[Q] ok im confused i really need help! - HTC Sensation

OK, i wrote s-on wrong while on hboot 1.23 and it locked so i used htc dev and now i can use GB roms with ease but i really want to go back to ics. My hboot is 1.23 so i should be able to use 3.12 firmware roms??? I flashed the boot.img file of each of the ics roms i tried and they all go stuck on bootloop and know i don't know why, all of the roms i tried are on firmware 3.12, darkforest, oceicsv111,virtuous inquisition 2.0.0 and arhd 6.0.3. Does anybody know a solution?

are you supercided? have you flashed the right fw?

I am stuck in the same situation as you, S-on, hboot 1.23, firmware 3.12, unlocked with htc dev and supercided. I'd tried some ICS roms without luck. Tried, too, a bunch of methods to revert back to an hboot that could be used with Revolutionary, but nothing worked.
So I'm using a gingerbread rom (Elegancia) while I wait for another method to try, or for Revolutionary to be updated to hboot 1.23.

Bootloop in Sense 3.5

So my problem is that any rom i flash with Sense 3.5 will not boot, but will keep rebooting and rebooting. I am new to sensation but i did google this issue without solutions. My sensation is unlocked, from htc dev. S-ON, rooted, hboot is 1.8. I wanted to s-off, but revolutionary failed to get root. I don't know why. Currently i am able to flash roms with sense 3.0.
I will appreciate any help. I do full wipe before flashing. Please advice.

If you are trying to install the Sense 3.5-3.6 ICS versions you need Hbot 1.23 or 1.27 to boot.

Thanks, they are not ics versions. How do i update to hboot 1.23? by updating firmware i suppose. i will much appreciate if someone can point me to the right firmware. I don't want ics, i only want to have GB with Sense 3.5 and i read that once i update to hboot 1.27 then i should forget GM roms. So, do i really need to have hboot 1.23 or 1.27 to flash GB roms with Sense 3.5? Thanks
No you don't need those hboots but if you want to flash ics then yes you do
So how can i avoid the bootloop whenever i flash a GB rom with Sense 3.5? i am able to flash and boot GB roms with Sense 3.0. i have unlocked bootloader, hboot 1.18. any other requirement needed to flash a GB rom with Sense 3.5?

i did try many times, apart from that revolutionary will only give me s-off and recovery, my understanding is that to flash any custom rom i need to be rooted and have recovery but my phone is rooted and recovery is installed, i even have the bootloader unlocked. please correct me if i am mistaken.
You actually need s -off of you plan flashing ics roms and want to be able to downgrade hboot if you ever want to go back your hboot is unlocked but your security flag is still on and that's the most important thing

Bootloop with 3.24 and 3.30 firmware

Lately I have some problems with installing the latest firmwares for the Sensation. Both 3.24 as 3.30 firmwares cause a bootloop, but the 3.12 firmware is just working fine.
My flashing procedure:
1. Super wipe
2. Install Firmware
3. Super wipe
4. Install ROM
5. Wipe dalvik + cache
6. Fix Permissions
This all causes a bootloop. Also tried to install the ROM first and then the firmware. (without super wipe in between of course)
Things I've tried
- My cid was HTC__E11 and changed it to 11111111 (and back again now)
- Tried booting without sd-card and without sim-card
- Making a PG58IMG.zip with an old HBOOT
-Tried both Mike1986.'s firmware as the noob friendly from Kohr-Ah
More people having these probs and do any of you have new ideas?
The only thing that can in my mind, was to stick with the 3.12 roms untill the official release comes form HTC. Unroot etc to get the official update and check if my phone will work. If not, send it to HTC Repair centre.
Which ROM are you trying to install? You try updating firmware to latest 3.30 and install latest Insertcoin, works for me.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using Tapatalk
all you have to do is:
download the 3.30 fw
put the PG58IMG in your sd card root folder
go into hboot screen and flash it (you have to be superCID) reboot+vol down
now delete PG58IMG from your sd card and reboot in recovery
wipe all and flash your rom
enjoy
If you had bootloop eariler with V3.24 firmware , you will still have bootloop with V3.30 firmware as the HBOOT is same in both v3.30 and V3.24 .
Stick to V3.12 till HTC release a newer HBOOT in near future . Till now there is no logical reason why it is happening with a very few users.
I've had the same problem all day with this. I flashed the recommended 3.3.0 f/w this morning and couldn't for the life of my work out why i was getting bootloops.
Luckily I came across this by chance, saved hours of tearing my hair out thanks

I've tried, ARHD, InsertCoin, HyperNonSense, Open Sensation CM9, Virtuos Inquisition. It's not the Rom that's causing the bootloop. It's the firmware that's causing it.. Most roms do work with he 3.12 firmware.
Think I'll stick to musarraf172 his advice and stay on 3.12 till a new hboot comes out. Or maybe if someone else finds a solution for this.
FINALLY a post that I can reply on (forum rules I'm new @ develpers section)
I have the same problem as you I get bootloop with 3.24 and 3.30
3.12 runs fine, my question is, can I install mike's new ROM 6.3.0 XE
with the 3.12 or will I screw up my phone (I really don't know much about this sorry if it's a stupid question )
P.S: the 3.12 fw bootloader says LOCKED on it, doesn't let me to flash radio, so I'm currently stuck with a piece of metal, any help?
thanks

no you can't...you need at least 3.24 fw
where can I get some other firmware (unlocked one) which will work with mike's rom Android Revolution 3.6.13 (and the radio on his post)
on his post it sayd "thanks to HTC for base firmware" where can I get that?
Thanks

You might be wrong here.
@ guy asking question. Just install the rom with 3.12 fw, as mussy said, there are a few people that get bootloops with latest fw but run ok on 3.12. Also, you can always take 3.30 fw, remove hboot.img from it, and just update radio and other partitions but leave hboot intact. That might work.

You can run ARHD 6.3.0 with V3.12 firmware. Some users already confirmed this.
Locked HBOOT does not allow to flash radio, splash via fastboot. But You can easily flash radio, splash etc by PG58IMG.zip method.
bootloop fix?
Hey again,
just figured out why I got the bootloops with the 3.30 and 3.24
The reason is very simple : I tried to flash them without flashing to the new ROM
The old ROM I had just happened to work with the 3.12 but with the 3.24/3.30 it went to the bootloops.
Here's the guide that helped me with this issue (now I have the 3.30 and the 6.3.0XE ARHD ROM) :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298
Thanks to erraggy for giving me this link to the great guide
P.S : If you have some cooked UOT file you made with SystemUI.apk & framework-res.apk , DO NOT flash them after flashing the ROM , your phone will be stuck @ the first boot for hours. I know it sounds stupid, but hey, I'm new at this and if it helps others do be it
btw, great ROM

I tried doing this and still cant upgrade to 3.24 or 3.30 fw. I did super wipe, flashed fw 3.30 and then flashed ROM but still get boot loops. I think some phones cant upgrade?
I have T-mobile US and i did try the user friendly fw 3.30 also.

Did V3.24 work on your phone ? If not , then V3.30 will also not work. You can flash v3.12 and install ARHD 6.3.0 . They will work together. If you still want to flash V3.30 , then replace the HBOOT 1.27.1100 in V3.30 with the HBOOT in V3.12.

Fw 3.24 didn't work for me either. I am currently using the 3.30 file with the hboot from 3.12 on Elegancia Rom. Its just strange that there are a few phones that can't boot with the 1.27 bootloader.

Currently Im on Hboot 1.27 and the stock rom is booting up without any problems!
No more bootloopts with Hboot 1.27 !
I'm gonna root my phone again and put back my image on OpenSensation/ CM9.

Thats great. The official untouched HBOOT 1.27 solved the issue.
Just curious . Does it show "locked" in bootloader screen ??
If so that menas the fastboot extended commands are disabled.
Just check it.
Ok, I'm done now. After installing the stock rom I just installed superuser and recovery again. Afterwards I restored my Nandroid backup and it's up and running.

PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
Hboot- 1.27.0000
Radio-11.22.3504.07_M

fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
You can download some beautiful splash from here. Open the flashable zip and find the splash1.img inside the etc folder.

Virtuous inquisition 4.
For sense ics roms id go with mike1986 arhd 6.5.3 rom.
So what u need to do is root ur sensation
Supercid
Flash 4ext recovery. Its an apk and easy to do
Upgrade ur firmware to 3.32. Flash in bootloader.
Need mike1986 superwipe script
Rom of your choice.
Boot into recovery. Flash the superwipe. Then flash ur rom. Quick run down of what you need to do.
Skill required? Not much. The hardest part might be using adb and fastboot commands for the supercid. Other than that its easy as pie

thanks so much,so now the supercid i read up on it while requiring s-off and root thats alil confusing but ill read up on it again and the superwipe ive been seeing that on rom threads "flash superwipe" what is that and where would i get it?
and i need a big help,i tried upgrading my firmware to 3.32 and it said "wrong cid" "fail" now its stuck on the htc logo and bootloops help please :'(
Superwipe is down toward the bottom of OP of this thread. It leaves you with a very very clean phone. So no apps, no user data, no ROM. You'd want to have a nandroid backup at the very least before superwiping, as well as titanium backup for your apps etc. You just flash superwipe from recovery like a ROM (install .zip from sdcard).
Sounds like you've got hold of the wrong firmware for your CID. So you either need to know your CID (if you've got your head around adb and fastboot commands, "fastboot getvar cid" will get that for you) and find the right firmware, or supercid your phone so you can use any firmware. Go to this thread for firmware.
For your firmware there's a file,
android.txt, that has a list of CIDs. The T-Mobile CID usually isn't in it. If you do the superCID you shouldn't have to worry about it. Other wise you have to open the file located in the PGM581000 file and add CIDT-MO010 to the txt file. Either way make sure you delete the PGM file immediately after you flash it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation ICS 4.0.3 ARHD 6.5.3XE. Rockin'
Go to the dev thread for ROMs, ARHD is my preference. Good directions and all the files you need linked right there. Well most ROM threads are that way but this ROM and firmware are smooth and flawless.

This is misleading and not really true. First of all, VI is not true AOSP but Sense with most of the obviously sense parts removed. Secondly OpenSensation CM9 is hands down the best true AOSP rom and now that it has bluetooth and 1080p camcorder there's virtually no reason to use a senseless sense rom like vi.

CID is carrier identification. The thread you downloaded your T-Mobile firmware from contains firmwares for a variety of CIDs, in other words, specific to whichever carrier your phone came from. SuperCID removes that form of 'branding' and allows you to flash any firmware file, if you look through the list of firmware they can all be flashed to a device with CID 11111111. So essentially we superCID for convenience.
SuperCID has no bearing on what ROMs you can flash, the only consideration is that a particular ROM will require a certain firmware, eg. ICS ROMs need 3.12 base or higher.

Almost. SuperCID and custom recovery you can do no worries. Firmware upgrade will depend on what stock ROM is currently installed, if you flash firmware that your stock ROM isn't compatible with you will get bootloops and most likely have to downgrade. So personally I wouldn't be looking to upgrade firmware until you intend to flash a ROM that requires it. At that point you'll want a custom recovery anyway so it won't hurt to install that now.

Thanks. I'm currently on the T-Mobile Sensation 4G stock ROM S-Off/Rooted. Will going to the 3.32 firmware wipe the stock ROM or cause bootloops for sure?
I also have ClockWork Recovery from a really long time ago. Using ROM Manager to flash a new recovery (trying to update) does nothing. Why does that happen? Perhaps my recovery is too old?

I'm would assume your 4G would already be running ICS? In which case you probably already have up-to-date firmware installed. The firmware update generally applies for people coming from GB to ICS. Go to Settings/About Phone/Software Information/More/Build Number and see what numbers you have there.
Flashing firmware will not wipe your ROM, the worst that will happen is bootloops if the firmware and ROM aren't compatible.
The recovery you have now shouldn't stop you from flashing a new one, instead of using ROM Manager try downloading 4ext from the Play Store and see how that goes.

Please Help me! HTC sensation problem!

I rooted my phone, i got my first rom... it worked well... then I decided to update the firmware and hboot to 1.27.1100 in order to get the ICS... i didn't do the CID or anything... when i flashed the rom... (Android Revolutionary 6.6.4)... when it was done, it would stay on this Android logo... it would just stay there for hours. So I decided to go back to the old (Android Revolutionary HD android 2.3.4)... but it would just keep on getting in a bootloop... please how do I fix this? i tried doing a wipe... still doesn't work... I read somewhere that in order to do this i have to downgrade back to 1.17 hboot... how do I downgrade? If i could avoid downgrading and get ICS to work what else should I do? please help me!
you cannot go back to GB from a 1.27 hboot, if your s-off you can just downgrade your hboot to 1.23 or below. I think you also have to downgrade your firmware...tht stuff is all posted here somewhere
fyi: hboot 1.23 supports GB roms and ICS roms
What firmware did you install?
Try This
Boot into recovery
Superwipe
Flash firmware for ARHD 6.6.4 (I believe it includes the proper hboot)
Flash ARDH again
I had a similar problem. After flashing ARHD, for some reason I was no longer Revolutionary s-off, so I tried flashing an engineering bootloader, which worked, but I ended up with a bootloop (the logo you're talking about that doesn't go away). I followed the steps above and was fine. Hope that helps.

Re-engineered HBOOT 2.00.002 and ICS.

Hi, guys, first of all I'm an absolute noob so bear with me if I didn't found all the answer even after having searched through the forum.
My big question is about the re-engineered HBOOT 2.00.002. I have a virginal Desire S, non s-off'ed and non rooted, HBOOT is the latest, that is 2.00.002. I want to load the latest official ICS rom from htc and, as I think I understood, HBOOT must be latest version, therefore non s-off since there is no way to s-off that version. But I also would like to just go to CM10 in the future.
Then I read about the re-engineered HBOOT 2.00.002. This HBOOT should give me s-off and the ability to load the ruu rom. Only catch is that you should re-partition the phone. And that's when things get weird. Does I need to do the re-partitioning before installing the ruu ICS rom after installing the re-engineered HBOOT? If so, in order to install the ruu ICS rom, does I need to have any working rom on the phone, that is, does I need to do the nandroid backup to have back my ginger bread 2.3.5 before installing the ruu ics rom?
And going on, currently there is any way to root the phone while on ICS htc stock rom?
But most important of all, what this re-enginnered hboot really is? The revoked/revolutionary mod only works on hboot versions before the 2.xxxx. Is this re-engineered hboot a 2.00.002 official hboot that has been modified to be s-off or is it a previous hboot s-off'ed via revolution but with a different version number?
Thank you all,
Vincent.

If I was you I would forget about the re-engineered HBOOT and just run the RUU and put ICS on your phone.
The re-engineered HBOOT is only for people who have S-Offed using the revolutionary method and have had trouble with the Android 4.0 Sense ROMs. You have absolutely no need to use it now.
If you want CM10 in the future then all you need to do is unlock your bootloader with htcdev, flash a new recovery (4EXT or CWM) and install CM10 from your custom recovery. You will be required to flash the boot.img file separately if you are S-On.
Hi Kavrocks, thank for your prompt answer. I'll surely follow your advice, it's the easiest way and my first goal is to get an easy ICS on my phone. My only doubt is about being able to get to cm10 or whatever else since no rooting hack has already been developed for the new ICS rom.
Do you think HTC will push updates on the new ICS rom or, being it for developer only, it will be just stuck to its original state?

Original.
By what I understand, now that an official ICS ROM is out and thus binary drivers are available, we should expect a fully working non-original ROM in a short time. How much time do you think it will take for the CMx developer to integrate the binaries into the CMx ROM?

Don't tell this my Desire S, HBOOT 2.00.002, S-ON, unlocked with stock ICS and root
Just do this:
- unlock your phone: www.htcdev.com
- Install stock ICS
- install a custom recovery using fastboot
- install superuser using custom recovery
Ok, I've succesfully got ICS on my Desire, eventhough I had to do a 'fastboot oem lock' to get past a 155 error. Now, would you please be so kind to tell me the exact filename of the superuser exploit that you have applied on ICS? I'm asking this to you because I've tried the 3.1.3 on GB2.3.5 and it always hang on 'waiting root access right'.
Thank you.
Vincenzo.

Ok, I'll answer to myself, use the CWM-SuperSU-v0.95.zip archive. It works with ICS.
