-jack to mini-jack cable.
Whenever I get a call, I have to unplug the phone to make the Car Bluetooth take over.
Really annoying.
Do anyone know of a patch that will let BT have higher priority than headphones and not the reverse as now...
Thanks,

I know there's a thread for the stock rom already:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315126&highlight=bluetooth+headphone
I have the problem on all the roms i tested, old stock, new stock, two diff GB from here.

Microphone issue with headphone adapter

Hello all. I got my TP two days ago and I love it. Problem is, I have a 3.5 mm headphone adapter w/ charging USB on it and no one can hear me when it is plugged in. I use this to listen to my music to/from work in my car (my car stereo has a Aux-In). I have a dashboard mount that I put the TP in to keep it steady. When I answer a call, obviously I can hear them, but they can't hear me. However, this used to work when I had the Vogue...Instant speaker phone. This would be such a pain if HTC decided to somehow disable the phone microphone with this adapter plugged in.
Any suggestions?
I've got the same problem. Is it possible to ensure mobile calls go thru bluetooth?

Stereo Headset(And other similar accesories) do not work with Cupcake/1.5?

I've been using Haykuro's builds, and now the latest JF1.5 build (So snappy. ), but in none of these builds does the Stereo Headset that came with the phone work, if you plug them in the sound keeps playing from the phone itself. Is there something special I'm supposed to do now that you didn't have to before? Or is it just something they forgot to keep on while they were busy making Bluetooth stereo work?
Mine work with JF1.5 ADP, both the stock single wired headset, and my headphones plugged into the HTC 3.5mm adapter. Music plays, can make calls, the button controls the playback... not a single problem. Have you tried adjusting the volume with them plugged in?
Well that's odd.. Yeah I have, it just changes the volume of the phone. Hmm.
update the radio

you need to update the radio on the phone. download

This fixed the same issue I was having.
Hmm, okay. I was pretty sure I already did that, but I'll try again and get back with my results tomorrow.

I'm having similar issues. My HTC 3-1 adapter stopped working, but my stock adapter does work. I also flashed the radio. Please report back if re-flashing the radio fixes your issues.
Had a chance to test it out sooner than I thought. Sorry, I had ASSUMED that the 3.5mm adapter wouldn't work since my HTC 3-1 adapter didn't, but hadn't actually tried it. :x Anyways it DOES work, as per above though, the 3 in 1 does NOT.
However, I have found a workaround. With the phone unplugged, Plus your 3.5mm jack into the 3.5mm adapter that came with the phone (The one with the button), then plug the 3.5mm adapter into the 3-1's USB slot on the side, and if you're like me you'll be plugging in your car charger too, and attaching it to the back of the 3-1 adapter. Anyways, then just plug the 3-1 adapter into the phone and it WILL work. Plus you get the functionality of the little on-off button. I'm happy now.
Still, seems odd that the 3-1 doesn't work as intended (Being able to plug the 3.5mm jack directly into it.), but for my purposes this case is solved.
Well this is great for use early buyers who were treated so well and received the official adapters that are apparently the only ones that still work with the phone. /sarcasm
Seriously. What the hell.
I'm probably buying some A2DP headphones anyways, but since my original headphones' connections somehow got weakened in the little volume control nub, I'm pissed.
I have no problems with my 3 and1 adapter or stock headphone adapter with the new JF 1.50ADP....
LOL... great minds think alike. I had already discovered this workaround as well and can confirm it does work just as you said for me too. I'm okay with this solution for now, but it would be nice to eliminate some wires from my audio setup in car, rather than adding to the mess.
The new radio update must have re-mapped some function that was required for the standard headphone auxiliary outputs to work. That's the only explanation that I can think of, unless someone using a previous Cupcake build and the new radio can confirm that a 3-to-1 adapter works okay...
So, when I was using Haykuro's build I noticed a little Icon on the Notifications bar that let me know I had the 3.5mm Headphone jack plugged into the mini usb, But now on JF's 1.5, It's not there anymore. I also washed my 3.55 plug, So I don't know if something happened or if its JF's. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?
i am also having this problem with my htc 3-in-1, i have flashed the radio. i have not tested the workaround yet.

Which 3-in-1 adapter do you have?
Bluetooth Stereo not working here
I can use a regular headset fine.
but when i pair up my bt stereo a2dp headset I get no call sound. Regular sound tops at this point. Then I have to reset my phone to get sound back.
Anyone experiencing this ??
it seemed to be in the official ADP 1.5 so I guess It may be an unfixed Android bug.
same issue here =(
I ALWAYS used to use my G1 as a music player in my car, but now that doesn't work =/ I'm stuck using CDs! =( lol
I have an HTC adapter I actually bought at a Tmobile store so I can't bealieve it doesn't work now with these new builds. Mine only has the male end that goes to the G1 and 1 female where I plug an aux cable into so I can;t do the trick you guys talked about above.
If ANYONE can help out, it would be very appreciated.
The htc 3-in-1 adapter was reported not to work as intended pretty soon after the HTC version of 1.5 was released. It doesn't register on the phone. I suspect all derivatives of the HTC version (like JF's) will behave the same. I also suspect this will be fixed in an upcoming service release.

So there's no current fix for this?

Nothing beyond using some other adapter, as far as I know. Ironically, only the original HTC 3in1 adapter seems to cause this behaviour.

As noted previously, you CAN continue to use the HTC 3-in-1 adapter, but only in combination with a second USB to headphone jack adapter (such as the original one that came packaged with the G1 for the past few months). Not a fix, but the workaround does work fine.
this is almost crazy
So what you are trying to say is.. We wanted Bluetooth, so we got Bluetooth, but we lost Headset feature??? Other than the iPhone, there is not a phone out there that acts like this? Dont get me wrong I love the G1 and I'm not really sure how I got along with out it.. but really guys, Fixing one thing only to break another is not a good business practice. My guess is that the iPhone will work the first time.. but only time will tell... Has anyone heard anything about the Beam files feature?

[Q] ahhh ! headphone adapter issue !!

since my work was kind enough to block XM, i now have to stream on my phone... now all last week i used the adapter that came with the phone, plugged my headphones in, plugged the charger in, and listened to XM all day (while keeping a frozen lunch on it to keep it cool enough to actually charge...). This morning i plugged in the adapter, plugged in my headphones and the audio comes out of the speaker, if i unplug the charger from the adapter... the audio comes from the headphones. I havent changed any settings over the weekend so i have no clue how this happened, any ideas how to fix it ? im running one of the newer energy roms if that helps ?
this sucks !

[Q] call audio output wont work in car dock.

Ive tried every setting and looked every where and cant figure out how to get audio when i get a phone call using the 3.5 jack connect through the usb. Any having same problem or a fix? I get music and everything else ive tried but calls always go to speaker phone and not my car audio.

Go into settings then dock settings and click the second option that says output to external speakers.
I know I hate that! That's the whole point of having it play though the radio.
I hope someone can figure it out, because it doesn't make any sense the way it works now.
Might have to stick to using my bluetooth.
It works great for this!
yeah, it seems that the only way to do it is by using the top 3.5" jack on teh phone itself...seems like a silly oversight
Also did anyone else notice music sounds like crap compared to the jack on the phone? Less bass and just not as full sound.
This is my first post here im XDA. So I figured I would contribute like many here that make this forum a great place. I can confirm that the audio out does work using the jack on the car mount. When the car docking screen pops up, you will need to press the phone shaped icon and that will switch the audio to come out to the external speakers. There is no need to have the 3.5mm cable attached to the phone, just the mount.
Here is a pic of the car mode screen.

Edit: I tried to post the screenshot but I am not allowed yet since I am fresh to the forums.
Edit: I just reread the OP post and tested out the in call audio and it does not come out through the speakers either. My apologies for jumping the gun.

I had something odd happen the other day, I sometimes pair my phone with my car via bluetooth if I'm expecting to use it. I also use the 3.5mm jack to play music through the auxiliary in on the car (I have a USB port in there but a lot of my music is flac, which my car doesn't support). I noticed the other day though if I use both at the same time the music will stop and the call comes through the car, but there's no audio. It doesn't come through my car speakers via bluetooth, I guess it might through the aux cord, but I can't exactly test it at the same time haha. I think these phones just get confused as to what they're supposed to do with audio.

[Q] [SOLVED] G2X doesn't use internal mic with headphones plugged in

SOLVED: It was the cable.
Searching around, this seems to be a common problem with a variety of phones, some it works, some don't. My old G1 worked flawlessly in this manner.
Whenever I have a pair of headphones or my auxiliary cable for my car plugged in, the internal mic doesn't work when I receive a call. This sucks, because if I'm listening to music in my car and get a call, I have to remove the phone from the window mount and unplug the cable while driving down the road, or fiddle around with the power button to switch the phone to speaker mode (screen goes black after answering a call with the cable plugged in).
Is there a solution for this other than spending $180 on a bluetooth integration kit for my car (was looking at the Parrot MKi9000 or KlaT7)? I'm a little scared of this route considering the problems people have been having with A2DP on Gingerbread. I'm hoping the official Gingerbread release (if it EVER releases) will fix the A2DP and/or this issue. I am running Froyo right now, but am eagerly anticipating the official Gingerbread release.
Thoughts?
That does not match my experience with the stock ROM. I listen to Pandora in my car via an FM transmitter that is plugged into my earphone jack, and I receive calls all the time without having to go into speakerphone mode: the caller's voice comes through the car loudspeakers, and they hear me just fine. I just ran an experiment with a pair of earphones (no microphone) plugged in and called myself from my landline and I definitely heard it loud and clear over the landline phone when I blew into the microphone hole in the bottom of the G2x.
That definitely is odd. The phone is rooted along with faux's kernel, but I have the stock ROM. When I have the cable plugged in no one hears me on the other side, and voice dialing doesn't work either. Is your G2x all stock?

Yes, completely stock and unrooted.
Have you tried it with a different cable or with plain vanilla earphones?
No I haven't tried a different one yet. I'll try that when I get home tonight. Thanks for your input!

My guess is its the cable. Probably something with the connector is tricking the phone into thinking it has a microphone built in, just like when you plug in a headset it mutes your handset mic.
You are both correct. Just tried a different cable and it works great.
The cable I was using was the one included with the T-Mobile Window Mount Kit. I was using it because I have the Speck case and the original one I bought from MonoPrice.com was too thick to fit through the hole. The T-Mobile cable was skinnier and just barely fit. I took the phone out of the case and tried the one I bought from MonoPrice and it worked perfectly.
Thanks for the help!
Now I need to decide whether or not to bore out the hole larger on a $30 case. As most reviews have stated, it does scratch very easily and is very difficult to get the phone out. Anyone know of any other cases that have a larger diameter hole for the headphone out?
