The USB connection should work out of the box on most OSes.

All works for me.
I know, old thread, but maybe somebody else encounters my problem.
I could not install Samsung USB drivers (to access phone with ODIN). It was recognized by Windows8 as MSM7x27 device, but still it would not take the drivers (as described here, especially for Win8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555 ). I managed to install the drivers using Win7 compatibility mode.
This is just to share knowledge.

A friend of mine just bought this phone and could not get the phone to display the contents of his microSD card on his WinXP computer thru USB. And because his handset came without installation discs and I didn't want to install bloated Samsung Kies I tried to find the drivers on this "Fit" sub-forum. Strange as it seems I couldn't find a single thread that could locate me to only Samsung's USB drivers.
I tried to install USB drivers for my Galaxy S and they worked like a charm (no reboot needed)!
In this thread are the newest Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile Phones (x86 & x64).
If you can't download from mediafire, you can try the megaupload mirror.
And these are the drivers I used and they worked like a charm on a WinXP (x86) machine.
I hope I helped!
Hey, sorry for the trouble, but can you post a link for a x32 version for win xp, please??
Hi!
WinXP x32?
There are only x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) PC architectures. You probably meant WinXP 32-bit, which is x86.
If I'm wrong use the latest USB drivers because there are both included (you can't go wrong with that).
And I forgot to mention that in the last megaupload link are the old USB drivers (in case the newest don't work). These old ones were tested by me and they worked flawlessly on a WinXP x86 machine.
Sorry for late reply.

Oops my bad, was ignorant about that...
Thank you!!!
Just installed Windows 8 CP, and I can't get ADB up and running to download the drivers, so my question is: Is there any drivers for Windows 8 which not requires me to use the SDK?
Try the same drivers you used on windows 7.

But I can't use the SDK, so I can't download those drivers.
If you can use a computer that has windows 7 on it, download drivers to it using sdk and find the folder that has the google drivers. Copy it to a disk and when it asks for the drivers on Windows 8, install the copied disk and you should be able to use the same drivers that way.
Download pdanet. Should have all the drivers you need.

Lge cosmo driver installation
First of all: Lg cosmo drivers have to be installed in order to be able:
- to root the ICS roms
- to push recovery to the phone with wkpark and Dexter's solution .
For windows xp the best way to install these drivers is to download and install the "lg pc suite IV" software. This will install the bluetooth drivers too.
For windows 7 32 or 64 bit nothing to do normally since the win 7 will automatically install these drivers, however in case any problem lg pc suite is an option here too. *
I thought this will help people strugling with these since using the omap drivers as discribed in several forum topics did not work for me at all.
If something doesn't go well it is a false idea that you need to try another computer. Just install the proper drivers and everything will work.
I hope this helps someone

I would like to say that I am not a developer or anything. I am having problems using adb commands on my computer (windows 8). It is a problem with drivers and such that the computer doesn't recognize the phone when in recovery. The same setup works on my windows vista desktop. I know many people have problems with drivers working on windows 8 and i was just wondering what version of windows is the easiest to work with?
