[MOD] Dropbox APK +3GB of space - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I take no credit for making this, it all goes to theos0o. I seen this in the Android Apps forum thought I would share. I tried this on my Skyrocket and confirmed extra 3 gigs for 12 months. Original post below with attachment:
Hello guys!
Hope I'm the first that has implemented this..
So, I've tricked dropbox.apk into thinking we've all got a Sense 3.5 device, so you'll get 3GBs of extra space for 12 months.
Tested & working on my SGS running TeamHacksung ICS 4.0.3 b16.
How-to
• Uninstall original dropbox app
• Install my APK
• Login & wait for the confirmation mail!
• After getting the extra space, you can go back to official dropbox builds (uninstall mine first).

Interesting idea but...
I signed up for Box and got a free, promotional 50G account. You can too, I believe, up until March 31st.

I don't want it for only a year :-(.... I've been using dropbox for 2 years already, need lifetime!

Doesn't work for me
Edit: never mind, it worked.
Tapped through cyberspace through the use of a mobile device connected to hexagonal cells

worked for me, thank you!

Thanks for the heads up, i'm up to 27.5gigs on my free account now! after uninstalling, reinstalling the apk and logging in; my desktop notified i had the additional space available in seconds. it stinks that this is only for 12 months...

Worked for me as well. Stool, I have to say 50gb for life just for signing up for Box is pretty nice.

Free 50GB Storage Via Box and LG

Hey guys just putting up a reminder that from November 30 to March 31, 2012 Box and LG are teaming up to offer 50GB of free storage.
I downloaded the Box app, registered, and a prompt popped up telling me I have 50GB of storage now.

Via Android and me.
Pretty cool.

Since I had not heard of Box, did a web search to see who the company is. The surfed there on my G2x, got the Android App, signed up and got 50GB storage. The signup says 5GB but afterwards tell you 50GB. Have to sign up on your G2X or other LG phone.
I just downloaded the BOX app on the android market registered and received free 50GB on my T-mobile LG G2x. easy as that.
So you searched who it is.... care to tell us what you found??
Company seems reputable??

Yes, seems reputable. Startup by college students a few years ago with a lot of VC and high profile users

Reading comments on the Market. People are saying you can upload files but not download? If this is true, what's the point? Gonna test and see for myself...
Okay, so maybe the deebs on the market didn't notice the "save for off-live" button. Nice but needs a desktop client.

Awesome... couldn't other devices simply change their build.prop to make it like our g2x and get the storage?
Just strictly curiosity, simple yes or no is fine .

I just got my 50GB of file storage yesterday. 50GB more to add my pile of online storage!
This would be even better if they had the free file sync like Dropbox. All functions seem to work, however the multi-select stumps me.
thats good news. I will keep tracking of this.

Box is more secure than Dropbox, but doesn't have the as many options. There is public press on Dropbox security issues, while Box has a clean record so far.
Thanks for the update....

Me too.... Worked like a charm. Fast and easy to setup.
Box is not there yet with the features but if enough people start using it and asking for features we'll eventually get there.
I only got 5gb g2x
I got this when the offer first surfaced and set up an account. I don't think I'll be using it much at all though.
-No Windows app/sync
-File Size limited to 100MB
To get sync and upgrade the size limit to 2GB it's a $20/month upgrade. Although I'm constantly reaching my 2GB dropbox limit, it's still just so much easier to use that.
thanks for the tip op, I got the 50GB.

So what happened to our 25GB free Drop Box?

I heard how HOX were all supposed to get 25GB free space from Dropbox but I don't see the app preinstalled. If you download it from the google play store, i don't think you get it either....
Using TI backup, I noticed there is something installed on our phones that relates to Dropbox (see screenshot)...anyone know if this is something we can use?
I installed it from Google Play Store and logged in. Shortly after got an email from DropBox saying I got the extra storage.

I got the upgrade from dropbox after downloading and signing in to their app. I got an email almost instantly after signing in.

Yup just download Dropbox from the playstore and install. You will get free 2GB then an email with instruction on how to get your extra 23GB.
..Gromet
my experience is the same as the last 2 replies. integrated rather well into the photo gallery as well. I wish BOX was integrated as well with my free 50GB for life...
I just downloaded it and logged in. No email or anything.
Actually, it took 2 days for it to show up on my dropbox. I use it everyday for work so I can see how much storage I got
It just magically changed with no email lol.
Maybe it was because I got mine early? Who knows.
Thanks guys, signed up and then got the email a few mins later. I don't like doing the steps though lol.
Guys,
I know I've got the Rogers OneX and not the AT&T one, so maybe this doesn't apply.
I didn't need to manually install the DropBox app. I don't recall if it showed up when I first booted my phone, but when I was adding my accounts (GMail, Exchange, Facebook, etc,) I added my existing DropBox account. Then I got the 25GB free and the app was present.
Dunno if this helps in the slightest... just my experience on Rogers.
Att version did not have drop box pre installed
Same as above Download and log in . Get email and Walla . Extra storage

I still haven't gotten it =/

DropBox
I downloaded the app, logged into my free 2 gig account and within minutes got an email that I was eligible for 23 more gigs.
Thanks guys! I was wondering about this!
Confirm att doesn't want us to have ....I mean att FORGOT to give us the app.
Sweet, one less reason to return now.
Sent from my HTC One X
Confirm it is working here too by signing into it from Settings - Accounts and Sync. I now have 80 gb...
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app
I didn't get for my already at 38gb account (yes, I do take lots of photos)
Finally!!!!!!
After 2 weeks and a nasty gram to DB, I get an email today. DB apologized gave me my 23 gigs and stated their system was bogged down, they Sorry
Maybe I spoke too soon cuz it seems to have worked now. I signed in again for the 4-5 time and got an email. I did have to go and do 5 of the 7 steps to get it though.
Have anyone tried after getting these 25gb login to a different account or register a new one? Do they give another 25gb to that account too?
I've tried that, but didn't receive any additional 25gb on different accounts..
I believe it's tracked by IMEI maybe? But then again, I've read a lot of people went into the store and logged into their dropbox on the demos and got the bonus lol...
My preordered One X had a bad screen so I had it replaced. So for my second one, I used my work dropbox and got the bonus 25gb too
Downloaded dropbox to my phone and logged in with my free account thats tied to my gmail account, and i got the free 23gb within seconds.

Dropbox not providing 23 GB free space to all Sense 4 users

I tried to use PrimoS - Inferno Edition v2.0 on my Glacier in the hope of getting extra 23GB free space but was unable to get it. I took up the issue with Dropbox support and this was what I was told:
As stated running a Sense 4.0 ROM does not qualify you for the promotion. Only phones that receive automatic updates to Sense 4.0 from their phone carriers or from HTC are eligible.

So in case someone is having the same problem and wondering what is going wrong, well, there you go.
Did you already have an account or did you make one during the setup process?
Already had an account. We had a few emails back and forth. First he directed me to the FAQ link where they talk about who is eligible and he also confirmed that he can see that I am running a Sense 4 ROM. So I asked why I didn't get the space and got the answer above.

I see...I'm at a loss. Everyone else has this working perfectly. Sorry.

Oh well... Can't do much about it.
Anyway, I'm signing up with Vodafone to get SGS2 for free and they have promised to provide a Dropbox coupon for 2GB extra space. After I add that on top my existing 18, I guess I should have enough.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

Just purchased this beast of a tablet and so far, I LOVE it. It compliments my SGS3 PERFECTLY. I read somewhere that we are supposed to get 50gb of dropbox storage out of the box, however, that's not the case for me. Is there some special code we have to put in somewhere???

All I did was start the drop box app and I had got my space
One of the first things that popped up on mine was the dropbox offer.
Sent from the past from my touch screen commodore 64.
You'd probably be more likely to get helpful responses if you had a more helpful thread title.
The dropbox offer popped up when I first powered on the device. I skipped it as I wasn't interested. Not sure how to get it back, but I assume there must be a way.
When I sighed into my already existing drop box account on my note with the app already imstalled it showed me a upgrade message. Now it shows I have 55gb storage with 3.4 used.

There are steps that much be completed within Dropbox after you register on you GNote. Once you complete all the steps they upgrade you for two years. A quick search would have revealed this info.
BTW Not a pertinent or effective title since this is already the GNote forum..

I did not receive the dropbox space either. I currently have 82 GB or dropbox space due to trying some other devices and returning them.

Go to Dropbox and finish your steps. There's 7 of them, I think.

I had to do all the steps on dropbox to get 50gb.... but its only for 2 yrs.

Had to go through the update 3 times for it to stick. Must be a lot of people doing the same thing.
Thanks for the heads up.
The day I trust AT&T with my data....
But thanks anyway for the link! I'm sure several people will try it out!
Yup. Took me 3 tries too. I think, for obvious reasons, AT&T just doesn't want to give away the space. They're hoping you'll give up and say, "It just doesn't work" but stick with it...3 tries and my locker says 50 Gig. Thanks a bunch.
Worked for my wife and I. Thank you. I guess we were lucky, cuz it stuck after the first try. Now let's hope the locker isn't some crazy battery drainer, or just end up being some buggy, crappy AT&T garbage.

Thanks, worked and sticked on the first try. At least I got some space to store my stuff at. :good:
I set that up and pic uploading and assinging to folders sucked
i will stay with dropbox/shutterfly/google+
although i don't really use google plus, just play with it
Tried 3 times on the site, but it wouldn't go thru. Worked 1st try on their app.
Probably won't use it because of G+ and I have a 25GB Pogoplug account for life.
Already got the 50GB dropbox storage. Thanks though Maybe sometime in the future when i need more than 50GB cloud storage..lol
Good catch. After creating the locker account, the upgrade process was pretty clear the free upgrade to 50GB is a limited offer, but said nothing about it being free for a limited time. Hopefully that means it's a permanent, free upgrade.
Maybe a place to store another backup of my music files ? It's hard to think of anything I'd actually trust to put on any server related to AT&T 'tho.
