Just wondering because it's a pain for me to get to a computer and download the stuff I need. My computer caught fire and I have to get another and I don't like asking people to use their laptops so I can download things.

You need a pc to run the fastboot commands...don't see if ever happening.

What do you mean? There is a one-click method for the Evo. I understand I'd need a pc but if I can download one file and do a one click unlock and root it would be awesome. One file to complete the whole process. It wouldn't be a pain to borrow a laptop from someone to download one thing.
If I root now I have to download SDK, this & that. I moved so I don't live that close to my friends. I only have an iPad and Xoom as my source of internet.
I think for a one click we would need the source code to honeycomb
sent from my Motorola XOOM
Personally I wouldn't want to one click the xoom, I learned a lot about the xoom while trying to root it and I now feel comfortable tinkering with it as a result. I wanted one click with my cell but at 600 bucks I want to know what makes the xoom tick and be knowledgeable enough to restore it if I need to. The root methods available now aren't difficult at all.

This is for 3.0, but it's one-click unlock, root, unroot, and relock.

That's for 3.0 and not 3.1. It's obvious that I would need a computer.

Its relativly easy to make a one click mthod and the old one just needs the rigt images put in the right place, all the commands are the same.

I must have read it wrong then, i thought you were having problems getting a computer. The way i read it, you were looking for a one-click method to run from your xoom. Sorry, if i would have read it right, i would have answer correctly. There is currently no way to one click root 3.1. In all honesty i hope one never comes. I understand your problem, but people need to learn to do things. One clicks are the reason we have 762 threads that start with "bricked".

I completely agree. Rooting teaches people how to use fastboot and adb correctly, good things to know.

Yeah, and you said it wouldn't be a pain to borrow a laptop to download one thing. If your computer caught fire, are you sure you want to tinker with your Xoom?
Not sure if this should go here or General, Mod feel free to move if you think it should be moved ---
To all, This is what I found when rooting my Xformer--
1st ...I am not a rookie but I wanted the rooting to go without a hitch. So I read most of what was out there and choose what I thought would be best for me as far as the method for rooting.
So, I picked Apache's posting of how to root since I had a 4-24-11 build 3.0.1 I did not have to revert back, just needed to root the device and update
This is the posting:
Where to get the root packages---
http://androidroot.mobi/asus-eee-pad-transformer-tf101-root-cwm-recovery/
2nd I would recommend watching the video by Ayman019

This is a great play by play
Finally, I love Supercurio's work it is very bugfree so I downloaded his updated rom 3.1 updated...... etc here:
Supercurio's rooted rom---
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112527
And his repacker if you want to have the tool that did the above ---
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112527
I Pushed all the files through SDK/ADB. All went great until I tried to push superuser. At first, it would not recognize, so another xda member mentioned that sometime the remount is not seen, so I tried remounting 1st time, nothing ... the second time it worked
Awesome I am Rooted but ....... nothing could see the superuser, it would not allow anything access to superuser, so I downloaded Busybox and loaded it as well, still nothing.
Then I thought since I have superuser I should have recovery too. So, I proceeded to load Supercurio's rom on the sd card and then, manually went into recovery.....
Flashed the rom in recovery, rebooted....Voila' rooted, 3.1 and Good to go......
The point of this thread is remind people, that not all units react exactly the same, usually in adb everything works pretty much the same, but as you can see, not always.
So, moral of the story, the tools are here in XDA and the devs and other members have written great how to's and provide great advice, I thank All of them for sharing their knowledge.
BTW the Transformer is an AWESOME device and rooted you can really make it operate amazingly ..........

The other good thing is you end up with a stock 3.1 Rom rooted rather than flashing a custom rim from the start

Yes this is the an advantage and unless you are looking to over clock I think the unit works very well with the standard rom.
Also Calforniarailroader here is another site to get the downloads:

How about battery life? I know the tweaking done on my EVO made a huge improvement in battery life. Most of this comes with a custom kernal/rom though, but being rooted is obviously a necessity.

Overclocking, removing system apps, running slightly modded roms of Honeycomb 3.1, etc... There's no risk since the TF is unbrickable since we have nvflash.
Is there anything I can do if I flashed the wrong blob? I got root ok but CWM did not work. I tried to flash blobV5 but now adb cant write anything to /data. Since I have root could I simply use root explorer and terminal to run these commands?
I'm kind of stuck... I got as for as to issue the ./data/local/gingerbreakBB command...
I didn't receive any permission errors or anything but it's been siting there like it's waiting to finish (looks like it's thinking), one line so far that reads [*] vold: 0000 GOT start: 0x00017368 GOT end: 0x000175e8
But it's literally been sitting there for over 2 hours...
Android Ver 3.0.1
Any ideas? Anyone?
UPDATE: Nevermind... apparently even if your runnin 3.0.1 if it's not the right build you have to downgrade... got it... rooted!
hi all
I have rooted my TF to prime 1.5V. I enjoy it, but I have some problem in android market, I cannot download and install any software directly from android market, does anyone have such problem with android market after rooting and updating?(I use Nflash method, change SKU US to WW!)
do u have any suggestion?

At the end, does the unite still get OTA updates? I think there is no CWM involved in this picture, so I am assuming the tab will receive the 3.2 update automatically?

There will always be a reason to root your device, since there will always be something you need to do that the manufacturer doesn't want or think you need.
Ok guys I just got my used never before rooted transformer and I need to know if my current version is able to be rooted! I've searched but with no results to answer all my questions. I'm no noob to rooting or xda so I kind of just need pointed in the right direction. Can some one look at my screen shot and tell me if I can use this thread to root with my current firmware version or what other thread I need to start off with. All help is greatly appreciated!

Everyone keeps posting on here that there is no root method for B70 transformers. I returned my first one and just got another one a couple days ago. First one was a B60 and the second one was a B70.
However, upon getting the second one I forgot to even check the serial number to see if it was one of the ones that couldn't be rooted. I did the one click method with the Ubuntu script and it worked perfectly.
I'm running Prime 1.6 as we speak. Clockwork installed and working fine.
EDIT: Complaining about a question mark. So reformatted so I didn't ask a question

This is a perfect example of a thread that should be posted in Q&A, not General Discussion. Quick Rule: If you end the thread title with a question mark, put it in Q&A.
As far as the question itself, not all B70s have the new SBK. The ones with new SBKs cannot be flashed using NVFlash, but IIRC the one-click method will still work. If you try to use NVFlash and it fails, you have a new SBK.

There are 2 versions of the B7O, one where both the 1-click & nvflash works & one which is unrootable atm and none of the options work!
If you have the one that works, congrats! if you have the latter one...tough luck and be patient, hopefully there will be a way to fix it soon

Use ViperMod (Option 1) to root.

There's also this here that's pretty new but it seems easy enough.

After you have root, use RecoveryInstaller to flash CWM recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
As for your tablet, yes your C10 would fall in the SBK v2 caategory like some B70 and B80 ect. You look like you have the most up to date Honeycomb firmware but as you know there is now ICS available.
Good reading if you have a little times

Hello to all
I have a Xoom from the day they came out. Cost a penny then but I thought it was great....not a iPad.
Anyway the Xoom is at it's EOL. OK, but I can still make it work good mounted in my truck (they are rugged).
I have the simple Wifi Xoom with 4.1.2 now.
I have read and read thru this site and others and it seems like it would be simple BUT some of us are not developers/programmers.
I have tried to make sense of it (why can't there just a 'One Click' root?
I need basic, simple instructions on how to root this.
Do I download the STOCK image and then what? Use CWM ok, but where do I get that? How do I put it on the Xoom?
etc,etc,etc......
So any help to get the instructions (and forget that someone is not going to ADB shell fastboot this and command line that) in a SIMPLE form for those of us who can do somethings (I can use Odin and reflashed the ICS back onto my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 because I did NOT like the JB OTA,also rooted my Galaxy S3 (metroPCS) by following simple online instructions/tools) so I am not a complete dumba$$.
But the way this is all laid out, it is confusing to me.
So can someone help?
Thanks
And my Xoom (I am sure like others) is completely stock, gotta all the OTAs and is at JB 4.1.2 MZ604 JZO54K whatever........
Again
Thank you
philmiami

Btw, you can use twrp as recovery as well. Download latest version here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28988754
