Maverick was designed as replacement for dedicated GPS navigators like Garmin or Magellan. It shows online and offline maps from various sources, including Bing, OSM, Ordnance Survey..., you can also specify any other map server. Recent version added support for SQLite atlases from Mobile Atlas Creator.

Button in the bottom left corner will switch to one of three screens: track recording with timer, compass and trip computer. You can swipe between these screens with your finger.
Tracks can be recorded in background and stored on SD card as GPX files, which can be shared via email or DropBox.
Trip computer shows lot of information, including location, pitch, sunrise/sunset, track distance and average speed, barometric altitude (on supported devices) and more.
You can mark any location on the map or share it along with address and map image. Waypoints are stored in KML file and can be viewed with Google Earth.
Maverick can find places around you current or future location, fetching data from Foursquare (comments and photos) and Wikipedia.

How to use offline maps
Download maps using Mobile Atlas Creator. Select RMaps SQLite atlas format for Maverick 2.1 and later.
Copy database file to /maverick/maps folder or copy folder with map tiles to /maverick/tiles folder.
Note: Maverick will also permanently store parts of the online map you've already browsed.
How to use external SD card
Go to /sdcard/maverick folder
Create folder redirect
Create empty folder with same name as second SD card, i.e.
sdcard/maverick/redirect/sd to keep data in /sdcard/sd/maverick
sdcard/maverick/redirect/sdcard2 to keep data in /sdcard2/maverick

It may be possible, but it's not a trivial task.
You can download maps using Mobile Atlas Creator (Select RMaps SQLite atlas format).

Routes in Maverick?
Does Maverick show routes in a map?
Can I load routes (i.e. in GPX-format from gpsies.com) and show them in the map? If so, one or multiple routes?
Thanks!

I am looking for software+maps (preferably UK OS maps) for cross-country walking. Viewranger would be ideal if it worked on WM. I see memory-map and ozi-explorer have been mentioned here. Any preferences or other recommendations?
My recommendation would be for Memory Map. I've tried it in the past, and was very impressed, and know keen walkers who rely on it. I liked being able to plan a route and 'preview' it, print maps and then program the GPS (I was using an external GPS with a different PDA then).
I don't know OziExplorer, but it looks as if it does similar things. There's an interesting comparison of the two if you do a search - basically it finds that Ozi has the better desktop version, but Memory Map is the better Pocket PC version.
Hope this helps.
I use Quo from Mapyx
I originally tried Memory Map & Anquet, these being the main rivals to each other. I found that the Anquet WM program has issues, so from the start that ruled them out, Memory Map was good, but the cost for the maps was a lot more than Quo, with Quo you can buy single map 'tiles' which I found suited my needs vs cost better.
When using the using the maps I found MM was complicated by having a massively complicated (IMO) licensing system, only thing that was a plus for MM was the WM program was smoother than Quo, in that Quo refreshes the map each time after you move it manually (fine when tracking via GPS), while MM is a live map (think the way Opera goes blocky when you move around a page and has to update.)
Thanks for the feedback both of you. For cheapness, I have installed Quo and bought the minimum number of map tiles. However, although they are loaded seamlessly on the PC, it seems that they have to be manually switched on the mobile. Also, I don't see how to directly copy the original map tiles from PC to mobile. Smaller versions seem to be created when 'export' is selected. I have contacted their support.
I use Ozi Explorer CE with topo map my country, long time (since 2006 on Mio701, now HTC Topaz) and for me is best, because OziExplorerCE have many, many navigation options. Map your country (UK) can found (googled) on the net... But spend your time i found what interest you:
GB Topo 1:50 000 calibrated and prepared for direct using in Ozi Explorer (Your signature say you have capacity memory card):

I agree that it isn't the clearest concept the way they get you to transfer the maps to the mobile. The way I work is to treat the map(s) of the country as a master map (I've got both 25k & 50k maps) then create an 'Area' of the part of the country I want to send to my mobile, in which res I want or both (25k & 50k).
For example I went to the Peak District earlier this year, so brought 25k & 50k maps of the area (25k for where I know I would go, with the 50k for the general location) then I marked out an 'Area', this 'Area' excluded some places that the maps I had brought covered, but that I knew I would not be visiting so reducing the file size of the maps to be transfered.
I actually find this way makes a lot of sense as you don't have to worry about transferring brought tiles, but can just transfer the area you need, even if that area crosses two brought tiles.
The only other thing, is when you've got two types of map (25k & 50k) they both need to be transfered individually, and then on the mobile loaded individually, also unlike the desktop application the mobile app won't zoom through the different maps, you need to load up either the 25k OR the 50k.
Overall I am still very happy with it, I think some of the issues with the mobile app are down to having to cater for the limited power of some mobile devices.
I'm happy to give any help I can.

I'd like to introduce my new app, My Home Page. My Home Page is a unique app and the first of its kind. It allows you to create a custom home page for your mobile browser using your favorite links. The home page you create is then stored on your SD card for quick access so each time you open your browser, the web sites you visit on the regular basis are just one click away. This means no more fumbling through a ton of bookmarks to open your favorite web site. There are a few types of styles and themes from which to choose and more are being worked on every day. The best part is that absolutely zero programming or design knowledge is required. If you can create a bookmark then you can create a custom home page. It’s literally that simple.
App Web Site: http://www.aaandroid.com/index.php/myhomepage/
Developer Contact: contact [at] aaandroid.com
Price: Free/$1 (initial release price, normally $1.99)
Free Version: Beta 1.0.3
Pro Version: 1.0
The free version is ad supported. The pro version will remove ads and add a couple of themes. As My Home Page is developed further, more extra features will be added to the pro version.

So, this basicly generates a html file that sorts and displays what you specify in the app?
I used to make homepages like this myself using html on the computer and storing it on SD card and making it the homepage manually, however I love this idea. An app that will just do it all from the phone just saves the coding/updating on computer AND transfering to the SD card. Pretty slick idea. Checking it out now.
Just nabbed Pro from the Market. I like how this looks. Also a Cachemate fan. Keep up the awesome work.
Error
I get an error when trying to set the home page......I setup a couple folders, added some links, then hit the 'Set Home Page' button, and click OK to confirm. It grants super user permissions, and then an error pops up:
Code:
An error has occurred: Can't create handler inside thread that has not called Looper.prepare(). Please report it to the developer.
Good work and great idea. I suggest to insert the possibile to import an external (from SD) file for import the bookmarks.
If I have right understand, in this moment is possibile to import only from the Android Browser, I would like to export and prepare file from the Mac.
Thank's.
Just an update that I got this to work if I turned off the option to use superuser.

I'm working on this error. If you can post a logcat to pastebin.com it would be a big help. The app is actually working. You will just have to set your home page using the manual method.
This is also why I released it as a beta

Thank you "jsomby" for supporting the project by having bought the App from the Market.
This is a pre-version, not quite final for the market. Currently there is no change at all between 0.6.9 beta and 0.7.0 alpha, it is an internal naming procedure.
Best regards

new OsmAnd Navigation, Plugin
Hope you find the new plugin useful.
Love the app. It does a much better job of showing map details when zoomed out than Navfree. The one issue I am having is it constantly says rerouting when I am driving straight down the current rout. Sometime every 30 seconds. Any way to fix this?
OsmAnd doesn't reads the German addresses format... Is there a workaround?

ASTRO File Manager with Clouds Pro v4.4.546 APK in bit.ly/18EsgNu
Metago | October 21, 2013 | Productivity | Android 2.2+ | 7.61 MB
ASTRO Cloud & File Manager has over 70 million downloads worldwide! Organize, view and retrieve all of your pictures, music, videos, documents or other files regardless of where they are located:
* Phone * Tablet * Clouds (Facebook, Dropbox, Google Drive, Box or SkyDrive) * PC, Mac, Linux (via built in networking)
Ever try to find a file but can’t remember where you put it? ASTRO has the most robust SEARCH technology in the mobile world, giving you the ability to do anything from broad searches across all locations mentioned above for types of content (pics, music, videos, etc.) to very specific searches based on file name, size, location, etc. And, with ASTRO’s unique “CLOUD HOPPING (TM)”, you can move files from one cloud to another in a single copy or move/paste – without having to download them first before sending to your destination cloud!
ASTRO now has support for Leef Bridge, a powerful, yet simple, innovative USB flash drive that allows users to easily transfer files to other devices (Android phones, tablets, Macs and PCs) without the need for cables, cloud services, Wi-Fi or any type of data connection. Leef Bridge features a micro USB connector and full-size USB connector that access the same memory so users can share content, photos, videos, music and documents to and from any compatible device.
What are some of the benefits to ASTRO’s new Indexing functionality:
- After your first search, results are almost instantaneous across all indexed locations (mobile device, clouds, networked locations)
- If you are offline, you can still search for files that have been indexed.
- Eliminates redundant network calls in ASTRO, making some operations faster.
- Better file browsing experience in areas with spotty or slow network coverage.
How does ASTRO’s new Indexing functionality work?
- As you browse through directories on your device, clouds or networked locations, ASTRO begins indexing your files in the background in order to speed up future searches you perform.
- It will also build your index whenever you do a search. It will build the index for your internal and external sd cards very quickly (typically under 15-20 seconds). Clouds or networked locations will take longer and also depends on the number of files in those locations.
- You can also choose to proactively index any of your other locations like clouds (Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive) and networked locations by doing a search on those locations or by going to Settings, Search index and click Rebuild index. Keep in mind if you choose to index a 500GB server you have at home, it may take a while. icon smile ASTRO File Manager with Clouds Pro v4.4.546
- You can go to Settings, Set Default Search Locations to set your default locations.
- You can go to Settings, Search index and clear your index at any time as well.
- SWIPE SCREEN RIGHT to get to Clouds, Network Locations or Saved Searches fast
- SWIPE SCREEN LEFT to get to Tools (App Backup, Task Killer, SD Card Usage), Settings and Help
It gives you the ability to stop processes that burn battery life (Task Killer) and backup your apps (App Backup) in case you lose or change phones.
Features include: file management, content management, multi-cloud, cloud content management with Facebook, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box and SkyDrive, android file browser, file and/or app backup, image and text viewers, networking, Bluetooth, SFTP, Zip, downloader, thumbnails, search files, application manager, task manager, attachments…
What’s New
4.4-543 – fixed several small bugs on several different platforms
4.4-541
- Improved memory usage
- Improved Skydrive support
