[APP] Sky Go for Android (UK ONLY) - Android Apps and Games

The .apk is below, please report whether it works.
According to Sky it should only work on:
HTC Desire
HTC Desire S
HTC Desire HD
HTC Incredible
HTC Sensation
Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy S II.
And it only works on Froyo (2.2) and Gingerbread (2.3), so no ICS yet using the official app.
There are also some issues with root and DRM begin not able to see some content.
credit to Sky for the app.
credit to gumbald for the upload.

You have an S2 which is supported can you upload?!
I think root only blocks not live tv, which is still annoying.
Sent from my Milestone using Tapatalk

Yeah - i'd love to try to see if the .apk might work - no harm since its a free app anyway - We could be waiting a long time to get it on other devices. Especially like a tablet.......... Any upload would be greatly apreciated

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bskyb.skygo
Apparently it's compatible with the HP Touchpad, but can't test until I get home tonight.

I sent it to my touchpad too I will check tonight. Disappointed about no ICS love for my Nexus ...
Anyone able to get the APK file up? I want to try it anyway

Just got it from my Desire....

I've installed this on my rooted Galaxy Nexus (4.02) and when I try and sign in it says," Sorry, Sky Go is not currently supported on this device. Please see FAQs for more information.". :-(

Installs and runs on rooted galaxy nexus, however when you go to sign in, a message pops up saying sky go is not supported on this device. going to take a lot more trickery to convince it that its running on one of the other devices. Thanks for the APK though.

I've installed it onto my GS2 (Villian Rom 3.0 (2.3.5) rooted obviously) installs fine but will only play Sky News.. all over channels in my subscription just sit on the loading screen.
Sometimes a error flashes up briefly but to quick to see what it says.
As Sky News is a free to air channel this must be down to DRM restrictions on the other channels and therefore this is why its checking for root access???

Thanks for the upload, installs fine on my Nexus but then I cannot sign in, "unsupported device"

thanks for the file tried running it on my transformer, it installs loads in horizontal mode only and won't let me login as my device isn't supported yet! But its a start I suppose cheers

*waits for someone clever to "tweak" the .apk to make it work*

Wouldnt changing the buildprop to that of the SGS2 make it work?

I think thats what we will all be waiting for now, I just wonder who will be first, tweaked version from xda devs or oficial version for ICS from Sky.

I can't even download it because of root presumably.
Anyone know if it works on jailbroken iPhones?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 using Tapatalk

Root blocking things on my desire HD. Not even sky news loading.everything gets stuck on 0%

yeah it works on jailbroken iPhones so blocking root makes no sense

"Not supported" message on my CM9 SGS2, eagerly awaiting some clever dude to tweak it!

As an added data point, stock Original Galaxy Tab, .apk from this thread, starts OK but blocked on login due to being an "unsupported device".

Netflix speculation and hacking

First off, let me express how pissed I am that there isn't a working android Netflix app. The fact that WINDOWS PHONE 7 got it before us is absolutely retarded. I understand the issue with security and stuff, but why not at least release it to work on phones that have proper DRM certification (I've heard second-generation snapdragon would be compatible.)
Now, I would like people to tell of any inside information they might have on an ETA, in addition to any info there may be on a cracked version of the leaked app.
I'm getting really impatient, and if it's true that ONLY phones that haven't been released yet can run it, I don't even know...
So once again, post anything you know about Netflix for android.
It was working on the evo for a couple days based on a security loophole. But netflix closed it really fast, made me mad too. No battlestar galactica from my phone sucks!

They just released an official version:

Anyone have it working on Epic 4g from another download? Not showing up in market. I was hoping since Galaxy S had it the Epic would.
The APK is available here:

Isn't there a way to change the "name" of our device so the app thinks we're using a Nexus S?

Just try running the APK I just posted - I have an HD2 running Android off my SD card which emulates an HTC Desire and the APK works no problem!

Yes, you'll have to edit your build.prop.

Yeah... it didn't work. I think I'll have to fiddle with my build.prop to see if I can fix. Anyone know if I'm wasting my time?
Works great on my evo! Thanks for posting this thread, I didn't even know it was officially released! Woot
Loaded the .apk on my Moto Droid running BB. It says the device isn't supported and won't stream but otherwise everything else seems accessible.
What do I change in the build.prop to see if I can get it to be viewed as another device?
Anyone get it working on a Droid?
I changed three lines in my build.prop. Just find these lines in your build.prop and change them to this:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/htc_vision/vision/vision:2.2.1/FRF91/277427:user/release-keys
Reboot, and that worked for me!
FYI, make sure it is exact, case and everything. Use Notepad++.
thx netflix on a phone is awesome!
Ok so I have less than 10 posts so i can't post to the forum i need to...Netflix apk...bunk but whatever...i have thunderbolt rooted running cyanogen 7.0.3 and installed the Netflix apk with no device check. It installed fine but when i open Netflix i get "there is an update for this app" if i hit cancel it closes if i hit ok it says it cnnt find the update and closes, can someone please pick this up and assist because the forums wont let me post to that thread trying to see if there is another apk file i should be using, I tried to edit build.prop with es file explorer and when I go to settings-root options-root explorer I select cyanogen mod from pop up it then says "test failed this feature cnnt run on your phone" any suggestions? Thanks
Even better, call me newborn all you want but installed liquid gingersense 1.0 through Tom manager and now can't get past home screen but home screen has no icons and no buttons function, I'm sure there's a way to do this but if the auto root mr1 will not recognize device connected how can i restore my phone to get it working?

anybody got netflix working for the infuse? i tried the stock 1.2.0 and modded 1.2.0 before seeing that 1.2.1 is out and doesnt have device check anymore so it doesnt need to be modded but its still closing the program after i log in.

Yeah, I tried as well this morning with the same results. BTW just wanted to note my infuse is rooted.
Rooted infuse with no device check apk same result
tried. Installs fine, but closes after trying to sign in
I am able to sign in and utilize all of the apps features including navigating my instant queue, but it shuts me down when i try to play.

it only works with gingerbread on the hummingbird. on a snapdragon it works on 2.2 because quallcomm has a deal with netflix. i guess the drm support is different.

Thanks for the the 1.2.1 download. I was able to get the 1.2.0-No device check.apk version to install and launch. Everything but streaming is working (i.e. add to queue, search, etc.). One thing I haven't tried yet is to 'deactivate' one of my devices that I use to stream Netflix. Remember, you only get 6 unique devices at a time. I had to do this when I got my AppleTV2 and realized that between the xbox360's, blu-ray player and the multiple iphone/Pads in our house, that I had run out of activations (got a message that the ATV2 couldn't access Netflix Instant, blah, blah, blah... a similar one to what I'm getting when I try with the Infuse), so I deactivated the blu-ray and was able to use my ATV2 just fine.
Will post if this works.
deactivating devices doesnt make a difference. and i dont appear to be limited to 6 devices anymore, i now have 9.
What it's going to boil down to is to modify a gingerbread rom and most importantly a kernel to get it onto an infuse. That's the only way we're gonna pull this off.....
Or just wait. =]

Netflix WILL NOT work on the Infuse until we have android 2.3.x... Netflix will not support the Hummingbird processor on Froyo.

i tried all the apks i could find, none worked. im not convinced though that its the hummingbird processor and it needs gingerbread. there just happens to be one hummingbird phone its officially listed for, the nexus s, and it naturally has gingerbread.

NETFLIX for the 7" Galaxy Tab GT-P1010 {CONFIRMED WORKING}

I was over on the Samsung Intercept threads on SDX Developers Forums and I saw the below thread linked from there. I figured if it worked for the Moment and the Intercept that it was worth a try on my WiFi only Galaxy Tab. And, IT WORKED!!!
The resolution wasn't great, the sound volume was low, and it was a little choppy...but it worked!! I just watched about 15 minutes of the movie Kick Ass to test it out and it was working!
I don't know if it will work with the GSM or CDMA versions of the Galaxy Tab because I only have the WiFi only version, the GT-P1010. I have FroYo 2.2.1 running on my rooted Galaxy Tab.
Credit needs to go to the original person that posted this. I did not develop this or have anything to do with it. I am merely passing on the information.
Since I don't meet the requirements yet for minimum posts...I can't post a link.
If you head over to SDX Forums and look under "Tablets" --> "Samsung Galaxy Tab" --> "Tab -Development" --> and then you'll see my NETFLIX post.

The program said it needed an update and when I clicked the link it showed it in the market. The update fixed my low volume. Working great.
I guess it's a moot point now that it's in the Android Market for all devices running 2.2 and 2.3.

Hooray! Confirmed working on my P1010 tab. Awesome share!!
Both the apk and the one in the market gives me an error, the app opens and i can access my account and movies, but when trying to actually watch a movie i get something along the lines: "Your device needs to be updated to watch instantly from netflix. Visit the manufacturer or netflix/NRD to obtain more information"
At this point im not sure if its because im outside USA (we just got netflix a couple of days ago) and android is just not supported here yet or if its something about my device.
Im running rooted gingerbread on a verizon CDMA Galaxy Tab 7".
How about using ip hide and set ur country as usa then try configure back ur netflix. Give it try man.

I tried on my EVO LTE also. One APK had a parse error, and the other would not load.
For now lets not post our results because we all are getting the results. One package is a parsing error and the other one does not load. Try to keep this thread clean so we don't have everyone posting the same results. Again i'm hoping some developers can shed some light on this and get this working somehow. Thanks in advance who ever does! =)
I talked with SPRINT and the APK will not work without to correct SOC code attached to the account. They also said that the accounts will not allow the SOC to be attached, unless it is one of the junk phones that legitimately supports the feature. At this time the only other phones in the pipeline for release are LG's.
BUNK!!!

Bump -- need this also for my Nexus7 - which according to Sky is not compatible, but it's worth a try...
I would like to try this on my nexus 4 also..
ive managed to get the apk by downloadingit onto a rooted galaxy s with cyanogen mod 10.1 and install it onto my stock one x+.
however, i am presented with ridiculous messages on both.
on my one x+ it starts ok, allows you to sign in, but when you try to play a movie, it tells me "this device is not supported".
on the galaxy s, i am told that this software version on this device isnt supported.
most recent version of now tv downloaded from market.
i could upload the apk, but from the looks of things its a complete waste of time.
sky need to get their act together. definitely not worth £8.99 let alone the £15 a month they want normally. luckily i got a free trial.
