[Q] Is there a custom sort for books? - Kindle Fire Themes and Apps

Hi everyone, I'm not personally a Kindle Fire owner but work for a university and part of a mobile device user group assisting staff and faculty with their devices. An instructor has a Kindle Fire and tons upon tons of books. She'd like to sort them by topic and other custom categories for easy navigation for her classes. Sorting by author or title isn't cutting it.
Is there a way or app that will allow this? If it requires another app, it should be simple and still be able to access the kindle book store if possible. Thanks for the help.

You should post this in the amazon forum... Everyone here would generally tell u to root it.
Try a file manager. Explorer will sort by size name type but not author. I mean the professor could just bookmark the books she wants to refer back to and use the bookmarks to access the specific books.

Request for Free EBOOKS for new ereader on LEO

Please anyone tell me are there any free ebooks for LEO available from borders
please rectify the post's title better, with a [REQ] at the beginning maybe
Anyway, google will help you a lot if you're looking for free ebooks (count of montecristo, three mosqueteers, and every "classic" is free).
The same google will help you finding freeware tools to convert among formats to make those ebooks compatible with the reader tab... there's nothing special "just for the hd2", really, the process is the same for every "open" device which is capable of ebook reading. Maybe closed devices like kindle need their own format, luckily not ours.

I'ìd like to help you, but I yet have to install the version 6 of ax*lor rom which has a reader tab. Anyway there's a thread in the themes&apps forum for hd2 regarding an apps that indexes your ebook for the tab, you may first off install that app, and see the file-extension needed to index ebooks. Look info for that file-extension on google and you know the format those ebooks must be in... probably plain txt is supported, I don't see why it shouldn't.
The books are in .epub format. There is one very good thread about it on here, and an re-indexing app.
here you have some

over 300,000 free titles, and they have the .epub format available for download

Ebooks are amazing. I think one of the most powerful weapons in the internet marketers' arsenal is the ebook. Your ebook format is in the right format to download.

Making a magazine application? Android

Hi there everyone!
I'm running a magazine just now. At the moment we have a hard copy and a pdf copy for users to read online. However, we were thinking about making things more interactive so decided to try out two new ideas.
The first we were looking at was to make the magazine interactive. So, instead of just reading the magazine, users could actually click on adverts or articles for more information and etc.
The second, we were hoping to develop some sort of app for the Android market. Where users can download and read the magazines content through their phone.
Was wondering if anyone could give any suggestions on how to go about either of these ideas? What type of programming tools would we have to use?
Kind regards
RT.

[Q] Need advice on developing a sheet music viewer.

Greetings to all XDA people. I am new to XDA, don't have the permission to ask at Android Software Dev. So, I will ask my question here.
I am reading Android books and trying out tools to develop apps on Android. No problem using the SDK and TextView, Grid, IMF, etc.
I am trying to develop a sheet music/score viewer. I am targeting API level 11 which is Honeycomb. So that musician can read sheet music with their 10.1" device. It should actually look like we are viewing a pdf. Vector base staff.
Before diving into implementation. I need design the structure first. The first question is, what file format should I use? Famous sheet music software like finale and overture, rosegarden, etc. Seems like they are all using their own format. Is there a open standard for storing staff or sheet music? Or should I go for MIDI (I don't think this is an appropriate format for viewing)? How about this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GUIDO_music_notation?
I won't go right the way for a generic staff viewer, instead I will develop specifically for drumming first, and let the viewer highlight the bar which you are playing with tempo which you specified. Such that you don't have to worry about turning page or putting all stuff into one staff page (A4).
Please give me advice on the file format, or if there is a framework doing something just like that, please tell me.

Comic Strip Viewer

Hey Guys,
One of my favorite apps was recently pulled from Google Play. I contacted the developer asking if I could modify some of the source code for my own personal use and he consented. The problem is I am in over my head and can't really figure out how to do what I want to do. I want to add in functionality that the app at one time had (so I'm sure the code is still in there somewhere just disabled.)
It is an app for viewing comic strips. Since I agreed not to distribute I am hoping there is ONE other person who would also like a comic strip viewer and would be willing to help me work on it so they could make use of it too.
If anyone is interested, I would really appreciate it, it would be a great learning experience for me as I am just now getting into coding/development. All I ask is that you do not distribute the app, post it anywhere online, etc and that you are patient enough to work with a beginner.
Thanks.
