As per title, is there any app that can actually link the Ringer and Notification volumes together?
I know the option is not available in ICS anymore.
But is there some sort of way that a dev can make this happen?
Regards,
Shawn.
anybody knows of a workaround?
The option isn't there because in ICS they are permanently linked.

You can kind of unlink them with this app
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brianhislop.icsringervolume
Other than that, cyanogenmod 9 will have the feature built-in. Same with AOKP roms.
it's so weird, if they are permanantly linked. why is it when i adjust my volume rocker, only the ringer's volume would increase/decrease, but not my notification volume?

Perhaps the ROM you're using is based on a GB one, and the devs simply haven't yet removed the redundant rocker?
Or perhaps your ROM has already unlinked them, like AOKP has? The THS CM9 ICS ROM hasn't yet, as of build 16.
Do your independent rockers actually work independently, not just visibly? i.e. are you able to mute notifications and still have the phone ring?
If so, you're very lucky: most ICS users currently have to buy that app noted above to achieve that

I'm using Handcent for ny messaging because I prefer it to the stock app, but anyway, whenever I lower the ringer volume, the volume of my text tone doesn't change. Is it that way with the stock app or is it Handcent or am I just doing something wrong? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but on my MotoDroid the ringer volume controlled everything.
you need to install audio manager. this seperates the audio channel so you can control the volume of each independently. fyi your issue is common among android phones, always been that way and its kinda stupid...enjoy.
From he homescreen hit menu, settings, sound, volume, then check off the check towards the bottom.

i don't think you have any idea what he actually asked lol...
Does anyone know if it's possible to link the ringtone volume level with the notification volume level? I remember it being possible to do this on my Captivate when you went into Settings > Sound and clicked on Volume, there was a checkbox at the bottom of the pop-up menu to link them. I'm not sure if that was just because of the ROM I had on it, or if it was also stock Froyo. I liked it because I could quickly lower my text message notification volume right from the volume rocker, as it would then control both the ringtone and the notification level. But now it only lowers my ringtone volume. So is this at all possible to do? And if not, is it something that a dev could possibly work into a ROM?
You could use the app called audio manager that does it.

Thanks for the tip. Just downloaded it and it does, in fact, allow the volume rocker to adjust both my ringtone and text message volume at the same time. So I will definitely be using this for now; although, I really don't need all the other features. I wish I didn't have to download an entire app to accomplish this small task. I feel like I'm always having to do that haha. I just wish it was easy enough to include these small little individual preferences right into the system, framework, etc. by yourself. I also feel like that was a great little feature and I wonder why they would've done away with it in GB. Ohh well, thank you though!
Coming froma samsung, i was able to control the volume of the Notification and Ringer independently. Is there a way to do this on the Butterfly?
I have tried a couple of Volume Control apps but the it doesnt work. If anyone has the solution or found an app which works please let me know.
Thanks and regards.

Do you mean to up or down volume? If so, just use the buttons on the right side of butterfly.

No..the rocker volume controls the ringer and notification together. I want to be able to have ringer tone loud and notifications silent...that's what I mean..Thanks anyway.

JB 4.1 linked them together....so can't separate them..
One of the gripes I have with android L is that if im playing music through google play, I can't change the volume of the ringer while the music is playing. It just adjusts the music volume. Is there an expandable volume panel object of some sort? thanks.

There is an app called Noyze that seems to be what we are after but it needs to be updated because it can't be activated in lollipop...
Settings -> Sound & Notification
Yeah great. If you git a mo3 or video screaming way to loud I will go to settings and then....
Thats ridiciculous.
An expandable volume panel has just been added in the latest Cataclysm ROM update.

Well no because if you have media playing, the volume keys control the media. There's no problem there. OP wants to adjust ringtone volume whilst media is playing. Volume keys won't control ringtones until media is stopped.
Try Volume Button by Yogesh Dama. Not exactly what you what but it may be enough until we see this in custom ROMs.

I'm on mobile using XDA app and I've done some searching on this but haven't seen a similar thread or come up with a solution. I prefer my Volume Rocker keys to control Ringer Volume by default and I guess Nougat has changed the default to Media Volume. Anyone know how to change the default back to Ringer Volume?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: for what it's worth, anyone wanting to do the OPPOSITE of what I was wanting can start with this app...Rocker Locker

The default when no audio or video is playing is ringer volume

I always knew this to be the case but convinced myself otherwise because I couldn't figure out the issue.
It looks like I have an app installed that makes the system persist as if there's media being played even when the app is in the background (and before you ask...No, the app isn't a video or music streaming app! :silly: ).
