How to change the bitrate for camcorder in ICS Roms? - HTC Sensation

After playing around with the media_profiles.xml in ICS Roms for 720p video, I've found that no matter what I try I still have end up with a low 720p video bitrate of around 5mbps. (I rebooted each time I made a change to the file).
In the older Sense 3.5 Roms hacking the media_profiles was easy enough to achieve a higher bitrate.
Anyone have success with achieving a higher bitrate for camcorder recording in an ICS Rom and moving the bitrates up?
If not media_profiles.xml where else could bitrate be for a an ICS camera mod?
Thanks!

Cupcake video camera

I read somewhere that the cupcake camera supports recording in 3gp as well as mpeg. How do i change it to record in mpeg? Currently, the output is a 3gp file
Thanks
It supports 3gp,h263 and h264 encoding and output methods. Currently it is set to h.263 encode and 3gp output. I am working to integrate a better version of the video camera into snap photo at a future stage but the SDK for it leaves a great deal to be desired.
At this stage however there is no way for you to change the encode/output.
If I remembered correctly the HTC magic build from haykuro allows you to switch between the 2 output formats. I remember seeing the option but never tried it, and I am not on the H build anymore so I can't 100% confirm that right now.

I can't wait to see what you do with SnapPhoto now that there is video recording. If you can keep the speed up to par with the built in camera app I know it's gonna kick arse.

[Test] 720p playback + Antibyte 848x480 video recording

Thanks to ={antibyte}=-
Works on T-Mobile US Froyo with stock player
Libs come from Android 2.2 Motorola MS2 and ={antibyte}
Install attached zip via ClockworkMod recovery.
Testfile 1280×720 (720p), 23.967 FPS:

As the Defy has a resolution lower than 720p, what would be the benefit of being able to play 720p video; Just not having to convert the video to a more suitable format, or am I overlooking a benefit I have not thought of?
*update* I see antibyte mentiones that video playback is not smooth on 2.1 - is it not smooth on Froyo with this package either?
No need for convert files.
Maybe later we need it if we could 720 Video record enabled.
Err, the description is not clear. ={antibyte}=- says his files are for froyo, and eclair already had 720p codecs. So is it from MS2 or eclair?

i read first that antibyte only test on uk 2.51.
@ 1200 Mhz it is ok. but i think the stock player is not the best will test some players from market.
I will test, copy video file to NAND.
UPDATE: Better video performance if file was copied to NAND
a player with buffering would be better, do you know one?
at least now we can play high profile h.264 videos with resolution 480p.

Vplayer has an option to select buffer size

yes but it uses software decoding so it plays worse than stock player and is not smooth.

True, i have tried with vplayer, but now it is worse than stock player...
I remember that rockplayer had an option for choose between hardware decoding or software decoding. Im going to try this, could be better than stock.
It's only for froyo?
I have tried with stock player this video:
http://www.megaupload.com/?s=seriesyonkis&d=BQKM87PP&confirmed=1
And it runs PERFECT!!!
Details of video:
Resolution: 1280x720
Bitrate: 5827 kbps RUN PERFECT!!!
Format: avi
Size: 852MB
And details of trailer of serenity:
Resolution: 1280x720
Bitrate: 4822 kbps RUN VERY LAGGY!!!!
Format: Mp4
Size: 82 MB
WHY??????
I dont understand nothing :S
first file divx?
you beat me to it.
libs taken from uk2.51&ms2(that i have) have slight problems (random blocks).
I'll try your libs and report back in a few.
Ahhhhhh. Still the same, tearing and blockage on some clips (was fine on 2.51).
I'm gonn try replacing more libs later.

[Q] Improve Bitrate Of Video Audio Recording

Is there anything similar to this for the infuse?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104051
It is a modified camera APK for the Galaxy S that increases the audio bitrate to 192kbps and also increases the video bitrate.
Is there any way this could be modified to use on the Infuse?
I'm running the "Infused 1.5" Rom with voodoo sound fix.

Increase audio bitrate in camera app?

I want to increase the audio bitrate to at least 96kbps instead of the 60 or whatever it has and I tried to change the media_profiles.xml with no results.
I don't think bitrate is your problem big dog. I think your problem is with the hardware.
If you're worried about quality, then go buy a real camera.
im sure you can because there is 3rd party apps that can record audio in great quality I just want the camera recording to do so but thanks anyway

Possible to increase video bitrate with stock camera app?

I find the video to be a little too compressed (artifacts visible) depending on framerate and resolution. 1080p 60fps just gives me 17mbit/s wich is really low.
So what do you think, is it possible to adjust the bitrate somehow? Maybe someone can decompile the app and find the line for that setting?
This would be really great!
Thanks for your answers!
UPS
UP
Did another check to confirm this, so here are the bitrates:
2160p 30fps: 48mbit/s
1080p 60fps: 28mbit/s
1080p 30fps: 17mbit/s
720p 240fps: 72mbit/s
Audio: AAC 48kHz 256kbit/s
While the bitrate is ok for 4k video (still could be a bit higher), it is unacceptable for both of the 1080p settings. The colors really look washed out here and there are artifacts all over the video.
720p 240fps however has a pretty high bitrate, which is needed for the many pictures/second.
I would love to see ~40+ mbit/s at 1080p and a little more, maybe ~60 mbit/s at 4k.
Maybe someone with proper knowledge can look into this
Yes!
I also look forward to that!
Very much needed
Bump. Yes this would be awesome. You would think it was the camera app that needs adjustment... but I am not a dev so I can't be sure. Also, how about USB web cam tethering?
Just flash the camera mod zip from the mod section and increase all your bitrates instantly??
