i have a Motoroi XT720 rooted. i just want to use 3g, sms, call features of the phone. is there a way to maku it unlock?
anyone guys?
come on guys,anyone?
Well, I'll tell you that I've certainly read your posts each time you bump this, but I hesitate to answer because your question is so vague and without any details to work from.
The only way I know to remove a sim lock is to use the various shops/online stores that sell unlock codes. As far as the how to get 3G working... you need to find out what frequencies are used by your carrier and what their apn settings are.
Oh, my bad. What should i post here about my xt720? Is unlock code the only way?

I don't expect you need to unlock, but *you* asked about it in the first post...?!?
I'll just suggest that your phone is in your hands in front of your eyes giving you trouble. Most of us just aren't psychic.
If you want help, you need to tell us what you need help with as *specifically* as possible. If you don't want help just continue what you're doing and before long you'll be on everyone's block list.

Try typing words exactly as they are displayed on the phone in a dialog/error message or take a screenshot/photo. I can't even guess what "unlock thing" means. I assume you flashed the ROM yourself? Did it work on stock before you flashed the custom ROM?
oh to be clear ,the problem is i cant use SIM card. no signal, no recognition, no anything.
and yes i flashed the rom by myself. And on stock rom it does not work also.

"Sim Pin"
my phone's current state is no gsm. no sms and call features. no phone features.
I think a sim pin code is different from a subsidy lock (but I'm not 100% certain--subsidy lock is sometimes called a sim lock--sorry, it's confusing). A subsidy lock is what requires an unlock code. I know some people have reported problems using sim pin codes when using Motoroi ROMs after they were ported to Milestone XT720 (I think it was mostly French users that reported the problem--you can try searching the Bravo and XDAspecial threads in the XT720 Development section). IIRC the CyanogenMod's usually haven't had this problem, though and your signature say you're at least tried a CM7-based ROM.
I think people are suggesting that your carrier might be able to help you troubleshoot the problem. It sounds like a configuration problem on your sim card. It could be that you need a different sim card or that they need to reprogram it. At the very least I think you should know what the sim pin code is...

Sim pin lock: you have to enter a pin that you choose to use the phone
Subsidy lock: the phone is sold under contract by a particular carrier (suppose: SKTelecom) and only will work with a sim card from that same carrier.
To remove a sim lock you need to get an unlock code. I have not done this, but there are companies that you can purchase this from online. You have to provide them information about your phone (IMIE code and others I think) and they use some server to compute an unlock code that you enter in the phone. I think the online services charge something like $15 to provide the code. There are many videos on youtube showing how to unlock the XT720 (for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSCNxR2yzMw -- not an endorsement/recomendation/anything of that company -- just the first thing I found when searching youtube for "xt720 unlock"). So you can look at those videos and see if that's what you need to do or if you're seeing something else. There are also links in related videos that claim to tell you how you might go about generating the unlock code yourself (warez).

Put a SIM card in and see what happens? It'll request either an unlock code, or not let you do anything if it's locked/blocked.
Phoning an operator would also work.
Yea, if it's locked, a foreign SIM won't work. But it can be unlocked. If it's blocked, it just won't connect to any network, no matter what SIM you put in.
The difference is this: Locked means it needs a unlock code to allow other networks. This was done by carriers as a means to keep cell phones on their networks.
Blocked means it's been reported stolen or lost and won't connect to anything without changing the IMEI (which is in most cases illegal to do for the purpose of unblocking)

I dont think its loked cuz I could use the phone first (with both of my sim cards), and after 2 weeks i couldnt call after I made a restore, it was exactly after the restore it went like that. But I have 2 simcards different operators, with one of the i get connection, but cant call, but once i could message with it with the other sim I dont even get connection. I've search around and its probably blocked the guy i bought it from has tricked me *********!!!! But I dont understand, I got it with a cardboard and everything.......
MOD EDIT - Language removed.
Talk to the carrier and see if he reported it before cussing him. It might not be his fault.

I've already unlocked D2G.
But, My friends import Locked D2G or Locked Droid pro.
So I'll advice about unlock solution.
We already known follow unlock problems.
1. Must be activation verified by Verizon
2. Almost E-bay unlock code is FAIL.
Some of threads mention about "TurboSIM".
I known the 'TurboSIM' is bypass network unlock procedure.
But I can't see about this TurboSIM use SUCCESS UNLOCK or
SUCCESS BYPASS NETWORK LOCK PROCEDURE.
Who can success network unlock bypass using TurboSIM?
I was the one suggesting a turbosim. However somebody tested already and said turbosim didn't unlock the phone. That was a single report. Turbosim bypassed successfully lock on my older Motorola Milestone (gsm droid 1). There are many turbosim models available, maybe they didn't try the right one?

I got it from ebay back in early 2009. There is no really brand or something. Came in black paper sleeve with red sign saying smart unlock sim and a lock icon beside...
I recently got newer turbosim again from ebay (for testing purposes), it came with very similar look and packaging. I believe it is the same manufacturer over in China who makes them.
New turbosims work, data and everything, but apparently incoming calls are hit and miss. Confirmed by me and somebody else who tried. So- unreliable solution unfortunately.

I did stumble across reports of successful D2G unlocking with TurboSim. There was even a link to the exact ebay auction with the TurboSim that did the job.
I saw it either somewhere on here or on http://www.droidforums.net
If you look for it I am sure you can find it. Hope it helps.
Alright I found it for you

I have my D2G with TurboSIM in Ukraine.
TurboSIM really allows to bypass the network lock mechanism in the phone, but all Ukrainian major GSM operators block the access of phone with TurboSIM to their networks.
So here is the situation:
Put the SIM card with TurboSIM to D2G and launch the phone. The phone will successfully register in the network, all services (calls, sms, mms, gprs/edge) will be working properly… till the first re-registration in the network.
If, for some reason the phone have to re-register in the network, the network won't allow to re-register with TurboSIM. You'll have to put your SIM card to a regular GSM phone, register there once, and then you'll be able to use it with D2G once again (till the first re-registration).
I have this TurboSIM.
hxxp://themyshop4you.com/images/turbo_sim_card_no_cut.jpg
but mine has different packaging and I still had to cut the SIM card.
_V_i_c_ i am in the Dominican Republic and my situation is exactly the same as yours.
Hi!
I am also from Ukraine and got the same problem as _V_i_c_. There is any solution how to make this phone work with turbosim?
same problem in Bulgaria, it looks like the turbo can bypass the phone lock, but couldnt bypass the network security
i think that the android OS is responsible too for that, because i try this turbo in other OS handset and with them there is no problem, only on android phones i have this issue- no data and second registration fail
tried some turbo programing with PIN change but no success, now im starting to feel that android dont allow such a tweaking

Do you mean data connection? If you can bypass simlock with the turbosim, but you cannot set required access points, it is the actual turbosim problem. Older turbosims don't work properly on android phones APN setup does not stick. Latest turbosim's have solved that, but still phone works quite unreliably (especially for incoming calls/messages).
yes i mean data connection, and your answer make sense it is qite possibe that im a victim of ebay fraud

Don't be fooled by the fancy name. Look for TurboSIM 2011 firmware or something like that. I had couple of TurboSim's I bought back in 2009 with them the phone unlocks but no data connection is possible as APN settings do not stick. Recently got another TurboSIM which does not have the APN problem - data and all works, but it is not without problems. Looks like incoming communications to the phone are hit and miss. But at $5 shipped it is worth trying if your phone cannot be unlocked by code at this moment.
Rebel SIM do not work with Droid 2 global A956 - phone enters in reboot loop
I know this thread is pretty necro, but just in case someone else stumbles across it on a search like I did, there is a turbosim type solution for the Droid 2 global. It's the no-cut sim unlocker on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200539432676?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Universal No Cut Cell Phone Mobilephone Sim Unlock Card
That's the one I got it works great, except for the fact that you can't set up the mms data account (in the US at least) because the APN disappears if you change the MCC or MCN. (I have my D2G working in the US based on other threads found online, look up TBH band unlock if you need it.)
hi
i unlocked my global with no problem first you have unlock its radio first mabe the numbers they gave u wasnt right
It would be really great if people stopped posting “I unlocked my phone without any problems”. People who cannot unlock theirs are really happy for you, freddt2790, and they're definitely gonna let you finish, but there are cases where the unlock codes were altered and no databases have them. That's why people are trying to circumvent locks with TurboSIM and the likes.
Thanks for sharing your success story. It doesn't work for everyone, though.
Quick update on the unlock solution I was using. Not only does it not let you have data, but it also drops your phone network and makes your sim undetected several times a week. Finally had to forget it and go back to the old phone again. I may try ordering another model or two of these turbosim type cards and see if any of them work.

There are models which will let you configure APN and use data, but the loss of Sim registration will still remain. TurboSIM solution is not usable form of unlocking the phone if you want reliable phone. I'd suggest you to sell the phone to somebody in the States where they can use it on Verizon and buy another phone. You can get Milestone 2 if you like D2G form factor so much. Or simply buy another D2G which is sold unlocked.
Here we go with yet another unlock solution.
This one applies to almost (if not all) devices which are radio S-off, it’s fairly easy to use and doesn’t wipe data/settings nor have that ugly side effect (when using diag files) in which you lose conectivity to mobile network.
Supported devices so far:
HTC Sensation (pyramid)
HTC Evo 3D (shooter)
HTC EVO 3D GSM (shooteru)
HTC myTouch Slide 4G
Click to collapse
(by the use of revolutionary)
and:
Sprint EVO 4G
Droid Incredible (HTC Incredible)
HTC Desire CDMA (HTC BravoC)
Click to collapse
(by the use of unrevoked 3 – not tested)
These are the required steps you have to take:
1. S-off your phone by using Revolutionary (if you haven’t already done that).
2. Fill in the form with the required data. This will generate an unique Config.dat file for your device. Please enter a valid email address, as you’ll be sent there the link to download the file.
This step you'll have to take here
3. Put the file on the root of your sdcard and reboot your phone into HBOOT (adb reboot oem-42). Once you’re there, navigate to Simlock and press Power. The phone will load the file and remove the simlock. Some text will appear on the screen and at a certain point you’ll be asked to press Vol-Up to restart the phone.
4. Just do it, and you’ll be done!
PLEASE NOTE!:
This solution is heavily linked to the device it's being applied to by the use of IMEI, which can be considered a breach in security.

Not for certain circumstances.. T-Mobile will only give it you you if you meet some criteria.. i.e. you're account has been active for 6 months.. I don't know what the actual criteria are.. that was just an example...
not to mention that you have to wait over 24hours to get the email with the unlock code.. this method was a lot faster than a half hour phone call with a t-mobile rep.
I was a customer for about 6 days and was given the code over the phone.

my touch 4g Slide NO CALLS with S-off sim unlocked METROpCS
So its 2014.. I know I should get a better phone.. Good news its I got my my touch 4g slide bootloader unlocked and S-off. Also did the sim unlock on the site that emails you back the file and unlocks the sim.. BUT here is my problem
when I put my metro sim in the phone.. no matter which rom I load (which I can now load rom recovery from sd) the phone wont work..
When I go into the settings metropcs and att show up but when I try and select it, it tells me not allowed right now, or sim card doesn't allow that connection. So I cannot get it to work. Is there a way they are locking sim cards to their phones?
I would have thought getting S-off and running the simlock file I'd be good to go.. Anyone PLZ help I am desparate to figure out what is wrong here.
Picture Of S-off UNLOCKED bootloader NO SVC
Here is a picture of the phone.. Likewise no SVC with metro sim.. I don't have a tmobile card to test with but I think either the sim lock didn't work, or metropcs is somehow locking the sim to IMEI
Anyone with ideas here plz help. If it is IMEI to sim is there a way to unlock sim or change iMEI? I know its illegal to change an ESN but imei..
Also if its blacklisted would it be blacklisted for metro too?

So I thought of a couple things. With a little research, one got shot down right off the bat:
http://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/carrier.php?c=11
http://www.gsmarena.com/t_mobile_mytouch_4g_slide-4018.php
Some carriers use weird frequency bands that the phone wouldn't support. MetroPCS uses 1700 or 1900MHz (depending where you are), which the phone totally covers. So not that.
Related to that though, is the APN settings. If you have more than one (my Rogers setup has 4), it may be stuck on an APN that just isn't working for you. So Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
Finally (just thought of it), you may want to test your MetroPCS SIM card on a different (smart)phone. I had recent problems with my SIM (I guess it was swapped out too many times, besides being 6-7 years old), although it worked fine on a feature phone. And if you can get your hands on a different SIM (T-Mobile or otherwise), and encounter the same problem, it could very well be a (hard-to-resolve) problem with the phone. If it is blacklisted, it would be blacklisted nationally if not internationally, and there is an IMEI database to check it against:
http://www.imei.info/
Hope this helps.
Check your imei for blacklist status on the tmo website. MetroPCS is now wholly owned by TMo, it shouldn't need to be unlocked. AT&T and Tmo share blacklist data as well. If your phone is sketchy you are out of luck.
If the SIM is old you might try a new one and see if that helps.

I was looking into this, and this forum thread came up:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...-married-to-ESN-of-one-phone-only-that-sucks!
Looks like you can transfer phones by letting MetroPCS know of the new IMEI, but you cannot register two (or more) IMEI's for the same SIM. So depends on how you want to use your Doubleshot. I'd give them a call (or better yet, go into their store), maybe the old IMEI will still work (the thread was a bit iffy on this result) with the new (Doubleshot) one entered.
Thanks

Although I tried several firmwares on it and Netflix will no longer work with custom roms (thank DRM for that) I did get hella mods to this one, but would love to have both, I was thinking the sim was somehow locked. I have a sim reader any software to check? copy clone??? new to GSM, but know lots about CDMA.. I wish it were easy to just clone IMEI like ESNS
Is there any way to unlock the sim unlock the phone for free?
When I got my G2, I was able to unlock it via gfree.
If not, can a fellow XDA T-Mobile user help me out? I run on AT&T. They're free to request and only takes a few minutes...
Yes.

I know the Sensation had a way to unlock once you had root, I'll see if I can find the link once I get home.
Here you go.

I think that code is specific to your handset.

Which part is specific to the phone? I obtained the unlock code for my phone from T-Mobile, but right now I don't have another SIM. I would like to enter the code before I get to China and find out the code I'm given doesn't work. I remember on my old Motorola phone I could enter a sequence in the dialer to bring up the unlock function, enter the unlock code, and it was good. Is that possible on the MT4GS?

Do you recommend the method from the sensation forum, or your method?
They are both posted under the sticky in the general section.

If you can get your hands on an AT&T or other non tmobile sim card, you can unlock your phone. Just insert any "foreign" sim card and the phone will prompt you to enter the code.
lol, flag down a friend and use their sim card for a few seconds
I'll try tipping **05*06390811*1234*1234# but it gave an error and then 9 try left. The method for the sensation didnt help either.
You can always call tmobile (if you have tmobile) and say that you are going to leave the country for 1 month and need to unlock the phone to use it outside. They are legally obligate to give you the code if you have been with them more than 6 months (or something like that). I dont know what are the laws outside USA

That's the reason why I started this thread. I don't have tmobile, so I can't ask for a code from them. I was hoping someone else on XDA would be able to help me out with that, by requesting a code for me.
I used a 8 year old NEXTEL sim to get the unlock prompt
I was totally aware it would not connect to any network afterwards, I only needed the prompt.
I did verify it (days later) with a AT&T sim and all was good

You have to have root to get the msl code threw the terminal . You did something wrong I can assure you it does work.
I have never used the second method in the sticky.

IFRC they are the same thing; the sensation had 2 alternatives and the one I posted is just one of the two. I would use the one I posted, it requires 2 lines of adb but should not be too complicated.
Sorry for the late reply
Try this, it may work

I got an 8 digit code, but I can't try it yet since I can't get the sim lock screen to come up, trying an ATT sim just doesn't work for some reason, trying a simple and telna sim soon.
I too am unable to get a unlock prompt. I got an 8 digit code using the method 1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
Running CM9.1, so that might be why... but not sure.

You both need to be on a Stock Sense ROM to get the unlock prompt. MikTouch will do as well as bullet proof. I did it from MikTouc

I did mine on MikTouch yesterday. Worked like a champ.

Wow, seems like such a long time ago. I remember starting this thread the very first night I got my phone
Any idea what I can do to get rid of this?
I have unlocked bootloader, installed recovery and rooted the device, still this crap pops up after inserting a different SIM card.
when bought seller claimed the phone was locked under Vodafone, but it is my understanding that Vodafone doesn't really blocked phones, besides I have unlocked the whole thing, if I install a custom ROM this would solve it all right?
Nvm try paying for a sim unlock code cellunlocker.net has it for 8 bucks well thats the quote i got

***NEVERMIND i misread everything this is about some phone/sim lock code***
Hi there!
Put the Simcard in another phone and turn Sim-pinlock off.
I had this problem before when messing around phone's alternative OS
Hope this helps!

She tried all 00000000 (8 Zeros) but it didn't work, I'm starting to be concerned now as all the other measures haven't worked.
Even http://www.cellunlocker.net/htc-unlock.php
is reporting do not order if phone comes under Vodafone (Spain) which is the case.
I'm wondering if installing a custom ROM after a full reset could clear the issue!?
PUK Code
have you tried using a different sim card? As far as i can tell it looks like you have been locked out of that sim card. The only way to fix this is to get the PUK code from your service provider and enter it in. The default sim card code (the 4 digit one) is 1234 or 0000.

PUK as well as PIN is a combination of 4 numbers which she has.
She is being asked to enter the SIM Network Unlock PIN which is a combination of 8 numbers
As for a different SIM card she will try tomorrow.

if the phone is locked under vodafone then u need to get a unlock code from vodafone or buy a unlock code from some website(if ur trying to use it for another network). thats probably why u keep getting that message.

hi guyz.. need help badly... what do you think is the problem? I tried "Quadrant" app and all was nice and I had 5000+ score however during the 3d test where a planet was rotating, the planet stretches intermittently during that phase.. I dont know what was being tested at that time but I think it will give a clue.
Note: I also encountered this strange stretching/flickering effect on lane splitter, where's my water and train conductor 2. I also saw random/intermittent text stretching on google map application... please help...
