Thank a bunch! Will test for a day or so! As of 4 hours agho, wifi is great, gps is very accurate and fast to lock.
Testing for 2 days now and only issues I see is slightly more battery drain than KK1 and stability. Incredibly fast.

Been testing for a few days and found higher dl speeds by 2mb and my record at 6.75 down. Battery drain has a slight increase compared to KK1. Ill continue to stick with it.

Anyone know what's causing the 160+ word text message fail issue on these newer modems? The last time a 160+ word text sent for me was on UCKI3, which I am currently on.

I send 160+ texts to my wife all the time (we text a lot, lol) and have never had a problem. She's on ATT also but the MMS app has no idea what provider the recipient is using before it sends. I assume it's failing when trying to send and not at some other point (like mms deliver confirmation or something).

Well the weird thing is that it's happened with every new modem and I've tried to send a bunch of 160+ texts. I'll send them to myself as well for confirmation and try don't send. And I text my girlfriend a lot as well, and she's on ATT. I just can't figure this out to save my life, lol.

+1 ... I have had the exact same problem. 160+ character fails to send on any new modem. Last modem that let me was UCKI3, which I got decent speeds with and was pretty stable.
This KK2 is a little faster, the wifi may be just a little more stable... but I miss being able to send long texts
I might make the switch back to KI3 just for the long text message capability...

Ha! I'm not crazy! Anybody know anything about this? Because I honestly can't figure it out at all
I've also had issues with every new modem when it comes to the 160+ characters with texting. I'm currently on UCKJ1, its the latest one without the issue and I get great speeds on it. But I always check when a new one comes out and its always there!

Sorry if this has been addressed already, but was wondering if anyone else us having a lot of failed SMS messages since upgrading?
Running totally stock. Seems pretty consistent lately. one large message in particular kept saying failure to send... Although the recipient said he got several copies from me... It never shows as actually having completed.

Were they long texts? When using the KJ6 modem I've found (And heard of) many people complaining longer texts and picture messages would not send. Try using another modem like KI3 and see if its fixed.

I'm currently having the same issue since I upgraded to the official os. I thought maybe I did something wrong by flashing Dr honks kj1 kernel over this ROM. I even called t-mobile and the rep I spoke with was pretty condescending, but I was at work at the time and didn't wanna get irate before a meeting. If there's more people with this issue, hopefully they'll call so it can be addressed.

Try flashing another modem like my post above ;P
all kj6 and 2.3.6 roms have this problem if its even a problem that is.There is max of 160 or 180 chars you can send. When the numbers start to pop up like 5/1 while typing a long text it will almost always fail. If your typing up a long essay to your friend send it through email other wise sms is for only short messages. sms(short message server). I believe its the Tmobile network that limits this per message and theres ane asy work around of either flashing a different modem or typing short messages below 6 lines.
160 for SMS, and some cdma networks can not send / receive anything over that. You can split some messages in some SMS programs like gosms.
Switching to the ki3 moden has stopped my can't send message, however the other person still received the message even though it said the message failed to send.

I've never had this as an issue until just recentlyand it's not isolated to more than 160, even 2liners fail. CDMA limits your message to 160 chars but GSM network have never to my knowledge set a char cap on sms unless if its been recent.

Thanks for the responses. Glad i'm not the only one. It seems to happen regardless of text length, and had definitely only started since upgrading.
In regard to flashing a different modem, will that have a detrimental effect on wifi?

No, the files that improved the wifi are in the system folder, I separated them and posted a thread in the dev section on how to use those files on any room... Yes you can now have improved wifi on any GB ROM the modem.bin file, from what I've seen only delegates mobile radio

Are you using stock messaging app or something else? Which ROM?
my mms have been doing this since android 1.1
yeah.
This is how the GSM network sends Android MMS'. If you find a friend with a Sprint or Verizon CDMA Android device, you'll see it just sends as a photo. Crazy, huh?
Actually I believe this is how Samsung devices handle it. Although I can speak for cdma devices, I know my atrix and nexus one didn't do this. Its just houw the stock app works. If you use a different app like go SMS the problem is gone.
I like the landscape view in the stock app which is why I didn't make the switch myself.

Yes I'm using the stock ROM and the original mms app. I guess perhaps it did this since day one but I'm realizing it now lol. Appreciate your responses and I may try a different mms app.

Hi everybody,
We all know that ICS has made it a bit difficult to edit your APN(s). We also know that some of us have been having issues getting MMS to work when we install ICS on our Epics.
Luckily after a lot of research and a little tinkering I found a great fix that worked right away. I took the APN Settings from an Epic Touch 4g.
1. Within you Epic open your Voice Dialer App.
2. When prompted say "Open APNs".
3. Another pop up will appear, tap on the OPEN APNs message that pops up.
4. The next screen will show one single APN called Sprint tap on it.
5. On the next screen you will see the list of settings for the specific APN. Below are the list of settings that finally got my MMS working.
a. Username: Sprint
b. MMS Proxy: 68.28.31.7
c. MMS Port: 80
**ALL OTHER SETTINGS STAY THE SAME**
6. Once completed tap the menu button and tap save.
7. Reboot for good luck.
Steps 1-3 will also work for Epic owners trying to edit APN settings to use on another carrier.
Hope the info helps!
Is this more for wifi or 3g. Cause I know I have trouble sometimes. I followed your thing. Guess I'll see how it goes. Cause I don't remember when I have had mms fail for testing.

Interesting. I just noticed this today when I couldn't see an mms in an otherwise awesome CM9 RC1.
I just installed HandcentSMS and that worked, but I prefer not having the extra apps. I'll try this over the weekend.

I believe it only applies to 3G since the APLs are only used as network identifiers by mobile devices.
Interesting. Where did you find the info?

The first three steps were from another post i found through a Google search (Dont ask, i unfortunately dont remember). Once i found out how to access the APL in ICS it was just of matter of finding the APL info for another Sprint phone (in this case a Galaxy II) and entering that info in my Epic's APL.
this was one of the main reasons i installed TPR, may have to switch back to ICS, if this fixes the MMS issues!
Very interesting. Now I need to receive an mms to test.
One thing I noticed was after following all steps, a lot of other information was populated in the Sprint settings when I went back to look.

Wanted to give out a BIG thanks for this fix
I installed CM9, RC1, and had issues sending MMS. Was unsure if it was the towers in San Diego, as I was just visiting,or the phone, but as I has some extra time, I went so far as to do a full wipe and reload of CM9 RC1. Still, over several days, was unable to get a MMS to send 9 out of 10 times, no matter what I tried, while plain text messages went right away.
I rebooted my phone, tried sending a MMS, and it stuck on sending. Gave it 15-20, and even rebooted. Still stuck at sending. I deleted the message, made this fix, rebooted, and tried to send a MMS again, and the MMS sent right away
huge thanks for this! works like magic.

I too can confirm that this works to solve the MMS issues on WIFI. However, be careful; when I rebooted after applying the fix, my phone tried resending all of my past MMS messages. It really bogged my phone down, and I had to delete them in order to stop it from happening.

Would this fix work on a phone flashed to Boost Mobile?, the MMS issues is one of the few major things keeping me off anything CM9 related...

I keep seeing mentions of MMS bugs in CM10 on the VzW Galaxy S3. I've been running their nightlies for the last week or so and have yet to see any problems, inbound or outbound.
Can someone elaborate on this bug?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I'm currently experiencing two issues with MMS in the 8/23 build. Firstly, I can't send any text that is more than one page long. And I've tried with the stock app, Handcent and Go SMS. And secondly, I would say that roughly one out of every eight texts I send will not actually make its way to the recipient. It will say sent, but it won't actually go anywhere. Not even into some text limbo where it shows up three hours later. Just gone. It's pretty irritating, to say the least.
