Im looking for a set of network auditing tools? Port scanners, packet sniffers and so on. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I use Anti, though you have to pay to use some advanced features, its the only auditing tool I know of

Thanks for your answer.
I'm going to check it out now.

I've been using fing network tools from the android market, its free and has many features (except sniffing), can't recommended it enough.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.overlook.android.fing
If your feeling really adventurous you could install backtrack on your device, but I don't think much of it works properly if at all.

Thanks! But I'm already using Fing
I don't feel like installing Backtrack on my device yet.
I want to know how far I can go without installing a new OS or anything on my device. Maybe in the future.
Thanks for the answers anyway peoples, if anyone has any more suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Android wifi tether for SGH T959v

I've been searching and reading and I can't seem to find which Android wifi tether works best for our phone.
I went to google and it doesn't say galaxy S 4g so I'm not sure which apk download is safe to use on our phone. I know our phone is different from the vibrant.
Does anyone know which version works best on our phone?
What are you using and how do you rate it?
Thank you for your time and input.

I use easy teather But its not in the market anymore. It doesnt allow u to change Nat type setting. it is a real drag cause I got the phone for to use on my xbox360 so I could play online. But also there are various other apps in the market. just search and u will find and dont forget to check what others have to say about the app you intend on downloading. Some suck some dont.

it actually works fantastic. its kinda hidden though so dont be embarrased. Do you know how to find it?
Sorry to shove this question in here but since this seems like the right topic. Is there an app that will allow access to NAT(network address translation) settings? As usual samaung nor t-mobile could be of any help. I was told rooting would get me the access I need to deal with such a matter. Was this b.s. or is there a way?

Unfortunately your about where I'm at. I can play live on certain games but can't download any content. But it works great for when I watch Netflix, and that's what I use it for.

Yea i was real dissapointed when i found out bout the nat. This was the main reason i got the phone. Hopefully I can find something on this matter that will help people like you and me enjoy Xbox live to the fullest extent.

(Q) - Android app to modify physical power button features

Hey guys,
Haven't been able to find this and it's been driving me slightly nuts. Is there any android app that allows you to change the options that come up when you hold your power button?
Right now my G2 only has power/air plane mode/silent mode.
I would like to change my button to have a few more options like restart/wireless/hotspot. I am NOT looking for a widget that gives these options. I'm also hoping I don't have to flash a new rom. If the app needs root that's fine becaue I use visionary.
Please let me know if you guys know of an option.
Thanks in advanced

Well. I'll try to bump one more time.

I'm also interested in this, I believe it would be a wonderful thing.

This really needs to be posted in a phone-specific forum rather than the general one as your answer will probably have hardware limitations. That being said, I doubt Android will allow something like that without a new ROM. IMO

[Q] Webroot Mobile Security?

What do you guys think of this app?
http://www.webroot.com/En_US/consumer-products-mobile-security-android-phone.html
It's most obvious features are malware protection (does this even exist for androids?) and virus protection (again...is this an issue for androids?)
But what intrigues me the most is that if my phone is lost, I can do audible locating, gps locatins, remote lockdown, or worst-case, remote wipe from another phone.
I know there are other free apps that offer the above tasks...I was using wheresmydroid before, but then had to supplement it with other apps to get all of these same features.
Anyway, I know it's an expensive app, but I'm not too concerned about the $15/year. But does anyone have any experience with this app? Does it do all that it says it does? Is there a better alternative available?
I dont know about that app....i use Lookout and I get all that, back up and phone location and such, too...it also scans apps you download to see if there "safe"....i haven't had any problems with it so far...theres a free version and a premium version

Thanks for the heads up. Didn't know they had an app.

good sniffing app

I need some help....
im looking for a sniffing app or keylogger app for android... isnt so esay to find some good apk´s. on windows its simple with refog, but it should even easy with android huh?
it should only monitor all about the chrome browser (first of all the inkognito pages), no facebook etc...
the first point is, is it possible without root? because my lg is 3 weeks old and i like to kept the warrenty.... and what is the best app for this job?
thanks :fingers-crossed:
nobody can help? ;(
I don't know a keylogger or a sniffer for android but I think that you'll be forced to root your device if you want to do something like that.
Interceptor-NG, Arpspoof, Droidsheep, Faceniff
Among them Interceptor-NG is in Gplay, rest all you need to Google.
Interceptor-NG is more useful if coupled with an MITM attack tool... wont go in the details... root is needed in all.
Dunno about keyloggers.
Be careful and hopefully you are not using them for any negative reasons.
Cheers.
Key logger for your own phone? Hmmm

ROMs for decommissioned phones?

All, I have tried the search function with no results. And I acknowledge that ROM-developers want to make something that will help support them financially. With that said, has there been any talk of creating a ROM for older phones that still use Wi Fi but are no longer on a mobile network? I guess it would be similar to tablet software at that point.
The value would be that much of the phonecall/network-specific stuff could be eliminated, freeing memory and space.
The reason I ask is that my children use my old phone (rooted HTC Thunderbolt) to watch Netflix, etc. And the phone is getting buggy.
Thoughts?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
If the phone is getting buggy you could try resetting it to factory settings but as for further development, I doubt there would be any. Old hardware will eventually be forgotten.
If you want a tablet -phone then delete any system app that is related to calls and messaging. The devs develop roms for the majority and you are probably the minority. Better try to build a Rom for your own special need. There are plenty of guides and tutorials on xda.

There's always issue with drivers for specific hardware. If all you need is web browsing then use Opera and Opera Mini.
Thanks for your help everyone. Good insights.
