Hey Everyone, I've been searching around and I can't find anywhere that explains it, but I'm trying to boot my Rogers HTC Dream with a recovery file and I can get it into fastboot, but as soon I used the commands on the computer to load the recovery file, it goes to the Rogers logo and never moves from that page!! Does anyone else get this problem or know how to fix it?
Hi
Bourght a nexus s a few days ago. Today i tried to root the phone using a guide from youtube, if you search for "root nexus s" and look for the user named "Zedomax", thats the one i tried to follow.
First i unlocked it.
next thing was to:
fastboot flash boot recovery clockwork.img (shortend the name to help my self)
last thing:
fastboot flash boot rootboot.img
After this was done my phone is unable to reboot again, it just stops at a google logo with a lock under it. And at that point im unable to do anything. Only thing that works is removing the battery. Think i have killed it
Any ideas to what i could do? is it possible for me to save it yet?
best regards,
Fonain
try to use the pc software to repair it or to reinstall android.. there is no problem..
pc software? could you please tell me what software are you talking about, maybe a link to where i can download it? And do you by chance know how to reinstall android?

Best regards,

I have yet to use it on my NS but i used it regularly on my vibrant. You will need to get into download mode for it to work.
your link doesnt work
does anyone know where i can find the original files for nexus s so i can use em in fastboot and make my phone work again?

which phone model do you have?
i9020 or i9023 ?
Bootloader version is I9020XXKA3
Baseband version is I9020XXKB1
dunno if those version names have been changed while i have been tampering with my phone, if not its the I9020
that looks good
if it's really a 9020 then you can use the unlocking + rooting guide for the 9020 in the general section
once you get CWR installed, you can flash to any ROM you like
Thanks ill try look deeper into that, and see if that will solve my problem.
but it is already unlocked and partly rooted...i think.
have used a clockwork img and rootboot img, and after that my phone couldnt start up again.

those files are wrong use the mirror recovery image on the i9020 rooting topic in general http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895545
Think i should have used that guide instead of the one i have been using the first time... looks great step by step!
But....
i still have the problem where my phone just stops loading.
1: unlocked it
2: typed: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
3: finished at 1.132 sec (no problems so far)
4: reboot my phone, then it stops.
and it stop when showing this screen.
http://i53.tinypic.com/m74byg.jpg with a lock at the bottom which is unlocked.
And it just stops there, waited for several minutes as i have seen that the startup could take up to 2 mins after tampering with the nexus s.
get to the point in the guide where it tells you to download superuser.
Hope you can see if i have done something wrong
best regards,
Fonain
EDIT: oh yes, forgot to mention that the 2 touch buttons to the left on my SNS lights up. First one glowes for a sec or two, then it turns off again. The second stays on all the time.
repeat the fastboot flash recovery recovery.img one more time
after that is done, boot into the CW Recovery
you know hold up and power
then select mount USB
then copy over a stock nandroid backup for 2.3.3 rooted
after that unmount the usb
and select the option to restore rom from backup
and choose the folder that you unzipped into your mounted SD
3 words...
you are awesome!
thanks alot!!

Hi,
i had no android market on my Galaxy Player Wlan 4.0 , and i read somewhere you can use i9000 images on it.
I didnt want to flash another rom, just be able to install zip applications. But the 3e recovery image wouldnt let me.
So i installed the clockworkmod zimage for the i9000 according to this guide h**p://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide .
Yes, I was careless, i didnt do a backup of the recovery image before i used heimdall to flash the recovery image.
But now the player isnt booting anymore. I see Samsung on the screen for a short time, then it just shows some shredded letters and turns black (with the background lamp on).
But i can still boot into download mode. So i suppose i could flash the right image, if i would have it.
Just want to be very sure about the next steps, what would you guys suggest?
Iam in a bind here, brought on by my own carelessness, iam aware of that
Thanks in advance!!!!!
Help you to let it top
Come on
If you need to help.please that....
Can I go to a samsung service station? Or they dont accept half bricked players?
I found out that there was also a player called yp-gb1 launched in korea, maybe the zkernels are identical?
Its working again, but the touch screen is very strange.
Left and right is ok, but up and down is changed. If i want to click something on the top i have to touch the bottom :x
I will keep going, maybe i find another rom
Hi, so thought things where going well and here I am.
Just as a prewarning I often get overwhelemed with a lot of phone terms so sorry if I dont pick up straight away or make sense myself.
Basically wanted to Root my old google pixel xl, and I managed to unlock the bootloader, download magisk get the img and to the point where I had my patched file, all based on the guide on High on android . com
However once I ran the boot process of the patched file, it didn't work. I got stuck in wht I think was a boot loop, where the G would load up and then just be loading forever.
So I figured I did something wrong and went to load back the original Boot.img since that was their advice and this seems to have only made the problem worse, now I didn't even reach the G, instead google appears before flicking to a No command screen where there a dead lil androidian? idk what the green dude is) but yeah not good I assume.
So this is what I've tried to do so far;
I can still get to the bootloader page and have tried again to no success, even the patched file does the same and the original now.
I have tried the android recovery memory and doing a factory reset, and still have the issue
Turning the device off and leaving it and coming back
Applying an update from ADB within the recovery menu, which I tried both the og boot and patched and didn't work.
I did also notice that when following the tutorial and copying my device number I used Marlin but on the recovery screen now it says Sailfish, so I'm not sure if I used the wrong one? I have tried using the boot img from Sailfish but this did nothing.
Any help or is it better off to stop here?
Its not the end of the world but Id rather know before giving it away for parts or something
I have created one boot logo for those who are wanting to replace the original one and to also get rid of the bootloader unlocked screen. Even though i know it maybe a non self made one but it works on the Z3 play. This may only work on an unlocked device do to that is all i have tried it on so try at your own risk for locked devices.
To get it to work you need to have fastboot/adb installed on a computer.
Device needs to be in fastboot mode to install.
commands to flash are as follows.
fastboot devices
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot reboot
that's all that is needed to flash the custom one.
If anyone wants to create a image for a logo and wants it converted over let me know and i will do it for you at no charge.
I'm only gonna be doing this on my free time so please bare with me if I don't get back to you right away. Also I have not created any of my own designs yet but probably will at some point just need to find a decent program for windows to create the pictures for it.
Wow, nice. Thanks!
Btw, I made a Lineage OS boot screen if you could help me convert it to a logo.bin, thanks again.
