[Q] Speaker phone every time i use phone all of a sudden?

Last night I noticed every time I use my phone, rather I call or answer a call, its automatically on speaker phone and I have to turn the speaker off.
Infuse 2.2.1 rooted stock AWESOME WORKING ROM with all Go theme stuff...
what could be wrong? I can't figure it out.

Same issue here. It really confuses me.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the upgrade. I upgraded from 2.2 to 2.2.1 lastnight when all this started.

No mines doing it to can't figure it out. I haven't changed anything in over a month

i just got mine 2 days ago and it has done this as well. very sporadic though. i'm rooted but on stock rom.

On my Inspire there is a DOCK setting that would cause this. I do not know if the infuse has it or not but something you can look for?

It's a bug that happens when new rom is flashed and the phone apk gets messed up....
Could happen on any new rom and side effect is always the same - call is answered and immediately goes to speaker phone...
Have to wipe data/factory reset and flash again usually...

I have been having the issue on my Infuse as well, in addition to screen rotation being stuck on, no matter if I turn off the settings to do so. After finding the dock settings under general settings, telling my phone to force an undock, this fixed the issue. A side note, I have a backup battery case that is always plugged in; I had to remove the case to turn off the docking settings, because with the case the phone always thought it was docked.

[Q] Freezes up

my phone freezes up multiple times a day and i have to take out the battery in order to get it to work. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have not experienced that. A bit of information might help others to possibly help you, though. Can you tell us what ROM you're using, if the problem started recently, if it started after you installed a certain app, if you're over clocking or under clocking, and if you've tried to do a factory data reset?

Im running stock. The last time i tried to install a rom i ended up with the picture in the attachment. So i took it to the local T-Mobile kiosk and they replaced it for me. i re-rooted it but didnt rom it at all. And its been like this since i got the replacement phone. never had the problem before. (this was a week ago)

Pretty picture. Kidding, of course. Reminds me of messing with interlaced graphics on my old Amiga.
If it's been doing it since you got it chances are it's probably a hardware issue. I've not heard of rooting causing issues like that. Did you install any apps after you got it, specifically anything that runs/syncs in the background?

Nothing i didnt have on before. umm.. Go SMS and Launcher, Widget Locker...

I'd go the factory data reset route & not install any apps for a day or so and see how it runs. If all is OK, start reinstalling your apps 1 x 1, give each app a day to see if the problem starts up.
If you do a factory data reset and it's still doing it, then it's probably faulty hardware.

Yeah try a factory reset and see how that does. The rainbow screen looks like a gingerbread rom without the correct bootloaders.

So that's the mysterious rainbow screen I keep reading about. Thanks, because I had no idea what it looked like (thank goodness). The bottom part reminds me of Poltergeist "Don't go into the light..."

Is this new phone they gave you refurbished?

I used to have that problem all the time when i was stock... New ROM and it went bye bye...
Hah that picture you got there reminds me of when i stupidly flashed a gb kernel on froyo... still fixed it and matter of factly I'm using the same device right now were all newbs at some point, don't let it discourage you, just take it as a lesson learned and be more careful next time

screen flips out, almost like filter color ?

every once and a while when i go to unlock my infuse, my screen is messed up.
it looks like normal but everything is 1 color a lot of the times blue.
strangely my last one did this as well.
any ideas what causes this ? thanks
(if i lock my phone, then unlock it, it goes back to normal when this happens)

I get this too.

What rom are you on? I've only seen this happen while on Galnet's MIUI rom. Sometimes it's red, the other times it's blue.

Me too...I kinda liked it lol
Never knew what color id get...red, green, blue, yellow, pink, purple....seen them all....bur now im on zeus and havent seen it yet

idk..I'm wondering if this is the rainbow effect encountered when you are running a gb (2.3) based rom without the GB bootloaders.
possible solution: flash gb bl from dani's post. flash to a stock gb leak before flashing a custom rom - uckj4 or above should have bl included

I've had the gb bl from at&T's leak ever since it came out. It's not it.

I went from stock > s7 (port) > gsinfuse (port) > galnet miui ics (port) > zeus with a few odins after s7 and one right before zeus....never heard about bls until these past weeks

I have tried stock leaks, victory, darky's, gsinfuse, numas, caty, bionix, and zeus...couldn't remember a few more.
I've soft bricked and boot looped a few times.
I heimdalled back to uckj4 stock and go from there.
I've not seen the colors that you have mentioned.
I've not use miui.
I usually try to wipe everything and factory reset a few times as well.
I don't usually back up any roms, kernels or nandroids.
I have backed up some apps with tibu..but restore only the app..not the data.
idk but i suspect the colors you see may be related to "unclean" flash on top of old ones or bl issue...but that is just my 2 cents...
If when you do flash a new rom, consider wiping everything and heimdall or odin a later leak before going to a new rom.

This has happened to me even on stock 2.2 when I first got the phone. Its not critical. Because as mentioned, all you have to do is hit the power button to shut the screen off. When it comes back on its fine. But it is really strange..

Yeah. Today was my first time seeing a green screen lol. So far I've seen the blue, red-pinkish, and now green screen.

Yep, I've seen it too. I just flip the screen off and on again. Not a big issue I guess, just kinda amusing.

I freaking love this.. sometimes it happens 5 times in a row. I tried taking a screenshot once when it was this BA looking black and red but it came out normal.. so I was look whatever. It's not a big deal and it doesn't happen that often. Tried almost every rom other there, and I'm pretty sure that it has happened on every one.. atleast once.

I have noticed this happen on 2.3.6 based ROMs. Our devs are already looking into this. They'll update us whenever they have any update.

Yeah it nvr lasts longer then that. That's was my first instinct to turn it off and on and it always goes away. So i have never tried to unlock the phone to see how long it stays like that. Yeah i never posted anything or cared to look up anything because it only happens once and a great while and always goes right away.

Me too. But its not a big deal. Just lock it and then unlock it and it goes back to normal.

Mytouch 4g slide keeps freezing

Hey all, i don't know if there's already a thread about this but i did a quick search and didn't really find one about my problem.
Anyways, my girlfriend has a mytouch 4g slide and it keeps freezing on her. If she's in a call, she can stay in the call but won't be able to hang up or use the screen in any way until a restart. She is completely stock. This is the second mytouch for her with the same problem. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Well when I was stock, I never had any problems like this. I have heard about people having screen freezes with regards to the call screen, however. It could easily be one of the apps that she downloaded. It might be worth it to try a factory reset if the problem is persistent. Not to mention that sounds like a pretty annoying issue.

Huh, I talked to her more about this issue and it seems that it only freezes during a call. She didn't realize it until I asked her specifically about it. So any way to fix this issue.

If a factory reset doesn't solve your problem, you have two options:
Root and install a custom rom (could be a stock rom problem, even though it shouldn't be)
Get it replaced under warranty

is the device completely frozen, or can she get the screen to turn on by pressing the trackpad or something? come to think of it, the sensor doesn't seem to work perfectly on my device, so sometimes when i want to hang up a call, i need to press the trackpad to get the screen to turn on. i have never had the device become totally unresponsive tho.

Well, she says the screen is on but nothing happens when she taps it. The only way so far to get her phone to work again is a battery pull.
This is already a warranty replaced phone for the same problem. I would root her phone, but she is in San Francisco and I'm not. She is also not very tech savvy so she can't do it herself.

Have her try using GO! Dailer/Contacts. I know this issue is based within the Call Out screen. But try using GO! It can also an out of Ram issue. On stock, the more widgets you use. The worse the phone gets. You'll see that HTC Logo all the time. My Uncle has this phone, and he's 100% stock. He gets freezes, and the HTC Logo screen after every app. Since the phone has the highest priority in a call, in can be using to much RAM. Then the phones doing a Rosie reboot with out the HTC scrreen.
If she wants to. Install Zeam Launcher. She won't have any Sense widgets. But it'll free up about 120Mb of Ram. Then place the call, and see if it lags.

After a warranty replacement for my old phone, I haven't had time to fight rooting and have been experiencing similar issues... Memory mgmt seems to be cause. Ive removed some apps and it has reduced issues.
On initial use of phone, I reset it, inserted a full battery and followed the general "let it set" rules for a fresh rom install. At first, all was great, everything worked perfect. But as I added apps, it grew less stable. Also seeing phone freeze when rebooting into recovery... Eek. Tried multiple sd cards, batteries, to no avail.
Gonna call for another replacement. Ugh. Wrty is up in a couple months...

I've had a couple of freezes happen to me during phone calls and I realize what the problem was. It was apps automatically downloading in the background from the Play Store. If an auto update for apps is happening and I receive a phone call at the same time my phone will become unresponsive for a few minutes.

So this GO! Dialer, would it help with the freezing issue? I don't see how using another app would help with the memory issue. Does Zeam Launcher require root?

[Q] WTF just happened?

I have had my S3 for about two months now and it has been rooted the whole time. The stock ROM finally annoyed me enough to try a new ROM. I installed Rootbox then Pacman, but they both just sat on the boot screen for about 10 minutes before I pulled the battery and gave up. I tried installing MIUI which went well but as soon as I hit the 'restart' button, the screen went blank and now the phone won't turn on. The battery is fine, I tried the known good one out of my wife's S3.
Is there any hope here? Any chance I will be able to get it swapped out at Verizon? Am I just f'ed?

Just for the record because I know it will be asked: I am have installed many ROMs on my old Droid X and I did follow directions for these installs. MIUI even had the wizard. I do have a nandroid but since I cannot turn the phone on at all, I can't get to it. I cannot get to download mode or react when I plug the charger in. I can't even get the thing to vibrate when holding down the power button...as far as I can tell it is COMPLETELY dead.

Pull the battery and try again. If that doesn't work plug it in and see if it charges.

i fried a gsiii and got a replacement frpm big red. just tell them the OTA did it. if it can't turn on they can't check what you've done until it's too late. bring it in asap and have a sob story about how the update destroyed your phone... it worked 2 days after the jelly bean update for me.

Does the screen flash for a second or respond for any amount of time when you try charging it with or without the battery? Our is there no response at all when you're trying to charge it,?

Did you flash a rom for the i9300 version of the phone and not the i535? I did that and hard bricked my first s3.
