v20c root issue (using Dan's patch) (fixed) - LG Optimus 3D

hey everyone,
first off, thank you so much dan! all of us O3D guys owe you a lot of thanks!
but, during the rooting process i had a problem. i updated all the drivers, put it on debugging, etc., but during the rooting process the "Owning phone..." came up as:
"run-as: Package 'com.ti.fmrxapp' is unknown".
it makes it past and continues the process, saying that it was successful. but, clearly with no superuser icon and no rooting, it didn't. lol. so i went through my apps. i got rid of anything that needed superuser status to be useful (like titanium, i was so excited at work for the root that i installed them pre-emptively). ran it again, and i'm good!!!
thanks again dan, if you're ever in toronto, a pint has your name on it!

I keep getting:
run-as: Package 'com.ti.fmrxapp' has corrupt installation
every time the script runs "adb shell "run-as com.ti.fmrxapp ..."
After a while it says
"su: Permission denied".
The root failed.
I don't have titanium backup or any other root app installed.

Getting adb not recognized as internal or external command, drivers installed, dubugging on! Any help greatly appreciated!

Hey guys,
Remember to use lg mobile suppport tool, and get the latest updated usb driver, the latest .net framework from microsoft, and yeah obvi have debugging on. try it again and see if that helps.

Solution
I had the same problem and I fixed it restoring the factory default.
Then use the Dan's patch.

I confirm that resetting to factory settings made my phone rootable through this exploit.
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA

Its true, but i need to root my phone without resetting it to factory settings.
I changed some Symlinked (chmod, chown) with Busybox (from toolbox to busybox) and I lost my root!!!!
How can i re-root my phone without restoring the factoy settings???

[Q] SE Xperia Pro - Unable to root with DooMLoRD v4

My SE Xperia Pro MK16i was previously rooted using DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit. The software has just been upgraded to version 4.0.2.A.0.62 which then resulted in the complete loss of Root Access. I tried to re-root using DooMLoRD v4, but without success. to me it's the same
i don't find the form to root my phone mk16 with the new version, and i read in too much sites and i dont find anything.
Hi,
Sorry that you are having the same problem rooting version 4.0.2.A.0.62.
I have ended up using WotanClient to flash the software back down to version 4.0.2.A.0.58 to enable me to re-root my Xperia Pro with DooMLoRD v4. Flashing wiped the phone's settings as expected, and losing root meant that I could not make backups of everything before going down this path. It took me quite a while to reconfigure the phone even though all the apps were easy to re-download from my Google account at Android Market. I was hoping that OTA Rootkeeper could then be used to help upgrade to version 4.0.2.A.0.62, but the filesystem does not seem to support root protection. Creating a separate Ext3 partition on the SD card did not make any difference and I cannot find any other information on how to make it work. This is a real pain.
Anyway, at least I now have a rooted phone with the previous software and Titanium Backup is functioning once again. I have used Titanium to freeze the update service in order to stop the constant OTA notifications regarding the availability of the software version 4.0.2.A.0.62. There is no way that I shall upgrade unless somebody discovers a straightforward exploit to root the new version. I am now beginning to doubt whether this will happen anytime soon.
I downgraded my SE Xperia Pro to 4.0.2.A.0.58 and rooted it. Will I lose root if I update OTA? Also, will I lose my apps and settings?
I used to backup my rom data via ClockworkMod on my HTC Desire Z and restore it after an update, but there's no CWM for the Xperia Pro.
SE Xperia Pro OTA Software Update
My understanding is that you will not lose root or settings and apps with an OTA software update for the Xperia Pro. However, for some reason the update failed when I tried using this method to upgrade from version 4.0.2.A.0.58 to version 4.0.2.A.0.62. I am still looking for a solution to this problem. Please post here if you are successful.
I have flashed my phone over wotan server to. 42, after that I have rooted over the flash tool, and instaled titanium backap pro and uninstaled all necesery apps (facebook...moxier, fun and downloads and others) and try to upgrade to .62, and phone says me that is unable to upgrade software... Phone works great, but why I cant upgare software? Is it because I uninstaled some sistem apps which doesnt have any thing whit system works?
Sent from my MK16a using XDA
SE Xperia Pro OTA Software Update
I did exactly the same and had identical results. The fact that we have both uninstalled some unnecessary apps using Titanium and then been unable to upgrade using the OTA software update method could be the reason why it does not work. It probably counts as having modified the system folder. However, I am not prepared to go through all the trouble of re-flashing my phone in order to reinstall the missing apps and then try again.
The best solution would be if somebody could find an exploit to root version 4.0.2.A.0.62 directly. I would then simply upgrade the phone using SE PC Companion and avoid all the other problems.
Xperia pro software
Now i flashed again my phone to .42, roted, and upgradet sucsefuly to .62, root is still here, and now i will remove all necesery apps.
So, first flash than root, than upgrade, and make your phone like you want.
Hi guys, I have bought a new Xperia Pro MK16i with 4.0.2.A.0.58, not rooted yet. I get a notification about availability of OTA update to 4.0.2.A.0.62. What are the best steps to root my phone? Note: I want to uninstall some SE apps too.

Hey! Don't update your phone until you root it (I'm sure you already know this). To root it, you can use this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
It's very easy to follow.
Before you do it, though, you'll need to install the ADB (Android Debug Bridge) drivers, which you can find here, in Sony's website: http://developer.sonymobile.com/wportal/devworld/downloads/download/sonyericssonxperiaproxperiarayxperiarayso-03cdrivers?cc=gb&lc=en. Or you can also install it using a tool called SDK Manager (that's how I installed the driver). An easy tutorial: http://www.invialgo.com/2011/install-adb-for-android-phone/
After you root it and before you make any changes (unnistalling system apps...), update via OTA (not through PC Companion!) to firmware .62 and after that's done, you should still have root and will be able to do what you want with your XPro. It's very easy.
Is using the wotanclient the best way to downgrade to be able to root my phone, I have already upgraded the phone and it is not unlocked/modded in anyway at present.

I just tried to downgrade my phone from .62 to .58 using WotanClient.
For some reason there was an error during firmware flashing
[SSL] Error 12152
Error: file header write failed!
CUST file write failed
and the whole process just stopped. I tried to restart but the WotanClient
said no credit which means the Euro1.99 i just bought was gone with the error
This is so disappointing. I tried to recover my phone which is now just a piece of brick by installing a new software (repair phone) via it SonyPCcompanion but it seems like the PCcompanion couldn't connect to
the phone.
Help please!!!
donno what to do now. if I try to flash it again with WotanClient, will it work? should I go to version .58 or .42?
Can you Please tell me how to do that?

I know this is a very old post, but it describes exactly my problem.
I recently bought the Xperia Pro, and it has version MK16i 4.0.2.A.0.62
I tried to root it but it gave me the error as described in the first post.
I assume there is no real solution, so I am asking for advice if it is worth the trouble by downgrading, rooting and then upgrading again?
Currently the phone has locked boatloader.
Honestly, all I want to do is to get root access so I can disable some pre-installed apps from "Disable Service"
Any advice is appreciated:good:

Confirming to many apps. Keeping Megatron Root from Working.
I upgraded my LG Thrill to Gingerbread 2.3.5, that went pretty well, and it worked perfectly.
My Problem came when I tried to Root the phone once again. I tried Superoneclick, it failed. Gingerbreak "Failed". Z4 "Failed".
Everything I found while searching the web pointed me to Megatron Root. A number of people had good luck and it worked perfectly. Then there were people like me who tried over and over to get the process to work, it continued to Fail as well.
Back to Google searching for more information, I found that many other people were also having the same issue. The Solution Return to Phone to Factory Preset, remove the fmradio, and finally that I had too many apps loaded on to my phone.
I believe that one of the apps loaded on my phone had a hand in blocking the Rooting process. Without knowing which one and with some frustration, I started uninstalling programs. Radios, Police Scanners, QR Readers, Graphics Programs, Skype, ES File, ES Task monitor, and my backup program. In all I got rid of about 20 programs, several which worked at root level. Which I also read could be the cause of the Megatron root Failing.
Once I removed all of the extra programs, plus programs working as Superuser, I ran Megatron again. Well it worked, this time when I ran the program it went through perfectly. No Errors, it performed just as the program was intended. The verified end result was that my LG Thrill 925P V20P Thrill was rooted once again.
My suggestion is to remove some of the programs that you installed. Networking, Picture editors, Scanning, file managers etc. Anything that might have a hand in controlling a input device, or a output device. I didn't worry about games, I even left on the Basic Root Check program.
Try this process, it worked for me, and I hope it will work for you too.

i got the same problem
After i got same problem, I solved with few simple steps :
- turn of device
-boot in recovery
-wipe everything
-restart phone
-now apply Megatron root without any problem.
in my case it didn't work because I had airplane mode on. SuperOneClick failed anyway (first time was caught by antivirus but after I disabled antivirus it failed just the same. Can't tell if antivirus deleted something from SuperOneClick as it sometimes quarantines stuff)
Megatron wrote evil.apk, rebooted, tried something (think it failed), rebooted again, did something else (said it failed the success), rebooted again, said exploit complete then iRoot who I had opened at the same time reported phone already rooted

[Q] Unable to root device after unbrickin (actual versio v21e)

Hello ppl.
First of all i have to say that this is my first post but i've been reading this forum for a quite long time and you guys rock!
Well let's get to the problem i'm facing.
I have an P920H from Brazil and i've rooted it with mastermind method (dunno if that's the exactly name, but it's master something, sorry )
No problem with that, all worked flawlessly.
Then i decided to flash Prometheus custom rom and kernel v21 version
No problem with that either, all good to go.
But the thing is that i realized that i flashed the wrong baseband (didn't read about it to be honest.. guess i should have flashed 1.5 [based on v20 and not 1.5+]. ok i'm a dumbass) and then i got no signal from my operator.
After that i tried to restore a backup that i had made with rom manager... an error ocurred and my phone bricked, got stuck on LG logo.
And then, after reading tons of topics I could restore it and made it boot.
That's when my problem came.
My phone still is using prometheus kernel i guess, and is on v21e (originally was on v20a).
Master method and superone click just can't root it and I cant install another firmware over it. It just warns about errors and said it can't find SU bla bla.
What do you guys think I should do? I want to go back to my original firmware or install the correct custom rom but can't get root.
Thanks in advance.
Dan Rosenberg to the rescue... Thanks Dan!
To make it short try using Megatron Root by Dan Rosenberg (thanks Dan) which is designed for v21e. A link you can find it here or search the Optimus 3D forums (or LG Thrill). Hope that helps. It worked for me, using now WaterBear Rom on v21e

Anyway... go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27380826#post27380826 and see post number 142 to 145, especially last one cause I've used that link to download Megatron Root. And it worked.
Just be patient, read all about it and try it again. Good luck

[SOLVED]
Thanks guys! Solved my problem
Here is how
First ive tried the method above and it didnt work, actually i was still with the same firmware version (21e)
So no good.
(Btw i`m running Windows 7 64 bits on bootcamp, but it should work for Windows 7 in general)
The solution is quite simple, right click ond adb.exe and under preferences set it to compatibility mode Windows XP and check run as administrator.
then execute the bat file as administrator also and you should be rooting just fine.
In other posts that you ask for help...

Problem rooting Live WIth Walkman (WT19i)

I'm trying to root my SE WT19i, but it's being impossible. I´ll tell you all what I've tried so anyone can see any solution:
I followed this thread for downgrading from andoid 4.0 to 2.3. First, flashed the phone with the 4.0.2.A.0.62 version.
Then, for installing adb drivers, tried installing PC Companion, but it wasn't able to install any driver. So, I searched and installed the drivers this way (installing the “Google USB Driver” package).
Then, following the first thread, downloaded the DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit [v4.0] , and followed the instructions (USB debugging, unknown sources, even the 10 minutes screen timeout). Don't worked.
So, I flashed again the phone, with the 4.0.2.A.0.42, and tried one more time (and changed the options again according to the script's instructions). Don't worked.
Same for 4.0.2.A.0.58, that is the version that runs my phone now.
Then, I tried this method, by using the Super One Click. That program prompted me to install drivers, so I installed all I was prompted, but don't worked any exploit method of it (yeah, I know the other method "maybe won't work in Android 2.3 and higher", but I had to try).
As there were new drivers installed, I thought the DoomLord's script now, finally, will be able to work, so I tried again. Well, the console output is this (and it is generated in a few seconds...)

Well... the "files\zergRush" actually exists. I haven't modified anything in the files more than unzipping them. I don't know why don't recognise it, but because of that, I downloaded directly the zergRush script and replace it, but didn't worked either even when the DoomLord's script found it. I've also tried to unzipping it directly in C:\, but the results are the same.
I'm using Windows 7, but have tried to run in compatibility mode with xp sp3, and with admin permissions without results.
I don't know what more to do, I think I've tried all. Can anyone help?
PS: I was going to post this in the thread of DoomLord's script (that is the correct place for this, I think), but I'm not allowed yet, sorry.
Accordingly to the rules, bumping thread so it can be seen by anyone who could know about it.
I'm currently trying to contact someone in the IRC, but it'is a bit dead... :-/
install stock rom again and try again
That's already done. Several times. Now, I think the problem is more of the computer for not founding the zergRush script than of the phone. I need a way for getting the script working, but don't know how to...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: I give up. I can't have my phone useless for more time (because is stupid reconfigure it each time you flash it...). I'm interested no more in rooting the phone. Thanks to all who have read this thread.

[Q] Problems Rooting Verizon Razr XT912 4.1.2

I have been trying to root my Verizon Razr XT912 running Device Software Version: 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US with the only tool I can find to use on mac (DROID_RAZR_Utility_Jellybean_XT912_WinMacLin) and I keep getting the following error. I am not sure what I am doing wrong and this seems like the most knowledgable forum. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? Is it my phone, my OS, my connection? I am pretty certain I followed all the steps exactly and I've searched through all the threads on the forum and most of them say something to the effect of "...then I tried again and it worked". Well I've tried about 15 times over the course of two weeks and nothing worked, I hate to admit defeat... but I need some help. Thanks in advance.

Here's what worked for me
I was having the exact same problem until I ran across this in another forum:
Windows-
-Download the zip file and extract.
-Connect device via USB (Make sure you have the current Moto drivers FIRST!)
-Make sure USB Debug is on
-Make sure you have Smart Actions fully installed, unfrozen and unmodified
-Make sure the phone IS NOT in mass storage mode
-Double click run.bat
For some reason, that fifth line is not included in the batch file's instructions. Once I knew to change from mass storage to camera mode, all went well!
