Hey guys,
So I have heard of the issue with the CM7 (Wyzor's TG-Reloaded build, in my case) issue in which calls to numbers with a "+1" in front of them cannot be made. Since all incoming numbers to google voice have a +1, returning missed calls is a pain in the ass. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Does using an alternative dialer work? At worst, it might be a fix, at best it'll give you an idea whether it's the dialer's fault or the phone's. I have the ROM but my phone isn't active.

Nope, just tried a different one from the market, and it doesn't make a difference. Seems like it hangs while trying to make the call (which appears to use the stock phone app and not be dependent on the dialer). Any other ideas? Do phone.apk replacements exist?

Not that I've ever seen, and I've been around. It might be best to ask about the issue in the ROM thread, because the developer is usually the one in the best position to recognize the problem or offer a fix.

Which build are you using? I have used the last three builds of his and have never experienced this problem. You should send Whyzor a private message and ask for his input. He's helped me out before, CyanoGenMod reloaded is his baby and he is pretty responsive when it comes to things like this.
I actually PM'ed him earlier today and he confirmed that I am not the only one to see this issue with the +1. If anyone figures out how to call out with +1 or make it so that the default calls do not come in with the +1 onto them via google voice, I would love to know. Otherwise, it really is just a minor annoyance.

Anyone knows how to turn off the email notification sound while on the phone on Nexus S. It's extremly annoying and and the other person can hear it as clear as I can? This is the most basic thing and I never had this problem in last 15 years. Thanks...
goto menu->settings then scroll to notification settings
select ringtone->silent
done
All that'll do is switch notification sound to silent at all times. I just want notifications switched to silent when on the phone not at all times.
Thanks for your answer though
Never heard of this issue and sounds very dumb if an alert plays during a phone call. I can't believe it would.

Well, they do! LOL. I noticed it last night while in a call.
Edit: test it yourself. Give yourself a call from another phone, then send yourself an email.

This absolutely should be user configurable within the OS, but it doesn't appear to be.
There's an app called Tasker with a free 7-day trial version that would allow you to setup a work-around.
Tell Tasker that when you're in a call, to turn off notification sounds, and to turn them back on when you end the call.
I'm just now testing the app myself, and it's amazingly powerful in its potential.
edit: On an admin note to the mods...this thread is an example of why even some of we seasoned forum members get confused over where a thread should go. It's clearly a question, seeking a specific answer to solve a problem, and it hasn't been moved to the Q&A section, yet posts that are more general in nature intended to spark discussion are moved to Q&A just because they have a "?" mark in the title or first sentence...
but this is clearly a nexus s specific issue, correct? i'm just trying to think, no other android phone does this that i can tell. certainly my nexus one does not, and i have 4 active simultaneous emails accounts going all day for the last year, exchange account and all. but isnt this something the OS would handle and be common across all devices?

It appears to be a gingerbread thing.
I just tested it on my SGS with Doc's ROM. No sound heard by either myself or the other party on both email and SMS receipts.
Bug #103 in Gingerbread...?
Is there a website where one can submit bugs like this one so that it can be addressed in the next update? Sounds like an easy fix

Yes, you can go here, but honestly, don't expect quick results. The Google Help forums seem to get more attention, or at least feedback, from real live Google employees.
Thanks distortedloop! I just went to the website and it looks like someone already submitted the bug. Hope it gets fixed soon. Thanks again.

Same thing happens on my Captivate since I've been playing with Froyo Roms. It's kind of annoying since I use loud, high pitched ringtones because I work on loud environment.
Using the stock povided kernel with the UCKI4 leak I have sucessfully recorded incoming and outgoing call with both voices. Most apps only worked with the speaker phone on but this seems to work internally. Have not checked to see if it is a battery hog yet either. I got it from one of the I1900 roms I was playing with and I think it is still on the market also?
I take no credit for the app or the rom. Just that I found that it does work. Testing has been limited so please also post your results if you do try it......
Thanks. Been waiting for Google Voice phone numbers to open up here in Alaska so I can record my calls. Sounds creepy when I write this but with my line of work I have to occasionally reference conversations. I'll let you know ow it works.

Nice to know I am not the only one from the great white north
thank you, ive been looking for something similar to this, i like how you can make it incognito and you dont have to see it running all the time.
I have a couple of companies that keep calling me after repeatedly asking to have me taken off of their call list so NOW i will record it and save a couple of them and if they dont stop i wil forward them to my lawyer! In the state of Texas only one person in the conversation has to know the call is being recorded to be legal. (obviously i know i am recording my own calls) now if someone uses my phone and they do not know about the app on there i would not legally be aloud to use the conversation in court. (as per my lawyers information)

OK so this modem does in fact work with call recording. Awesome! I tried for weeks to get an app to record the digital input from the other caller to no avail not realizing that the modem was the issue. However this app you posted does not (for me anyways) record anything but the audio coming over the speaker. What is working for me on the digital recording front is an app called total recall. It has an auto feature that finds the best recording setup. Option 3 or 4 worked best for me. But it does record both sides of the conversation without using the speaker.
EDIT **
Looks like only outgoing calls work properly. On any incoming call the caller cannot hear me until I go click speakerphone twice, and then recording uses the microphone, meaning is does not sound very good.

Any updates for call recording? I use the MIUI port 2.1.6
There is an icon for "record" in the dialer but it is greyed out.
I live in the state of Indiana where, as long as one party in a conversation is aware, either phone calls or personal conversations can be recorded. So it's 100% legal.

Hi. Came across this site and been going through it and love what I see. I enjoy this call recording. Works well on my Infuse 4g. Thanks
Are there any updates on this? Do I have to root and load a custom rom? I have tried the app and it seems that no matter what app I use, when it starts the call, the other party can't great me until I do the speakerphone on then off trick, but when I do that the quality of the recording is pretty much gone. Have to transfer it to computer and put the columns at like 500% to great anything.

That don't work, I have tried all of them, none work without doing the speakerphone thing. I was just wondering if there is a way to record straight from the line and how stable it was on the infuse before I decide to root and go to a custom rom.

I'm not sure about your phone. I see that you are on Roger's. I'm assuming that it is 2.3.3.
If you are still stock, I would suggest calling Roger's support.
I'm using modified unofficial firmware (MUF), rooted deodexed 2.3.6 UCLB3. Once I downloaded and install the apk, it runs in the background. Every time I made a call, it is recorded in a sound file. It sounded fine to me.
Anyway, sorry I can't help more.
If anyone wants a kinky recorded phone call, let me know. I'm selling them for $1 per download. It features Bigjoe using the Note, oldbbman using the SG3 and THE AMAZING JESSICA WABBIT on the Infuse, running AEON. Sorry folks..no videos available.
So, just curious why most (all?) of the custom ROM's need to have the speaker toggled on/off on the first call after a reboot. Is this another one of those things like HDMI that's very difficult to fix?
I'm wondering if a workaround is possible. Such as taking the code to toggle the speaker on/off and adding it to the Call button. If it was toggled every time a call was made, but before the first ring it'd be pretty much transparent that it's doing it. A second workaround might be to check the last time the phone was rebooted (I'm assuming that date is stored somewhere) and if a call hasn't been made since then, toggle the speaker.
Then again, maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about

All I know is that it's a Hellraiser issue having to do with i9000 ROMs. If Linux hasn't fixed it yet, then it must be one hell of an issue to fix because Linux is one smart guy when it comes to this stuff, haha.

The issue isn't that bad given the benefits of the custom Rom's. To me (a programmer, just not a ROM one), it just seems like something that could be handled with one of the workarounds I mentioned. Granted, that means some one would actually have to do it
Maybe the final GB ROM will be out soon and this won't be an issue.

First, yes, bluetooth DOES work with most Hellraised ROMs. There are some with pairing issues for certain folks, but it's hit or miss there. Second, the first call issue I never really looked into. It didn't bother me much, and there was an easy workaround, so I focused my time on other things once the issue was discovered. So it may be possible to fix I just never got around to looking into it.

Does this have to do with the leaked ICS radio? If not, how do I fix this because I know this would be really annoying if I heard my own echo.
noise suppression
It could be a bad phone. The first one I got did the same thing on every single call. Everyone I spoke to heard an echo. I had AT&T replace it and the new one works perfect.
How do I disable noise suppression? I don't see it in any settings option

That is not an option on ICS, its in the in call menu now. I was referring to GB builds.
there was another user with a similar issue, noise suppression was a problem on pics, and he had to disable it each call. I may actually have a damaged skyrocket, I recommend warranty action

Do you have a case on the phone? If so, take it off and see how it works. On GB, people that had the "echo" problem usually could handle it by disabling "noise suppression", but ICS needs it to be disables on a call by call basis. It is one of the things (along with the "contacts" tab) that I hope the devs can add back into the ICS builds.
I didn't have the "echo" problem with GB, but it is there with ICS when I have a case on the phone. I get around it by using bluetooth most of the time.

Hey guys, I'm new here and im having some weird things going on, I had that echoing problem so I used odin to go back to stock, now when I'm in a call the mic seems to cut in and out, any ideas?
Mine is being sent back for warranty work.
The echo won't go away no matter what I try.
Sammy didn't even flinch. Just issued a repair ticket. Sucks that I will be without it while they fix/replace it.

Same thing here bro, for most people going into settings-call-additional settings then turning off noise suppresion works. To test it do that then call your home or some voice mail and as your speaking run your finger back and forth over the tiny hole by the headphone input (that is the noise canceling mic)
If you can do that and you dont go in and out anymore then you should be good to go. I myself get the same problem and have to send in for repair.
HA HA! I got this problem solved!
I bought a outterbox case for my I9100,
and same time I cought this problem!
I thought that there is a problem with the demultiplexation, changed a lot of modems and kernels...
What a funny pill was to take off the CASE!
The case is very tight and problaly because of that it transports vibration(sound) from speaker to mic! Same moment as I took it of the problem was solved!!!

Yup, same here. Sounds kind of like the artifacts you hear when you turn up a set of crappy speakers up too much - a static/crackling type sound. Seems to be isolated to skype too - sound in my other applications and normal phone calls are fine. I also have a friend with this phone who has the same skype issues.
Kind of surprised there hasn't been more posted about this issue actually. Hopefully it will be fixed with the next skype software update.
It actually crashed on me when i tried a video chat with my mom!
I think the reason is that One X is still not certified with Skype to run smoothly.
The same thing happens with my Xoom running Team EOS' ICS.
Just give it time. Skype will do an update pretty soon
I actually didn't have any issues like this. I video Skyped the first day that I got the phone and the only issue either of us had (me and the person I talked to) was that on her end the video and audio wasn't synced.
More to it, the video looks like **** too, after a while shows pink artifacts, and they grow in size, soon the whole picture become pink...On the other end they see me perfectly fine. Oh and their connection is 10mb/sec both ways...
Also one time the phone started ringing (skype) but nothing showed on the screen, not even in the notification bar. If skype used the same ringtone as the phone I would never guessed what's going on...
Skype as used be one of the buggies/resources hog/bloatware, as it is now, as it will ever be, it's not gonna change I guess. And yet, I'm using it...go figure.
