[Q] ICS V6 SuperCharger - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was setting up the cornerstone build with the "Diehard" V6 Supercharger values like found in zepplinrox's tutorial here. I found that the cornerstone build already had the values set up in the ActivityManagerService.smali file but it wasn't present in the Wingray 1.0.0 release. I created a flashable zip to put the modded services.jar into it but was wondering if this is something that is going to be standard in future EOS builds?
So that everyone else can experience the goodness attached is the Diehard V6 SuperCharger services.jar as a CWM flashable zip. It only works on Wingray 1.0.0. Flash at your own risk and always create a backup. You will need the additional files found in zepplinrox's post here. You will also need something like Script Manager from the Market.

[KERNEL][7/22/10]Darchstar's Overclocked Undervolted kernel for senseUI roms vUV 2

***Explaination***:
I, as many of us have, been using Toasts #89 Overclocked kernel since it's inception. I have been thrilled with it's performance, and that our community has produced kernel source code before one was avaliable to us from HTC. Thats quite impressive
The only cons with this kernel that I have found are:
1: Would occasionally (20% of the time?) get a Force Close when a phone call is coming in, resulting in the phone being borked, and me having to reboot the phone.
As many of you have noticed, toast incorporated a script into the kernel that makes it more likely to do this on reception of a call from your lover. Yes, this is a proven fact and can easily cause problems![/sarcasm]
2: The Application "WiFi Tether for Root Users" would start properly, and would share the internet connection over wifi as intended, but would hardlock the phone when you tried to stop the tether, requiring a battery pull to get the phone going again.
So in comes DarchDroid. I tried out darchdroid 2.6.4, and even tough it was an overclocked rom, I experienced NO force closes on phone calls, and a flawlessly working WiFi Tether.
I felt that both the problems above must be caused by the kernels, because I had never experienced them when using stock HTC kernel. So I thought it might be possible to use Darch's Kernel from 2.6.4(2.6.5 broke WiFi Tether), in a Sense rom. At the time I was using IceHoneyBun(from androincentral), after trying to make a update.zip myself using parts from darchs rom and getting nothing but boot loops, PMs back and forth with Darchstar, and Beezy(cooker of HoneyBun roms), Beezy posted a flashable zip to successfully use Darch's Kernel on HoneyBun. It worked! No phone FC, and working Wifi tether. Many people who use Toasts #89 experience the FC on incoming call, and everyone using it experiences hardlock on wifi tether end. So we thought we should share the fix, and make zips for Fresh and Damage based roms as well.
Enough jibber jabber, on the the good stuff!!!!
IMPORTANT READ THIS
Due to the folder structure for the .ko modules being different between the stock, the v4, vUV, and vUV2, you MUST run this remover to erase /system/lib/modules/* . Some of the zips below create a folder inside /modules to put the ramzswap.ko. If you flash the newest vUV 2 it puts it directly in /modules, and will not override the /modules/*/ramzswaps.ko, leaving you with 2 ramzswaps.ko. To avoid any conflicts or bugs, I am going to suggest running the remover zip before flashing ANY of the zips below. Simply put the zip on your SDcard, flash it, then flash the kernel of your choice.

DO NOT FLASH WITHOUT READING INSTRUCTIONS
Code:
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Place zip kernel zip file and module remover zip file on root of SDcard
2. Boot into recovery
3. Perform Nandroid+EXT backup

KNOW ISSUES WITH UV v2 KERNEL
*Audio pop can be head through headphones when music/sound first starts
*Freememkiller versions may be buggy due to a typo that was copy/pasted into all v4 kernels, need to redo when I get an hour or so. I should note that I haven't actually seen this problem manifest in the real world, though I think it could.
Camera Fix(thanks infinitefx45!)
Camera/Media Fix**Should work on most De-Odexed roms that DO NOT use friendstream, PM me if this boot loops your phone, and I'll edit the zip for your rom. NANDROID FIRST**, **This will revert your htcdialer to an unthemed version if you are running a theme or a themed rom, you have been warned!**

[b]vUV[/b]
*Undervolted CPU
*Fixed my incorrect settings in ramdisks that sometimes caused CPU to drop to 19mhz.
Bug is present in all V4 kernels.(use SETCPU/Oc widget and
manually set the frequency in the V4 kernels to avoid this!!)
*Fixed a mistake I made when performing freemem tweak on the V4 kernels,
those who used the V4 kernels with freemem killer tweak that experienced
lag/slowness/stuff closing when it shouldn't/, should have no problems with
the vUV kernels with freemem killer tweak.
[b]v4[/b]
*Added 710mhz default, and 768 mhz default versions(both clockable to 768 using an OC app)
*Added separate update.zips for Fresh, Damage, Honeybun, and Infinitefx
in an attempt to solve problems with failed boots on infinitefx rom, and to
allow for lowmem tweaks in fresh roms without effecting damage roms!
*Tweaked lowmemkiller settings for Fresh and Infinitefx roms
(Honeybun is already using a tweak; gumbo.sh. and
Damage control has lowmemkiller settings accessible in Dconfig)
*A Fresh 2.0b version, just for fun!(I was testing with Fresh 2.0d and had
problems trying to use the ramdisk from fresh 2.1.2
[b]v3[/b]
*Fixed Wifi, was broken in v2!
[b]v2[/b]
*Fixed for touchscreen lag
*Fixed improper auto detect maximum frequency

[b]v1[/b]
*Initial release

So it's just Darch's kernel for Darchdroid coupled with the ramdisk for Fresh/Dama(which are the same)?
At least that's what I interpreted from the thread at Android Central
.....
Zen also moved away from #89 and BFS because of the onslaught of problems that hampered his ROM with it. He's back at #65 too.
I think we're better off either waiting for Toast to fix up the kernel source (and using #65 in the mean time) or fixing it ourselves. But if this is Darch's kernel that you're coupling the Ramdisks with, you might end up with more problems than what you're trying to fix(but who knows, good luck).

So far so good. Its only untested on DamageControl.

Can I flash this over the DC2.09 with #89 already on it? or will I have to wipe? I want to test it
Also is there a way to remove the original OC flash or someway to leave me back to stock speeds?

Simply Nandroid first (incase the **** hits the fan), and flash the zip posted above for damage roms =D. No need to wipe.
Someone could build you an Update.zip using damages rom zip to restore the original kernel, if you wanted to go back to that.
Good luck, and let me know how it goes =D.
I'm using the rom posted by nfinitefx45 with DB-F-OC-Boot(fresh), testing with good results
does this also fix the GPS not locking on?
or is that just me?
i've tried 4 different OC roms and each of them i can't lock onto my position on GPS *closest is within 1000m*
on non OC roms it locks on to even what room i'm in in my house.

I know this was common on early DarchDroid Builds, but has since been resolved, I never knew of the issue on sense based roms. But on a side note, I can say the GPS works great for me on honeybun+this kernel as well as fresh 2.1.2+this kernel.
what OC roms have you tried gonzoangel?

Its my kernel, but not the same found in darchdroid. I compiled specifically for this purpose as the OP requested it. It'll only work with sensui roms as it uses the htc touch synaptics source.

Ah nvm then. I posted just based on the thread at Android Central(before the explanation). Was wondering about the synaptic drivers but wasn't sure who did the edits. Good stuff!
Just flashed and tested on DamageControl 2.09 - works great! TetherWiFi stops without causing my phone to hang - not sure about the phone call problem, as it only happened twice to me. Other than that, great job!

Ha yeah. I tried my best to interpret it but was completely lost when I tried to piece everything together with my past knowledge about the differences between your kernel and toasts(notice the 15 edits on my first post LOL). So can we safely blame BFS(or at least its implementation)?
Called my phone more than 20 times in various states with no issues. Sick work!

I can't comment on this issue, because I have not experienced data connection drops with the sprint kernel, toasts kernel #89, or this kernel.
Be sure your on the newest PRL, and have updated your profile. Do you have mobile data always on enabled or disabled?

[Q] Should I tweak again when I change a kernel?

I `m running zeus 5.2 ,this rom has intergrated some tweak script, such as thunderbolt etc..
since I have flashed a new kernel, should I reinstall those tweak scripts?and dman`s tweak in zeus rom still working even i change a new kernel?
approciate for your answer.
the tweak scripts are saved in the rom and will stay inplace regardless of kernel. but the kernel will need init.d support. the location is /system/etc/init.d if your curious or want to change or remove it.
thank you Dani
you are always the first :)
how nice you are!

[Q] Which script is best?

Hi guys i just want to know which script is best for our fit.
Im always looking for something which can improve our fits performance. So i try every script which comes in our forum. Earlier i tried lagfree v1 and slaids earlier scripts, but i felt they just had placebo effects, Then i came across v6 supercharger and kickass kernelizer scripts. These scripts are working nicely but it gets boring everytime to install these scripts after flashing new rom.
But now two new scripts are introduced in our forum-The slaidyboost v2.3 and The andrenaline engine script. I tried both scripts, but im not able to find which one is superior.
So pls i need some expert advice. Pls suggest me the best script based on your experience. Just share your experience after using these scripts.
Press THANKS if i helped you
Adrenaline engine+ Adrenaline Boost= death speed. I like v6 supercharger but adrenaline for me

[Kernel] [JB] [ICS] Voodoo Sound kernel support

Hi everyone
Voodoo kernels
I've finally been able to add support for Voodoo Sound into 2.6.39.x kernels, starting with Roach EOS3 #56 & guevor JB kernels.
With a kernel that has Voodoo Sound support added you can simply use the latest free version of the VoodooSound Market app, and it should work fine. (that shouldn't stop you from buying the voodoo sound pro licence to show your support to supercurio )
The 2 kernels zip are tailored specifically for the TeamEos3 JB rom, for other roms someone will most likely have to edit the ramdisk / scripts or simply use the patch posted into post #2 to add support into the kernels.
Please report if the kernels works for you too
This had been bugging me for a while, as the status of voodoo sound for our TF101 has kinda been on hold for a while.
Sure there is the beta app but it doesn't have most of the features from the original app.
And with the recent craving from the voodoo market app to want to overwrite the beta app, it's quite annoying
So now we can simply use the regular Voodoo app.
How to flash the kernels:
Just like any other kernels, use CWM or another recovery tool to flash the zip, then wipe /cache and reboot.
Disclaimer: The usual
Use at your own risk, I won't be responsible for any damages caused to your Transformer or to your ears.
Makes sure to test it carefully with the headphones not on your ears, before using it.
KatAudio KatAudio has now been moved into the android app See dedicated thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841851
Since our current kernels can access the WM8903 registers directly through alsa and don't even require a voodoo kernel module for that, I've added a few "KatAudio" zips to get better sound at boot time directly without the need of voodoo sound.
If you're not only after max power, I'd suggest to flash the default script "Tim_KatAudio01_Enhancer.zip"
I find it to be the best compromise between quality and power myself.
The KatAudio zip will install the command line alsa mixer "tinymix" for you and activate more or less boot scripts automatically depending on which zip you choose, so that you don't have to play with command line
(About alsa see more info in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29908141)
When I get more time I'll make an android app that can make it even more powerfull, flexible, and easier for you
I'll also create a new thread at that time, since these scripts are not using anything "Voodoo".
KatAudio Zips
just flash using CWM or another recovery
Tim_KatAudioXX_Enhancer.zip
Speakers: left speaker fix (induce volume boost too)
Headphones: volume boost
Other registers forcing, to make sure they are at their correct values.
Tim_KatAudioXX_Higher.zip
Same as _Enhancer
+ increase the headphones higher to 0dB
+ increase the speakers higher to +3dB
Tim_KatAudioXX_Max1.zip
Same as _Enhancer
+ increase the headphones to max analog +6dB
+ increase the speakers to max analog +6dB
Note that some of the scripts are maxing the volume, which might introduce clipping
If at max digital android volume you ear saturation, just decrease the android volume slightly for those cases.
All scripts above include the "Left Speaker fix", what it does is that it re-routes both LR channels through both Speakers,
that is not considered "hifi" anymore, but I don't think it matters much with that kind of speakers, compared to the benefits:
Lower Left speaker fixing + increase of volume.
From msg #2:
Tim_KatAudioXX_RemoveSpeakerFix.zip
If you prefer not to have the speakerFix activated by default, flash this script after flashing one of the above.
Tim_KatAudioXX_Removal.zip
If you want to remove KatAudio and go back to like it was before.
You can also flash any new rom on top and it'll get rid of it.

For other roms you should try to flash the "Generic enabler" zip, it seems to work fine with most 2.6.39.x kernel flavors so far, ICS or JellyBean.
For the generic enabler I've moved the kernel side code into a module and it will try to add the module for you at boot time.
(Pending that the rom has init.d support, but most custom roms should have it)
It might be a hit or miss but that shall add support for most kernels in a more generic way
EDIT: Generic enabler zip removed as to respect Supercurio's wish and preferences.
You can check our discussions in his thread if you want to see our views on that subject: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29940776
You can still use the specific kernels that have the modules inside, since for him it's not the same and is ok...

For roms that require a manual insert of the module (rom doesn't support init.d)
do the following:
- launch a terminal
type the following commands:
su
insmod /system/lib/modules/voodoo-sound.ko
kill / relaunch voodoo app.
Please make it compatible with the rayman 33 asop jellybean build!!
excellent work ! working like a charm with the latest Voodoo app from the market and EOS3-N56.
Thank's!!!!!!

Never tried his rom, but I might have a look after I'm done with adding Voodoo to Guevor's kernel..
It should be about the same if rayman has kernel source posted.

Yes, for the 1st kernel I posted, the base is EOS3 #56 Roach's kernel.
I see that you are using Guevor V23 kernel, I'm currently trying to get his #696 to compile with Voodoo sound, I'll post it too when I'm done if you prefer to wait for that one
it works very well!!
Good work!
Can you try to solve the problem with audio problem with hdmi output with your kernel?

It's a userspace issue, we're working on it.
@OP: If you ever want to do one for AOKP, don't. I'll be adding Voodoo soon anyway.

The voodoo beta or pre-alpha (or whatever it is called) for ICS works just fine on JB aokp, aosp or cm10 based ROMs that I've tried, as long as you own the paid Voodoo Plus license. No kernel support needed by design.

The beta app just turns voodoo sound on but it doesn't have any features though, and it doesn't seem to go anywhere unfortunately.
I've paid for the licence myself, but in EOS3 the beta app is not even able to map the analog gain with the volume slider anymore in the latest versions.
If you get a compatible kernel you can simply use the regular Voodoo app that works fine and has all the features.
You will also benefit from the voodoo market app updates as it seems Supercurio is still updating that one at least.

I'm not knocking your work or anything, good to see things progress, as long as you have supercurio's blessing. He got mad at me for posting a link to the app on my dropbox trying to help someone out. I was just saying that the ICS app w/license works on JB seemingly the same as it does on ICS, lacking the same features it lacked there. Still, it does improve the sound if you already own the license. I see that supercurio posted that he is going to update the market app (bug) and also update the beta app soon.

No offense taken
I just wanted to add precisions for those who've not tried the beta app yet, that way they know what to expect.
As for the kernel well, I just did it the way supercurio wanted it to work and how it was working previously, so I don't see why there would be a problem:

Free version requires a kernel implementing Voodoo sound GPL patches as you'll find plenty on XDA.

And well you can still buy the licence even if you have a kernel supporting voodoo, voodoo is definitely a great sound enhancement for the TF101, so it's a good move to thanks supercurio for bringing it originally too
First post updated with Guevor's JB #696 kernel voodoo support.
I've also added a Generic 2.6.39.x kernel enabler.
Depending on your rom and kernel it *might* work.
It might actually work for ICS roms too if they use 2.6.39 kernels...
Please report the rom - kernels combinations that are working with it.
See 1st post for updated instructions.

Try the generic enabler and report
It *should* work, unless Rayman has made major changes to the tegra sound files.
Generic enabler report: running ARHD 3.5.1 with stock kernel..... voodoo-sound module does not load with provided script. Changing the init script commandline to "insmod /system/lib/modules/voodoo-sound.ko" the module loads at boot and the old app works fine. Thanks for this.

OK, so I flashed the voodoo enabled guevor JB #696 kernel on eos3. It didn't really change anything with the beta app and license setup, other than loading the additional module, sound and control were the same. But, it did let me update to the latest market app and now I don't have to keep dismissing the notification about an update. A few more control settings than the ICS app. Looks pretty good. Thanks. I also reflashed DSP Manager from the Revolver thread which gives pretty good control and results for shaping the resultant sound further.

Ah good news then, thanks for the info
That means that it's working with ICS roms too, which is good
I've updated the Generic enabler zip in the first post.
Do you mind retesting it to make sure it works with ARHD too now ?
Using insmod is definitely better, and should be more compatible with the different roms.
The default android one lacks the -f option though, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem unless the kernel is of too different version and uses the module magic version.
