The battery on my SGS4G won't charge 100 percent. - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hello, im kinda new on the forums, anyway the lockscreen battery counter stays at 99 percent even after charging it for a while. This had been happening ever since I upgraded my phone to gingerbread. Any way to fix this?

Go into CWM delete the battery stats. Reboot phone once it is fully booted, pull the battery out and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Let the phone site for a minute or so after you hold the button. Put battery back in power phone on.
Use the phone as normal and let it drain to about 50% then attempt a full charge. It should reset the battery monitoring circuitry.

Battery question. Dieing when powered off

Ok I have searched and not found anything like this yet so I am going to ask. I know the phone has battery problems all around for a lot of people. Mine seems to be fine when it is on. It can sit and idle powered on all day locked and stay at full charge. It runs about 10 hours with minimal use and maybe 8 hours with some data use and a few calls and texts. Now I am experiencing a wired problem. When I go to work we cannot have cell phones. I leave my phone in my locker and power it off. After my 12 hour shift is up at work I come back to the phone with a dead battery? What could be causing this? And has anyone else noticed this issue?
defective battery? pull the battery and see if it still does it. If it does, gotta be a defective battery.. if it doesn't do it when pulled, you're not shutting off the phone maybe?
Yesterday I tried leaving the battery out. I took the battery out and let it sit 12 hours and it still had full charge when I put it back in. When I go to work I long press on the power/lock button and choose Power off then I watch it shut down and it just dies before I come back. I wish I could watch it the whole time. Today I left the phone off for around 6 hours and came back and it was fine though. Maybe it gets turned on some how at work. I have no idea. Or when I go to power it on it is just the issue where the phone isn't reading battery % correctly and it just says 0%
Seems like a battery driver issue or a defective battery? definitely call t-mobile and check if it's the battery. I've had some issues as well, but not that bad.
Weird.
So the phone powers off after you turn the screen on and it won't come back on? Try putting the phone in airplane mode.
Also, I'm assuming you are running the stock roms?
Might also want to check into a battery monitor to see if any 1 thing is pulling it down.
I think it might just be the battery driver. Sounds like the phone is in suspend so it doesn't power off properly until the screen is turned on and is revived, updating the battery % status, seeing 0%, and turning off.
CM7 fixed the wonky battery issue a few nights ago. Right now, I think a current CM based rom is the best bet as it has most of the drivers fixed. I'ved used mine pretty heavily today, unplugged at 8am and I just got a 15% battery warning at 11:30pm. It will usually last until I go to bed at midnight but I might want to play with it some more.

Really Irritating Battery drain/percentage "jump"

Ever since I have flashed 4ext recovery My battery jumps percentages. For example: If i charge my phone from ~30% overnight with the device switched on, as soon as I unplug my phone it's fine, but after about 15 minutes the battery plummets to about 90% without me even using it! Second thing, if I decide to reboot into recovery to flash a theme or mod or whatever the percentage when in recovery mode shows that it is higher than what is indicated when fully turned on?? And once again, if i reboot from there, when the device has turned on the battery has plummeted even further to 50%! Yes I've deleted batterystats.bin and calibrated the battery, and yet still this happens!
I experienced a very similar issue with my last phone (HTC Desire) and that was linked to it being "USB bricked" and was able to resolve my problem.
Thank you all in advance

Wel with my experience (do you have a percentage mod installed?) uot kitchen mods react weird with my device. The battery isn't necessarily draining. The mod isn't representing the actual percentage.
My work.around was as follows
Drain to 2 percent
Turn phone off and charge over night
(this way the battery decides when its full)
Deal with percentage reading being way off for a whole day. When it dies turn it back on and there will be the residual percentage that was skipped over. Let that drain down. Then try and turn it back on (repeat steps)
After phone dies completely then charge once again overnight with phone Off.
Wake up unplug phone, boot into recovery, plug phone back in, wipe dalvik/cache then bat stats. Reboot and unplug.
That's what I do. Sounds like a lot but you get a routine after a while. Ya a lot if people percentage mods do that to me.
Hope this helped
Good luck
I'm mobile right now

[Q] Power Issue.. Please Help!

Hi all,
There's this problem with my phone that everytime I charge it, it takes an elongated time to do so. This issue first emerged when I was on stock GB after a minor OTA update which added the power saver toggle to the quick settings menu..The problem is that it takes about 4-5 hours to fully charge the phone, and if I rebooted in the middle of charging when it's about 70% or 80%, it suddenly shows that the phone is fully charged, and the indicator becomes green! But afterwards the battery drains as quickly!
Now I have S-Off and using ARHD 6.6.3 ROM, but it seems the problem persists ..I wiped battery stats as soon as I flashed the ROM as well..Although it's not a problem I cannot live with, it's annoying enough when it happens.
Can someone please help me? And suggest me what to do?

its common thing...the battery calibration is not proper that's all...
also you need to wipe stats once you charge your phone to 100%
then battery will try to calibrate ...and after 3-4 full complete cycles (100-0 and 0-100)
the battery will settle..
the battery drain will be there ...whenever you flash a rom or flash a kernel....battery only settles atleast after 2 full cycles
EDIT: also download currentwidget from market..as the name says its a widget..so you will see it in widgets once you installed it...this will give you more proper reading of battery...when you plug your phone to charge...and when current widget reads 0mah then your battery is charged completely...(it might take a long time to read 0mah...but charge it until you see 0mah)..then wipe the battery stats...so after this battery calibration will be proper
Also the sudden jump of battery percentage is due to improper battery calibration
so dont worry you got no problem
So
I read somewhere that you are not supposed to let the phone go to zero because it could cause your phone to not power back on anymore..is this fact. I couldn't find where I read it to back and read again. Mine has been doing some weird things as well...the led turns green before it is 100% and it goes from 100% and drops to like 89% out of no where.

when i meant 100%-0% means until your phone turns off due to less power..it might not(or won't be) be 0% then
as i told you that kind of jumps are common ...in my case it went to 60% to 100% when i rebooted ...also the dropping used to be in large scale too

Strange issues after replacing the battery

I just got a battery from etradesupply and now im having some issues with charging and fast drain. The battery will charge like normal up to 100% but if i power the phone off it will start charging for another 15 mins before full. After it's full and i power up it will show 85-90%. Ive done this cycle about 5 times. The battery also drains the first 10% in about 10mins after i unplug it then it will slow down. Just strange that even with these problems the battery life is about the same if not a bit better than the old battery. Im rooted running 5.0.1. I might try a fresh factory install when i have time. Anyone have suggestions before i try that?
bump...any ideas?

I'd say try to wipe everything on your device and flash the stock factory image first and see how it goes to rule out a software issue. If it still does not help then should be the battery.

When the battery first reaches 100% it's actually not done charging yet, it takes about 30mins afterwards before the juice stops flowing. If you unplug during that time it is normal for the battery to drop to show you the true charge level. Could that be what's happening here?
Try keeping it plugged in over night and then the next day it shouldn't drop by more then 1 or 2% (trickle charge kicks in around there).

How does a battery lose 22% power during a simple RESTART??

Title says it all... just restarted my phone to find the battery stats had dropped very significantly. thought it was a fluke so i went into recovery, deleted battery stats, and still the drop was present upon next restart.
not only that the other day i lost 30% overnight while it was powered off!!!
this is a fairly new anker battery.... it shouldnt go to crap overnight shouldt it? they have extremely high reviews!
this power drop during restart happened just after i had left the battery out of the phone all night!! Went in at the same power level as the night before, i used it some, restarted, and boom 22% missing...
just did another battery pull and it lost 3 more %. before this, this battery was perfect!! 1 random wakelock in about 6 months time. I dont get it. this is not a gradual degrading of battery, this is downright crap
Try calibrate the battery

Should take a titanium backup of apps. Move that folder to ext sd card and factory reset the device.
Problem must go away

Probably it was 22% lower the whole time but it was displaying incorrectly. Try calibrating the battery.
Already tried this... Just had it lose 30% again... A program froze and I had to manually restart (hold power button down), went from 60-33%... It was only frozen for about 30 seconds... This battery is only less than 6 months old. I just gave it a full drain until power off, and then a full uninterrupted charge while powered off like everywhere suggests.... And it's still messed.
What else could be wrong?!
With the initial restart it wasn't even a freeze, it was a restart from the power menu... Any battery app I have just reads from the phones main power meter, not it's own...
This is so frustrating...
Eta: why would a factory reset of software fix an external hardware problem? Plus I just reset a couple of months ago, it's really not that old and bogged down of a system....
Bad battery. Let it run all the way down to it dies. Then charge it all the way too 100 the. Turn on the phone and keep it on the charger for an hour and then run like you normally do and see that helps. I do this with all my phone and it works you should do it once a month to keep it healthy .
Have your battery tested to see if it is a bad one. Is it swollen at all even a lil bit?
