Recover DELETED files from you sd card, even on your PC. ;) - General Topics

Hey guys I would just like to share this wonderful app because I'm so overjoyed with it! It recovers any file, I guess. I accidentally deleted the media folder in my SD Card, but I recovered ALL of my music. Just click the DEEP SCAN option to be sure. BTW, it even works on your PC's recycle bin.
It's free BTW. Here's the link: http://www.filehippo.com/download_recuva/

A very good program to have. I wish I had it a couple months ago when I accidentally deleted some videos.

will be keeping this tool on hand, the "accidental" delete happens a lot in my home

What also works which was made for linux but also works on windwos is photorec...
This will go through your SD card anything you have media stored on and pull deleted photos..
Good tool to run if you are sellin a used SD card and wanna make sure everything was formatted right... Best way is to either run a eraser program on it to go double kill.
Just copy 3 sets of games you have installed on your pc to your sd card max the sucker out and format it will get rid of everything.... lol..

good to have in the toolbox, and free!

very nice. I needed this a couple days ago, maybe I can still get those files back I have to see how it works..

That's the program ive used for a while now. Works every time. I have always managed to recover everything (within hours of deletion).
Question: Is there a program similar to that for Android phones/tablets

Thanks for the info! This can surely come in handy.

Thanks! This should be included with every computer, phone, or device with user controlled storage. But if this makes you paranoid about deleting stuff, just use cCleaner with the 7 pass option.. or 15 if you feel like spending 8 hours to delete 100mb's.

thank you!

I restored to stock using

then rooted it using super one click and then backing up my recovery file and using 3e recovery file...then downloaded rom manager and used that to install bionix rom but same issues I have had since getting my infuse...I will download apps and in the middle of them installing, my phone will reboot and delete random apps...I've unrooted and tried a couple times...so do I just have a bum device? I've moved the apps to phone memory also. They delete also when simply just rebooting my device. It seems over time that it becomes the same apps that delete while others will stay.
I have tried searching but couldn't come up with much. I am going to attempt to unroot and then try it all over again.
EDIT: Finished and it is still removing apps with every reboot...guess the phones going back.
....move problem apps to phone instead of sd.
Is it doing the samething under stock ? And have u tried installing from .apk instead of market?

I move them all right away to the phone memory and when I first got the phone I noticed it was doing it when it was stock also. I read somewhere about a certain number of phones having a problem with the LCD at the very bottom where it looked like txt rolling under old warped glass? It's not noticeable unless your looking for it...but if there was a bad batch of phones maybe this is related?

Here is a suggestion.
Put your phone into mass storage mode and copy/backup everything on your external sd card to your computer.
Unplug usb go to settings>applications>development and disable USB debugging, then plug in USB cable from computer, and select mass storage mode.
Then open "computer or my computer" on your pc and find your external sd card drive icon.
Right click mouse on the icon and select "format"
(be 100% sure that the drive you are formatting is your external sdcard)
After you are sure of that, uncheck the box which says "quick format" leave all other options alone and start the format, when its done formatting
copy all the files you backed up to your external sd card and I am almost certain that after doing this you will have no problems with your external sdcard.
Good luck!

OK so by my name you can see where I came from. I started with the atrix and it sucked , very unhappy with that phone. Went back into my iPhone 4. Then tried the HTC inspire, crashed non stop , very dissapointing. Nothing seemed to measure up and facetime was something I missed big time. Back to my iPhone those phones lasted 4 weeks combined. I have been in this phone for 3 weeks and while I look for.things I was use too some, its overall a better phone for me than iPhone. Like the SMS apps, customization better, the screen being bigger is a huge one. The 8 MPH camera is awesome. Used a pic I took for my website and it looks great. Multiple launchers to give you the feel you want. I get some force closes , but my ios did too. I was jailbroken so I could use my phone to the fullest.
The speed of this phone is great and I am sold on android after this. That's just my thoughts I would say u have a bad unit and give it another shot. I will get the galaxy s2 when it arrives. If the iPhone 5 isnt 4.2" I wont even sniff it, unless there is chocolate on it.

FPse emulator

Does anyone know how to back up the FPse emulator data? I had to restore my phone to a previous date and couldn't back my emulator data up. I lost a month and a halves worth of work from my ff7 game. I was pretty pissed when I found out everything was erased! So is there a way to back up the emulator data to prevent this in the future if I ever need to restore again?
Also, the games save have nothing with the actual games. They save somewhere else. I think it has something to do with the emulator itself.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Have you tried to backup the data by any means? Try Titanium Backup.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I'm rooted and running CM7. I have clockworkmod recovery too. Making a back up of my phone is not an issue. I need to back up the emulator itself in its current state.
I have tried copying the emulator itself to my sdcard and still no luck. Which I thought would have solved the issue, but that wasn't the case. So I was thinking maybe there is data from the emulator somewhere on my phone I could back up.(no idea where/how to or I wouldn't be asking!)
I had to restore to a previous back up because I downloaded something and my phone stared getting all wacky. Then a week down the line, the app market wouldn't work. Facebook app and on the browser were blocked. Only on my phone. I tried on a friends phone, and i had no problem signing in.
Just in case something like this happens again, or if ever needed for any reason; I don't want to have to restore and lose a hella game time time.

No, a full backup takes five minutes, I was meaning to say that you should make a schedule for it to do that, though I am not sure if you can specify only one app for it to update, but I've also never tried it either.
Edit: ok, just checked can't do it for only one app,.but I reccomend using it to back up your apps and data anyhow. If you're on GB and staying there you can also backup system data.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yeah I'm on GB and staying. I've thought about switching to ICS but heard there are lots of kinks that need to be worked out. Maybe ill try it sometime in the future, when a stable version is released.
Up until now, backing up the system data was done on my Linux box. I just use CWM to make a back up, then store the back up on my Linux box. Titanium will make it that much easier.
I'm gonna check titanium out tonight. Thanks again man!

Anyone know how to transfer save-states or memory card data to a pc (to use with ePSXe)?

Well, it would either save on the SD card or with the app data. Try googling it, I hae a hunch someone has asked the exact same question before, maybe not on XDA's G2x forum, per se, but somewhere.
Warlock, nvm I misread your post. But I have tried the titanium app and its pretty cool. Now all I have to do now is restore my phone and figure out how to restore the data
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Ok, I figured it out. I couldn't find them because they are hidden. You need root explorer to access them.
The memory cards on the phone is located at:
data\data\com.emulator.fpse\files\memcards
-copy 'slot1.mcd' to the PC.
-rename it to 'epsxe000.mcr' and put it in the memcards folder in epsxe
-and to get it back to the phone, do the opposite, name it back to 'slot1.mcd' and put it in the folder it came from.
Despite the different extensions, both the android and windows emulators will read the memory cards fine, as long as the name is right.
Cool, so you could play on your PC, save, slap it on your SD card and play on your phone. Maybe it's time I dust off one of my Resident Evil discs. STARS!
Warlock, I tried doing the dame thing. That is essentially backing up the emulator data. So if I ever lost my emulator data I would never lose the spot in the game I am at. I have seen in a bunch of different places that the data would be in the data folder. Oddly, my data folder is empty and has always been empty. Should it be? I even changed the file path of the memory card on my emulator to save to my sdcard. I took a look at it after a save point in FF7 and it was 0kb big.....empty. or was it?

Yeah, that was the problem I was having initially. I gather that you can't see anything inside the 'data' folder with a regular file explorer, you have to use the 'root explorer' app. (I assume your phone has to be rooted to use this).
I'll also add a handy shortcut within Root Explorer. You can bookmark folders, so its really easy to jump to the memcards folder and back to where you want to back them up to. Just long press on the folder you want to bookmark.
Yeah I'm using the regular file manager that came with CM7. I feel really dumb for not thinking about this before. I am rooted so all I had to do was open a terminal and navigate to the data folder lol its not as easy on the eye as a GUI would be but I still don't know why I didn't think of this earlier?! Anywho, ill check out the root explorer app you have suggested. Thanks for the file path to the game data too!

Is there a way that you are able to recover deleted pictures from our phone when it is connected via USB to a computer?
Sent from my MB865 using XDA
No. sadly, if you deleted pics through your phone they're gone for good. Pics are the one thing that is automatically saved to the sd card. If you have any pics (from the camera) you can find them on your sd card in a folder called "DCIM". Use ES file explorer or your computer to find the folder.

Dropbox is great for this...I'm experimenting with Google+ right now. With what I'm taking pictures of these days, the worst that happens is everyone sees a "problem area" of my hotel that I'm getting maintenance or housekeeping to work on. So far, it's keeping everything private and I'm not having any issues with upload.

This is because "deleting" something on an sd card just marks it ok to over-right, but does not break the actual logic gates in the card. this means the data is still there, until something else is put in it's place.

Does CleanROM and TWRP folders need to be in the phone hard drive?

These folders alone take up over 2gb of the 10 available. Cleanrom holds a few folders and cleanmods zip. Twrp holds 1 backup and preboot animations.
Can I just throw them on my comp or dropbox? Or do they need to stay in the HOX hard drive?

Actual you can. One way is to go to manage apps then select an app. There you will see a move to sdcard option. The easiest way by far though is to use this handy little app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidsail.dsapp2sd&hl=en
You can also use it to set the SDcard as the default save location. Some apps won't play nice if installed to SD though. Meaning they take forever to load and there widgets won't work. Why you would need to do this with a phone that has 2gigs of storage is sorta beyond me. The OP must have a metric crap ton of apps. lol

It is indeed moving them to the internal SD. Nice catch. I honestly never bothered to look at it. Just assumed SD was the external. Well you know what they say about assuming. Thanks for the catch.

So yes, as the title suggests, I want to move my default app install location to my MicroSD card. I've seen lots of tutorials on how to move the default install place to the internal SD card, but nothing has said how to move them to the MicroSD. Thanks for your help in advance!

The best help I can manage is a suggestion to avoid this. There is a good reason it wasn't implemented, more than one. Unless you like your apps to dramatically slow down loading times and disappear on boot, that is.

Yes, I did a bit further research and found a way, but it required making your phone think that the external SD was your internal SD, and I just thought that might be too much. Now that you say that it makes it slower, I'm going to abandon the project entirely. I have enough space on my internal SD to store my apps, and I can live with only storing media on my external. Thanks everyone!

The OP must have a metric crap ton of apps. lol

I don't so much have a metric ton of apps, rather a metric ton of spare kernels, nandroids, and rom updates.
