Hello,
Every time I install new rom (complete wipe, install rom) I got a fresh and clean OS. But, when I go to market, phone is starting to download apps that I used to use, but I don't want them. I tried to disable "settings-privacy-back up my settings", but application still come unwanted.
How to loose all previously installed apps?

First disable google backup feature during initial setup.
Then
Setting---->Apps---->All
Select market .
Clear data.
Now open market .
Log in and disable auto update.
This should fix your problem.
I will give it a try when next arhd comes out. Will disabling google backup feature "remove" my contacts?

You don't have to disable backups. Just don't click "restore this phone from a previous backup". Make sure that box is not checked.

I have my Nexus S running stock android and its rooted. Want to switch over to CM7 RC1. Since this is my first time I am concerned about the 175+ installed apps and their data
My first back up using Titanium was a "Backup all user apps and system data"
Over a week I have installed few more apps and upgraded few. Now I have run "Backup all new apps and newer versions".
Have also verified backup.
[Experimental] Migrate system data is unchecked.
Should I be using this option ?
Has anybody tried migrating system data from stock android to CM7 ?
Will I have to perform "Backup all user apps and system data" again to back up system data ?
I hope I am on the right track and not missing on something
And I should copy SD card data as it is and copy it back as it is right ? Anyways to do away with orphaned data ?
i've never used the migrate system data option, to prevent weird bugs from getting a life of its own
it's safer just to stick with user data and apps when you restore
for backup i always backup everything regardless
So do you use "Backup all user apps and system data" option everytime before u flash rom ?

That is what I do. Usually, I try to back up everything every week or so but I generally clear out all backups every once in awhile too just to get rid of stuff I don't want anymore.
Okay thanks

same here
also there is an option to enable the automated scheduled full backup
Yep. I think it would be a good idea to schedule it during sleep time/charging time and also to upload it to your dropbox account.
Hey folks,
today I decied to move back from CyanogenMod to Stock rom.
So I backed everything up and installed the PreRooted Stock ROM.
Now, the phone wants to download and install every app I ever downloaded.
But I wanted to decide for myself wich Apps I want to install and wich not.
Is there any way of preventing this behaviour?
Thank you,
horst2k.

Thats the solution. I thought, this option will backup my data in the future. Thanks a lot!
You can change the settings in settings - privacy. You can check backup this device, will work for new rom installed, just un tick restore. Before you add google account.
Alternately just don't enter google account, simply install titanium backup (save the apk or you'll find that some custom ROM s have it pre installed just for this reason) and use that to restore your titanium backup of ask your apps.
Swyped from my Desire S using XDA Premium
Hmn, for me it doesn't work to untick the box, it also download all the apps. Really annoying especially when on data connection as I use all my "fast" mb's
I cancel them as fast as I can^^
When setting up new ROM don't switch on mobile data

Can confirm that disabling the backup on the initial setup is not always working (noticed on several ROMs so far)
Software version 1.46.498.1 Android 2.3.4 Sensation 4G Rooted S-off HBoot 1.18.0003
First I tried flashing some roms with Jelly bean - Things seemed to go OK then after startup screen it freezes then reboots on the "instruction screen" it reboots to the desktop and the app button will pull up icons ,then freezes and reboots. I tried some different roms in different versions of android and the exact thing keeps happening. I looked everywhere but couldn't find the answer to if I need to have the same android firmware version on my phone as the rom I was trying to flash. I tried to install 4.0 but it did the exact same thing the same way. All attempts to upgrade in any way have failed.
I have tried full wipe, wiping cache & delvin cache. I have tried not doing that & all the same. I have a nandroid backup thank goodness that I have reinstalled 20 times trying to get anything to work.
Solution found: Flashed CM 9 and the google app. No titanium backup. I installed it but no Icon.
Still trying
I put PG58IMG.zip on my SD, ran bootloader and it readsG58IMG.zip No image file
Also in pink in the top left read LOCKED is this it? I have rooted my phone.

Try to clear settings for titanium backup, uninstall it and install it again.Restart your Launcher and clear your Launcher settings if it is necessary.Check if the app is frozen or you have hide it from your Launcher.
Inform us if it helps you!
**Before you post try to reboot your device. If you had it installed on your system partition reboot into recovery and clean your dalvik-cache / It would be nice to clean your cache partition too**
I only see a couple options for the launcher and showing/not showing icons isn't one of them. It says pro key installed but can't start it. Under app management all fields are darkened except uninstall.
Funny, the unpaid version works fine.

The "Titanium Backup PRO Key" for titanium backup is a key that unlocks the free version of the application to pro version. So it is natural the "Titanium Backup PRO Key" has no data to clean! You have to install the free version first!
Hmm
I'll try that. Makes sense. I don't see yet how to "link"them
Ok so I have a weird problem that I could not find a solution googling for a few hours. I got a nexus 5 back in February. According to "My Devices" on the google play store site it was registered on Feb 25th and shows last used on Feb 27th. I have noticed that I couldn't remotely install apps from the site but haven't tried to trouble shoot it until now. Also the android device manager does not work. I am rooted but using the stock ROM. I've been using the phone itself with no problems. I get app updates, use the google+ picture auto backup and other services on the phone. The only problem seems to be that I am not linked to the google play website with the nexus 5. Anyone seen or heard anything like this?
I tried this below but it didn't work:
Open Google Settings from your device's apps menu.
Touch Android Device Manager.
Uncheck Allow remote factory reset.
Go to your device's main Settings menu, then touch Apps > All < Google Play services.
Touch Clear Data. Note that this action doesn't remove personal data.
Go back to Google Settings and select Allow remote factory reset.
Restart your device.
you might have to unselect remote factory reset to clear data in Google play services. After clear data the go back in select it again, reboot you should be good to go.

Every time it unlinked for me I just installed an App from the Play Store on my Nexus 5, and it would link again and I could install remotely through the Desktop website.
Hmmm I wish that were the case. I just installed an app yesterday after the remote link didn't work and I have tried again since. I've also removed my google account and added it back. Looks like a factory reset is in my future. Some things I've done that may have affected it:
Restore apps (not system) from titanium backup
Installed Xposed
Use of OpenVPN

Titanium Backup and Xposed should not affect it. OpenVPN, I'm not sure about, but I HIGHLY doubt it would be the cause. Try removing your Google account from Settings and setting it up again.

Titanium Backup WILL affect it - when you first loaded it on it would have asked you if you wanted to restore the device ID.
Open Titanium, press menu, chose the Manage Android ID, and restore your original ID. Then hit Market Update Helper, that will rebuild the market links.
Edit: Actually, maybe you don't want to restore - where did the original backup come from? Was it a Nexus 5? Maybe you already did restore the original, and it was from a different device??

Yeah I moved non system apps from a CM10 GS3. I thought about the Android ID as well. I generated a new one yesterday just to see if it fixed my problem. No luck. I am going to factory reset tonight. I'll post the results soon after I get everything up and running and confirm. Thanks for the suggestions.

Try re-building the market links through Tibu first.. might work?
Factory reset worked. I wish I knew what happened. I did a combination restore of my apps via the nexus 5 toolkit and titanium backup. The toolkit didn't get them all. I have not tried Xposed again. I may wait a bit and see if that was the cause.

Highly doubt Xposed would cause since I've been using it for a long time. As previously said, it was probably Titanium Backup messing with your ID.
Well, it's mainly the restore part that's not working.
I went from OmniRom to Sultanmod 5.1.1 no problems; all my apps and the homescreen layout auto restored. I went from Sultanmod 5.1.1 to Sultanmod 6.0.1 (full wipe, clean flash and open gapps 6.0 stock) and I cannot get the autorestore to start. I turn the phone on, choose the language, put in my google account and then nothing. It doesn't ask if I want to restore apps or anything.
I tried removing and readding my google account, reflashing again and reflashing with the super version of Open Gapps but it says system partition not enough memory. Anything I can try before I spend the next hour or two setting my phone up back to the way it was?

You should probably start by using the Advanced Features of open gapps, put CMSetupWizard in your gapps-config.txt (plus any other apps you want to remove) and do a clean flash and profit. It's been mentioned most likely in the Sultan thread so search there next time. At the restore part it'll show your apps just click next every time and when it offers the skip option, press it and profit

The Sultan thread was naturally the first place I looked and searched but the only results that came up were talking about titanium backup, which doesn't do homepage layout.
I didn't know there was advanced features for open gapps. Don't understand why removing CMSetupWizard would help but I'll give it a shot. Thanks
worked a treat. Phone is back to the way it was before minus some bloat from gapps that I didn't want. Thanks a lot!
