Bootloop Help - HTC Sensation

Hiya
I've been stuck on boot loop for the past few hours, it all started when I installed the new firmware that is recommended for VI3.5. Since then I can only get to the HTC Logo and sometimes the beginning of the VI logo.
I've tried superwiping, installing rom again, nandroid restoring everything.
Can anyone give me a suggestion on what to try next? Thanks.

Flash firmware again. Note that it reboots the phone in the middle of the process before flashing some more components. Once this is done, delete PG58IMG.zip from your SD card and flash your ROM.

Okay I will try this when I get back from uni. Thanks

As it was mentioned above - reflash the firmware.
I had the same issue with this ROM, and it helped.

Without the proper firmware to match the ROM, it will never boot up. Most ROMS state with firmware is needed, so check the ROM page.

Okay I got home and redownloaded the firmware from here:
http://www.virtuousrom.com/p/inquisition.html
Put the file on root of memory card and the phone picked it up and went through the process. Installed 3.5.0 and it still gets to the htc logo then reboots.

check the md5 of both rom and firmware before flashing--twice!

The md5 of the firmware was correct, I checked that before flashing it. Dunno about rom though. ROM matches too :/ Any other ideas?
Is there a previous firmware i could try that would work with this rom?

try 3.30 i run it at hypernonsense arhd and it worked so far.

Should it matter which 3.3.0 firmware i install? There are various ones. I had CID before but dunno whether it would have disabled it.

Okay I checked SuperCID with adb and i definitely still have it. I tried flashing the HTC_version1 3.3.0 firmware and the hypernonsense rom, i get to the same stage - htc logo and a tiny bit of the hypernonsense logo.

I finally got it working! After trying almost everything I went back to a early firmware and it came to life.
Apparently I'm not the only one with this issue.
Thanks a ton for all the help though.

I had the same issue! I have never had any luck - period - with firmwares posted in individual ROM threads. They always boot-loop. The only ones that work for my device are the ones posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Very strange...

Lol i also have the same problem. The only fw that works the 3.12 hboot 1.23 one. Havent tried the 3.30 one yet. Do you experience wifi problems by any chance? I had them and it started becoming unbearable after a week, had to go back to gingerbread in the end

I would venture that some elements from an older RUU aren't touched by the new image being flashed. This conflict would cause boot loops I imagine.

[Q] Firmware install error

Im trying to install the latest version of ICS and i have tried several times to update the firmware from here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432220) I put on the sd card, turn off phone, volume down and power... it begins to update and says, model id incorrect update fail, press power to reboot.
I had alrdy installed it once from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618) I did the 3.06. But when i first tried the latest ICS rom with that it got stuck in HTC boot loop.
I am s-off with HBOOT-1.20.0000
Anyway what can i do to resolve this issue? Ive never had any problems until now. I have tried searching for this but not much luck. I hate to of posted this but didnt know what else to do. Figured all the geniuses here could prob help me in a split second vs the hrs ive tried to figure it out on my own.

Sounds like you need to SuperCID
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Follow Step 4
Thanks for the help, ill try it out! If only i had admin rights on my work pc i could do it now! Anyway around that?? lol
However if ive been installing custom roms etc and been able to update to the 3.06 firmware by putting the PG58IMG.zip on the sd card and it worked fine. Wouldnt i of alrdy been supercid? How could the phone of reverted back to non supercid?
Just wanting to be sure i understand correctly. Im currently running ARHD 3.6.11.

Hi,
You are trying to flash the wrong firmware.
You need the 3.12 firmware .(just below the 3.06 firmware on the thread page)
This will give you an hboot 1.23 so that you can flash a 6.x.x ROM.
Well thats y i am confused... i had alrdy installed the 3.06 firmware (figd meant i was supercid) and had attempted to do the 3.12 (from the same thread) but its giving me the update error. I just tried it again and exact same thing happens. I believe it is an 18mb firmware file just to be sure its correct?
So far in all my searches i havent read where anyone has had this issue so thats y im confused as to y it wont work!

[Q] Completely Boned - Solved: Was not SuperCID

So I can't figure out how to fix this, and have a completely useless phone at the moment, unfortunately.
I wanted to install Virtuous Inquisition. I was coming from ARHD 4.1.10 Gingerbread. This is the process I followed:
1. Downloaded Firmware and ROM from website.
2. Loaded both onto SDCard
3. Rebooted into recovery, PG58IMG did it's work.
4. Formatted / Wiped all Data
5. Installed Virtuous Inquisition
At this point I was thrown into a continuous boot loop. Read up on the forums, apparently Virtuous is only tested for CWM.
Tried installing CWM - downloaded the zip, renamed it PG58IMG.zip, tossed it onto the phone, gets stuck at "Parsing," and fails.
Tried reinstalling firmware again - Creates error "Wrong CID"
Tried installing CWM from the 1st post of the Sensation Rooting Thread, said "Wrong Version."
Completely confused as to how to fix my phone now.
Please, PLEASE help.
Thanks XDA.
Delete all pg58img.zip from SD card, try to reboot and post result.
Leaving the firmware zip in SD root after update causes boot loops.

Unfortunately I still get the boot loops -
I get the Virtuous Boot Animation, then it just kills itself.
OK does fastboot work?

Try the virtuous 2.23 thread. It's a 2.3.4 Rom but it comes with its own firmware. See if that boots up before trying anything else.

Unfortunately I'm rather unfamiliar with this term - if you mean can I get into the bootloader, yes, and I can get into 4EXT.
I vaguely remember when rooting my phone that I had to connect it to the computer to do some adb things, but have not tried / done that since.
Currently I have a spare SDCard, and am trying the entire process over real quick, then going to try TC's idea.
Update: Loading the Firmware again still gave me the "CID Incorrect!" error in the bootloader.
Update 2:

First and foremost, did you do a nandroid backup before you did any of this? If so just revert back.
Next, in step 3, you said you booted into recovery to flash the PG58IMG. You plain can't do that. All firmware updates are done through the bootloader not recovery.
And you also mentioned, wrong CID. Do you recall ever doing a superCID on your phone? If not, read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 to get the correct firmware. IF you go there for the firmware (I suggest 3.24), you do not need superCID on your phone.
GL
Sorry, wrong wording, I did originally do the PG58IMG through Bootloader.
Quite, *quite* stupidly, I only did a Titanium backup, not a nandroid backup.
I have not done SuperCID on my phone.
Working on multiple options you guys have posted at the moment, y'all type too fast for my SDCard switching speeds!
As a side question at the moment, the Virtuous website mentioned that it has only tested through CWM. I was under the impression that 4EXT, while a different interface, behaved and functioned no differently than CWM. I may be wrong on this, but either way, I cannot get CWM to take control. It won't flash in the bootloader (gets stuck at "Parsing") and installing a Zip of it through 4EXT opens it, but does not make it the primary Recovery method
Update: The T-Mobile specific firmware is successfully installing at the moment. Will remind self to SuperCID ASAP :/
While talking earlier about nandroid backups, I was curious - I thought nandroid only backed up certain things, IE: Not the firmware. Am I incorrect?
Update 2: The Virtuous Boot animation has gotten far enough for the V to begin pulsing. It has never gotten this far. I think it may actually be going through the "initial" boot up sequence. May take a few minutes.

I use 4ext for my recovery and works just as well. Just use the firmware in that thread I mentioned. That thread is a great one to read up on. Especially for people who are new to CID terminologies.

The only thing Nandroids do not back up are radios, SD stuff, kernels, firmware and RIL files. The RIL and Radio's are bundled in the rom itself. So essentially the nandroid backs up the ROM itself. Hope that makes sense.
Hope its working now? My thought was the problem was firmware you flashed originally not supported by your CID = boot loop.
SupwrCID def recommended!

Correct, you were on the right track. I have not done SuperCID, so when I installed the Firmware straight from Virtuous, it wasn't T-Mo specific.

boot loop after flashing new ROM

Hi all,
I've searched many forums for a solution to my problem but to no avail
I have flashed many roms before hand without a problem (last one installed was OnceICS 1.0.4) and as i have installed the latest release of this rom ( OnceICS 1.1.1) i was given a boot loop after.
I tried multiple roms after this such as android revolution hd and insert coin as well. all of which leave me with a boot loop.
Any solutions to this problem will be greatly appreciated
try taking out your sd card from your phone then flash again. if that dont work try reformatting sd card in recovery. that always works for me when i get boot loop.
cheers mate, ill give that one a try. i'll let you know how i go.
ok well that didn't seem to work any other solutions anyone?
Did you put the new firmware on?
not sure what you mean by that mate :S would that be usually a file named PG58IMG.zip per chance?
Yep, put it on your sd card, boot into bootloader and let it do its job, then remove the file from the sd card

Install the latest 3.32 firmware.
Or if you have Super CID you can use this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
if i do try the first method there, what one would i be looking for? there is quite a few ones there to choose from on the 3.32 :S
YAY!! fixed it, just did a firmware update and all went well, thank you all for you help. Greatly appreciated
You need to get the app from the store (CID Getter) to get your MID/CID number, then match it up to the right one.
Yup, make sure you get the firmware with the right CID number or you're in for a world of hurt.

[Q] Sensation no rom

Hi All, I have been a long way down trying different roms having rooted, SOFF, loading CWM recovery..... all with the help of great articles on this site, which I'm grateful for. However I slightly messed up and cant figure out how to get back to where i was. I deleted the rom software I was running in preparation for loading a different rom but I accidently pulled the battery before the replacement rom was installed. On booting the phone hung on the HTC screen. I can boot into the fastboot but when I try to load recovery the screen goes dark, I presume reboot, and hangs on the HTC screen. Is there a zip file I can load onto the micro sd that will load a rom automatically to get me back?
Many thanks

Hi,
Everything looks good in your hboot area.
Look HERE
Step 1. Flashing 4EXT recovery touch
Get 4 EXT flashed onto your phone.
One of the 3 methods will work.
Place a ROM on your sd card
Then, format all partitions (except sd card).
And flash away.

I'm in a very similar position where I can't get a booting rom.
I've tried a number of ways to achieve S-OFF to no success.
HBOOT is 1.18.000.
CID is HTC__038 (India).
Firmware is 1.52.720.3 (I think).
It's currently unlocked using the HTC dev method, and I've got the EXT4 recovery.
I've tried adding the CID to Europe RRU updates, but that always errors in a 12: Signature failed.
I've tried reloading the stock recovery and relocking the phone.
From what I can tell, to S-OFF for 1.18 requires a bootable rom, which I just can't achieve right now.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
You can always flash a matching RUU.

Unfortunately a matching RUU doesn't seem to exist. Google only finds about 4 search results, of which is most useful points back here where someone else is asking for it to no avail.
I've tried shipped-roms.com and a filefactory.com archive, but none suit this particular version.

25a) Q. i tried "name of custom rom here" but a feature of the phone doesnt work , eg. camera
A. make sure you are on latest recovery, read answer #5.
check md5 sum of file you are trying to flash/install, HOWTO HERE.
follow devs rom install instructions to the "T".
make sure you are on correct radio, reflash radio just in case, howto in the radio section of the 1STOP STICKY
start from the beginning w/full wipe, CHECK THE MD5 of your rom and and other files needed for rom like the radio, then reflash radio then rom.
Read the thread for the rom to see if the dev states any issues, read users feedback if they have mentioned said feature not working, eg camera. if no one had an issue then test by returning to stock(preferably latest) to see if said function/hardware works, if said function works on stock and users of rom states that it does work then its usually user error, what error? idk, you need to troubleshoot.
