I was wondering if there is a way/app that I can use to use my phone as a portable speaker for my iPod Classic by plugging it in to my phone via the headphone jack and passing audio through to the speaker.
You would need a custom kernel specifically designed to do that, which I doubt anyone would develop.

I'm a new user to spotify and I have to say its an amazing app for music. I mainly use it for the gym. Id like to some how connect my phone to my reciever at my house to listen to it over my sound system. I also have a ps3 and thought I could do it that way but no dice. I have a couple of ideas on how to hook it up but don't want to start buying cable after cable and still not connection....any suggestions?

Does your receiver have aux in? Most do, just plug it into your headphone jack and into the front of your receiver (usually on the front).
Set the receiver to aux-in and voila
Simple cable, only like $5.
Hmm not sure i thought about that...it has dmport which I think is an ipod hookup....could I plug it in via hdmi?

What if you used a Aux to Audio In splitter (RCAs)? Does your receiver have audio an audio in connection which I believe all have?

I did think about that....and yes I do have audio in...I would prefer a digital connection...my reciever does have hdmi in...coax in and optical in. Maybe ill just try a cheap hdmi cable. Anyone have any success with an hdmi cable?

Can you even stream audio only via HDMI or is HDMI just for streaming video?
Hdmi is a combo of both which is why it became the standard over dvi....I'm on cm7 and I know people have had issues with hdmi out on their phone....I don't believe its supported in the rom

Don't know why you would prefer a digital in when you don't have a digital out. Unless the analog audio coming out of the headset jack is really poor, or you have a really long run, the analog would be just fine.
Digital will always add noise. It's advantage is it's ability to keep it's integrity over long distances and is worth the trade off over analog in those cases. If the HDMI transmitted the original unaltered digital signal to the reciever, it might be a plus, however, that is most likely not the case. It is most likely being converted in the process a few times adding noise. Plus the stream from the internet is most likely not high quality anyway.
I'd go with the analog and call it a day.
Well thank you for an informed answer....that's what I was looking for.....I will be doing some shopping tomorrow. I appreciate everyones input!

Looking for something to give me both handsfree calling and allow for audio streaming to my car stereo. I was looking at the tunelink at bestbuy for audio streaming, only it does not provide a handsfree calling solution. I do not have an AUX input otherwise i would use the belkin aircast. Also portability is important. Has anybody come across something that will do both?
hey,
hit up Wireless wave. they have a bluetooth speaker that does exactly what youre looking for. Its made by Jabra
Thanks just saw the same thing at best buy today. The Jabra Freeway. I think I am going to get it. Its a little on the large side as it has 3 speakers, while I don't need any (going to use the fm transmitter) but have not seen anything better yet.

The one I have is no bigger then the palm of my hand. Its called the cruzer

I have read mixed reviews with that one. Do you do any audio streaming? If so how is the quality? That one is much smaller than the one I saw.

Motorola T505. Its handsfree and will either play music. on built in speakers or stream to car stereo using built in FM transmitter. Great quality sound, I have one
Thanks got the cruiser 2 today going to try it for a few days and if it does not work well, I may try it the Motorola.

Hello,
I just switched over to the HTC One S T-Mo version from the GS2. Phone is great has its pluses and minuses over the GS2 however I am having one little issue with my device.
Whenever I try to use audio out into my car stereo it does not work it plays through the phone speaker. I was wondering if there was a setting for that on the phone? I looked on everything option I could think of. At first I thought it was the cable, but I tested it on my friends GS2 and my Ipod as well and still works flawlessly. Then I thought it was the app( Google play) but I also tried with pandora and youtube and still no dice.
I used the search on here but came out empty, just wondering if you guys knew anything about this?
P.S. I tried two HTC ONE S's already both same thing.
Thank You
Not really and answer, but I tried using mine as well through aux input in my car, and same issue. I got a replacement from T-Mobile because the tech at the help desk said it shouldn't do that. I've tried 2 different cables in 2 different cars and same result. Sound through One S speaker. Really annoying. I had the Sensation which worked fine but not sure why this phone will play through the headphones but not through car speakers.

Its just like a pair of headphones.

I agree that's how it should work. When I have my head phones in, I get sound through the head phones, but when I use it through my car stereo(I've tried 2 cars, 2 different cables) the sound comes through the one s speaker not the car speakers. All my other phones have worked the right way but this continues to play through phone speaker. Weird. This is my 2nd one s. I returned the 1st because of this very issue. Thank you.

Auxiliary Mode
My car stereo has an AUX mode that I have to manually switch it to when I want to play music from my phone through my car speakers. I noticed that some devices will switch my stereo into that mode, where as my One S will not. I suggest that you check and see if there is a way to manually enter this AUX mode from the stereo as that may be something that you never noticed because its been doing it for you this whole time.
Thank you. I have manually put it into aux mode and still one s speaker. I am going to try it in my Toyota today and see if it works. Hopefully not 0 for 3. I just wasn't sure if there was a setting on the one S I'm missing. Just seems weird that it's my 2nd one s and 2 different cars and 2 different wires.

Are those stock radios in both vehicles? If not what model of radios are you connecting your phone to.
Yes. All 3 are stock. 07 mercury, 10 Toyota and 12 Ford. All using different cables. Maybe return the phone again? Thank you.

There is an app on the market that will force the sound through the auxiliary output. I forget the name, you could try that.
So it works for headphones?
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
That's the strange thing. Headphones work fine. Even the beats comes on. Weird issue.

Try SoundAbout from the market. While it's not an official fix it should get your desired result.
If it works with headphones then I don't think your phone is the problem, it just doesn't make any sense. Set the radio to AUX, start the music on the phone and plug it while its playing, see if that works. I am at a loss.
I did that as well,I could hear the static "pop" through the car speakers when I plug in the aux jack, but it just continues to play through the phone speaker on all 3 cars. Thank you.

You can definitively say that the cables you have tried work, you have use those same cables with an iPod or some other player, right?
Yes. I had a galaxy s3 and sensation before this and they've both worked through these same cables. Thank you.

So I called htc and the woman I spoke with said I need a cable that is certified to work with one s. But she couldn't tell me any. Does anyone know of a special 3.5 mm aux cable for our one s? Thank you.

That sounds like BS, I have a cable that I made myself and it works just fine.
I've got an Avantree Saturn bluetooth transceiver hooked up to my home stereo. When it's in Receive mode I can send audio from my GS3 to the stereo.
However, you can also Transmit audio from the Saturn. I want to send the audio from my home stereo by bluetooth to my GS3, so that I can listen with headphones on my GS3. I don't want to use a bluetooth headset. I want my GS3 to receive the bluetooth signal. This will be helpful when I want to listen to the TV (which is hooked up to the home stereo) silently on my GS3.
I can't figure out how to receive a bluetooth audio stream into my GS3. Can anyone help?
Bump
Have you tried putting the device in discovery mode and then have the GS3 do a scan for Bluetooth devices. If the phone finds the device during the scan, it should allow connection and then present whatever options are available when connecting to that device.

Does the s3 have the option of receiving audio streaming? I think only particular Bluetooth devices have that such as stereos

That's the question that I don't know the answer to. I'm suspecting that it can't, since there doesn't seem to be anyone doing it and there's no app to allow it. These posts and others suggest that it's not possible: http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...udio-from-pc-to-android-device-over-bluetooth
I guess that the apps that allow you to stream from a PC use wifi, not bluetooth.
If I had to guess. I would say No. It would be a nice feature. But I don't think our cellphones are designed for receiving audio through Bluetooth!

Is there a way that an android can acknowledge wire earphones and Bluetooth headsets at the same time?
For example what if I'm watching a movie on my android device and I'm listening to it with wire earphones. Is there a way that someone else can listen too, at the same time using a Bluetooth headset?
