[Q] Will i Be Able To Use 3G ATT?

I currently own a captivate but now that I have two I am planning on selling and buying a Nexus S.
My question is Im assuming I will not be able to use 3G, however with a custom ROM would I be able to get "H" network or will I only be able to use EDGE?

Edge only. T-Mobile and ATT use different network bands. Otherwise I'd own a nexus s as well.

Me too!!! The phone is super amazing. I actually debated with myself for 3 hours whether or not to just buy it and deal with edge...but I decided not to.

I'm not sure to be honest. If in fact you can get hsdpa or hsupa or hspa with a custom rom or modem. I may purchase one. I can look into it a little.

The answer is no. The physical support is not there - it's not an issue of flashing the appropriate radio.
An AT&T version has been seen in FCC fillings as well as referenced in commits in the git repo - it will be available soon enough. If you get the current version for AWS you're stuck on edge.

Well, you can't. Read the stickies in a forum before posting. Your question was answered there and it would've saved you time in finding your answer. This question gets asked a lot, in spite of the fact it's a stickied FAQ thread.
Also, earch the Nexus S forums for a more thorough answer why, this question has been asked quite a few times. Learning how to use the Search will save you a lot of time in finding your answers and prevent clutter & duplicate questions.

I'm loving it super stable. Its just I wanna get the Nexus S.
If with a Custom ROM you can get H in about 30 mminutes my captivate with CM7 and extended battery and a otterbox case will be for sale. And ill use that money to help pay for my Nexus S. Haha

You can't do this for the simple fact that "H" is based off of 3G. The 2 companies use different frequencies for 3G and as such, different hardware is required within the phone. Simply put, no 3g, no H no matter what ROM you flash.

the ATT version is coming soon, probably within the next few weeks. it already went thru FCC testing.

So it's March 31st...

Where's the 4g? Anyone have any official release announcments from AT&T? Any compelling speed tests anywhere? Anything?

I've had 5.5mbps+ constant since yesterday. Food for thought.

Those links refer to HSUPA which has nothing to do with HSPA+ or "4G"
By enabling HSUPA, it just increases your upload speeds.
Even the iphone 4 has HSUPA enabled but its not a 4G phone.

No changes here. Still getting 1-2mbps down,. 2-. 3mbps up here in Los Angeles. Slower if I use wap. cingular APN.

getting slower speeds than i usually do lol. go figure

4.4 down 1.3 up here

After a few days of up\down\up craziness, I'm faster now by quite a bit. I don't know if it's my new Di11igaf ROM or the ATT network. But it's nice.

Just for comparison, I'm on HSUPA and I get around 3.5 down and 1.2 up; I'm in Tallahassee, FL.

Cellular data rates are so damn slow when you are used to using the built in Wi-Fi N connection at home

Everything's slow when you're Jude's to using wifi It surprises me when I use my phone to browse in my local coffee shop sometimes; I get so used to latency while out that I'm geting ready to put thee ophone down when the page fully loads in 1-3 seconds.

Go to att.com/network. Before at the bottom it said future coverage expected to be available by march 31st now it says soon. and i think all they did was improved 3g. i am not getting anything close to the advertised 6MBPS

They advertise like its 4g out of the box. Big time misleading. Not once said the salesman say "dont expect 4g speeds right away"

Flashed Attn1's ROM > Horrible speeds for me?

Just as the title states...
I am coming from the latest Coredorid. I d/l and flashed "[ROM] RUU_Ace_Cingular_US_1.84.502.11-Radio-26_06_06 _30_M" from attn1 and when I go to Newtork infor I still show HSDPA with horrible speeds. Any info would be great...

Even when stock before root if you would have went to the network info it still would have said hsdpa. So what are you expecting it to say?

I don't know, I thought with the hsupa enabled it would show that, or at least some speed increase. All this is new to me so sorry if I don't hit the nail on the head here.

I'm just trying to understand your issue. Not beating you up for sure.

I flashed it and currently getting 5.5dl and 1.5ul.

Ok 1 time out of the last 50 tests I hit 989kB/s. Maybe it is working?

[Q] Has anyone Taken their Inspire to T-Mobile

I was wondering if anyone has taken their Inspire 4G from AT&T over to T-Mobile?
It's just that ive been with AT&T less than a month got my 1st bill for 3 lines and it's like 850 dollars. so it's like 90 for the family share 1400 and then 30 for the 3GB Data Pro then they switch plans so i get billed both the old rate and the new adjusted rate, for a Tier 1 Carrier they are reallt f****ed Up.
any way if anyone knows how please share a guide or what not Preferably APN settings, ETC ETC

Go with straighttalk from walmart. They'll send you a new sim and apn settings for the inspire. And it's 45 bucks a month for unlimited text, calls and Web. Win!
And yes, first bill is always super high. But 850bucks? Damn!!

I use my tmobile sim in my inspire...internet works ok but it is pretty slow at time...and pirateghost to get 3.5 sense ya just have to flash a Rom that has 3.5 built into it..just look at the name if it says sense3.5 its good

Inspire DOES work on T-Mo, just like any other ATT phone. It is slower, though. Edge speed, I believe.
