[Q] D2G 2.2 wont OTA update, help please! - Droid 2 Global General

sorry for making yet another "i need help thread" but i need some help.
i had a D2G on the latest OTA GB, SBF'd back to Froyo (blur version 2.4.330) to get on CM7 (now i decided i just want stock). and since the phone is no longer activated, i cannot use System Update (it is greyed out). How can i update to the latest GB? just SBF to the latest? i just dont wanna mess up the phone any more than i already have. any help is really appreciated!

Flashing the SBF for 4.5.608 would be the best solution.
I'm also not quite sure why System Update is not available for you; it doesn't depend on activation at all. I've never had my phone activated on VZW and yet system update worked perfectly.

ok i will do that now, thank you for the help, it is much appreciated!

[Q] Anyone have a stock 9023 and a minute time?

Hey everyone - I recently flashed Android 2.3.4 onto my 9023 just to give it a spin and I noticed that the bootloader was also being flashed.
Now I reverted back to the nandroid backup of the cm7 system I was using before but I'm a bit confused because fastboot tells me the bootloader version is I9020XXXKA3 and I'm not sure that it wasn't somethin with 9023 before
So if anyone is running (prefereably stock) 2.3.1, 2.3.2 on their 9023 or at least has never flashed 2.3.4 I'd be really interested to know what their bootloader says.
Especially since I'm having some hardware problems and might have to send the thing is. So to make it appear untouched it'd be good to knwo whether I need Odin or just a stock rom....
Thanks in advance
Just nandroid restore your stock 2.3.4 ROM, restore stock recovery, lock the bootloader. Your phone will be fully stock again, and it's perfectly sensible to have updates installed on your phone since purchase, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi,
I am also facing same issue. After updating to 2.3.4 my i9023 fastboot shows baseband as I9020XXKD1 and Bootloader as I9020XXKA3. Even I am worried. I bought it yesterday only and I manually updated to 2.3.4 from full rom google link for i9023. In about section the device still shows baseband as I9023XXKD1. Even I am bit scared and completely confused! I also found that MUMBAI MTNL DOLPHIN sim card connection is no more getting HSPA connection but only 3G!

[Q] What is the best way to disable system update notifcations?

Ok, here is what I've done and where I am.
I'm using a Nexus S I9020T (original T-Mobile version). In the past I've used cwm custom recovery, flashed custom roms and obviously was rooted. The last flash I did, I upgraded to 4.0.3 stock and all went smooth, but as of right now I'm just not a fan of it.
So now, I've downgraded back to 2.3.6 stock rom. I'm also now sporting stock recovery and am rooted. I know this is a little weird, but I'm wanting the ability to do OTA updates using stock recovery, but also want root access, which is all working well at the moment.
But, I don't want to go back to 4.0.3 as of right now. So, is there an easy way for me to disable the system update notifications and stay on 2.3.6 right now and later on just re-enable them to do the update later.
From what I've read online, my best bet is to probably edit the build.prop file, but I'm not sure what content would need to go in there. I've also seen about freezing files, but I'm already getting 4.0.3 update notifications, so I'm not sure that will work.
Any help is appreciated

2.3.6 Root questions/AOSP 2.3.x?

I have two questions...
1. I had rooted my A2 when it was 2.3.5 and deleted a few apps. When the OTA update to 2.3.6 rolled around, I couldn't update because ATT is a grouch. Anyway, to solve that problem, I had to flash stock 2.3.5 back onto the phone removing root access and everything. I then proceeded to update to 2.3.6 which is fine. that's running stock as I type this. My question is, if I root it again on 2.3.6 (I know it's there...) and I freeze apps, when another OTA update rolls around, will I be able to update again? I don't want to have to flash it back to 2.3.6...(can I even do that yet?) so any help here would be appreciated.
2. I was out and about, and was looking at one of my friend's phones. She has this HTC HD2 running Android 2.3.3 AOSP. She uses ADWLauncher, etc etc. This is a Windows Phone, originally. That got me thinking...is there a AOSP version of Gingerbread for my A2? Without Blur? I'm kinda scared to do anything to it, because I want to be able to get ICS come July. Any tips here would help.
Sorry for not using the searchbar, I was just having trouble finding this info. Thanks guys!
1. Yes. Freezing apps / removing bloat as root will almost definitely keep you from the any OTA. Its the nature of the beast. You can always return to stock and apply the updates later. Also, any major update like ICS will produce a lot of posts here about how to update from an altered rom.
2. There is development work on getting CM7 to work on our phone. Currently the only released ROM that I am aware of is lfaber06's ROM

When a major update such as ICS is released, there will be alternate ways to install such as through bootstrap. Hopefully we'll find a leaked version of ICS before that, and pull the radio get CM9 working
Okay. So I'm planning on rooting it...now...but when I flashed 2.3.5 from the fxz someone provided, it said that once you updated to 2.3.6 you could never go back...but...
I'll try it.
What's bootstrap? I've heard about it and no one has been able to dumb it down for me...could anyone do that?
You can flash the FXZ after the update. It just requires a bit of modification and care. You might want to read the noob thread. It has lots of useful info.
Bootstrap is a way to backup, restore, and flash zips before android boots.
I just rooted the 2.3.6 it's running wonderfully.
Should I install the ibfaber deoxed rom? I mean I know I can do it per instructions but is it worth it?
It depends on what you want to do. If you want to apply any themes you will need to be running the deoxed rom. He also has a supercharged rom that has a lot more customization.

[Q] Lost and need help please

I recently rooted and started applying roms to my nexus s. Everything was going fine until my network data stopped working.
Have tried to unroot and return to stock but cant seem to get it right. whenever I try to use clockwork recovery any update zip i apply fails. Im currently on:
version - 2.3.1
baseband - 19020AUCKF1
kernal - 2.6.35.7-g7f1638a [email protected](hash sybol that isent on my mac keyboard)1
build - GRH7
I am based in the UK and think nthat my radio could be wrong?
When I factory reset in 2.3.1 i get the official update to 4.4 which dowloads, verifies then on installation stops and wont complete.
I am confussed with all the terminoligy and find the info on here overwelming to follow correctly.
on another forum i got the response that if i dont understand the process then I shouldent be doing this. Fact is I thought I did know what I was doing until it went wrong.
Could somebody be good enough to help me through this so I can restore my nexus s to working order please?
Read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
Check your phone model, behind the battery. You probably have a gt-i9020 since you are in the UK.
Probably you need to flash the correct radio. What's a good choice? If you do have 9020, anything in the list with kb3 in it.
Kb3 has no limit to how fast it can upload data, which can be a benefit depending on how you use your phone. Most people would choose kl1 which is the most recent.
Download and flash in cwm recovery. Reboot.
Let me know if that works for you.

can you make calls? if you can, check your apn settings, settings>Data and networks>More>APN and delete everything, and retype the correct values for your carrier. if calls doesn't work, follow the post above. ^

[Q] Help! Want to restore to factory settings from Leaked Android 4.0.4 UCLE2

Hi!
A while back (before ICS came out), I really wanted to get ICS on my phone (AT&T Skyrocket) and so used the instructions to put 4.0.4 UCLE2 onto my phone. These days I seem to have less and less time to play with my phone (sad) and so I want to just go back to the factory settings with the AT&T version of ICS.
My phone is no longer rooted but does have some CWM version on it still.
Can someone help me figure out how to get back to the original AT&T settings?
Thank you so much!

yeah, see vincom's sticky in this same forum
Sorry to be naive, that seems to show me how to root/unroot, but my phone is not currently rooted anymore, I just want to remove CWM really.
Thanks!
Nevermind - I found it - thank you so much!
