[Q] How to transfer files between iOS tethered to Android? - General Questions and Answers

Android: rooted HTC Evo 4G
iOS: iPad 2 wifi only, non-jailbroken
Getting files on and off my iPad is a bit of a chore and usually a workaround since this isn't native on iOS.
When I'm in range of a wifi network I can use an app like Files Connect on the iPad and connect to it from a file manager like ES on android. Or even easier is a dropbox account or even email, where I have reliable bandwidth.
But when I'm not home I'm stuck to 3G on my phone and this makes it difficult to transfer large images or documents. Does anyone have a good workflow for this that doesn't require jailbreaking my iPad or requiring internet bandwidth?
Thanks!

Come on XDA geniuses, I know someone has to have a workaround!
When using the phone as a hotspot it no longer appears to have wifi connectivity to the devices using it as a hotspot, like the iPad. I tried disabling 3G data to see if it would fall back to the wifi but no luck.
Can I create a wifi hotspot AND be connected to that same wifi hotspot at the same time?

Would like to know that, too, tried to send some data to a friend of mine on her iPhone, but I couldn't... Thought Apple now allows BT-File-Transfer?

[APP][Q] Connecting two phones via wifi

Is it possible to connect two phones via WiFi? Does anyone have any idea on how make this happen that can point me in the right direction? I wanna work on this for my senior design project. I basically want to share the sdcard with another phone
Maybe having one phone as a hotspot, and the other connecting to it, or thru an already existent wireless network
Thanks
Anyone? ....
You can probably by creating one phone as access point and connecting the other through ad-hoc connection.
I never did, though had used this type of connectivity on PCs.

Probably you want to make something like that:
frostwire.com/android/
p2p client connects phones via WiFi and shares photo, music, video, documents
they have opened sources but not for Android version.
Sadly you'll need to hack android to allow ad hoc wifi. On another note, Bluetooth 3.0 is kind of what you are talking about but not like a NAS setup which you are wanting. BT 3.0 sets connects/handshakes two devices by bt then turns on wifi for faster speeds. The only devices that I know have BT 3.0 as of now are the Samsung Galaxy S's

Share internet connection with iPod Touch

Is there a way I can share my Android's phone internet connection with my iPod Touch either via Wifi or Bluetooth.
I don't see a setting in iOS to receive internet over Bluetooth anywhere, so I assume Wifi would be the way to go.
I can get Internet over Wifi on my Windows Mobile phone with WmWifi router, is there a way to do this on Android?
Android 2.2 has this build in, what device are you using?

If your device is rooted, you could easily just get a wireless tethering application from the market.
I have an HTC Magic and cannot root or upgrade because that would void my warranty
Wait, an HTC Magic that's STILL on warranty?
Joking aside, I've seen Bluetooth Tethering apps that don't need root.

I don't understand...you are basically using your Blackberry/laptop configuration to make a mobile hotspot, right? If the Xoom can access the wifi signal for one app it should be able to for any app. Maybe I'm missing something. Can you give more explanation?

I connected my blackberry bold which has 3g to my laptop which broadcasts the connection via wifi. The chrome browser and android market and other goodies apps connect but installed apps don't connect. Plus I recently bought a huawei e5 mobile 3g wireless router. I got my xoom connected to the network but right now only the browser goes online,. The other apps just do not. I don't know what other piece of detail I can give other than the fact that my Xoom wifi is not connecting to 3g networks broadcast via wifi. Any ideas?
This is really very strange... I switched my 3G-Xoom into flight mode and then activated WiFi (so it basically behaves like a WiFi-only Version) and connected it to my mobile (Samsung Galaxy S) and all apps are able to access the internet. Connecting ist to a UMTS-Router (Option GlobeSurf) also worked like a charm...
Did you try to connect your Xoom to a WiFi-Router at home (= Internet access via cable not UMTS)? Does this work or do you encounter the same probs?

[Q] Tether to PS3?

I've searched and seen a couple threads with similar issues and no answers.
I'm trying to connect my Nexus 4 on T-mobile to my PS3. This isn't really phone specific though, I've had the same issue on my last few phones.
Now it will connect to my tether just fine, and I can connect to Netflix and such, but it will not connect to the PSN. I have tried using Hotspot Shield VPN along with FoxFi, Wifi Tether-TrevE, built in tethering, and PdaNet. It works for a tiny bit when the month begins, but very shortly after, T-Mobile detects that it is tethering (no matter which method I use) and they send me a text and block my tethering access. When this happens I get the T-Mo Hotspot Upsell redirect.
I can bypass this on my computer using a user-agent string change, or Opera and it also connects to my smart TV and Blu-Ray player with no issues, but once T-Mobile "blocks" my tether access, I cannot access the PSNetwork on my PS3. I just want to play online!
Does anyone else have this issue? Solutions?
I am running CM10.1 on my Nexus 4.
No one? Ugh.

Any mod that allows use of both WiFi and Mobile data for USB tethering?

I know that the download booster mod allows downloads over 30MB to utilize both, but Anyway to get that working for USB tethering without a min. limit? I was able to hack my neighbors wifi but hope it can be better if i am able to use my mobile data at the same time, especially for video streaming.
Stealing wifi from your neighbor isn't good enough?

its fine for basic web browsing, but not really strong enough for video streaming. my mobile data is great, but would also like to have faster speeds.
While I do not condone stealing people's WiFi, this concept would surely be wonderful.
The only way I got it to work was using Connectify software on the computer. However, your public IP constantly changes due to using two different networks. I never thought into looking how the download booster works, I personally delete it from my device after rooting lol. I always assumed it would be switching IP addresses as well due to changing networks.
The problem with that is, streaming sites reset when they see an IP change and your video just stops playing. Same thing happens when downloading files.
