[Q] [STATICS] Best "battery saver" ROM - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hi everyone. I'm going to do a offroad travesy, and is impressindible for me to keep the phone on, to be used as GPS. so, as the title said... For you, what's the best "battery friendly" ROM??
When I bought the phone, using FROYO and heavy use (downloads in market, wifi, gps, 3g, facebook, etc etc..) lasts for 1 day
Then, I flashed with XXKPQ, and noticed a better battery performance, almost 2 days
With MIUI (my favourite), never goes further than 1 day
Well, now I really need battery life, so... For You??
Thanks!!!

Hows The Battery Life on the HTC Inspire 4G?

i'm thinking about getting the HtC inspire 4g. hows the batt life if you turn off 3g, wifi, push mail, gps, and set brightness to 30%?
I don't turn anything off and have been getting a full day with 6+ hours of screen on time. Running gtg's ace Rom and capy's kingdom. Thoroughly impressed with the gingerbread Rom performance.

hi, newter.. thanks for replying. thats impressive. so i guess that if you turn off wifi, 3g, push mail, etc, i'm sure batt life would be 2 days with moderate use.
also, can you tell me how i can unlock this phone on tmobile?
Rooting gives sim unlock.
Just use the hack kit. It will sim unlock, root, and s-off for you.
I should note that my usage may not be typical as I use few minutes using it as an actual phone. Web, text, xda, music, some email, and a few games are what I use it for.
I was able to pull 3.5 days out of Cyanogen 7.0.2 with the LorDmod kernel and Pinky Undervolt scripts. I have K-9 set to check three mail accounts that get a fair amount of traffic with push notifications, leave it in HSUPA mode, and my brightness hasn't budged off "automatic".
I'm currently trying dilligaf's AOSP+CM hybrid with the Pinky Ultra Undervolt and have been getting some really good results so far. I'm currently at 93% after being on the battery for 12 hours.
EDIT:
Completely stock, the battery wasn't that bad but it would need to be plugged in to the charger at the end of the day, generally lasting around 15 hours.
what does unlocking the sim do??

Allow the phone to be used with another carrier.
i can go three days with three hours of screen time with TPGB-CM20110509, actually a prior version, but this one fixes an MMS problem, and current widget throws up similar numbers, so well see.
Using custom ROM packages greatly trim the fat (bloat) off and drastically increase efficiency equaling much better battery life...Rooting / flashing ROMs has been the greatest feature coming from jailbreaking iPhones...I'd never go back
Streaming, all day. I get about 6 hours .. else with internet and games and just instaling uninstalling and general playing around I get 10 plus hours.. I never use it as a phone.
with everything like described in the OP, ive gotten 24 hours out of the phone with phone calls here and there. if you turn off all that stuff, you can eek out 1-3% battery drain/hour. it's pretty good and almost always lasts me the whole day
Running stock out the box i had 12-14 hours of battery life. Loads of texting through out the day and playing a few games, on the web, gps here and there, and some phone calls. I have my brightness at 0% if not at 40% during the day with everything else off unless I need to switch it on for something.
With custom rom I get around the same battery life but with heavier usage. Texting all day long while playing games for a few hours, then theres navagation use, phone calls, emails and notifications from apps. So either way you should get good battery life.
Mine got better after I rooted and installed the Saga ROM.
Saga isn't being updated so I just installed Ace.

hi, numpangx, thanks for replying. lets say that i install gingerbread on it and turn off wifi, push notifications, gps, weather, play no games, and reduce brightnss to 30%. but make calls. do you think i would be able to get 2 days of batt life?

wow helushune thats excellent! 3.5 days on the htc inspire with that droid rom.. i should install that then. so with heavy use, calling for an 1.5 hours, playing a game, and nothing else, i'm sure you yourself would get 2 days batt life? am i right?
My stock Inspire goes from about 9 am to about 3 am with heavy use, I end up with 15% -/+ at the end of the day.

One of the biggest killers of the battery life is the massive screen and backlight. I haven't done any heavy usage testing as I'm seeing what kind of battery life I can get out of dilligaf's AOSP+CM hybrid rom with an undervolt script.
I did make a few phone calls and I think I played Rocket Bunnies/ran a few speed tests when I got the 3.5 days. There's also a pretty big dip around the 60% mark where I re-installed CM and flashed a new kernel as well. But I generally use my phone to respond to text messages and email and that'll kill the battery faster than spending the equivalent time making a phone call.

what is the best android phone with the longest battery life?

after i hard bricked my captivate im looking for new phone.
the main things i looking for is
-largest battery life
-3.5" screen
- working gps
im not playing games , i mostly using internet and listen to music on youtube.
any one can recommend me somthing ? O=
Root?
Are you willing to root the device? Many custom ROMS and kernels offer incredibly extended battery life. The processes are quite simple and laid out by developers in a step-by-step method for you.
Current I have a Samsung Vibrant 4g and am running a custom rom and kernel.
I can listen to Pandora from 8am to 12pm, texting and dicking around on the internet the whole time and am left with 50-60% battery life by 5pm.
If I don't use the phone at all it will last for about 2-3 days uncharged.

Fongwe is correct.
Doesn't matter which phone you will use, you will always have complaints about the battery life, whether be it an Android Device or an i Device or a WP Device.
Since we are talking about a phone in Android section, I will say that so far out of all those Android phones I have tried/used, Incredible S has got the best battery life(This is strictly my personal opinion, I am saying everything based on my personal experience only.).
Next after Incredible S for me has been Atrix 4G.
After that I can say may be you will get decent battery life out of a Nexus S.
Don't get me wrong about Nexus S as a third place, it has got a decent battery life, the only problem is the 3G connection kills the power.
If you have background sync, bluetooth, 3G radio, wireless and too many applications running in the background all together, doesn't matter which phone you use, it will not give you a great battery experience regardless.
This is my typical usage from those recent phones. With about 2 hours phone call, few minutes of surfing, sync on constantly with 3G connection, play casual games for a few minutes and watch youtube for about 15 mins.
Incredible S - About 10 hours - Stock ROM
Atrix 4G - About 8-9 hours - Aura
Nexus S - About 6.5 hours - CM7 (May be my phone's battery is indeed defective)
If you are at work/home/on way, consider switching off your 3G radio and you will save up a lot of battery. Also, if you get a single core processor, it uses up less battery than a dual core phone.
Good luck.
Cheers!!!
Thanks for the information guys! will try these asap
Atrix has pretty good battery life. Atrix 2 should too.

iPhone or wait for Nokia Wp.
You will always get the occasional answer on saving battery life and I think that constitutes for a big part of how you could really get a device that would last long.
I think that you should be efficient in switching applications, service and the phone itself off, if you want to have it last longer through the day.
Also, rooting it would be another good option but those who want to keep it as is, this would be no option.
New ROMs help
I have a Vibrant that I used about a year. I went through a lot of different ROMs/Kernels during that time. Battery life varied wildly based on overclocking, undervolting, open apps and apps used. Also, just like mentioned above, if you drive through areas where the phone is always searching for new connections it can have an effect on battery life as well. Pick a phone with good ratings that you like and keep the background apps to a minimum. Figure you will be charging every 1-2 days, 3 at the most.
Galaxy S II. Dualcore, used properly, saves battery.
I turned off GPS and Bluetooth on my Galaxy Captivate and the battery last 2 or 3 times longer. Turn off Wi-fi too, if you can live without it.

5 hours of battery life

hi all,
i know the battery life of the sensation isn't that great but I make 5 hours with about 1 hour of spotify (music streaming) some browsing and email checks. Also installed couple of apps but that's it.
(3g on when wifi not availible)
This just does not seem normal to me? Would like to hear your opinions.
running on:
stock battary
android revolution HD, feux kernel.
Wow, just 5 hours and your phone dies? That is AWFUL. Something is going on there, have you tried another rom?
maybe your rom is not very compatible with your radio? I am on InsertCoin (always latest) and I changed the energy mode from "maximum performance" to the middle option (don't know the name right now) and reactivated auto-sync and I can use the phone for 1.5 days on normal use. (so on gameplaying or benchmarking all the time) =)
Call HTC and have them to send you a new battery. You get one free replacement.just let them know that you're only 5 hours of life out of it.
Thanks for the replies all,
@KAwAtA,
i've only had stock and my current both ware equally ****ty.
@brandi,
I did flashed the radio that was mentioned with the android revolution ROM, do you have any suggestions?
@dunbar28205
Mabey your right, I'm starting to believe this isn't normal I did already purchase a mugen power 1950mah battery though. Will keep this updated with my findings on that one.
Is your governer on "performance"? Or is your second core somehow forced on?
battery works great for me im at 12 hours of run time and im around 50% left. check your rom and basic settings that kill battery. I also have an anker battery so that helps but really i think its the kernel and rom thats making all the difference

God, that's awful...and sounds oh-so familiar...

Maybe it helps... Sadly, one would think you get a functional device bought from the store, but all this technology is still a bit new and shiny, so it takes a lot of tinkering to get the most out of your device... It's what I've been doing with my phone for the last month, and it's a work in progress, but so far I've made some improvements
No solution works for everyone, as everyone uses their phone differently in a different environment... So all I can say is read my thread, keep reading XDA and the best of luck on your quest
P.S. That new battery will also help... I bought 2x Chichitec 1930mAh Evo 3D batteries and stuck them in my Sensation, although they are really just 1730mAh (false advertising, meh...or I just got a bad set of batteries?) I've seen a slight improvement over the stock battery
Damn man that sucks. I was having the same issue except I was average 10 hours with pandora usage, and moderate emails/txt/mms etc ....
I flashed the latest ARHD 3.6.7 XE. I followed the proper batter calebration thread on this forum (don't have the link) and after a full charge the next day, I average roughly 19 to 23 hours on a full charge. I'm still at a very moderate usage with pandora/streaming/mms/txt/blah blah blah you know the deal. I am extremely impressed. I'm on stock battery btw. I'm probably going to hook up that aweseom 1900mha battery from anker. I should be pulling over 24 hours no problem after that.
What I do also is when I initially set up ARHD I turn off fastboot in the power menu, I turn off "quiet ring on pick up", "pocket mode", and "flip for speaker" in the sound menu, and I ESPECIALLY turn off the automatic boot up of the task manager as task managers are useless from android 2.2+ and can cause conflicts that drain more battery. You can turn off boot up of task manager in the applications menu. That's pretty much it I don't know what else to say other than I'm doing awesome on stock battery atm.
Try a different kernel. I'm using bricked 1.5. First charge got me 14 hours so far at 31 percent. After the first charge run it to 5 percent and charge full. Rinse and repeat a total of three times and also don't forget to go into recovery and wipe battery stats.

5 hours is really awful. Got 2 days with moderate use with the energy ROM. I would try to calibrate and maybe buy a anker 1900 mAh
What version of ARHD are you running on? 3.6.5 and 4.1.6 had battery issues..
Buy another battery, or ask for replacement. I had 5-8 hour battery life with my original stock battery on stock ROM, bought Anker battery on amazon, I get 40-50 hours now.

Thanks a ton! I checked it out but isn't it correct that when you flash a rom the battery is auto calibrated? Battery monitor widget Pro says my voltage is:
min 3386 max 4209. Does that give reason to calibrate the battery?
thanks again everyone for all the help
I used to suffer from this issue too. After doing some research I found out that the kernel is the problem.
Try Bricker 1.5 as Galaxa12 suggested and you should notice a massive improvement in terms of battery life.
Also do some digging in Daemon Controller (tip as others suggested: Governor).
Ofc battery calibration is important, but you won't archive better battery lifetime after calibration.

I use neko's ICYSNAP 1.6 and I am satisfied with battery life, 1-2 days, and my battery isn't new

[Q] Bad battery life- help please?

Hi there,
I bought my one plus a month ago, and am getting around 3.5 screen time.
It is disappointing as I see screenshots of people with one plus who are getting 6 -10 hours screen time.
I am on battery saver mode, not using music, whatsApp, wase games or facebook, just a little bit email and browsing.
At night it is not going down a lot, but when I start using the phone, it goes down quite quickly.
(1 percent every 2 minutes, sometimes every minute). It seems to get worse every day.
If I start using GPS or video or music, my battery will be finished by noon.
I replaced the battery, and it is the same.
Attached three screenshots. (Including the night)
Help please?
Thank you!
I share you the same feeling when I see others having impressive battery performance specially screen-on time.
I have exactly the same drain behavior of yours, when my phone in deep sleep its sleep like a baby. but when I wake it its become beast awakening.
I run 3g when I am out and wi-fi at home, also running regular apps, whatsapp,snapchat,2emails,1gmail,instagram,web browsing, auto brightness, greenify. I checked with BBS and WLD but no culprit. I am on stock rom with root for the apps, no system tuning.
So you can see my setup is like most of regular users will do but noticeable difference in term of battery performance. I have no clue
Your battery life is fine, better mine
Who has a lot of SOT usually doesn't turn off/on the screen that much. The secret to achieve a lot of SOT is making long session on the screen (and having few apps, like you). So no worries I'm at 64% now with 1 hour of SOT, but I flash updates (CM 12) everyday and wake up the phone only when I need it, with 1-2 minutes sessions.

That isn't really true, I have over 100 apps installed and I turn my screen off whenever I'm not actually using it. I'm a heavy user. I get roughly six hours of screen on time.

Hi,
Well, at least I am not the only one....
The problem is that it is getting worse every day and now I lose one percent in a minute!
Horrible! I have to charge it twice a day, and I barely use it.
I have no root, am not using any of the apps, only a little bit of browsing, and checking mails.
If I try to use waze for a half of an hour or a little bit of music (max 30min, I get only about 2 hours screen time!
It seems really poor from a brand new battery.
I have no clue what to do, or what is causing it. If anyone have suggestions, i will be glad to hear!
Are you using the stock OPO rom? because I always had a poor battery life, I had all kind of protections to keep battery life but when I saw, from 100 I had 70, it was awful, one solution I saw was to flash one custom kernel, somehow improved my battery life, but the final solution was to use a custom rom, I have experienced better battery life with 5+ roms rather than the ones with 4.x.x, maybe you should taste another android flavor and check if the battery life increases
How hard was it to change the battery? Was it soldered? Where did you get a replacement ?

Hi,
Thanks for your comment.
Sorry, I don't understand much in roms ... I bought the chinese version color os, and changed it in fast boot to cm11.
My cm version is 11.0-xnph44s , android version-4.4.4
I believe this is app related. Some apps keep phones awake. I encountered this problem with my S3 because I have lots of apps. But since I made sure I only install apps I absolutely need in my oneplus, I get a fantastic battery life.

I don't have so many apps , and I installed all of them. I keep closing apps that are running on the background through the settings.
The funny thing is that it is getting worse every day.
Now my battery is going down one percent in 30-60 seconds!
I don't know what to do anymore.
