Hi all,
I have a UK Xoom, converted to a GED running the current ICS build which is rooted....
I use Total Commander as my File Manager but am unable to write files to the SD Card with it.
I have used TC to mount the SD Card as Read/Write, but it is unable to copy files to the SD Card.
I am assuming the Read/Write mount worked fine as if I use another program, such as FileManagerHD, if I mount the SD Card as Read Only, then this program cannot write to SD either....
I downloaded a couple of other File Managers from the marker. ES File Explorer was able to write to the SD Card but Ghost Commander could not.
Do any other TC users have the same issue and if not, are you using a Custom ROM ?
Cheers,

hi ppl
i have the GT 2 7 16gb with the STOCK ROMS ICS 4.0.4 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838072 )
but i have a sd card with 8gb.
when i put the sd card in my tab it detects the card, but I can not access the files
i use the es file explorer...
is there any problem with the tab?
Rom?
SD Card?
i dont understand whats up :S
thanks for the help...
The sdcard is located at /extSdCard if you're browsing through files. If it isn't being shown, it is possible that it needs to be formatted, in which case, you would have to do it in a phone, or on a computer with an adapter. Do you know what format the microSD card was using for the filesystem?
im using the card on my htc hero, with ext4 with 900mb space to apps
but i want use that card in the tab...
maybe if format 'll be work...
ahh,,,and the card is 8gb class 4
sorry my bad english
with the apk File Expert it works...
now i have access to my files...
thought could have access with the es file explorer...
thanks for the help :highfive:
ES File explorer works too!
you have to set sdcard path to: /mnt/extSdCard
Hi
I am an xperia miro user(ICS). I updated framewire recenty to 5.8 and rooted my device. Now i am having issues with my external sd card. Es file explorer although it had been granted SU permissions isnt able to create a folder ( operation failed) or transfer any file from sd card to External Sd card. Tried another app called "Rootbrowser" with which i was able to create new folder in external sd card, but still cant write to the External sd card. I have already tried formating my External sd and also changing permissions which i saw on one of the forums here.
Nothing is working for me
I have tons of space left in my External sd card and i cant use it :crying:
Kindly help and solve this issue
Is anyone else having problems getting full R/W access to ext SD cards? Tried freeing up some space and I'm unable to delete anything on my SD card? And without root I am unable to try the kk sd fix?

Click to collapse
You should follow the guide it shows . select the root directory of the external sd.first time i pasted something to external sd with es xplorer it showed me the guide to take permission
I pressed the dots and selected show external sd and then selected the root directory of external sd.after that i could paste successfully
I'm having problems deleting files from my ext SD card, I cannot delete anything thing that is on the SD card.
Edit, just tried what you said with es explore and it worked, looks like I can't use dual file manager with this update
even if you Downdrade to 5.0.1 like i did you will face the same Problem , to fix this you have to give every app want access external SD root access and the problem that you Can not do that for apps that don't ask for root like torrents apps
So I've been pretty happy with my Shield K1 but I finally bought an SD card and I'm having some trouble. I originally used the SD card as "portable storage" but it was a bit limited since I was unable to copy apps to the Micro SD. I reformatted it as internal and it's been great... except that I can't use any file managers. Cabinet tells me it needs root access in order to access the files on the SD card, and Solid Explorer keeps asking me for permission even though I granted it Storage permission.
Are there any file managers that can be used to manipulate files on the Micro SD card when it is adopted as internal storage?
Hi guys I recently bought shield k1
It was recently upgraded to Marshmallow
Here's my query
If I were to choose my 128gb sd card as adoptable storage
When I plug my tab to my PC
Shouldn't it display 128+16gb ,instead its showing only 16gb
Is it a format issue or is it how it is in android M
If i were to go with portable storage ,my apps are unable to write anything on the SD card ,even file managers are unable to move files from internal to SD card
All I want is to move files from internal card to SD card ,I hate the stock explore option,do you know any apps that can do this
Sorry if this was already asked
I think the problem is the file system format. If you've formated the SD card with the Android's format like the internal storage the PC won't be able to read it.
Grand file managers, ES explorer and Total Commander.
