Just use some more advanced media player, like MX Video Player. Streams mkv, mp4 and avi seamlessly over upnp - So ill guess it plays most others as well.
I'm using DicePlayer. It plays everything so far.
Either use MoboPlayer

Or convert your videos to be 960x540
Hi all, I've got a Flyer 10.1 which has been upgraded to 3.2 Honeycomb. What is the best format to convert a movie to, is it MPEG or MP4? any help would be much appreciated!
Basically you are referring to the same format since .mpeg is MPEG-1 and .mp4 is MPEG-4. These are just different versions.
I think there isn't much of difference in which one you use.
Put any format, like mikpel said over me
But for watching the movies try to use the MX player... for the PRO version, just google it
If you get some lags on the video, switch to S/W and its gonna work better but just if the video gets lagy
There is a difference as an mp4 can be in various codecs such as h264 or xvid whereas a standard mpeg video cannot.
Most common mp4 formats use xvid or h264 video codec with mp3 or aac audio.
Flyer supports mp4 in h263, h264, divx and xvid codecs with mp3 aac or wma audio.
Best for quality yet smaller filesize is h264 video with aac audio but an xvid avi mp4 with mp3 audio can be played on pretty much any thing and is similar in quality though produces slightly larger filesizes.

I am facing 1080P video playback problem on 38R. I can play video by mx player s/w decoder. but not h/w or default player. But it should play as it is 1080p JDI display. While watching video on youtube if I select 1080P, video is stucked & only audio is running. In MX player H/w or default player, I need to restart my phone. only s/w is running well. But its not a solution. because U can not enjoy 1080P on youtube or in any website. please check it and help.
I downloaded a YouTube music video with YouTube downloaded. The file is mkv, audio container is AAC, and play with mx player. The video plays fine but there is no audio.
And I downloaded the custom codec and loaded it into mx player and disabled h/w decoding but there is no sound from the video, what is happening?

Hi there, I was understanding how the MX Player handle the Decoding settings for various types of Video Formats.
I figured out that on default settings all videos are played by HW DECODER And if it fails then SW OR HW+ DECODER is used.
Android Media Framework supports H.265 VIDEO IN ONLY MPEG-4 CONTAINER as
https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/media/media-formats.html
So when I play H.265 Video in MKV CONTAINER It is still played via HW Decoder in MX Player.
How??

Thanks for sharing your findings with us.
In most of the modern Android devices, android media framework can handle HEVC videos streams on Matroska container natively. It seems that this documentation is not updated to modern android versions or it is applicable only to nexus and pixel devices.
Oh.
Ok.
Thanks for solving the query.
