[Q] Can't find any media neither on music player nor on gallery - HTC Sensation

I have "Sensation XE"
Once I was transferring some data via USB storage my SD card got some virus I scanned it with "NOD32 V4" and cleaned it
The virus changed the folders attribution to system hidden folders so I restored them to the normal folders but it didn't make any change in the problem so I copied the media in every folder to new folders but it didn't make any change I changed the rom from HD Revolutionary to Black Ice and I have the same problem
I can see the media I have through file managers like astro
Help me plz

I have had the same problem since first switching to ics. Many people have solutions. With ext4 touch recovery you have the option to clean or fix the sdcard, it works for some but not me. The only other thing you can do is format the sdcard and try again. I've been lazy and haven't formatted yet so mine us still broken. Also no custom ringtones either.

Still the same problem
Still the same problem

After a fresh install everything works for me. I can set ringtones and all my pics and music can be found. Then about an hr later nothing shows up. I know other people have this issue, but I've just kinda dealt with it until I see someone with a fix.
I'm on VI 3.5 with the SD card it came with, dunno if that matters but it could be a SD card deterioration issue.

Bump... That is a detailed post about a similar problem on all cm7 & cm9 builds. There is explanation of why the SD media disappears and are testing the patch.
I know its cm9 and VI is sense based but they talk about the android os itself so maybe, just maybe its an android problem and can be easily patched.
There is a strange culprit that was causing some of the problem... Google +

yeah sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. I've just kinda gotten used to it. It is not cool though, no ringtones and no pictures. Unless I just take a pic then it shows up for a while.

Slow Transfer Speed (USB)

Hi,
using MIUI rom right now, and I noticed that copying data from PC to phone is slow as hell (200KiB/s). It was OK while using the stock HTC rom. However when I go to the recovery and mount sdcard, transfer speed is relatively good (4MiB/s-10MiB/s). Does anybody know if it is a ROM related problem, because nobody from MIUI has posted similar issue.
Thanks for any tip or advice.
What is the sd card cache size on miui? Stock htc rom it was limited to a poxy 128k! I use this app to bump it to 2048k.....
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.sdincrease.it
See if that helps.

Hey man, is that ok to use? I mean does not destroy the sd?

Most custom roms have had this tweak as standard for a while, and I've not heard of any issues with cooked SD cards. My class 6 SD card can be written to at 6MB/sec, so I shouldn't expect a cache of 2MB to push it too far. I've had the same 16GB card for 2 years on custom roms with this fix. No problems here.
I'd say make sure you don't have the cache any larger than your SD card class. For example, if you have a generic class 2 card, I'd perhaps only raise the cache to 1024k. That's still 8 times better than stock!
Use an app called "SD Tools" on the marketplace to run a 'before' and 'after' speed test.

No, it doesn't help. It's still the same.
I'm afraid that I can't remember where I've read this, but I believe that I've previously read somewhere in the forum that this is kernel related.
So possibly try stock kernel and try again.

Hi,
Isn't that a job that Titanium Backup will do?
Download the app, then just reload the data only.
Thanks but I backed up the app with titanium back up because I didn't buy them from the market there from gamelofts website I've tried restoring them with data, without data ,app then data uninstalling and restoring infact every combination you can think off but no luck they just won't see that the data they need is on the sd card

Hi,
I really do not understand how that cannot work.
Titanium saves the information into its own zip backup.
Whenever I save a game's data and then restore on the new ROM,it works flawlessly.
Do you know the games I'm talking about? There the hd ones from gameloft (nova ,ashphalt 6 hd,modern combat etc) you download the actual game which is about 5 mb then on first time opening they download about 500 mb of data files to the sd card to make the game run . Now I can install the game no problem with tb but on opening, it won't reconize the data files are already there and asks to redownload which isn't a big deal apart from its really slow at times but as I said before I flash roms quite often and its annoying to have to download that much data that is already there

I have actually bought most of them... I still have problems with the Asphalt5. I also have a problem downloading it, I believe because it recognises the Sensation. When I install it on my HD2 (which my daughter uses), no problems. The rest do function, but not the ones from blackmarket, only the original ones.
Mine are all originals and it doesn't all ways happen sometimes they reconize the data is there straight away other times not and I have to wait 2 weeks for the download to finish

SOLVED (sort of)
After a lot of playing around I found a method that works maybe 7out of 10 times , keep the games data files (usually under gameloft on sd card) backed up to your pc, now before you reinstall the games with titanium backup delete the game files from sd card then reinstall and then add the files back to the sd

CM9 question

I'm having this issue where everything that's on my SD card is doubled sometimes tripled. So I have triple of the same pic/song/video. My question is will doing a factory reset on CM9 erase anything on the rom? I know it will clear all my data and apps but will I still have root and the same version of CM9? Noob question I know.
Sent from my S2 Skyrocket running CM9 9.1.0 stable
And if you have any reason why my ex SD card is doubling I would love to know why. Thanks guys
Sent from my S2 Skyrocket running CM9 9.1.0 stable
I have that too, but only for ringtones and notifications. Not sure why. Drives me nuts.
Yeah I have over 1000 mp3 and now I have 2300 and the ones that are copies don't even play!!
Sent from my S2 Skyrocket running CM9 9.1.0 stable
yeah i used to have this problem but only on skyics. not really sure why...
anyways you can go to settings > apps > then media storage and just clear the data in there.
the duplicates came back when i did it but not for a couple days. hope this temp fix helps =D
Hmm, are they duplicating on the actual sd card? Or on the internal sd card/internal memory?
Edit: and to answer your question. You'll be fine with a factory reset. CM9 will be fine and you should not lose root.

For me, I believe they're only duplicated in the notification/ringtone dialogues. I haven't actually looked on the SD to see. Last time I looked, I think I had 5 separate instances of the Facebook Pop notification, for example, and 3 each of the ringtone and 2 notification tones I created.
Interesting I checked mine, and I am not doubled on anything. Maybe pop into root explorer and check? It would be interesting to see what you find...

I did find 2 instances of the Facebook Pop (both in /sdcard/media/audio/notifications and in /emmc/media/audio/notifications), but only 1 instance of my created ringtones.
I need to go through and clean up my internal and external memory, I just don't know what to delete.
I have the same exact problem and im on cm10.....wonder if its a bug in cyanogenmod??? Clearing the media storage data as mentioned works but only for a day or two.....only happens with my ext sd card too.....also formatted my sd card and tried a different one as well and got the same results

I'm using Solid Explorer and I am not getting any duplicates at all.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
They are duplicating on my internal. I removed external and deleted the pics. But I can delete songs on apolo for some reason. And I can find the duplicates on my explorer. So annoying

I had a thought on this...
CMx and AOKP recognize /emmc, /sdcard, as well as /mnt/emmc, /mnt/sdcard, /mnt/sdcard0 (external) and /mnt/sdcard1 (internal). Those extra recognitions might be contributing to the duplicates...
I have that issue too lol

I can confirm that I do not have this issue on aokp jb, it was only an issue for me on cm9.
Sent from my SGH-I727
if the rom you're using is also copied to the sd or internal storage and uncompressed , the system reads the true file and the one in the "spare" uncompressed rom on sd .. result is "ringtone"*2 or notification *2

Check this things first,
connect the SD card with computer & check Whether your SD card can read/write the data from PC or not...!!!??
Eject it and again Re-check it...
It seems that your SD card is dead..and might be u have lost the read/write permission... :finger-crossed:

I guess it's byebye pictures
Now use dropbox and upload all your pics
Very usefull when i accidentaly formated my sdcard

Yeah I learned my lesson..
Just look at the bright side, good thing we have an sd card slot available or else it would be the internal storage that gets damage.
Take xeloni's advice, use dropbox. It has an option to upload pics automatically. I do it set to upload only on wifi
