i have recently rooted my tf101 and I really want mc3 but I have no idea how. Some1 please help.
You need to change your build.prop to a different device
/system/build.prop
instructions please
Since you have root access, you need to you a file manager that uses it like Root Explorer. Be sure to select Mount R/O on the top of the Root Explorer. Now you can edit your files. Navigate to /system/build.prop and find:
ro.product.model=EPAD
ro.product.brand=asus
change it to:
ro.product.model=A500
ro.product.brand=acer
save it and Modern Combat should work for you
i change it, but it still doesnt show up in the market
This application was not designed to run on our devices. stupid ass GameLoft designed it that way. It's a serious kick in the pants, but it is what it is.
Did you reboot after resetting the build.prop?
you'll need to tread lightly, talking about installing non intended game, or cracked games is considered warez.
yea i rebooted and still nothing

Really? Installing a game you still have to pay for but simply have to edit your build.prop to access on the market is really considered warez here? Hmmm.. i figured as long as you paid for it and procured it legally it wouldn't matter... what about if i download an app to my phone and use titanium backup to save and then restore that file on another device that I also own, just because of market incompatibility? That would seem to be almost the same thing.. and having hacked hotspots is definitely something we shouldn't be discussing or distributing if the former is considered warez? I have seen this discussed openly with no one warning of this. Just wondering not trying to be argumentative fyi.
i dont mind paying for the game, I have read other discussions about changing build props, and i just wanted to do it and get the game. Im in college and all i need is a game to get me through the day between classe, and being a COD fan, this game would help.

Because this typically leads to "can someone post a link to game x?" or "where can I find a modded apk?" which is definitely warez. What you talking about is fine but almost every thread discussing games seems to lead too it and a mod shuts the thread down so people have become eager to make sure the discussion doesn't stray into these areas. There is a thread in Apps and Themes that discusses Gameloft games in particular and which ones work and which ones don't.

That is what I was assuming, that he was saying it could 'lead' to posting or asking for warez. So to clear this up;
If you love android, you should hate warez pirates. Especially here on XDA developers..since pirating is the best way to demoralize developers and keep them from developing for Android market, and the Market is the heart and soul of Android, without it the device itself and OS is not fulfilling it's potential. So, love android- don't pirate or you are killing what you love.
But that is why I was confused because I don't see changing your device ID to access other apps that are in theory compatible but not listed as compatible in the market as anything close to even bending the rules..sounds pretty legit to me IMO. So, thanks for clearing that up for me

Ok so now that i FINALLY got mc3 working lol, how would i go about getting my Xbox 360 wired controller to work with it? I have the transformer dock and i have used it with other games, but what's the trick to getting it to work for mc3?
How did you get it to work? I just purchased it for my Droid 2 Global and am currently downloading it to my phone. I backed up the apk and installed it to my TF101 but it will not download the additional data. What steps did you take to make this work? Thanks in advance.
I also got my PS3 controller working by just plugging it in, turning on my bluetooth, then unplugging the cable. It paired automatically. IDK if MC3 supports a controller but shadow gunner does.

Can anyone explain to me how this really works? I know I'm supposed to edit the save.dat with a hex editor, but I cannot find my money in the hex. Also, what is the save2.dat?
Let's say I have 134321 credits. In hex, that would be 20cb1. Now, how I am going to edit that value so I have millions/billions os cash/rp? I don't have this money, I just took that as an example. Let's say I want to start off clean with 15000 and 5 rp, how can I turn that into millions/billions at the very start?
Also, I've noticed that the hex editor I use changes the permissions of the dat file when it saves it. Should I change the permissions back to what it originally was or should I keep it that way?
Not one to endorse cheating, but you could always use CIH2 from the market.
You need to have root to use it.

I will download and see what this might be. Even though you do not endorse cheating, I should tell you we're in a "hacking" section.
Can you please do me a favor? Install that app, and upload it for me? I cannot install it (not even using the Market site).
Hacking would imply you were going to modify it for the benefit of everyone else, not modify it so you have an "unfair" advantage over everyone else.
You can find it HERE, If your unable to install it, then its not suitable for your device. I'd suggest hacking it to make it work.
About hacking it to make it work, can you tell me if I can find a hacked version of Drag Racing for my Samsung Wave II with Bada?
I am so desperate to play that game and when I found out that on the Samsung Apps of my Bada I couldn't find it I was destroyed. So can someone tell me how can I make it work on my smartphone (beware I don't know nothing about hacking) or tell me something regarding to it?
Is it possible to hack, or is it hacked already (though I didn't find it) or are they now developing the Bada version of Drag Racing?
Don't hack ! Play the game
You misunderstood. I wasn't talking about hacking the game in order to achieve RP's or In-game money, I'm talking about a possible hacking way in order to make it work on my Samsung Wave II, because it isn't available for Bada OS as far as I heard and searched.
The game can be found on Android Market and for Iphones but the Samsung Wave II has Bada OS and the game cannot be found on the "Samsung Apps" page of my phone.
SO I was wondering if is there a version of Drag Racing that works on Bada also or is it in development right now? Cause I am desperate to have my phone's OS from Bada to Android and I can't do that until there is a more stable "AndroBada" OS. So until then, can anyone help me with my obsession for the Drag Racing game?
Btw, the Samsung Wave II has the same configuration as Samsung Galaxy S and the Galaxy S has the game available, so I don't think it's impossible, that's why I am trying to find out what's up
Don't try 4-shared or online "hack tools" for any games.....
I, for one, don't care what your reason for hacking an .apk is. To each his own. If you do hack, chances are you will be unable to connect to the server to compete in online material and your results will not be uploaded to the Drag Racing servers. That being said:
Don't use the files you find on 4-shared or online when searching for game hacking tools. The only thing you will get, most of the time, is survey after survey after survey and then some ads, and then nothing at all to do with your game. If anyone needs a "hacked unlimited money and Glu gold" Deer Hunter 2014, I have one that I created. But again, like I said, nothing will upload to the servers and after you have killed everything, bought every weapon and had your fun...... it will just be boring.

I just saw this site listed in an article on AndroidSPIN. Here's the link to the article:
A New Solution for Finding Tablet Optimized Applications
The part of the article that piqued my interest the most was this:
It’s not an alternative market but rather, it displays apps that have been SPECIFICALLY designed for tablets then links them back to the Android Market. Many devs claim their apps are optimized for tablets but in truth, they simply mean the app now stretches to fill the screen on a tablet-that’s far from being optimized. None of this “optimized” nonsense here. Each app is tested to make sure that it is actually designed for tablets; meaning the UI has been enhanced in some way to take advantage of the large display. It’s definitely worth a look. Thanks!
The site it refers to is: Tablified Apps
It's worth a look.

This site just made me sad. It is a great idea and I appreciate the work put in, but it only serves to highlight the utter lack of tablet optimized apps currently available for Android.
Great site. Thanks for this (Thanks button used with pleasure). I've only had a quick scroll and already found two apps that I hadn't heard of that look really good.
It's great to see people furthering the cause of Android tablet optimised apps. The more exposure there is, the more developers are going to be encouraged to develop for tablets.

It all depends which country you live in. I think it's only in the USA you get the tablets section (possibly Canada too).
Edit: well I hate to be a killjoy but the first app I saw on that site is the game 'Stupid Zombies', which isn't a tablet optimised or made for tablet app at all and certainly isnt a 'true' tablet app. So not sure how that site is sorting apps just for tablets, and perhaps others on there are the same, but I didnt look further. Maybe that's a one off.

If you found a missing app, there s a "submit an app" section on the main page. This site should fulfil itself if people just take 1 minutes to share their discovery.
Now what really is missing is : ..... A TABLET App ! trololololol.

let me explain how it works for games because there isnt a clear cut line. a games doesnt need to be 3.0 specific for it to work on tablets. people complain about not having a tablet games section then complain when i put a game up. this is how i determine if the game is a tablet game or not. i actually look at the Apple app store version. Stupid Zombies is a tablet game. how do i know? because the same version of that game is offerred on the iPad and on the iPhone. I know this because you see that theres is only one version of the game in the app store and there is a little "plus" sign on the corner of the app icon. this game was designed for tablets and phones. same thing applies for the Android market. Im not sure if you even bothered playing the version of stupid zombies on the ipad and iphone/ipod...but i have. theres no difference between the two. i spend a lot of time testing these apps and games. if one app didnt make you want to look any further, well, i guess its your loss then. i hope people understand that its not always clear cut. thats why theres a voting section. if you think the game/app shouldnt be on the list then please send me a quick msg. it takes two seconds. theres a button right under the app that says "send enquiry". notify me and ill let the people decide if it should be on the list or not. perhaps i should add stupid zombies to the app voting section.
as for the people who have apparently gone through the entire site in a day, im sorry i cant fill the apps fast enough...im the only person doing this right now. hopefully help comes soon. if you find an app then take a second and submit the app. thanks!

I agree with this methodology 100%. Keep in mind this site is brand new and is still growing. That coupled with the sad fact as many of you have pointed out that there are just not that many Tablet designed apps just yet. Give the site a chance folks contribute to the list... we will all benefit from it in my opinion... not that it should mean much since I just joined.... but still!
as far as stupid zombies I play that game on my transformer daily (its addicting) based on the above criteria it fits as a tablet app imho
Thanks and I am glad to be a part of this community and looking forward to getting flamed/ accepted here.

You totally misunderstood what I was saying and the tone. I wasn't slating your site by only saying id looked at one. I was saying id looked at one and not had time to look at more, and was unsure if all the apps were not 'true' apps or not, so i didnt want to judge just from looking at one, just report back immediate findings. I can see why you thought that though. I applaud your efforts.
Anyway I disagree with your thoughts on 'if an app is works fine on an ipad it must be ok in honeycomb, or for an android tablet', but hey if all humans agreed with each other the world would be a boring place. In the case of stupid zombies yes it works fine in honeycomb but its still not a 'true' tablet app and the developer doesnt claim it to be.
I think we can all agree there arent that many honeycomb specific or optimised apps anyway. Get developing people!

really? so...
IMDB, Movies and about a dozen other apps dont have any mention of being a tablet app in the market, does that make them not a tablet app? Sure they aren't games but still, by that definition it would weed out a lot more than just games. honestly, if i waited around for all developers to post that their apps are for honeycomb/tablets then i would have nothing on the site.
anyway, until someone give me a better solution for posting up games, im going to do what i think feels right. comparing them to their iPad counterparts is CURRENTLY the best solution there is. i check for graphics, gameplay, controls, etc. if its identical, like how stupid zombies is, then its a tablet game.
games like burn the rope will not be on the list because the controls differ from the ipad. the ipad has on screen controls to move the rope instead of having to wave around your tablet, looking like a fool. so thats an example of where the game looks good on phones and tablets but still NOT for tablets.
i hope this clears some stuff up. if anyone has some suggestions on how we can distinguish tablet games then please let me know. thanks!

I notice its very difficult to find a legit fun run hack. Everything is a scam. Truth is, you don't need to download any thing.
I got tired of the bs and went snooping through the game files..and created my own hack. If your rooted it will work for you on ios or droid.
Before I post what I know, I'll need clarification that its ok to do so here. Its not so much of a "hack" as a single file modification with a game engine.
This "hack" is not anywhere else online. When word spreads this will be a busy page.
Can I get approval from a mod or dev before I post?
So far it has worked with all game updates and with my touch pad (cm9), galaxy s2 rooted, galaxy s3 rooted, and my other galaxy s3. If your jailbroken it should work just as easily with ios.
Thanks

No, it is not. And while I can't speak too much about it, it's not just a side-load onto any device. So don't be holding your breath about someone uploading the APK and getting all the features running this week.
right....because it sooo hard to make rudimentary changes to a launcher.
The APK is called Dashboard.apk. It resides in /system/app and can be launched as a normal app.

You're the one going around posting false information. And asking for a system dump is not "demanding a bunch of stuff".
If you want to get into a pissing match about who's done more to help the XDA community, you're gonna lose. I've done alot more than post some roms for the EVO 3D. If anyone's a troll here its you.
And 20x more people have found my comments helpful. So you're still trolling. What false info have I given?
Unlike you i'm not a thanks whore, and the thanks meter wasn't even implemented when I started posting on XDA. I have released numerous firmware images and sbf files that would otherwise have not been obtainable, saving countless devices in the process(See the technician only Xoom recovery file that was the only way to restore a bricked Xoom for months after release). That's a little more important to me than some likes.
Oh and False info? You just said not a few moments ago it runs like a normal app.
Now now boys, calm down.
I must admit I am on legions side on most of his points so far. This is a community forum for the general public and what we do here is Share and Mod. I do believe "agrabren" that as you are part of the Nvidia team you don't want to see parts of your product ported and such, but the product is now in the hands of the user and so now it is up to us what we do with our purchases.

It didn't occur to me that I might need to explain that in more detail, but in hind-sight, it does need clarification. What I mean, and meant from the beginning, is that the framework doesn't issue any "magic" to launch that app. There's no special "back-door" entry into that APK which makes it work on the device, nor is the Intent anyway modified. My natural instinct is to distrust every aspect of a system app that doesn't sideload correctly. In this case, I gave extra insight into areas of attack on getting the APK to load on other devices by eliminating one method a company could use for an app that has a special method of launch (the center button on the device).
So my statement, properly clarified, is that the APK itself has nothing special about it in regards to Intent launching or its AndroidManifest.xml, but that without some efforts with other components, will not run directly on another device, especially one based on a non-Tegra device.

Great, except I've actually been trying to help most people with most parts of ROM sharing and modding. I've already said that I'm going to post the OTA1 system and boot images, in their official entirety, as well as I'll probably post a rooted version as well. I've been helping people prevent bricking their devices.
If you'd rather I just go away, I'm happy to. But I wouldn't expect anyone else from NVIDIA to be reaching out to get CM10.2 up and running on this device, or to get a custom recovery up and running quickly. I've never objected to him getting the system image, I'm all for it being uploaded and even promised to do so. I'm trying to help clarify what will work easily and what won't. I even answered the question that nobody else had, the APK he's asking for (because he didn't know the name of it) is Dashboard.apk, and it resides in /system/app. His contributions right now to the SHIELD forums on XDA are: Give me the system image, give me some APKs that may be on the device! That rubs me the wrong way as a person who has spent plenty of time developing ROMs for different phones, helping fix kernels for multiple CM-supported devices, and who has *always* fought for companies to give to the community. Unlockable bootloader? Yeah, I was part of that push. I'm trying my best to get as much source as possible made public.
Maybe I came off poorly in this thread (because this was after the thread asking for an apk that has only been demoed at tradeshows and special press meetings). So I'm sorry if I came off wrong, but while everyone else is helping each other out, he's just demanding stuff.
I what world do you live in that posting a thread asking for a system image and a possibly pre-loaded app qualifies as "demanding stuff"? Why should I have to have done anything to be worthy of your approval to post such a thread?
There is a huge conflict of interest with you both working for Nvidia and unofficially releasing official firmware and hacks, so frankly no, I don't trust you being involved in this devices xda development.

So a guy who doesn't own the device is not going to trust ROMs I make for a device he doesn't own. Oops, no loss to me. You can go back to trolling, I'm done with your thread. You have your system image and boot image in either manner you want it.
Oops, my bad. It wasn't your thread, you just came into this thread to troll me. My mistake.
Raptor, if you check in the Android Development section, you'll find the system images. I'd suggest the ZIP version, because it's both smaller and already extracted. The system.img is an uncompress image to be flashed via fastboot in case someone messes up their system or boot partitions.

We don't talk about that sort of thing here. Nothing that cheats developers.

Um...sorry,didn't know that it could cheat developers...
I've also seen another thread similar to my question, but their result was incompactable with my device.
So how exactly would this tool cheat devs? Not to sound rude or anything, just out of curiousity.
Also,i will remember not to post such things in the future.
Sorry devs!

Anything that bypasses in-app purchases means the developers who spent their time and money creating it won't see that return on their investment. Yes, I understand that you're unlikely to spend $99.99 on gem/gold packages, and just want to have fun with the game (hey, I won't deny that I haven't done it), but there's also developers here (and elsewhere, of course) who make free apps with "Pro" versions optional to purchase for a buck or three, and it's not cool to cheat them, especially within the same community. So to avoid any grey area, there's simply a blanket ban on discussing bypassing in-app purchases or warez (hacked, free) apps and games.
