#1- there are newer versions of gingerbread, I believe kh2 being the latest, out which are more stable.
#2- there is a kg4 kernel by Dr. Honk that is already rooted.
#3- most of the problems can be attributed end user error... In other words read the instructions thoroughly and all should be well, that easy if there is anything you're unsure of you can ask about beforehand.

Hi mate thanks for the answer
1) my specific question is: when i see a kernel or mod that fix to sg4g should i make sure it compatible with T959V or by naming the kernel/mod
kernel for sg4g it means that it will work on my phone
2) I need version of mod with RTL but thanks
3) thanks
From what I've heard everything for this phone is VERY specific to this phone.

How to install fonts in Android
Rooting an unrooted device will revoke your warranty!
Note
The latest Cyanogen build (4.1.9.2 or higher) include the many glyphs! Including Hebrew and Arabic. So, if you have a rooted phone, I suggest to install CyanogenMOD ROM get it here. Or you can read on...
Option one: install fonts manually
Required
A rooted Android. If you want to know how to root an Android, read about it here.
fonts (Cyanogen's fonts can be downloaded from here)
ADB tool, which is a part of the Android SDK.
You may need to install the drivers. Get them from here.
Steps
Connect your phone using USB to the computer.
Unzip the fonts to the ADB folder, e.g., "c:\adb\"
Change directory to the ADB folder.
Make the system partition writable:
Copy the fonts to the system partition, by typing the following command (in this example I assume the fonts are stored on the local computer at "c:\adb\"):
adb push c:\adb\ /system/fonts/
We're done - just reboot the device:
adb shell reboot
Option two: use recovery mode to install update
Required
A rooted Android. If you want to know how to root an Android, read about it here.
The update archive: you can download it here
Steps
Copy the 'install_CM_fonts.zip' file into you SDCARD root directory.
Boot into recovery mode (probably pressing HOME while phone starts)
Select "Flash ZIP from SDCARD"
Select 'install_CM_fonts.zip'
Reboot your phone
More information
You can get help on how to do it at various forums across the internet.

Require root first
Hi safariking,
I have some experience flashing ICS roms on my Galaxy S, I even started out from scratch when the phone was running an early version of GB. I got it rooted (with a lot of help of reading) however I'm not really sure how to proceed with your instructions on updating my Qware Pro 2 to your custom rom.
First of all, I'm failing to even navigate to the zip file while in normal recovery, I've even tried to rename the file to update.zip...
Could it be that it cannot work when the tablet is not rooted?
I tried to root it a while ago, using Gingerbreak, but somehow that is not compatible with the tablet.
You'd think it easy to find out how to root the device, but I'm kind of ashamed to have to say I'm stuck here...
Can you please give me some hints or links to a website where I can read more about acquiring root access on a Pro 2?
Thanks in advance.

It works
Finally got it working.
After I put the zip files on the external SD card I was able to navigate to it and flash CWM and after that your custom rom V2 which is an improvement regarding speed and battery life.
Sofar I'm very happy, thanks!
I've also tried CyanogenMod 7 via fun_'s thread, but neighter the Yarvik rom (touchscreen does not work) nore the Roverpad rom (HD film playback does not work) is a success.
I'm going to try your V1, to see if it makes any difference...
Cheers...

Hi,
I just flashed my pro 2 with this rom and it works OK (only the screen-orientation sensor is behaving strange).
I also wanted to try the stock-rom update from the qware website. I tried the flashprg that came with it but i think buy usinge the cwm recovery i can't use this prg anymore. Do you have a original recovery lying around? (or otherwise have a solution for flashing the original stock-rom). If so i will be thankfull!
Bob.

If you don't need the gulyuk.s script, you must put the archive on your sdcard, and you have to go to "install zip from sdcard" then "choose zip from sdcard" and now choose the archive that you have put on your sdcard.
If you need the gulyuk.s script, you must, firstly, download the
BackupAndRestoreOT990 archive (from ot-990.blogspot.fr) unpack it and put the two file on the sdcard (don't unpack these files).
Secondly, create a folder named "firmware" on the root of sdcard.
Thirdly, unpack the archive of the Rom you want to install, and put the three file (boot.img, custpack.img and system.img) and the "firmware" folder.
Now go to the ClockWorkMod Recovery, choose "install zip from sdcard" then "choose zip from sdcard" and choose "restore_by_Gulyuk.zip". (The script install the three file of the "firmware" folder).

Hi guys,
Few days ago I bought Alcatel OT 990 and since then i was trying to read as much as I can about this phone, about ROM's, rooting etc...Because this is my first Android phone...
So, back to the topic, I was looking for a custom ROM, one without dozens of pre installed applications and stuff I will probably never use. So I was suggested to try French stock ROM (thanks, that was push i needed to overcame my fears of bricking phone)...
French stock rom (required rooting, installing recovery and gulyuk.s script to install firmware) and gain nothing except SU rights on my phone and different welcome screen when I turn my phone ON...
So, my question is, does anyone knows is there a custom rom, some kind of "clean slate" without bunch of "useless" applications?
Boris
No "clean slate" ROMs yet. Hopefully CM7 is going to be one. Meanwhile use some of available Root Uninstaller programs available on Market (I hate GP combination of words). But be cautious, With root uninstallers You can brick Your phone (nothing that can't be fixed by re flashing ROM but it is a pain in the... You know)
Bole, samo hrabro
Well, I will not uninstall this what I have done until that CM7 comes out... then I will see what is smart thing to do...
Send me a pm if you know some good instruction on how to set partition on SD card..
Do you want to use link2sd?
Maybe this can help you
If you want more app space, you mustn't delete this apps
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]GoogleBackupTransport
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter [/COLOR]
GoogleFeedback [can be delete but you must reboot to stop Force Close]
GoogleQuickSearchBox [useless if you don't use the search button]
[COLOR="Red"]GoogleServicesFramework [/COLOR]
JrdSetupWizard [useless after first setup of the phone]
LatinImeTutorial [just an explanation for the cooltek keyborad]
[COLOR="Red"]MarketUpdater
MediaUploader
NetworkLocation[/COLOR]
SetupWizard [useless after first setup of the phone]
[COLOR="red"]Vending[/COLOR]
VoiceSearch [useless if you don't use voice search]
( In red, the thing you MUSTN'T delete, if you don't want to brick your phone)
EDIT: For this, you can use root explorer or es file explorer
Thanks to neoeljin from the french thread of the ot 900 in the hardware forum

I am using a Mini Pro running on Stock ROM and Kernal
It is rooted and has CWM 5.0.2.7-nAa

I went through the following steps to install it:
Did data/factory wipe
Wiped cache partition
Wiped Dalvik cache
Wiped battery stats
Then i proceeded to install .zip from sd card and so on until i located the .zip which was on my sd cards root directory
put it to install and i end up with this
--Installing: /sdcard/cm9.1.0-mango.zip
Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
assert failed: getprop ("ro.product.device") == "SK17i" | | getprop ("ro.build.product") == "SK17i" | | getprop ("ro.product.device") == "SK17a" | | getprop ("ro.build.product") == "SK17a" | | getprop ("ro.product.device") == "mango" | | getprop ("ro.build.product") == "mango"
E:Error in /sdcard/cm-9.1.0-mango.zip

Installation aborted.
I want to know why i am getting this
I tried CM10 and 7 for my device and i get the same errors

Seems to me u probably have a device not "introducing" itself properly Or maybe it's build...
Maybe try the other way around and it right since the beginning.
Get yourself first:
- stock kernel & s/w rreinstalled (via PC Companion)
- since this is sk17i - unlock ur bootloader via official Sony way: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ (yet first watch the tutorial form Mihahn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31376248#post31376248 )
- get urself latest FlashTool and install it (http://androxyde.github.com/), use it to root ur phone -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30441163#post30441163
-
- go in very details through here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629334 and
1. download Kernel TFT (appropriate one) and flash it using flash tool (and guess what... here is picture guide by Mihahn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879982)
2. upload CM9-3 to sd card and try again with CWMRec/Flashtool mode install (depending whether u download .zip or .tft with ROM)

I am so sorry if I am bothering you or anything but I was going through the links, very handy and simple, and i came across this in the last link you have put about downlaoding a kernal .TFT
When reading through it says
Now you are ready to install a custom rom/kernel.
Let's start:
You go to development section and choose a rom you want for your device. You download the rom and the kernel for your device (make sure it is the right for yours! Sometimes the kernel is included in the installation zip file of the rom.
Now you have the boot.img and the rom
Click to collapse
Now where is the Development section?
Where do i find the Boot.img?
What is the proper one for my sk17i?
I have downloaded CM9.1 for Mango from the cm official website and there is a boot.img inside the zip, should i just extract the boot.img out and keep it near the .zip file? and should i use this instead of the mini cm provided?
I really appreciate the links you have given and hope all my doubts can be cleared for me to actually start the process
Will hit that thanks button if it is a success :good:

S/W = Software.
To install stock software, even if ur phone is in bootloop, u may use PC Companion.
1. Start mobile in Flash mode (BACK/VOL+/- pressed when phone turned off and connecting usb cable + PC Companion enabled)
2. Agree on loosing all data Choose model (be careful -u20 and sk17i and sk17a are all mini pro, use hardware version marking)
3. allow it to work - it will download stock software for ur mini pro
Effect: unroot stock phone. U can root it again with FlashTool or one of root methods (for sk17i I believe so called zergRush does the job - search forums or gogole it )
Afterwards proceed with instructions for
1. Rooting
2. Unlocking bootloader
3. Reflashing phone with custom kernel and custom ROM
BE ADVISED: Above "root/unlock bootloader" actions usually void ur warranty. Be sure what u r doing, read thoroughly steps to not brick ur phone and do not be scared if bootloop happens - just find a way to enter flash mode again and use other .tft/ROM
OR - if u have already unlocked bootloader - simply download appropriate .tft file and flash it on ur phone using FlashTool. (the so called generic sk17i ROM has been provided in .tft format here: http://rumah-android.com/official-xperia-mini-pro-sk17i-4-1-b-0-431-firmware-ics-4-0-4.html)

And use custom kernels/stock roms known for their stability in latest release/nigh release (search for xda forum threads).

Get yourself first:
- stock kernel & s/w rreinstalled (via PC Companion)
- since this is sk17i - unlock ur bootloader via official Sony way: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ (yet first watch the tutorial form Mihahn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31376248#post31376248 )

Alright, thanks alot
Will get to it
I cant just plug my phone in and use the repair option from support zone?
It says that will erase all internal memory by replacing the software
So should I use that method?
And yeah, ive experience bootloop before so im fine and know what to do
And after all this is done and i get everything tis fine to restore my apps and studd using titanium right?

Now where is the Development section?
Where do i find the Boot.img?
What is the proper one for my sk17i?
I have downloaded CM9.1 for Mango from the cm official website and there is a boot.img inside the zip, should i just extract the boot.img out and keep it near the .zip file? and should i use this instead of the mini cm provided?
I really appreciate the links you have given and hope all my doubts can be cleared for me to actually start the process
Will hit that thanks button if it is a success :good:

Development Section is a section of XDA forum, where crazy programmers deliver their kernels and ROMS...
This link is in Development Section, I believe the CM u r looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629334
Be advised - above CM requires custom kernel sk17i, it says it in Requirements in above link -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25550442
If u succeed to unlock bootloader, it gets pretty simple, simpler than in Mihahn guide.
1. Given u have bootloader unlocked: using FlashTool u flash kernel (the .tft file) - thus u won't have to care about separate boot.img / .sin files flashing, they are incorporated in .tft thing.
2, If it suceeds - using flashtool u reset to recovery
3. USING CWM options - u mount ur USB storage
4. U put from ur PC zip with CM9
5. Unmount USB storage
6. Wipe all data as it says in ROM thread - otherwise u risk **** to hit the fan
7. Update from .zip, point to zip on sdcard
8.Relax
9. Get cofee
10. Relax
11. Watch it progress
12. Relax
13. Pray for best
14. After it finishes - reboot to normal. Be advised - first reboot after flashing ROM is always long, linux + ROM does automagic stuff
Short who's who:
kernel; linux kernel, da animal that is engine of subsequent android devices (i.e. kernel with Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Beans Adnroid releases) U NEED CAREFULLY CHOOSE THE ONE APPRIOPRIATE FOR UR DEVICE
ROM - closest to operating system u get on mobile devices, u might have different ROMs wortking on specific kernel
CWM - clockworkmode recovery - ur last resort if **** hits the fan to change ROM without reflashing kernel
I hope I got this as simple as I could... Sorry, I was former mobile s/w developer, such stuff is just usual for me, my stock u20i software didn't last 24h - I just immediately reflashed it co CM6, later to CM7 - just to have some options not available in stock rom connected to power management and application management.

Yes.
Generic ROM / Repair options brings u back to stock sk17i SE ROM. I dont remeber if repair option uploaded latest update, if yes - u might still have to use generic sk17i tft thing.
With restoring option - to be honest I didn't test it. It didn't worked well for me on CM6 and CM7 upgrade, yet possibly I did not all the things right. Still, if u have backed up apps and data on sdcard, it might be possible - please check it before reflashing ROMS (just root, install latest titanium backup and simply test the stuff).
Good luck on ur journey to reflash...

U can choose any CyanogenMod marked as suitable for ur phone (xperia mini pro, sk17i), yet
- PAY ATTENTION TO REQUIREMENTS: rooting, unlocking bootloader, which kernel version etc.
- READ SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE EXECUTING! Very important... developer put most important informations in posts, yet specific issuies are reproted and solved as froum thread goes by
Step 1 is done
Okay, I have Restored the phone to factory using SUS

HELP
I have flashed the kernal to a xperia arc kernal (TO downgrade for rooting)
I start up doomlords rooter thingy
And once i press anykey its on this
daemon not running. Start it now
daemon started successfully
And its just there
Ive used this program to root before and it worked
Btw after installing the neo kernal the phone doesnt restart, only on black scree, ive gotten that before but it had rooted successfully before
Please help me out :/
what are you doing?
if you want cm10, you don't need to root you phone, just simply flashing the rom will give you root
also flashing a kernel not meant for your device will obviosely create problems
instead try flashing this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076764
and this rom

Sorry for the inconvinience

Rooting done, going to now flash it back
Wish me luck :fingers-crossed:

If I ever meet you in real life, i would give you a hug
I dont know how to thank you!
It worked, i followed the original instructions which are quoted above ^ and it worked
I used a .img file to flash using flashtool and then flashed using CWM6 which came with the kernal
In the startup process
One thing that is a bummer is the slide out keyboards symbols which are printed on my phone do not match the ones which came with CM9
Meaning, on letter 'M' there is the symbol "%" in blue, so when i press the function button on the keyboard i end up with another Symbol when pressing "M", any way to fix it??
And one more thing
I have CM9, is it recommended to install CM10 nightly or should i wait for a stable release?
And if CM10 was good to install what steps should I use to install it?
Should i just place the .zip in the root of sd, then bootup in CWM and then install zip from sdcard?
Or i use the method you gave above?
Or I just boot in CWM and clear data and install from SD?
Hoping for a reply, and thanks alot!

yep any cm10 kernel would work, however the fxp one does not have the best battery life or the best performance but it is the most stable

Hi Alberto,
On Android 4.4.2 (Star i6 and Star P7 with MTK6582), I was able to change the mount point of the internal flash with the external one so that, even though my phone had only 4GB of "ROM" (of which about 1.3GB usable) I actually was able to use a 32GB external flash as usable space for all my apps.
First, I am not familiar with Android 6.0. Second I am not familiar with this specific stock ROM.
My questions are:
Is it possible to do a similar thing on this phone with Android 6.0 so that the total available space to install new apps is overall increased?
Is it possible to re-partition the memory (a-la 4.4.2) so that the partition used for Apps is increased and the partition used for data is decreased?
Thank you very much for your kind reply.
Best regards
Rosario

Well you will lose the IP67 capability, but it shouldn't be difficult. Try to reflash the OS first. (Link in Doogee's website)

Root support for init.d
Hi Alberto,
I understand you rooted the Doogee T5.
May I ask you if the rooted ROM has support for the init.d directory (and, of course, the start up of scripts at boot time, with specific mention for the IPtables configuration) ?
Furthermore, I understand the T5 differs from the T5 S for the lower resolution camera and the smaller RAM. Do you know if the procedure to root the T5S is the same used to root the T5, with the same ROM ?
Thank you in advance

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but many Android ROM do not have init.d support, so, unless you have verified yourself, I would still keep it with a question mark. So, do you have the rooted ROM of the T5? Does it have init.d support?
As for the busibox tools, forgive me, but that has nothing to do with the init.d support.
I'm not sure that rom for T5 and for T5S are the same. These devices have different CPU, RAM and ROM. But procedure for TWRP and root are the same. For placing your own scripts in init.d you must install busybox and rootexplorer on rooted device. Than you can put what you want in init.d

Didn't you just say that the ROM for T5s was also suitable for the T5?
I wrote that the hardware is different ...
And, by the way, again, look init.d and busibox are two completely different things.
1. I said about TWRP recovery, not ROM.
2. To place your working script in to init.d you must have executable commands. Busybox is not only one solution for it, but it is simple.

You keep answering to questions that I have never given.
1. I did not ask if TWRP was OK, I asked if the ROM was the same.
2. I did not ask how to put scripts into init.d directory, I asked if init.d was supported by this ROM.
But thank you anyway for the conversation. I understand you don't have a rooted T5, that is totally ok. Just I need to know something else. Thank you again.
How to root Doogee T5
1. you need following software:
a) SP Flash Tool: -https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982587 (also you can download from site http://spflashtools.com/)
b) Doogee TWRP recovery: http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/TWRP_Doogee_T5.rar
c) SuperSu: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu - you must save this zip into phone storage or sd card
2. Install SP Flash Tool, then flash Doogee TWRP recovery (see pic.)
1) choose scatter file from extracted TWRP_Doogee_T5 folder (recovery will be marked automaticaly)
2) push Download button
3) connect your phone. Phone must be power off.
4) after TWRP flashing will be done, disconnect your phone.
5) press volume up + power - you will enter into TWRP
6) choose install, and select your SuperSu zip
7) reboot your phone
3. Enjoy rooted Doogee T5
After installing TWRP and SuperSu - forget about OTA updates. After that you can install updates through TWRP or SP Flash Tool only.
