Hi all,
Please recommend me some nice ROM on the following parameters:
1. Must have Features:
- Stable : Should be very stable, no freezing, no crashes and no major bugs/flows etc.
- Should be fast, responsive and smooth (without overclocking).
- Good Battery Life
- Security: Secure against hackers/viruses /Trojans etc (It should atleast bulletproof if not bomb proof). Hey I am not demanding military level
- Good signal reception for making voice calls and using data over 2G/EDGE/3G network. My country has GSM Band frequency 900/1800/2100. (I would not mind to flash individual modem for that if anybody recommends).
- Good GPS performance.
- No ATT bloatware, FB etc.
2. Some add on features:
- Customization: It would be good if the ROM has some nice customization features as comparison to stock version.
- Good Developer support for issues/updates etc.
3. I dont mind if following features/issues are unsolved in rom
- HDMI out feature
- Bluetooth headset feature (Would be good if Bluetooth file transfer can work).
- 4G network
- Wifi tethering
- Theming/animations etc.
I have tried to narrow down following ROMs:
1. R3VELATION (UCLB3 based)
2. ZEUS (UCKL2 based)
3. Vagabond ROM (UCLB3 based)
4. Any other ROM if some one wants to recommend …….
Thanks for visiting

ZEUS here since it dropped in the dev section.
And the only reason VAgabond HDMI works it b/c it has the stock kernel.
Most of the Infuse native roms based off of leaks are pretty damn stable if you ask me. (that includes the new Revelation Rom)
Vagabond
All the ROM's are good ROM's. I have tried them all and had no problems. I happen to like the base color scheme of Vagabond and the fact that the dev has taken out the most bloatware - including the Tethering Manager- which can be important at times. Currently running Vagabond and seem to get the best battery life out of it - probably because of less bloatware,
All the new Rom are completely debloaded bro

I think i need to install these 3 ROMs one by one for some days to test on my parameters at Point No.1 to finally settle for one.

I was skeptical when I moved from Infused to Zeus... and it was worth the try... am still on Zeus... beta version
By the way, mine's underclocked to 800, and still have no lag.
I am using Infused 2.2.3 and am loving it. My first ROM. Anyone else using this one?
Zeus is great!
I'm currently on R3velation but with ICS Revamped theme added, aosp lockscreen added, and entropy DD kernal. I guess I would say use anything by Dman & the collective....
Zeus is the most stable right now. And im sure R3v will have most sod's and such worked out soon.
ive tried all three
I have used all three roms and my personal preference is R3velations. its very new and the fasted i have ever used my phone moves right through pages. i had zeus before this and its very solid also and has a ton of addons which make it nice for personalization. they both are similar and very different in their own ways. i love both of em. the infused if you need hdmi, i didnt like and hdmi dont matter too much to me. ill give it up for the tweaks. all these roms are very easy to flash and easy to set up. just like the guys always say make sure u follow directions....
ran MIUI for the longest time.. loved the customization.. but was buggy at times and never knew what the next update would bring or lose..
ran Infused for a while.. it was pretty good
then I switched to Zeus... awesome ROM... very smooth and stable.. and the themes were really nice!
now I am running R3velation. I personally love dark themes. It is super smooth! The OTA app is pretty awesome.. makes downloading and changing themes and icons super easy. The animations are amazing!!!!
I am sticking with R3velation!!!

Infused 2.2.3 was the first Rom that I flashed. It was good. Never had any issues with it. Then, after reading the posts on XDA and over at androidcentral, decided to Flash Zeus (v5). Love it. Can do so much more than with Infused, and the support is fantastic. Considering R3velation, but am very happy with Zeus for the time being.
try the roms and gives them half week to settle...
you mention 3 roms, I dont think that one is better than another, it is what our "need" want to satisfied...
devs here are so pro, so dont worry....
its like giving you the choose between ferrari or lamborgini... theyr all good
All three of those roms you mentioned are great roms. Can't go wrong with any of them. I'd also like to throw cm7 on that list since you said HDMI out and Bluetooth audio isn't important. However, it does have tons of customizations.

Hi all,
Is there any feature available in any ROM/Kernel/Mod by which i can bypass need of pressing power button or vol up down button to bring screen on. (without using Tap-Tap App of market as it keep sensor on and eats battery).
When screen lights go off i just wana press anywhere on screen to bring it back.
I will pay 10$ for that.
Thanks

IF you think about how the application has to function, what you are asking is not plausible.
The phone is never allow to sleep in order to detect the touch.
Accidental touch will also turn on the display.
Your battery wont last any more than 6-8 hours if you're lucky.

I'm coming from LG Revolution land and my girlfriend has the MT. She wants her phone to be like mine and be able to tether, get rid of the dumb VM boot animation (and the power off animation if possible), and have a different theme more like mine which is kindof like GB but at the same time completely different. Any help would be awesome.
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me.

I've tried them all except for punk and its come down to bouncing back and forth between cm7 and miui. why would you settle for froyo when gingerbread is so stable now? For a minute miui was the best but now that the beta cm7 are fully functional and butter smooth I am finding myself less inclined to flash and that is amazing! Ruined my Samsung captivate while I was still learning, be very careful going back to froyo roms from gingerbread on that one. Darkys killed it! My Triumph however seems unbrickable and is overclocked and stable. The stock rom was a joke and I got rid of that clumsy bastard the third day. Thanx to all the devs for working hard and kikin ass!

In CM7 - You don't--at this time anyways--unless you don't mind certain things not working since the only kernel is old and outdated at this time or unless you build your own OC kernel for CM7.
There's a couple of OC kernels available for FROYO roms atm. Just check the Dev section.

CM7 or MIUI are good ROMs, now they have worked out most of the bugs for this phone besides HDMI and something with camera mirror.
I switched over from the Optimus V and I have a gtablet, im really pleased by CM7 on this phone. I haven't had any problems at all, and the battery life with the last two releases on CM7 is great.
I will try the MIUI ROM as well though, I just chose CM7 because I have had prior experience with it.
I've never had any problems with my phone on the stock-ish ROM, but then again even on my desktop Skype appears to be mirrored (although the other side is okay)... from what I've heard, this is the way desktop Skype works.

I believe the HDMI and Mirroring problem are the custom ROM bugs, but I didn't stay on stock ROM longer then one day to find out how it was.
I am used to rooting and custom ROM's now, for me it's interesting to try different things out customizing my phone.
Edit: sorry for the confusion if I implied that HDMI and Mirroring on the camera are stock ROM bugs.
I'm refusing to switch to the Gingerbread Cyanogen mod simply because it doesn't have hdmi output. Even though I can't use the HDMI output anyway. There's probably a pill to alleviate that.

I'm refusing until you can use wifi with bluetooth, and the niggling audio bugs I keep reading about go away.
I hear that the gingerbread development is winding down now, so we may just be stuck with current cm7 and miui for a while...without fixes.
If I could just figure out what is killing battery so much faster than my optimus V, I'd be happy....

And youre opionion on best apps to install once freed up? Glad to meet everyone here and thanks for all the reading I have done over last 3 days, it saved me and my phone LOL.

Cool can you tell us why what you think the advanages are?
I'm running Infused v2.2.3, it's a great rom that gives good battery life. Unforunately, the developer has stopped work on it (he's supposed to be coming back once AT&T GB releases). But it's a solid rom.
CM7 or Darky. Darky is likely the best i9000/Captivate/Vibrant ROM, if you really want an Infuse based ROM, the only one I've used is Infused and it's pretty good.
AT&T's lastest leak: KK2 with Entropy's kernel for root.
I've removed most of the bloatware and did my own theme with pieces from this theme and that theme.
I get 14-18 hours on a charge. WiFi, Bluetooth & Data all work and are fast.
Only problem is video being broke.
I'm enjoying the Infused 2.2.3 also. Very stable, and greta battery life.
MIUI is awesome some bugs semi broken bluetooth havent tried the darky or some of the other newer roms tried dlev was alright infused was ok. Would wait for ICS before flashing something new.
Miui is my favorite. Works better than anything I've tried.

I've tried a lot of the roms out right now, I kept going back to Infused from gtg465x because of it's stability (I like to know for sure that I'm getting my calls and messages) but currently I'm very pleased with the mosaic ROM. It's really a great balance of stability and style, with just enough customizable options to make it feel unique. Also my wife has an infuse and she is a big fan of the Doctorz ROM (they just released version 9 that apparently fixed some of the glitches that v8 had) but I am steadily turning her into a regular flasher...of roms. lol. Anyway shealso tried the black one and it was very flashy but had lots of Italian glitches, currently she's tuning the GingerReal2 and she loves it.
Bottom line is...a matter of preference. I like stability with a dash of flashy, some people prefer flashy and don't care if some stuff doesn't work...others don't care if there phone is as boring as a rotary from the 80's as long as they can count on it working properly.
Hope this helps and have fun flashing!

VictoryRom v1.7 working best for me. No issues of any kind. KK2 does NOT have broken video like previously mentioned. My videos and youtube work great. I flashed it over a fresh install of gtg's unbrick.
i am also trying to find the best rom, but they all seem to have small problems that aren't necessarily dealbreakers, but slightly annoying to deal with every single day. I have been running cm7 for a while, and it's awesome, but I want my bluetooth audio back. i might be wrong on this one, but I think all the captivate/i9000 ports are going to have that "first call" bug. I was looking through all the leaks, and they seem to have widespread weirdness, which is what i would expect from a leak. I guess what I'm looking for is the latest version of android I can get without these bugs. should i go back to stock?
infused 2.2.3 with E's daily driver.
A lot of roms are not based on the infuse, those will break your bluetooth; thats a deal breaker for me. I would like to try some of the others and I have heard some really great things about them, but need the bluetooth for my car.

Which Rom is a personal preferance.
I currently run F1 Innovation, Fast, Stable and smooth. Not sure about tethering.

Still i haven't installed it but I read that CyanogenMod 7 works flawlessly on the Infuse. I read you can use it to connect usb devices to your phone so i guess it can do pretty anything, tethering included.
The only thing that seems to work crappy is audio through bluetooth but i bet it's not a big problem : bluetooth is one of the most stupid and unsecure tecnologies ever invented.
You will find on this forum tons of informations about roms...just read it!
I have a preference for Infuse based ROM on my infuse.

Don't install a Samsung based rom, which is everything but CM7 or MIUI. Both CM7 and MIUI are AOSP based. MIUI is too much like iOS for my liking. I have been running CM7 on my infuse since I got it, and before that on my inspire, and before that on my captivate. CM7 is the only way to go.
For what it's worth, I'm running CM7, the newest nightly on 1/19. Very stable (some apps I had while running stock Froyo or Infused 2.2.3? would force close alot, not on CM7, but it's a very selective few apps I use for work), very smooth, very fast, overclockable to at least 1.4 gHz for most people. Some people do 1.6 gHz but it's not stable for my phone. You can undervolt it by some amounts for that extra battery savings, and it's constantly having features added to it, like T9 dialing that I discovered was included (much MUCH love for this small thing).
For all the added features, I regularly go through my phone and make sure I don't have apps that do things that are now part of the phone, so I keep the app list short and sweet. Having redundant features means that 2 things are trying to do the same thing, and I'd rather punch out my battery more and more without giving up some conveniences I had Dialer One on my phone, and it's not that great looking, but I had it just for the T9 dialing. Once I saw that CM7 had a T9 dialing feature, I uninstalled Dialer One. The music app, while not as heavy on the eye candy, made me get rid of Doubletwist and Airsync. Airsync never really worked great, for me at least.
CM7 doesn't have fully working bluetooth on the Infuse, some people have trouble with auto brightness (my personal preference is that I'd rather use the status bar slider to adjust brightness), and HDMI out doesn't work. It also has some extra niceties, such as theming, a DSP Manager app (that controls audio levels and equalizers), and is pretty much always being updated.
The drop down bar can be customized almost entirely, and because bluetooth doesn't work, not that I want it, I got rid of that icon. I replaced it with a screen timeout toggle. It has many more options than that.
One thing, and I don't think this is CM7 exclusive, is that sometimes my text messages won't send. I'm using GOSMS as my messaging app until the stock messaging app starts sending ALL of my texts. MMS relies on a data connection so I tend to pull the drop down and enable that when I want to send a picture or download one. Once it starts working the same way, I'm uninstalling GOSMS because it tends to be heavy and sometimes lags up noticeably.
I don't use bluetooth, and I don't think I've ever opened that HDMI dongle packaging, much less tried to use it. While it would be nice if they functioned, I get from day to day without even thinking about those. Your mileage may vary.
I'll throw my support behind CM7. I briefly tried ZEUS, but switched back after a couple days.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
The only way to get a rom that has everything working like it should is to flash an infused based rom ...NOT an aosp rom..... cm7 is good if you don't need Bluetooth....as cm7 and miui use a different bt stack then Samsung ...so in my opinion that issue wont be fixed....and they have been known to have data issues....flash ANY of the infuse based Rome if you want complete functionality....period

Like others say if you need BT audio or HDMI stick with Samsung roms. I could care less about both, i have been bouncing back and forth between CM7 and MIUI for months now whenever there is a noteworthy update. Both are very quick and clean in my opinion and you can't go wrong with either one. I have tried most Samsung roms available but they are always short lived on my device...they always feel as if lacking something. Props to the devs for making them available though!!!

Definately Zeus for now. It's snappy, everything works and theres even a few themes as well as an ICS launcher. All the AT&T bloat has been removed. I used to prefer stock, but Zeus made me convert. It's just more responsive than any other rom for the Infuse.
It's all a matter of personal preference. I've run about 12-15 different ROMs on my Infuse so far. I keep coming back to Sensation 1.1. I really like being able to edit my status bar.
I didn't care for the camera in CM7, but it is a very nice running ROM. Only thing I miss is not having an extended power menu.
Just play with a bunch of them until you find one you like.

I was wondering what was a better ROM to use for the Infuse, ZEUS by dman, or the CM7 port?
I was using CM7 and tried Zeus 3, but ended up switching back. I didn't like it. When I saw the 5 version posted, I decided to give Zeus another try. Other than a brief GB stock try, I haven't strayed from what Dman has wrought with Zeus 5.2.

I CAN FROM BIONIX TO ZEUS AND it's awsome, no freeze like bionix when you unlock the screen, altough when you get a call, it tends to not responsive on the first swipe, the second try will do it. i think it's lag
i just hope it uses less memory, it's about 200~250 when you start up the phone, so far so good
speaker on both roms sucks. i drive all day and i need speaker to be really loud, both are not load enough for me. anyone have any apps or hacks that turn your speaker up?
try the zeus 5.2 it's awsome
i flashed it over bionix without going stock.

Volume+ in the market works well for me on phone and tablet.
ZEUS is the only way to go, IMO.
I tried Zeus briefly, and if I had spent the time to fix the wifi I can see why so many people like it, but I love the look of CM7, and for my use it's been great, so I went back. If you want a stock rom, would vote Zeus, (might eventually go back to Zeus if bluetooth never gets sorted out on CM7) but CM7 is a solid port, looks good and flashes easy.
Wifi ain't broke bruh... never was, never has been... only thing doesn't work is HDMI.... period...
ZEUS decimates all!

On my flash, it had issues, and from what I found on the 4000 page Zeus thread, there had been others having the same issue. I gave up trying to find the mentioned fix, sure it was there, just couldn't find it. I had flashed the ICS theme and hadn't liked the changes so I went back to CM7.
Next time I try Zeus, I'll go back to stock first as recommended on your install instructions, I'm sure I'll have better luck. Currently I'm waiting to see if the new old stock Gingerbread pushes Zeus to 5.3
rom review by a newbie user
I try this roms and Im more focused on battery juice and customability options...
Im heavy user not in things like widgets or music or videos, but I do make many calls, use mail and chat by whatsapp.
so I tell you my best (and tried) roms
caty 3.0 the fast in everything (reboot, display etc), perfect battery for smartphone, i have to use it with uckk4 b/c with newers modems no good work for my slow data.
zeus: its almost like caty for me, totally recomend specially for themes.
darkyrom, cool rom, love the touchwiz! customable, has the darky ota, an app that you can use to change thing, its like rom manager but with many options for download.
sauron rom, my current rom, i like it because of the fully customable options in power menu, settings, it is fast like darky, almost the same but with more customable options.
CM7, stable, nice boot animation, have the plus of everything the cyanogen team has to offer in a simple gingerbread launcher.
miui, I like touchwiz! I like it, the music, and themes! its so different and beatifull, but the battery issue its something important to me, the rom its not bad, remember that battery issues exist in all smartphones, but if you are not a heavy user, go for it!
I hope it helps you.
Remember that this review its just a guide, you have to try it by your own and see what it fits, you have to explore the personalizations options.

When you downloaded the darky rom? Did you have version 10.4 and in which case would you upload? I only have version 10.3 didn't realize that there was an update so I never downloaded it. A couple of different users were asking for it, so I looked and realized I didn't have the latest.
Also, because this is a port, the darky ota app does not work with this phone, and I'm PRETTY sure that it's not included... wouldn't work if it was. There's no hellraiser on the go.. lol.
If you look in the last couple pages of boost's MIUI thread, as of 2-15-12 anyway.. then you will see some tips to improve the battery life of MIUI. That should help you..
Before you make your rom final...I myself flashed damm near all the ROMs...gave the wife a headache... lol...
But figured I can honestly say I tried them....my final after many flashes...and lots of the wife rolling her eyes....lol
NUMAS X v1.1 Black & Chrome'd out!
Change your launcher to zeam - its minimal and uses negligible memory and cpu.
what memory is left when you first boot up on zeus ?im only getting 200 free memory

I downloaded darky 10.2 (newest) and I like the touchwiz and the stable no freeze... Yes, of course not all things in darky ota, it works the option of changing the lockscreen menu, boot animation. But I prefer download here from xda
Hi i was wondering what the most stable gingerbread rom is right now for the G2x? I was using eagleblood's ics rom but I want to be able to use camera, browser and internal storage for music (I dont have an external sd card right now). but yeah tahts my question. I heard the one from lg/tmobile isnt the best
Stock or custom? Cm7 I feel is the best, but some might disagree.

My wife has EaglesBlood GB on her phone, and she says it's really stable for her. On occasion, it freezes up on AC power, but other than that, it works really well.
And, like mt3g said, CM7 also works really well. Although others complain that it's buggy for them, but that's just the nature of these phones: what works for one phone, doesn't work well for another. Trial and error is your strange bedfellow.

i used stock but that seemed to drain my battery like no other, and sometimes apps froze. I would rather go custom if tehre is a good one

If you want something easy to customize, I recommend Hellfire Phoenix over EaglesBlood because its based on the newest CM7 source, which includes a lot of fixes and more tweaks.
Now if you want a stock look (along with that better stock battery life), I recommend Bionix Reloaded v1.4.1 because its heavily tweaked for better battery life, and gives you all the stock Tmo apps like Wifi Calling, DLNA Sharing, etc.
The kernel is important too, and I always used Faux's kernel without any problems. In fact, using Faux helped solve some, as people running other kernels weren't able to play games such as Draw Something.

I like CM7, but have been running Hell Fire Phoenix for a LONG time, and love it.
Specific reqs
My wife is a medical professional and is sometimes "on call". I bought our phones a year ago, and didn't switch from stock 2.2.2, because no ROM/kernel (if I'm using those terms correctly) seem to be able to fix the Black Screen Of Death. So now I wonder the same - which ROM and or kernel is the most stable? She loves the stock LG camera, doesn't use BT nor WiFi calling - she NEEDS STABILITY!!! I know I can search thru the dev forum, but there are many posts, some by zealots. I'm looking for opinions from people who have tried many. It could be that the new LG V21Y will be good for her....
She doesn't need to customize - she just wants a phone that is working every time she pulls it out of her purse.
I vote for LG's stock 2.3.4 with new baseband.
My wife has not rebooted her G2x since updating to the new V21y/2.3.4. It's been at least a month for her w/o ANY complaints. She used to ***** at least daily about needing to pull the battery or reboot. Call quality is much improved, but what really impresses me is the speed and accuracy of the GPS now (not sure how much that matters for your wife). Battery seems to be at least as good as when I run the latest CM Nightly with Morfic's Trinity ELP kernel underclocked.
I too keep a nandroid backup of the new stock rom on my G2x. I find it the most stable of anything I've tried. Recently I've been on Hellfire Phoenix w/ either Morfic's ELP or Faux's 50b6 kernel. I've also been through all the recent Cyanogenmod releases lately.
Benefits of the stock ROM...
-No black screens of death
-Great battery life
-Clear in-call sound
-Quick GPS locks
-Minimal force closes
Compared to CM-based ROM's I mostly miss the brightness controlled by sliding across the status bar, the status bar toggles, the CM themes, and the "render effect" that allows me to pick the hue of the screen. I like to run the red one (least bright) when I just can't stop using the phone at night.
I am beginning to play with the rooted 2.3.4 (Thanks kwes1020) in hopes of regaining some of that custom functionality that I miss from the CM-based builds...
Appreciative lurker, first time poster
This thread looks like the best one to get my questions answered. TIA.
Brand new G2X (got the $30 T-mobile Walmart plan), running 2.3.4 on the March 2012 BB, kernel 2.6.32.9 (if that matters)
Basically I'm looking for something stable, though I am interested in customization.
Features that are important to me:
Battery Life, speed, GPS, WiFi Calling, Bluetooth streaming (but dont care about Bluetooth calling), fast camera
Based on all my reading in these forums, I think I should be looking for a GingerBread ROM that allows some neat customization. CM7 7.2 Stable seems to be the most recommended right now. Is that right?
Also, though I have a couple years experience with Android, this will be the first time I root a phone and install a custom ROM. I was planning to use the video tutorials at theunlockr.com to start the process. Having watched all those, it looks like there are 3 steps:
1. Root: http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/03/how-to-root-the-t-mobile-g2x/
2. Flash Custom Recovery Image: http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/03/how-to-flash-a-custom-recovery-image-on-the-t-mobile-g2x/
3. Load Custom ROM: http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/03/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-t-mobile-g2x/
However, I saw in another thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1761772&page=2 ) that "There is no need to root your stock Rom if you are using NVFlash to flash CWM."
So, is this a newer method or the same thing that unlockr.com is instructing me to do?
I know that's alot, but thanks for any advice...

Well, I rooted my phone for the first time about 3 months ago and I used the unlockr method. As long as you follow step by step instructions everything should go smoothly, I screwed it up and had to reload stock rom, but that just made me understand the process better.
As for which ROM to get, I tried various ones Eaglesblood, Hellfire both ICS and GB and I found that the one I liked the best was Hellfire CM7.2 supertweaked. I couldn't do ICS because I actually want to watch videos on my phone and it was too laggy. However, Hellfire ran smoothly and the battery life is amazing compared to stock. I have had this phone on mostly standby for a whole day and it was still on 60% battery life. There are no problems with wifi and camera is good. I am not sure about bluetooth since i don't use it, but the news is that there will soon be fixes to any bluetooth issues.
An extra piece of advice, if you are going to root your phone and I recommend you get the Auto Memory Manager and FasterGPS app. The former is better than app killer, which are bad for your device and the second will immensely increase GPS lock on time.

Thanks for the quick response. So, did you do the 3 videos in that order? That is my plan. And I will look for the Hellfire ROM, thanks.
