Hi guys, I am having too many problems with CM9, and I want to revert, I'll just wait for OTA ics. Can someone guide me in how to revert? I want stock gingerbread, the one that came with the phone, no custom roms. I've got a 9020A.
Thanks for the help.

How can I remove this cap without flashing a rom?
I love the phone the way it is and want all of the OTA updates.
Can I safely remove the cap? if so can anyone tell me how or provide a link?

Just flashing the radio will fix this? Is there anything else it will do?
I am trying to keep as stock as possible. I love the stock rom. Will this prevent future OTA updates?

I love the speed, I love the fact that things just work.

no, it will start to smoke and emit huge sparks that will get into your eyes, rendering your g2x useless to you,so i'll take it.

Yes, but not with Superoneclick as it doesn't work with the update from LG. Assuming you have Clockwork Mod Recovery through NVflash, (great instructions http://www.techofweb.com/technology/flashing-cwm-recovery-g2x.html , simply flash a pre-rooted version of this update from xboarder54 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179748
1 click nvflash app to install clock work .
download rooted 2.33 rom or nandriod backup and flash
in clock work.
works fine..

trying to restore LG-P999-V10f/--i get--MD5 mismatch while trying to unroot. I already restored to a nandroid running 2.2 can I just run the LG update or must I unroot in order to update baseband? Will I be able to unroot if I update using LG (I have DW model). Help please.
Funny thing is I have been with Android since the G1. I have yet to root any of my android phones. I know, I'm a noob. I'm trying to learn how to root my G2x recently but want to make sure I find something solid so my phone will work 100% or close to that. Now that we have GB, I would assume the devs are updating their ROMs so I'm reading up to see what's the new or hot ROM for the G2x. If anyone can point me in the right direction or have some time to school this noob - I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Hey guys
My Nexus S is currently flashed with [CM7.1.0.1-N229] -=Nexus MV 10.19B=- |Fast&Stable|Ezekeel's Mod|Matr1x 9.0|
With the announcement by Google advising that all Nexus S devices will receive the ICS update, is there anything I need to do to my phone to receive this firmware update?
Do I need to restore back to default ROM etc, or can I leave as is?
Thanks for your help
Quentin
You won't receive the OTA, you need to be running stock for that.
Changes are that once the source is released someone will create an AOSP ROM faster than the OTA will reach you, so you could just flash that?
Greetz
don't worry
CM7 and other group will have ICS based-on ROM
so , only thing you may worry is how long you gonna wait
beside , you always can flash ICS stock ROM if you don't wanna wait anymore , don't you think ?
anyone have any idea on when the ICS update will come to NS4G?

what if my phone is rooted then i have backup of my stock rom. does my stock rom receives ota update? what do you think so?
You should receive an OTA if you restore the stock image and one is available.
Would you need the stock recovery if you do receive the ota?

Rooting is required to Install ICS..?
Hi.
Can I install ICS without rooting my phone...? My phone is unlocked...
Thanks
You will NOT receive an OTA update unless you're running Android on a stock unrooted device. The only way you will run Ice Cream Sandwich is if you find an ICS ROM but most of them are in alpha stages, meaning not suitable for daily use.

Unlikely. Most OTAs do not do an assert on recovery and flash without any issue with CWM. If you've modified anything it does assert though it will fail.

It won't install though so you still won't be able to OTA ICS.

Why wouldn't it? Every other OTA has had no problem installing through CWM on a rooted stock system. Unless this OTA decides to assert recovery for some reason (the only reason it would fail as it would then be trying to patch recovery).
Currently running miui with matrix kernel and I'm looking into flashing a stock gingerbread ROM to receive ics when it is released. I've flashed customs ROMs before but have never gone back to stock. How do I go about doing this? Will I need to reroot my phone? And will I be able to flash a kernel on the stock ROM? Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. Someone kind will post it here in a zip file soon after release i would imagine!

sorry for abusing you thread, mokflurry, but i also have a question regarding requirements for the upcoming ota-update.
i am running stock rom, rooted, with cwm and custom kernel.
regarding the recovery, i already read, that this shouldn't be a problem. can anybody confirm that?
and what about the kernel? will i have to return to complete stock for ota?
thanks in advance!

You can be rooted with another recovery, But need stock rom and kernel.
Until and unless you believe that you will be the first one to get the OTA, you need not worry about the OTA. It will be up on XDA as soon as OTA is rolled and you be flashing it even before the OTA is actually is pushed to you
I saw official ICS on i9020T only, can we have that also with our i9023? I want that tasty ice cream sandwhich

It will be released in waves. If you want to upgrade from within Gingerbread, then you just have to wait. Otherwise flash the OTA file (but beware, the recovery doesn't work atm on i9023 devices).
no just that because the OTA is being released since yesterday and this, during one month
So not all nexus S will be prompted to update immediately, you have to wait if you want to make an OTA update, or flash directly the .zip you can find on many threads now on xda.
this file is the official update, just a .zip, that can allow you to have it immediately if a flash dont fear you.
If you had read a bit, i'm sure you would have found all these informations by yourself..

How? Lots of people with 9023 are reporting broken recovery or even bricks!
All 9023s have broken (or SAmoled) recoveries which gives you only blind stock recovery.
Following the instructions in the thread mentioned gives you a working recovery (and also permaroot fwiw)
i9023 error while searching for networks
Hi,
I updated to ICS 4.0.3 in i9023 Nexus S. Everything is fine but it is not able to find the mobile networks.
On 'Search for Networks' it is giving "Error while searching for networks".
Can someone help me solving this or reverting back to Gingerbread?
Thanks!!!
