Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?
My AP2SD Partition has about 1gb still free according to TB but in applications my data partition is less than 40. Usually it won't bother me but I can't download or install apps from the market because of insufficient space.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks
Well I'm thinking since not every bit of data goes to the ext, that no matter the size of the partition your eventually going to run out of space because some data stays on the phone.
I know this don't help fix your problem its just my thoughts on it and it could be very inaccurate

It seems like ur ext is not active. I read something a while ago about a darktremor script u can use to activate ur ext. I'm sure if u search for that u can find it! I use s2e from the market and works well for me!
I don't know if this will help u!

Oh alright I did not realize that. I was under the impression that everything is moved to the ext partition unless no space was available.
Thanks for the info.
Kindof makes no sense why recoveries would allow you to make a ext partition whatever size you want lol xD

I usually have about 100 apps installed (yet not all can install because of this) but the partition appears to be working correctly, its mounting and everything it just doesn't seem to put everything on the EXT partition.
thanks for the read though, It was pretty useful im going to try moving cache to sd now to see if that will leave a little more space
100 APPS Well that would explain some of it . I have about 10-15 at any given time. I thought that was a lot, guess not . BTW hit the Thanks button just because you actually made me spit out my coffee .
I would agree that there's something about the a2sd you're using that isn't working correctly. I also have about 80 to 100 apps and here's my internal storage.
I realize you're on Sense and I'm on asop but if your a2sd was working correctly, you should have a lot more mb moved to the sd-ext. It looks like it's working, just not properly.

Ok try this. Full wipe reflash the Rom. Make sure the rom is A2SD enabled. Then after you let the rom settle follow THIS guide for enabling A2SD.

That's a inaccurate statement to say that it happens on "all roms". Probably all the roms you've tried, which I.m.o. seems to only be sense roms. I'm using over 1.5GB between my data partition + sd-ext partition as you can see HERE; and it's using more of my sd-ext partition then it is the data partition. As Crump stated it probably has to do with the type of A2SD you using, not what rom it is.
Edit: don't pay attention to battery meter in the pic didn't charge last night and still on 48% charge after using all day yesterday lol.

Wondering if we can get any port help on this from anybody skilled in this area??? The phone is going to have a great community and growing in numbers as we speak. We already have people wanting to dev for the phone, but we need a custom recovery. Now we dont know if the phone is encrypted locked bootloader but it doest ship stock android froyo 2.2.2 so maybe its just locked? I have read that you can get to the bootloader by just vol down + power button combo hold.
Here's some info on the phone:

Here's a video of a guy who loaded CWM on his Triumph. Not sure if the features work, but it shows that it can be booted into. What do you guys think?

So, I successfully loaded and booted into CWM v4.0.0.9. I was able to successfully complete a system backup. I would test out a ROM, however I'm not aware of any ROMs for the Triumph yet. I tried to mount /storage, nothing happened. Tried to mount USB storage, got the following error:
E:Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)
Also, I have the following two questions:
1) After my first boot into CWM, I saw the following below the menu options:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
2) During my backup, the following was displayed:
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Thoughts?

1. I think its normal when its still unofficial n has some few features not yet working. but other working features seems going normal with that error
2. its because your sdcard not partitioned into sd-ext for app2sd, but i think its not necessary to app2sd in this phone

the bulk of my backup is the data partition which was over 400mb. i extracted it and it looks to include dalvik cache so you might try clearing your dalvik before doing a backup. i dont know why youre over 1 gig tho, unless you have like 700+mb of apps installed

Any reason this stuff isn't in the android development section of the triumph forum? It's a ghost town over there. CWM has been around for a while for the triumph, but still hasn't made an appearance in the android development subsection. I thought posting the CWM files/how to would be a good first step, and posting a disclaimer listing the known non-working portions. That way potential devs browsing will find/see it, and hopefully participate.
I didn't want to overstep my boundaries.

There's nothing to post in the development because theres no development going on! cm7 not fully fuctional, Motorola hasnt released sources(and they havent gave a ET) And people are having problems with the triumph and people are being skeptical about buying this device. I got one and had the battery fry my internals and phone wouldnt even turn on! So im going to wait and see what the triumph progress.

I understand you're frustrated by your situation. However, there is development going on, it's just not at XDA. This device is still very new. And you're right - things will move quicker when the source is released by motorola.

When i meant no development having isaac work on cm7 is great work but thats the ONLY thing going on at the moment! Even any other triumph forum you go the phone hasnt boom because of motorola not releasing sources! NO sources, NO development, NO FULLY working cm7(radio)

android version 2.3.3 (build 1.18.401.1)
Kernel 2.6.35.10
This ROM is designed to be a slightly stripped down ROM with a few basic tweaks just to get the ball rolling
I intend this list of mods to improve as we learn more about the cha cha's capabilities
FOR S-OFF USERS ONLY
clockworkmod recovery
busybox 1.19
superuser 2.3.6.1
a2sd (needs sd partition)
EXT2 auto-mount
Nano text editor and sysro/sysrw
Bash shell support
zipaligned
ES File manager
DSP Manager
Ad free
Silent boot animation
task killer tweak for extra speed
Screen timeout set to 30 seconds instead of 45
Removed apps:
Google books
HTC Tips widget
Pro tips
Stocks widget
Tell HTC
Trends widget
HTC twitter
Flickr
Sound recorder
HTC photo widget
With nothing else installed you get 57MB free storage
Things I intend to be able to eventually include are more complicated kernel mods like over/underclocking, some theming mods and more memory optimizations
Installation instructions:
1. copy superdroid_1.0_signed.zip to the root of your SD card
2. make sure fastboot is turned off
3. reboot into the recovery menu
4. set a partition on the sdcard in the advanced settings for the a2sd
5. I advise wiping both the cache and dalvik cache as well otherwise you'll probably get bootloop issues
5. select choose .zip and pick the superdroid_1.0_signed.zip
6. once installed then reboot and give it time to turn on for the first time (up to 5 minutes)
7. enjoy
If you have any problems with superuser forceclosing use this method osahiro found to fix the issue. It seems to be common with the 1.18 update
1. Delete Superuser's update and clear data.
2. Reinstall superuser from the market.
3. Enable 'Auto-rotate screen' on the Display settings.
4. Change the screen to the portrait mode.
5. Run Superuser and allow permission to update its own.
6. Restart the handset

1. How do you add a ext partition to the sd card
All you need to do is use CMW and partition it in the advanced options. There is also an in depth tutoral here for using ADB http://androinica.com/2009/09/how-to-create-a-2nd-partition-to-install-android-apps-on-an-sd-card/
I plan to s-off my chacha soon and try this rom. It would be good in the faq section ( should you make one) to include a guide to make sd ext partition. I don't know to make one and think there others like me.

I have 256mb for my ext and 32mb for my linux-swap. Its really important that you get the linux swap in and do it before flashing the rom though. Doesnt matter how big your ext is though. Just as much as you want.
In next version you need to readd tweeter because it causes an endless syncloop.
I had the same problem in other roms for dhd and dz.

In future release you need to reinclude twiter as it causes an endless sync loop in facebook live feed.

You can untick live feed from autosync but after a reboot it is back on.

This may be due to me removing twitter. I'll be re-adding it for the next realease Im working on although What programs are you using? Are you using the same radio rom? Sometimes if your radio rom isnt compatable with the network or os it can cause a battery drain. I didnt include one with the rom but mine is 7.47.35.17 and Im getting plenty out of it.

Alright got it you and going. Now when I go and restore my apps, every thing looks good but one app.
APN Backup and restore. When I click restore I get a pop up telling it can't work with Android 4.0+ and Android 4.0+ won't let 3rd party APN changes.
I know I can just manually enter the a p n settings.
Oh and I love the voice to text! It doesn't go I went to the store new york new york new york new york.

Also when I went to import u contacts from the sim card. It said I have 0 . When I had over 130+ saved. And only had Google said I'm showing 60 with them. So dose it wipe the Sims when you do the steps to install a rom.

It doesn't wipe the sim. I never use my sim to store contacts I just keep them synced with my Google account that way I always have them handy.

that was what I was thinking but when I import for Sims no contacts found is what it says.
And the other post. I did not read but APN Backup and Restore done not work with 4.0

Ive read a few different posts on the proper way to fully format my sd and install this ROM. I consider myself a noobish still but willing to learn...
Im already s-off.
What can i expect, i.e will my recovery be gone after format?, is this rom pre-rooted?, will i have to use boot manager? Should i save my goldcard img on my desktop?
Can someone please give a quick step by step or (valid) link with what to expect?
Currently on Ascension a-1 b-2
Sorry if this is a noob question, but i trust all of your experience "collectively"
P.S. ive followed aospx since inception, and I really like this comparatively. I want a nice fresh and clean start on my following of this ROM... Plus ive been flashing over and over and over from AR to coredroid to many others and feel a nice clean start again would be perfect and maybe this question would help others. I have searched and again found many conflicting writeups.
Thanks for the ROM and the help, I promise not to ask stupid question from here on out.

Don't format your SD card that's where all your personal stuff is kept. If you're using the touch recovery when you go to the wipe options just touch the option that says "wipe everything but sd card" or something like that. It's quick and easy and only requires 1 touch and formats everything that needs formatting. Then go to install from sd card and choose the zip and install. I don't know if the menus are different on the "old" recovery since my memory is crap but that's how I install the new updates.
*edit*
nvm it sounds like you want to format your sd card so I guess what I typed is irrelevant. You don't have to format the card if you want a "clean install" though. On the bright side you'll get rid of all the random folders/files that aren't being used on the card. If you do decide to format your card make sure you back up your personal files that are on there i.e. your pictures, documents, or backups from titanium backup or whatever backup program you use.
One question can I still is uot kitchen to change the widgets and color on this ROM to my likings like I do with Abso 3.7 ?

Formatting your sdcard is absolutely not necessary. In recovery just wipe data, cache and dalvik for good measure you can wipe system but that step isn't required as the rom wipes system on install. Good luck

p.s. I always triple wipe before flashing but have alot of residual bs on it.

OK so you can wipe your sdcard one of two ways. On your PC or in recovery. I would suggest downloading the rom somewhere first so you have something to flash once you do your full format of phone and sdcard. You will still be S-off and this rom is rooted so you will be good to go.

If you don't have touch recovery installed go to Settings> Tools> Extras tab> then hit Install Collective Recovery you won't regret it. From there here is a screen shot that shows you where everything is you need to full wipe. Hit 'format all partitions (except sdcard)' then hit 'format sdcard'. Your system can't get any cleaner.

Alright so as many of you guys know, a lot of Team D.I.R.T ROMs have A2SD baked in! This may be looked on as good or bad! Some people have fears of partitioning their sdcard because 1 reason or other and some are just lazy to do so...hahahaha
Well I've found a solution for those that are lazy and don't want to rip open the ROM zip and do it themselves or for noobs that lack the knowledge to do so themselves!
Simple instructions....
1. Flash the ROM you want
2. DO NOT REBOOT
3. Flash the REMOVE A2SD zip
4. REBOOT
5. ENJOY!!
Please keep in mind that I've only tested this on AOSP ROMs so if you try it on Sense ROMs, please let me know......

Mazda drops another miraculous fix!!!
Well I be...I knew this day would come.
Great job, thought of another use for it.. when setting up a boot manager slot you can just tack this on.. I'll have to try it later on.
257 downloads so far
Hey guys, if you download it, could you take the time to leave some feedback?? Is the least you can do.....THANKS!!
Heyy Yoo Maz I've noticed that everything you do around here is not even a challenge to you anymore and in fact I wouldn't be surprise if you built a time machine in your freaking garage... I think you should just move on to trying to modify the Government... Thanks my friend, you're giving above and beyond a new meaning.

Nope on the contrary my phone loves everything! I've ran preludedrews ICS roms and decks roms and even decks reloaded Rom with no problems!Just don't know why Mazda's roms are the only ones give me the bootloops. Maybe he has a2sd set up differently, but its all good now! Now I can run Mazdas Rom on an ext3 partition card or a non partition card at will with this script which means Im set for life buddy! My phone and Mazdas roms are at peace now!! :-D

A2SD or non A2SD never really made a difference to me. I will try this out and see if I actually see a difference .
Okay, I don't understand why some would like to remove a2sd? I need more specific reasons than in the OP? I remember back when I first received my evo, people cried and cried about not being able to move apps to the sd card?

Honestly dude, there's no good reason for ANYONE to remove A2SD because it is a MUST with our ICS ROMs BUT some people feel the need to go against everything and act like A2SD is gonna eat their first born and steal their soul......is NOT!
Plus people have to find something to complain about....hopefully with this script I made, it will give them one less thing to complain about..hahahaha

You should change your username to wai2awezm. How did you get started in developing and porting roms anyway?
Would you suggest it to someone who isn't to good in the ways of c programming? Is it difficult to self teach c?
