BLN - only certain kernel? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I am currently using cyanotouchwiz by seanzscreams and its the only rom over have been able to use BLN blinking with successfully. Anyone else?

I use led flash and vibrate think it cost $1 works all the time don't need bln support

It's actually compiled into the kernel. It's not a stock feature. You need to check the kernel feature list to see if it supports BLN. Then, download the BLN app from the market (either free or pro) and adjust the settings. I would rather have the kernel support over downloading an app that runs in the background that's always running. Just me.

I completely agree. Most kernels claim to have BLN support but I have only got it to work with cmwizzy which is da_G's cm7 kernel I think. Would love to know if anyone has got it to work with GB based kernel/roms ?

I've got it working on Sky ICS stock with the SMS popup app and BLN control pro from market. Missed calls, emails, and messaging all work.

[Q] GB BLN alternative?

Since BLN won't work on the kernel needed for GB roms, is there any alternative to it? NoLED won't quite cut it, I'd like an app that does the exact same thing as BLN does, as it uses almost no battery power and immediately catches my eye...
what is BLN?

i'm excited for it to come out soon. Will make GB complete.

Yea, I would like to know as well. I have tried noled, but it's a battery killer plus potential burnins.
super amoled doesn't burn in.
Noled is just to useless for me.

Ultimate setup. Post what your setup is on your captivate

Hey guys I just wanted to start a thread where people can post their setup including rom kernel modem or anything else that seems fit. This does not mean that any are the best but it may give other people cool ideas on how to make theirs better.
Here's mine and its nothing special.
I have cm7 with a kernal that allows me to overclock it to 1.7 (its a beta and is version 12 or something) then I use voltage control to overclock to 1.2 and undervolt. I also just use the stock modem. Some cool apps I use are widgetlocker which allows Widgets on your lock screen and circle launcher.
I am definatly not an expert so sorry for any mistakes.

I also wanted to add in that I do not think mine is the ultimate setup cause I'm sure its no were near it. The title is just there as a subject.

I'm running latest Miui with stock kernel and modem. Overclocked to 1.2Ghz with voltage control. Work has been crazy lately and I've been too lazy to experiment with different modems and kernels
Im on Cog 5. No overclocking, no nothing. Just stock Cog 5.
I am using the gingerbread launcher, though, instead of touchwiz. I prefer its simplicity.
This is the best my phone has ever worked.
Victory rom2.0 here with go launcher ;-) like butter
Thanks for the feedback guys!
Pinnacle 1.3
Boog's KH3 kernel version 5 (I think)

Currently Apex 10.1 with the KC1 modem and the latest Talon kernel. Runs great.
CM7 Nightly 134, Glitch 12 beta kernal, jl3 modem, overclocked to 1.2Ghz with Smartass Governor.
Silence Will Fall
Well, I just got my Captivate (old version), and I'm loving it!!
I've switched ROM's a lot, but now I'm on Dlev 4.2 - Talon kernel.
I'm pretty sure this is overclocked, given the Quadrant scores. Battery life is pretty good - a little more than a day with regular use (games, browsing, talking, texting).
So if I went to miui would I have to reflash my v12 kernel that you other guys have to? I like the way miui looks but I wish it had touchwiz

2.3.7

Are there any ROMS biult upon 2.3.7 yet? I'm currently running GSInfuse, and I like the ROM, but I would prefer running the latest version of Android. (I always like having the latest and greatest kernel, OS, and modem on my phone).
Cm7 runs 2.3.7
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
Can I O/C CM7, or run my own Kernel? I personally like to keep up to date with the latest modems, and I'm running Kernel Infusion-GB-CoreA. If I can't OC it to at least 1.6 GHz, I won't run it.
cm7 has a built in oc kernel which does go to 1.6ghz. you can not run other gingerbread kernels on it that arent meant for cm7.
Cool on the Kernel, but can I install new modems to the ROM? I'm currently running KK3, and the speed is great.

Yes, I'm running KK3 on CM7 -- working flawlessly.
One caution though if you're considering CM7 -- bluetooth doesn't work, and won't work any time soon...
If that's a deal-breaker for you, then don't bother with CM7.
I've learned to live without my BT headset, because I cannot live without CM7
U can overclock to 1.6 on cm7 but it'll crash or at least mine did. 1.4 works tho.

Wish they could fix it. $250+ tickets for not using BT makes me have to have it. Loved CM7 on my captivate.
CM7 Bluetooth works, just not with all devices (headsets in particular). Wiimotes work perfectly and it also pairs with my computers.
bluetooth data works, bluetooth audio doesnt.
Cm7 says 2.3.7 but its actually 2.3.4....2.3.6 is the highest unofficial firmware we have

MIUI is 2.3.7 and there is now one built with ICS framework. It still has the same issues with Bluetooth audio though.

where are you getting that information from?
I recommend miui. It performs magnificently, but allows you to change your theme daily if you so choose. I'm running miui @ 1.4ghz and it has no problem with it.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
the miui build is based off the cm7 build. you will still run into issues like bluetooth audio. so keep that in mind.
My "information" is i have compiled it and taken it completely apart and examied all the firmware and libs....i study....alot...check the forum
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
No offense intended, but you don't study hard enough then. You are completely and utterly incorrect. CM7 is indeed 2.3.7. Period.
I stand corrected then ...thanks

[Q] Capacitive Touch Buttons

Hello all,
On the Samsung Infuse, does anybody know of an app to keep the capacitive buttons lit while the screen is on. The phone is not rooted.
Thanks
you need to be rooted and running a kernel that supports it.
and then you can use an app off the market called BLN Control to customize it further.

Just checked this out! Fastest way to drain battery ever. My screen didn't go dark completely, it just dimmed down and stayed like that. Luckily this is a script run by Script Manager, and it's activated when you turn off the screen.

Funny, it has been working fine for me. For anyone who doesn't use an app like setCPU and is on the OLD baseband this would be great. This on the NEW bb WITH a screen off profile is even better. It's still not pre-new base band like drain, but I don't wake up with a mostly drained battery. I just looked at faux's release notes and it sounds pretty tailored to the new bb, so I think I will see how his does alone.

Jarvis kernel already have this implemented
Excuse me folks but alot of people can't use the new faux kernel and Jarvis kernel isn't exactly stable on all phones niether, the guy is simply sharing something he found, what about Harsh, Morfic, etc??? This works wonderfully with morfics kernel on Cm7.2 stable even with undervolting, I get huge battery saving now, so be easy gentlemen
