Hey guys, I have this question on my head constantly as I use dolphin HD browser the most on my Note which I'd still running 2.3x. There are quite some ICS roms now released but haven't really found the need to upgrade especially its still on beta. The question is very simple, is dolphin HD hardware accelerated in ICS such as in honeycomb? I am on CheckROM V5 and many apps are already hardware accelerated EXCEPT DOLPHIN HD! If it is supported, then I will definitely upgrade to that leaked ICS ROM. Pinch to zoom and scrolling, panning, is it even as close to the stock browser which is extremely smooth. Thanks guys!

Seems smoother than on stock GB which i was using before... personally i use the chrome beta obviously minus flash.... im on the rocketrom 1.5
Thanks my friend. I did find out that the latest version added support for ICS so I guess it should be as smooth as butter now. I will try out the rocket ROM soon!

I had the same problem with dolphin not hw accelerated in GB, dunno why
but my friend's Galaxy SII is smooth.
I just flashed team rocket 1.5, dolphin is hw accelerated!!
Go flash now!!
Anyway, after flashing, you will be spoilt for choices for browser.
Stock browser
ICS brower+
Dolphin
Chrome Beta
Sweeeeeet , I have to back up my current CheckROM V5 now and start playing with it on this lonely Saturday night. Talk about being a total geek!
UPDATED to 1.5 and WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW gonna play with her all nighter!!!! ICS is like a turbo tuned cooked GB!

I had galaxy nexus before note. I have a heavy internet usage. All browser i have used had problems with fx resize text which is very important. Only opera could do it. So i have sold nexus and bought a note. The best device since hd2 ;-)
Good choice to choose the NOTE over the GNexus. The hardware of the NOTE is still top notched and future proof for sometime! I tried Opera Mobile on the ICS ROM which performed the worse (out of stock, ICS Browser +, Chrome Beta, and Dolphin HD). It was really ROUGH and NOT SMOOTH at all! Time to get real HW Acceleration on it, cos if not, they are falling WAY WAY WAY behind!
it is as smooth as stock in ICS, u could also try ICS browser +, which is a nice browser as well

Hi all,
The browser on 2.3.4 isn't GPU accelerated yet.
Some content rich webpages make surfing impossible with that substantial lag.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Any quick fix to make it GPU accelerated? Or is Google aware of this issue? This has been bugging me
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
You'll probably have to wait for Icecream Sandwich, in the meanwhile, use Opera.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Maybe the issue will be resolved in a future update 2.3.x, we can hope it.
especially when there are many pictures.
Opera handles much better..
Yep, the stock browser on Nexus S is really laggy. I prefer Opera on it.
But it's interesting that the stock browser in Galaxy Tabs Gingerbread ROM is super smooth. And given the fact that it was really awful in the beginning, its a HUGE improvement. So fingers crosses that Nexus S's stock browser gets a performance upgrade before ice cream sandwitch.
Seems odd to me. I bought a smart phone over a feature phone for better web browsing.
I hate it.. I don't understand the limitations when safari on iPhones has been smooth for years on less powerful hardware.
i installed flash 10.3 and all is good with the stock browser
Heres to hoping ice cream sandwich sorts it...as will as bring proxy!

I have no problems with Opera, however does it support Flash ?
If else, i think it defeats the purpose of another web browser

Yes Opera supports flash as well, what is nice with Opera is you can enable certain flash elements within the webpage and not have to enable all of them at once

i really wanna use two browsers in my phone, because sometimes i just like to change the normal practice. opera is good to use. dolphin browser is perfect , never FC. it support flash and pinch-zoom. its amazing.
Anyone tried browsing with stock browser on xda forum here. Its almost unusable.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
i tried, do you mean on the pc or mobile, on the pc i can both view xda with IE and chrome , on the mobile , i use dolphin browser because i have removed the stock browser.LOL
I'm really liking the Nexus S phone but I have to admit that the lag in the browser gets really annoying specially coming from the Iphone 4 it makes me doubt if I should keep the Nexus S or go to another android phone.

It's an android problem, not specific to any handset

And why do you choose that one?
Chrome because its fast.

Chrome beta now. No flash is kind of a drag and there's purple artifacting, but it's super smooth.
i have used maxthon, opera mini, ucweb, dolphin hd, and stock browser.
now i use maxthon.
i think opera mini is the fastest browser i have used. but maxthon is more comfortable and convenient. dophin hd is wonderful, too.
many people in china use UCweb, but i think uc sucks.
i am going to download chrome, although it is a beta version. it's my favorite browser on pc!
Dolphin HD , its kinda like chrome but with flash support

Not Google's fault. Adobe said they won't be supporting Android going forward.
http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplayer/2012/02/flash-chrome-for-android-beta.html?PID=4003003
Opera mobile : around 65% less data.
Pretty, stable & fast.
What else?
Maxthon - small, fast, flash support use hosts file to block ads
Dolphin - adblock sometime doesnt work.
Firefox - sometimes loading so slow but good adblock plugin.
I've used every browser users recommend it here for some reason I always end up using STOCK.

I usually stick to stock browser because I hate getting ask a thousand times "open with: " and checking the "preferred application ticker. Currently trying out Chrome though.

Chrome seems promising in it's beta stage. Will be nice to see what they do with it in the future though.
Hey all,
I've been stuck using the HTC Sensation stock browser because it's a barebones, simple browser. However, the speed of the browser is not where I would like it to be (even after clearing all data and clearing cache).
I tried Dolphin Browser HD for a while, but it ran a little too sluggish for me and I don't need all of those features.
I use Opera Mini when I'm not in wifi range.
However, I'm looking to upgrade my WiFi-only browser. Can you recommend a lightweight, practically barebones browser that's very fast and has flash?
Thanks will be given
i find most browser pretty much average. I use Chrome right now.
Although a bit sluggish since its Beta, it loads pages quite fast.
Try max thon or ics browser you can find them on the market

Yeh, I'd try out chrome (not that light weight) but very quick for me.

You might wanna use Puffin browser, it is full of bugs but very light weight and fast, also it supports flash videos even if you don't have flash
ICS browser works great for me!

I can only recommend you Opera Mobile, the latest version is really fast and responsive, it isnt barebones but i find its better than stock browser for multiple tabs, i have 22 openned right now and using only 200mb compared to 5 tabs and 250 on stock browser, also it seems to render the pages more like a desktop, unfortunately its not very good with flash like Youtube, a bit choppy. Have you tried Boat Browser? its another good option.
As above says I prefer boat browser or boat browser mini.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, people!
I've been testing out Maxathon and Boat browser.
Both are very good! Hard for me to choose which one. I also love Chrome browser now that it's out of beta, but it's very heavy on resources (storage space, phone memory, processor, etc).
I like Opera (not the mini) as my full time browser. Easy to use bookmarks. It loads quick.
I use dolphin mini, it's got great features but is nice and small and light. Tried chrome but it was ridiculously big, about 50mb. Dunno why as I went back to dolphin mini and there's perfect in my eyes, simple browser. Used it on my Desire on ginger bread and still like it on ice

For quick browsing on the go, you might want to check out the new browser "Lynx Browser(Free)" at
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...eejim.app.lynx
It does not load images by default and in addition, you can also turn off javascript for added speed boost.

im an avid user of boat browser but since ive upgraded to cm10 there has been many UI inconsistencies and things that do not work. i tired out dolphin beta and while it's a large download it's the fastest ive used soo far.
So.what's the difference.between this dolphin beta and dolphin hd with the jetpack add on for html5?

i tired the regular dolphin and it was sorta laggy and ate up alot of battery. this one seems super fast, could just be placebo but i urge you to try it out.
I've been using dolphin beta for awhile. Imo, it's one, if not the fastest browser on the market. I don't use any other browsers except the stock one when I need it to play flash. Highly recommended.

I've been a Dolphin user for a long time. I'm curious, what's the deal with Dolphin Jetpack. It's sort of like a plugin, but also a separate app? It sounds like it installs with its own icon that you have to use... or something. I haven't tried it out yet (obviously) as a few comments seemed to say they had problems with it.
Edit: Also, I assume Dolphin Beta is sort of like their version of nightlies?
I've been using dolphin since it's first release and it's still the fastest around.....IMHO. I tried Dolphin Jetpack and it loaded web pages super fast. Only downside is that it ate up too much battery. Since there isn't flash support on DB I've been using Holo Web Browser found here on xda (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891975). It's just as fast if not slightly faster as Dolphin is and plays flash wonderfully.

i tired holo and didn't like it. im super picky about my browsers. as soon as boat fixes the issues ill probably be back on that.
Hey there everybody I am currently using dolphin browser and find it is not very smooth when I first open it. I'm relating this to the sensations inept processor and lack of ram.
I was thinking of using chrome as my default browser but have experienced keyboard glitches with the new Swype keyboard beta (which rocks btw).
The Firefox beta seems very good so far as well, I will continue to test it out and post what I think.
All in all I guess I just want to know what you guys use and find the best. Let's discuss!

actually i am using the default browser
as secondary i have opera and firefox
i was always loving opera browser
about firefox i am vvery happy with the latest updates.now that browser rocks
before updates it was awful(personal opinion)
that's all
edit:now i noticed that you are talking for jelly bean roms.ignore my post
I use Opera Mobile Browser.
Constantly I read about people having problems with browers. They say "Chrome has graphical artifacts. Firefox doesn't load the mobile user agents properly. Dolphin does some other goofy thing...etc etc etc." The list goes on and on.
I've never experienced any of these problems that are commonly complained about on XDA when using Opera.
Try Opera and Opera Mini..
They are good.
Maxthon Browser.
I personally choose boat browser over all after testing all the other browsers available.
