[Q] Titanium Backup and Rogers to AT&T - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hello,
I have been working on an optimized version of the new 2.3.6 from AT&T. I am coming from boneSTOCKeteer which runs off of the Rogers stock base.
When restoring user apps only with Titanium Backup it constantly freezes and never completes. Could this somehow be related to the fact I was on a Rogers rom and now am on an AT&T base? Do user apps change their stored data based upon the ROM or something? How do other people use TIBU when going between ROMs? I am currently restoring from nandroid and I am going to see if TIBU completes successfully back on a stock bonestock.
Thanks
Update:
Apparently it does not matter, it continues to freeze even when I am back on boneSTOCKeteer.

Foryo - backup data

When I flashed to the stock Froyo ROM, I saw that Froyo can backup your apps/settings so the can be restored to a new phone.
When I tried to search how this works, I keep seeing that the setting for that is in the "Privacy' settings but I don't see it there.
Does anyone know how this works for the Captivate?

Titanium backup won't restore apps. Won't even restore new backups!

I'm having some trouble restoring backups. I recently reflashed my phone. All backups were verified. I have used the help button and redownloaded busybox. I have rooted my phone and given root privileges to TiB. I have usb debugging mode enabled too. When I batch restore, the batch completes as if there wasn't a problem, but none of the apps are installed. I thought that there might be something wrong with the backups even though they passed verification so I moved them off of the sd card. I downloaded some random apps from the market and backed them up. They won't restore either. Same error. I tried restoring my phone to stock and going through the same steps and I have the same problem. I've used TiB for awhile now and haven't had any problems up until now. Does anyone have any ideas?
happened to me once.
reinstall from the matket of TIBU fixxed everything.
The first debloat guide posted for the captivate falsely stated that TiB restored the app
When I was attempting to revert to stock firmware for the recent OTA I discovered that TiB only saves the app's state and not the app itself
I think all of the original APKs are listed on the cognition download page
I got it fixed. I tried reinstalling TiB from the market. It didn't work. I was trying 3rd party apps. Not ones cooked into the rom. I ended up having to do a master clear with odin. It's kind of a brute force method, but at least its working again.

Back when the pimp my captivate was written, TB was not able to restore what it backed up. It does now. I reverted back to stock after the OTA update and since I was in the "try to break my phone mood" I went ahead and did the Cognition 2.1.6. Right before I started messing with the phone, I backed up everything and anything that TB would allow me to, did a nandroid as well. WHen the time to restore came, everything I had before is right back where it was before I started. Albeit reading all the oops, TB can't restore jack, yadda yadda I wasn't too worried.
I have the same problem. I recently flashed to froyo 2.2 and the TiB won't let me do the restore...I tried to redone the OneClick Rom but It didn't work on 2.2 so I still need help here.

TiBu has issues trying to restore apps going from 2.1 to 2.2.

As far as I know, u can restore apps within the same "version", not between versions. You can restore the apps, but data can't be guaranteed.

Problems going back to stock after flashing rom

Ok so I'm a newbie for the most part when it comes to rooting and such. Yesterday I rooted my Captivate and flashed Serendipity 6.2 to it. Unfortunately it could not receive calls for some reason so I decided to run titanium backup and use odin to master clear back to factory stock. This worked except now that i've re-rooted the phone, titanium backup isn't showing up in the applications. It says its been downloaded in the market and I can even see it in the applications list under setting, applications, manage applications. But it isnt in the app drawer. What did I do wrong/how can fix this and get my phone back to the rooted but otherwise stock (running the ATT released 2.2.1) that is was yesterday?

[Q] Recently flashed 2.3.3

Hey, I recently flashed my galaxy S to 2.3.3
It works fine but half the apps on my phone are force closing before they even open
like market, encounters an error
Do i need to restore?
thank you
Aaron
That is what happened to me. If you used Titanium backup. Redo the flashing of the rom. And only restore missing apps and not all the system data. I think restoring all system data from a previous rom onto 2.3.3 isnt compatible.

[Q] After flashing ROM is it safe to restore everything using Titanium/MyBackup?

Hi all.
Sorry for a noob question.
I wonder about the correct restore procedure after flashing new ROMs...
Is it safe to restore everything (thinking of apps+data, system settings, desktop etc) using either Titanium or MyBackup? Or are there some burried negatives which should be paid attention to?
Thx.
If you're flashing a different ROM than before then you probably shouldn't recover the system data, just apps and user data
You. Will. Obey. XDA Premium
Better restore just apps, NOT data, these can make you get AOS Bug..
OK, but what about for example setting up the desktop?
Setting up the desktop takes time every time you flash a new ROM. Is there a workaround...?

I never heard of AOS bug (might be a device-specific one & not related to the devices I have), but what would be the point of backing up your data if there was no way to restore it? It is perfectly OK to restore your apps and their data. It's also OK to restore system data if you're not switching ROMs.
I personally never had any problems migrating my apps + data back and forth between Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs.
After flashing between multiple ROMs yesterday, restoring all app+data, I never noticed any problems. Any search I do for an AOS bug comes back showing it caused by 2.3.3 or 2.3.4. So I imagine that if you're flashing ROMs and restoring on Froyo or below you won't have an issue.

All right then... I will go with that it is safe to restore - at least if not switching ROMs... I think it will end up with some testing
Thx
