How to Edit the HOST file to immune ad??
To edit hosts you have to be rooted. If you are rooted just get adfree from the market. It already blocks most ads and will update your hosts file automatically.

Hello guys
I really like this rom but there is one thing that takes the piss, i normally use adblock app from market so i can block and later on revert so i can use apps like TV Shows stream, Animewatch and stuff that need advertisements to work. I'd like to know the IP wolf used to revert his adblocking.
Thanks in advance
P.S: I didn't know where to place this so i went for the ''Apps'' section.
Isn't there a RESTORE on the app itself?

ad block is directly at hosts file
location /system/etc/hosts
if you want to remove ad block temporarily just create a backup copy of hosts and write a new hosts file with just one line
127.0.0.1 localhost
that will remove native adblocking....
now if you want to use any ad blocking software you can also use that.
Thank you, Sir
Looks like it's the app that is malfunctioning.
edit the host files at /system/etc/hosts using root explorer.

Hi,
I want add some sites on my hosts file. It seems generated by Adaway and there is this message :
Please do not modify it directly, it will be overwritten when AdAway is applied again.
How can I add some sites and avoid the overwritting by adway ?
Thanks
Add them in AdAway.
Hi everybody.
I flashed Android 6.0 to my Nexus5 and rooted it with NRT.
Sadly i can't copy a new hosts file to /system/etc because there is to less space.
df shows in fact just 4k of free space.
Any suggestions?
Can I set a symlink for hosts to the /data-partition for example?
A good hosts file should not exceed 3Mb. Can't you free up space by moving some of your system apps to the data partition?
You can uninstall some of the system apps you never use. Removing Keep, Drive, and Android Pay did the trick for me. After rebooting it freed up about 28MB.
Thanks for the advice guys.
Got some error while trying to deinstall system apps.
So i want to create a hosts symlink to /data-partition. For simplicity i let AdAway generate the symlink.
Works flawless!
I'm a little stumped. I have adaway installed. It has no issue applying the changes to the hosts file. Then I go into Adaway preferences, turn off "Check for updates on start of adaway." I use root explorer to then edit the file and add my own entries like: 127.0.0.1 reddit.com. The file saves, but I can access any website for any of the entries I have put in the hosts file. Not really sure how to troubleshoot this. I have restarted the phone, I have wiped all data from chrome. Tried it again, and it still allows me to access sites I have entered into the hosts file. Any help would be appreciated.
