LED lights up green when at 99% charged? - HTC Sensation

I've been watching my phone charge up to 100% and the LED would light up green like it should, but then a minute later it would drop to 99% and still stay green and it looks like it stops charging (normally you see the battery icon charging up)...so i unplug the USB and plug it back and the LED goes orange and starts to charge back up to 100% any ideas...
Ive done the battery calibration procedure with the batt calib app. after flashing Elegencia GB

can't believe it...is this a huge deal?

well tonight i'll try too and see if i get that

My green light turns on at 99% while charging
What a thread . Lol

If you leave it long enough it will switch between 99% and 100% just depends what you are doing on the phone. You may be doing something that takes slightly more power than charge from a usb port can give. Remeber charging from the usb is not the same as charging from the wall socket.
It is a reduced charge and doesn't last as long as charging from the mains.

When Nexus S is off why do I see a white battery with "!" symbol?

Hi all, I'm not talking about the recovery triangle with the exclamation point, but when charging the S in my car, I noticed that the battery icon in the notification tray would charge for a few minutes, then stop charging and the battery icon would just go static at 75%.
So I turned off the phone, and was then presented with a black background and white battery icon, with a flashing exclamation point.
I unplugged, and plugged back in, and the battery started indicating it was charging via ascending white stripes, But then it stopped and changed to an exclamation point again.
The battery was only 50-75% full.
Could it have been overheating in my windscreen (I'm in LA)? Or is there some other issue with the charger. What does the ! mean?
Is your battery original? Maybe your charger is not supported. Not sure about this. Can you take a screenshot?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I think that your car charger doesn't deliver enough power to charge the Nexus S battery. Some smartphones are draining more power then they are becoming from the charge unit when connected to the car.

This does not explain the error when charging with phone off.
I would exchange the phone under warranty if possible.

It's never a good idea to leave a phone, or any electronics, in a hot car during the summer. The combination of a hot car and heating up the battery while charging could be bringing the phone's temperature too high. It could be the charger isn't wired up for the standard micro usb charging. I've seen this with lg chargers and phones and data cables. It could be a bad flash.
If it can fully charge inside on an ac charger, then I might suspect the charger in the car. If it acts the same with a different car charger then it could be the phone. Try a 12vdc usb female charger with a data cable plugged into the phone. Try flashing the phone back completely to stock and do more process of elimination.
Thanks.
This is a brand new phone with original battery, stock ROM, not even rooted.
The charger worked fine always on its previous owner, a Nexus One. It is hard wired into my car so not easy to change.
I wonder if the Nexus S has overhead protection that stops charging?
A screenshot is quite a challenge ;-)

43 degrees Celsius is the trigger point where it starts/stops taking a charge because of heat.
Heat
Its a samsung battery protection system the same system that wont let u over charge the battery once the battery gets too hot it will go in to this protected mode wit the exclamation mark
had it on both my samsung vibrant and the nexus s 4g

Hi,
It can take that long sometimes.
For me its all the time . After 50% charging takes forever
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
If I completely discharge my phone, it usually takes anywhere between 4 and 5 hours to charge it back up to 100%. This is assuming that I do not use the phone as it is charging.
Same on my Sensation. But I´ve heard from People, they charge in about 2-2.5h...
Its crazy somehow
The fastest method is to turn off phone and charge it. But it also depend from charger to charger. For example I had a faulty usb cable and phone never did charge while powered on. I discovered faulty cable with "CurrentWidget". It displays in mA current charging. It was always drawing power from phone. After changing cable it was charging.
Conclusion is higher mA the charging is faster...
What blue-yu said, to a point.
The wall charger that came with my phone is faster than using the usb cable.
Also, powering down the phone so its doing as little as possible while its charging will help.

Yes. A USB port on a computer is limited to 500ma. The wall charger can output 1000ma (double the USB).
Phil
I have noticed with generic charges, it can take between 3-5 hours as well. With a OEM HTC charger, it usually takes me about 2 hours from 10% to 100%.
I have found on market 2000 mA charger. Since HTC recommend max 1000 mA, is it safe to try the oem charger?
I use wall charger original what comes in sensation box. On pc battery monitor says i need 8 hour charge . Starting to think something is wrong. Before i was desire s and that charging from 10-100% in like max 2 hours
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
Official chargers connect the 2 data pins together to let the phone know it is connected to ac so it draws the full 1000ma if data pins are not shorted the phone will think its connected to USB and only draw 500ma
Use a battery app to check if your charger is registering as ac and drawing the full amount
"Battery mix" is an example of an app that will tell you
the aftermarket battery (chichitec) that i'm using has been chargign up considerably faster than the stock one. it also provides a lot more usage time.
On my mains 550ma SE microusb charger it takes me approx 3hrs from 0-100% , or 4hrs from notebook usb, according to battery monitor widget pro.
John.
I usually charge my phone to full after it drops below 30%.
It always takes my Sensation 2.5 hours via wall charger.
It seems the battery charging time as well as boot up time has something to do with the recovery you use.
With Clockwork mod recovery, my bootime was 7-8 minutes (I tried clearing cache partition and all, with fast boot disabled) and battery charging use to take 5 hours.
Since two days, I have installed default recovery and now my boot time is about 1 minute, and charging time is around 2-3 hours. This time also, i have fast boot disabled and cleared cache partition after installing the recovery.
Can anybody else do this experiment and let us know the result here?
Dunno about recovery and bootup. Bootup for me is about 25-35 sec from cold boot, 4ext touch recovery. I will try that ap from amrket and i will see if there is something

My Inspire won't charge anymore

Today my inspire stopped charging. It shows the charging indicator but battery doesn't get any charge, it keeps draining instead..
It is not the wall charger because I connected it to the PC and the same thing..

Are the three stock batteries. If you can, try the stock battery in another cell.
Sent from a dream.
My Inspire does nor charge from pc or wall charger with a data capable cable if I leave all the radios on. In airplane mode it will or if I use a cable that has data disabled. When in usb charge mode, the phone will charge at 500 mA max, which may not be enough to power the phone and charge the battery .

I know for a fact that the USB cable is the problem because I used a WD MyPassport cable to charge my phone and it worked fine, but the original cable was showing all signs of charging when it was actually discharging it

Very true about the usb cable, also I've learned that sometimes the contacts inside of the charging port become very dirty and if you have a brush small enough you could potentially resolve the issue of it not charging....then there's also the problem with it possibly being the battery, my mother, sister, and fiancee all have or had issues with the batteries and had 2 of them replaced.

long charging time

Hi, i know this subject is already exists in here, but it still have no answer. My sensation need 6 - 8 hours to fully charge from 10% to 100%, is there someone can help me to solved my problem?
This happen everyday, so don't ask me to remove the battery and try again because i've tried it.
Are you charging your mobile via a charger connected to a power outlet or are you charging via usb connected to a pc? How old is your battery?
it is a common HTC's issue after rooting the device
everyone has percentage mireadings while charging the device

Has it always been like that or started happening? When mine started doing that I replaced my battery, charging times went back to normal and battery life was a lot better also.
It happens to me with my original battery which I think is dead because it lasts not much time. Buy on my anker battery it charges really fast, with the same charger. So the problem is your battery I think, as on mine

What rom are you using. Sometimes my sense 5 rom misreads ac for usb and charges damn slowly.
Happy to help.
If your charging via usb connected to pc then charging will be half day, its because usb port is for data sending and not charging, so USB outputs very low volt charge and so device like phone charges so slow
If your charging with adapter into AC outlet, you could check if your using right cable(there are data cables where there are little wires inside so again it cannot output that power to the device and there is cables for data+charge with bigger cables inside)
P.S. Stock HTC cable provided is not the best wire....
Mine sensation is charging about 2h40min from discharge(10% - 6%) to full charge(100%)

The thing you need to look out is your output current. Recommended output is 5V 1A, it will still charge if you go higher like 1.5A or even 2.1A. Otherwise, it would not charge just like your situation. Hope it helps.
