SD Card - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I got a SD card for my zoom, but it won't show up, does it need to be formatted a certain way and with root explorer what folder do I look under? I know on my phone it is under external SD. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

Just a question. Are you looking at the sdcard OR sdcard_external sdcard in your file explorer???

sd card. in linda file manager
Reformat it. Either it is messed up and there is unused space not accounted for, or it is a bogus card and not really 16gb (many China cards are fakes).
What you are seeing is the internal SD card that came with the phone, it's non removable and show up as SD. The 16gb card you put in is listed as external like mhsamma said.

formatting SD card question

I am wanting to format the SD card but do not know if I need to save some file and restore after formatting. I know i will loose my pics but what else do i need to save for my phone to work properly after formatting if anything
You don't need to replace any files for it to work. The phone will create the files/folders on its own. Anything you want to save such as pics, music, backups, etc. can be copied to computer and then back to SD card after formatting.

Sd card

Why does my sd card have android system in it. Is it better for the phone ,. And is there.a way to just have it for pics, movies and other things I want in it,

You mean the android folder inside the root of your sd card??? Nope, those aren't system files, they're certain apps moved/installed to the sd card to save internal memory... android system is located at the /system partition of your phone's internal memory (NAND)

Oh ok, I thought it took up space.

SD card?

I just received my 32gb SD card today and placed it into my GS3. In looking at my file explorer app I noticed I have an 'sdcard' and an 'extmount' or something like that. So, how did I have an sdcard from folder w/o previously having an sdcard installed? Also, do I need to do anything to get that info off my device? I'm not rooted if that helps.
Thanks!

SD card is your internal memory. Ext-sd card is your external micro SD card. Different phones and different roms have their own ways of labeling these. It's normal and correct.

(Q) File Transfer Went Arry

So my brother had a few thousand songs on his external sd card and I wanted them. So I pulled his sd and put it in my notes, and used root explorer to copy and paste the songs. Now when I put the sd card back he has less than 100 songs (through power amp) and root explorer doesn't even show an ext sd card.
So I moved on to ES file explorer and I'm still unable to access ext sd card.
So my question is did I accidently dismount his sd card? Through system memory I can see that there is an ext sd but it looks like nothing is on it?
